Abstract:

Abstract After studying in Budapest and Wien, Ernő Foerk first became an assistant to Imre Steindl at the Royal Joseph’s Polytechnic and later he started teaching at the Hungarian Royal Public Higher Architectural Industrial School. The practice of holiday surveys which is largely based on the experience gained in Wiener Bauhütte in Wien can be captured as a link between these two activities. Foerk’s full teaching activity was followed by the holiday paths he had with his students. These of course were also inextricably linked with the activities of the cultural heritage management at this tim

The beginning of digital signal processing took place in the years 1950 to 1954. Using an econometric model, E. A. Robinson in 1951 came up with the method of deconvolution, which he tested on 32 seismic traces. Norbert Wiener, George Wadsworth, Paul Samuelson, and Robert Solow were his advisors. On the basis of this work, the MIT president's office in 1952 set up and sponsored the Geophysical Analysis Group (GAG) in the Department of Geology and Geophysics. GAG was made up of graduate students doing research in digital signal processing. In 1953, a consortium of oil and geophysical companies

Abstract:
Summary While historical accounts of the Art Deco style in the United States often focus on the cultural influence of France, this article examines the impact of Viennese design on American taste through the work of architect and designer Joseph Urban. In particular, it offers new evidence that Urban persistently worked to disseminate the design aesthetic of the Wiener Werkstätte beyond the establishment of his renowned, yet short-lived New York gallery, Wiener Werkstätte America. In the early 2000s, the New York gallery Historical Design discovered a printed silk textile designed by Urban and
