Abstract:

Abstract:
Najwięcej makroskładników stwierdzono w liściach, mniej w korze, a najmniej w drewnie.

Abstract:
Optical fiber sensors of refractive index play important role in analysis of biological and chemical samples. This work presents a theoretical investigation of a spectral response of fiber optic microsphere with zinc-oxide (ZnO) thin film deposited on the surface and evaluates the prospect of using such structure for refractive index sensing. Microsphere is fabricated by optical fiber tapering method on the base of a single mode fiber. A numerical model is described and simulation was conducted to assess the influence of the ZnO layer deposition on a reflected signal. The results indicate that ZnO film improves the performance in terms of a potential application in refractive index sensor. Full Text: PDF ReferencesY. Qian, Y. Zhao, Q. Wu, Y. Doświadczenie polowe przeprowadzono w latach 2002–2006 na glebie płowej o składzie granulometrycznym piasku gliniastego mocnego. Badano wpływ nawożenia dolistnego Alkalinem PK 5 : 25 i Ekolistem S na plonowanie i jakość prętów trzech genotypów wierzby (Salix purpurea, S. daphnoides, S. purpurea × S. daphnoides). Nawozy stosowano dwukrotnie w okresie wegetacji wierzby, w drugiej i trzeciej dekadzie maja. Zastosowane czynniki eksperymentalne w istotny sposób wpłynęły na plon prętów ocenianych wierzb. Najlepszy efekt plonotwórczy uzyskano w wyniku dolistnego stosowania nawozu Alkalin PK 5 : 25.

Abstract:
Abstract Research background: Bankruptcy prediction models are frequently used in research. However, an industry approach is not often carried out. Due to this, this study included trends observable between the number of bankruptcies and its prediction by models. Purpose: The aim of the paper is to verify if changes in the number of actual bankruptcy in individual industries are properly predicted by the models. Also, if analyzed models are providing consistent information according to the risk of bankruptcy between industries. Research methodology: The data were collected from the Orbis database and the Coface reports. The period included in the study is 2014–2019. 5 Polish bankruptcy prediction models were used: these by D. Hadasik, E. Mączyńska and M. Zawadzki, M. Pogodzińska and S. Sojak, D. Wierzba and the Poznan one. Results: The analyzed models do not properly predict changes in the number of bankruptcy in individual industries, however, 3 out of 5 correctly predicted the trend for the entire sample. Analyzed models often provide inconsistent information. Hence, it seems sensible to use more than a few models in any further analyzes. Novelty: In the literature of the subject, there are often carried out analyses focused on the effectiveness of bankruptcy prediction models regarding individual companies. This research is focused on the prediction of changes in the number of companies to be considered as at bankruptcy risk between industries, and also on comparing these models.

Full text
Abstract:
In Hilbert spaces, five classes of monotone operator of relevance to the theory of monotone operators, variational inequality problems, equilibrium problems, and differential inclusions are investigated. These are the classes of paramonotone, strictly monotone, 3-cyclic monotone, 3*-monotone (or rectangular, or *-monotone), and maximal monotone operators. Examples of simple operators with all possible combinations of class inclusion are given, which together with some additional results lead to an exhaustive knowledge of monotone class relationships for linear operators, linear relations, and for monotone operators in general. Many of the example operators considered are the sum of a subdifferential with a skew linear operator (and so are Borwein-Wiersma decomposable). Since for a single operator its Borwein-Wiersma decompositions are not unique, clean, essential, extended, and standardized decompositions are defined and the theory developed. In particular, every Borwein-Wiersma decomposable operator has an essential decomposition, and many sufficient conditions are given for the existence of a clean decomposition. Various constructive methods are demonstrated together which, given any Borwein-Wiersma decomposable operator, are able to obtain a decomposition, as long as the operator has starshaped domain. These methods are more accurate if a clean decomposition exists. The techniques used apply a variant of Fitzpatrick's Last Function, the theory of which is developed here, where this function is shown to consist of a Riemann integration and be equivalent to Rockafellar's antiderivative when applied to subdifferentials. Furthermore, a different saddle function representation for monotone operators is created using this function which has theoretical and numerical advantages over more classical representations.

Minnaar, Enla Marie. "Grondleggende argitekte van die Departement Openbare Werke in Transvaal tot 1910, hul werk en invloed (Afrikaans)." Thesis, University of Pretoria, 2000. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/23586.

Full text
Abstract:
The void in available literature pertaining to the origin of the official architecture of the 'Publieke Werken Departement' in the 'Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek', the destruction of the Department by the Anglo Boer-War and the subsequent reconstruction of the Department as the Public Works Department of the Transvaal Colony, is addressed. A new perspective is set regarding the architectural data of the period, by analysis of the cultural doctrine of the different departments. The history of the Department is divided into four periods. The first deals with the era from the establishment of the Department in 1877, until the appointment of Sytze Wierda. The second incorporates the time from 1887 with his engagement up to the outbreak of the Anglo Boer-War in 1899. This period is generally seen as the golden age of Transvaal Republican architecture. The third relates the effect of the war on the Department and the architects while the fourth deals with the colonial time from the annexation of Pretoria in 1900, until Unification in 1910. The structure and work procedure of each department are examined to derive an image of the type of training the architects had undergone and a survey is made of what can be found of the original libraries of the departments. Specific careers are investigated. In this context, buildings are chosen from the researched lists, to be examined. The designated buildings are regarded as documents, and are analized with regard to cultural doctrine and business stance. The first period produced pragmatic thatched buildings. During the second phase, Wierda attained the embodiment of cultural doctrine in architecture, rising above mere utility in building. He strived to create a sophisticated, ideal townscape for the Z.A.R. Continuity was lacking, however, as the Department was at first brought to a standstill, and then wiped out by the war. During the fourth phase, the British Colonial Department brought about specialization of architects as quantity surveyors, engineers and architects. At first, only utility buildings were designed by the Department while prestige projects were given to private architectural firms.

Abstract:
AbstractAlthough chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) was one of the first two entities in which CAR-T cells were evaluated, it has not yet arrived in the clinical routine. Since the landmark study by Porter et al. (2011), only six CLL-specific clinical trials have been published, altogether comprising no more than 155 patients (Porter et al. 2015; Gill et al. 2018; Turtle et al. 2017; Gauthier et al. 2020; Siddiqi et al. 2020; Wierda et al. 2020; Frey et al. 2020). All six of these studies investigated CD19-directed CAR-T constructs in heavily pretreated patients, mostly having failed BTKi+/− venetoclax therapy. Despite overall response rates of 60–95%, including MRD clearance in a large proportion of patients, the CR rates appear to be relatively low, and only a few durable responses have been reported in patients achieving a CR (Porter et al. 2015; Frey et al. 2020; Cappell et al. 2020). While toxicity includes 5–20% grade 3 cytokine release syndrome and 5–25% grade 3 neurotoxicity and appears manageable, long-term efficacy remains an unresolved issue. CLL-specific efficacy barriers for CD19 CAR-T cells could include a reduced capacity for sustained T cell expansion in extensively pretreated elderly CLL patients (Lemal and Tournilhac 2019), along with impaired T cell motility, impaired T cell mitochondrial fitness, and T cell exhaustion (Bair and Porter 2019). Concurrent use of ibrutinib might reduce the CRS rate and severity (Gauthier et al. 2020; Gill et al. 2018; Wierda et al. 2020) without impairing CAR-T cell expansion.

Abstract:
What Does a Baptized Non-believer Believe in When Contracting a Marriage? In the presented study, the author’s main focus of attention was seeking answers to the question included in the title: “What Does a Baptized Non-believer Believe in When Contracting a Marriage?” Trying to answer such a research question, he pointed out that the answer cannot be obtained through referring to the subject element. According to the author, from this perspective, it is impossible to precisely determine the level of faith that would invalidate sacramental marriage. This is because, on the one hand, law as a field of knowledge does not have adequate tools to ver-ify the existing facts, and on the other hand, faith as a phenomenon is meta-juridical. The author expressed his view that the act of marital consent should become the point of reference. Analyzing the mechanisms of functioning of two defects of the consent – namely, exclusion of the sacramental dignity of marriage (can. 1101 § 2 CL) and error concerning the sacramental dignity of marriage (can. 1099 CL) – he proved that a baptized nonbeliever should not contest the object of marital consent consistent with the vision of the Catholic Church since this will, in his conviction, implies the fulfilment of the traditional doctrinal requirement of “doing what the Church does.”

Abstract:
It is commonly accepted that there is a difference between a translation of a poem and its poetic paraphrase. In poetry translation, it is not enough to retain the rhythm, rhyme patterns, and imagery. Also important is the stylistic register. The translator has to render the poem’s conceptual dominant. Using stylistic functional equivalents, a good translator should reconstruct the poetic “world model.”

Abstract:
For many years, librarians and industry experts predicted that electronic books would surpass print books as the format of preference. The advantages that digital books provide seemed to all but guarantee the demise of print. But something happened along the way. Numerous studies during the last decade have demonstrated that print still has a place for libraries, vendors and most importantly, end users. So what’s happened – why hasn’t that time come like it has for journals? And will the “tipping point” for books ever arrive? One explanation is that eBooks have not met user expectations, but optimizing user experience when users range from students, to faculty, to librarians is a big challenge! This session included a lively discussion about the user experience for eBooks from multiple perspectives. Gabrielle Wiersma from the University of Colorado Boulder shared findings from an eBook usability study with students and asked the audience to consider the reasons why people prefer one format over another. Two graduate students shared their perceptions and format preferences and answered questions from the audience. Finally, Leigh Beauchamp, Vice President of Product Development discussed how ProQuest is making patrons the center of Ebook Central platform development and how eBooks are evolving to bring the most important elements of the print experience to digital book research.
