Abstract:
Augmented reality applications in tourism usually use images as markers, such as brochures or information boards. However, it is still ineffective because users cannot interact directly with real-objects. This study aims to create applications that more interesting and interactive way which can be used by interacting directly with real-object. This research is located in Taman Ayun Temple, one of the tourism objects that are world cultural heritage in Bali. The application is designed with the real-object tracking augmented reality method using the Wikitude Android SDK platform. The application is built in Indonesian and English. The test results show that the percentage of the recognition of 40 objects from various directions is more than 80%, from a distance of 10 to 40 meters is more than 70%, from a good and moderate lighting condition is more than 80%, and recognize similar objects as a different object.

Abstract:
Markerless Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that combines two-dimensional or three-dimensional virtual objects into a real environment and then projects these virtual objects in real time without the need for a special marker. In this research, the Markerless AR application will be used to simulate room decoration with 3-dimensional objects. This research was built using the Java programming language and using supporting applications namely Android Studio and Wikitude library. Based on the results of testing with the Black-box method, the overall functionality of the application has run well, besides testing also uses the System Usability Scale (SUS) method by giving questionnaires to 20 application users. The results of the System Usability Scale (SUS) test obtained an average score of 73.13. In grouping the SUS percentile score, the value of 73.13 is in Class C, wherein this assessment the application is acceptable and can be used easily by the user.

Abstract:
Taman Ayun Temple is a world cultural heritage in Bali. Based on observations, information regarding the location at Taman Ayun Temple is still not optimal. This study aims to design an application that displays location information using markerless augmented reality. Markerless AR is a technology that displays virtual objects into the real world using GPS, digital compass, and accelerometer. The application is designed using the Wikitude SDK platform and displays information on location, description, image, distance from the user, and location direction. Data is stored in a database server and managed using the web server. Applications are in Indonesian and English. The testing compares the actual distance with the distance displayed in the application using devices with different OS and RAM. Application speed is less than 1 second depending on RAM and internet speed, while location accuracy depends on smartphone GPS accuracy with a difference of less than 10 meters from the actual distance.

Satwa endemik merupakan salah satu hewan yang memiliki ciri khusus dan hanya dapat ditemukan di beberapa lokasi tertentu. Salah satu peran dari satwa endemik adalah untuk menjaga keseimbangan alam di sekitarnya. Olehnya masyarakat perlu mengenal berbagai jenis satwa endemik khususnya satwa endemik yang tinggal berdekatan dengan masyarakat supaya dapat mengurangi perburuan liar dan penyalahgunaan peran satwa endemik tersebut sehingga berkurangnya jumlah satwa endemik, dapat dicegah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membuat “Aplikasi Pengenalan Satwa Endemik Pulau Sulawesi Berbasis Augmented Reality” yang dapat memperkenalkan, menambah minat serta kepedulian masyarakat mengenai satwa endemik terutama yang ada di Pulau Sulawesi. Dengan memanfaatkan teknologi Augmented Reality, satwa endemik yang langka keberadaannya dapat dibuat dalam objek virtual 3D untuk memudahkan masyarakat mengenal satwa tersebut. Dalam pembuatan aplikasi ini akan digunakan metode pengembangan multimedia, kakas storyboard dan flowchart untuk menjelaskan gambaran dari pembuatan aplikasi ini. Sedangkan perangkat lunak yang digunakan untuk pembuatan aplikasi ini digunakan aplikasi Unity 3D dengan bahasa pemrograman C#, library dari Wikitude SDK untuk membuat navigasi dan fungsi markerless augmented reality. Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa aplikasi ini dapat menerapkan teknologi markerless augmented reality, menampilkan objek 3D dari satwa endemik Pulau Sulawesi, melihat informasi yang disediakan dan melakukan interaksi terhadap objek 3D satwa endemik sehingga aplikasi ini dapat dijadikan sebagai media pengenalan satwa endemik Pulau Sulawesi.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose the platform for effective transformation of points of interests (POIs) into augmented reality (AR), specifically into the three major software tools – Junaio, Layar and Wikitude. The objective is to facilitate the creation of POIs for common users of these programs and, thus, encourage the general public to participate in the formation of a new concept of applications using AR and location-based services. Design/methodology/approach The subject of this study was analysis of methods used for POI dynamisation under the context of location-based services. This paper suggests methodology based on database format transformation. It is focused on the creation of platform for automated geotagged POI transformation into AR. Findings The research results in prototype of online platform which is capable to automatically transform geotagged POI to three major AR applications. It discusses also the model implementation of this platform in Czech national tourist authority. Research limitations/implications The paper presents a proof-of-concept of dynamisation and transformation of an unspecified number of POIs stored in a simple table database and their transformation into the AR. Practical implications Services of AR are brought for the masses to effectively dynamise tourist information. Social implications Results could make the process of multimedialising data (POIs) more suitable for masses. Originality/value This paper presents a proof-of-concept of dynamisation and transformation of an unspecified number of POIs stored in a simple table database and their transfer into the three major AR applications.

A kutatás a korszerű tudáshoz való hozzáférés lehetőségeit és gyakorlatát vizsgálja. A tanulmányban elsőként a tudáshoz való hozzáférés új útjainak jellemzőit mutatjuk be, melyet joggal nevezhetünk a tudás új szociológiájának (wikitudás). Ezt követően a European Social Survey adatfelvételeinek eredményeire támaszkodva, az értékrendszerek vizsgálata alapján következtetünk az új tudáshoz való hozzáférés generációk közötti különbségeire. A tanulmányban megvizsgáljuk, hogy a társadalmi egyenlőtlenségek csökkentésében milyen szerepe van az internet segítségével hozzáférhető tudásnak.

Målet med detta projekt är att ta fram en applikationsprototyp för Androidenheter som ska locka användare av applikationen till och tillbaka till broparken i Skönsberg med hjälp av augmented-reality. Applikationen ska känna av om användaren befinner sig inom eller utanför parkens område och visa olika bilder/modeller på specifika GPS-koordinater i det digitala lagret beroende på användarens positionering. Arbetet har genomförts i samarbete med Dohi på uppdrag av Sundsvalls kommun där regelbundna möten hafts med uppdragsgivaren. Utvecklingen av applikationen sker i PhoneGap med Wikitude-plugin. Projektet har resulterat i en applikationsprototyp som använder ActionRanges, som är en typ av GeoFence, för att presentera olika bilder hämtade från en egen server i det digitala lagret beroende på användarens position. Användarna har inom parkens område möjlighet att själv påverka de bilder som visas i det digitala lagret genom att i applikationen ta en bild som laddas upp till servern där bilderna lagras och där bilden som tagits även visar det digitala lagret.

Negli ultimi anni, i musei vengono visitati sempre meno, in particolare quelli più piccoli e con meno beni culturali. Questo trend negativo è maggiormente peggiorato con l'avvento della pandemia che ha bloccato completamente le visite per molto tempo. Per questo motivo i musei si stanno muovendo per apportare dei cambiamenti innovativi, che possano attirare l'attenzione dei visitatori. Proprio per questi motivi abbiamo deciso di sviluppare un'applicazione mobile con alcune funzionalità innovative, utilizzando come caso di studio il Museo della Regina, situato a Cattolica. Dopo aver effettuato uno studio approfondito su vari musei, abbiamo notato che la realtà aumentata era un argomento molto interessante e non utilizzato ancora da tutti. Abbiamo provveduto ad effettuare ricerche riguardanti lo stato dell'arte attuale, gli ambiti di applicazione e i framework utilizzati per lo sviluppo di questa tecnologia. In definitiva abbiamo deciso di utilizzare React Native, framework di sviluppo per applicazioni native con unico codice. Per quanto riguarda la realtà aumentata invece, abbiamo utilizzato una libreria esterna di Wikitude SDK. L'applicazione finale risulta essere molto promettente e pronta per essere ampliata e successivamente utilizzata all'interno del museo. Infine, abbiamo provveduto ad effettuare un sondaggio preliminare con un gruppo di utenti selezionato, dal quale abbiamo ottenuto feedback positivi e un forte interesse.

The use of applications for mobile devices applied to advertising has been increasing during the last few years, being more interactive, not requiring a large monetary investment and reaching a large number of users. The aim of this dissertation is to create an application in mobile Augmented Reality for advertising/divulgation (MARA), and it was decided that an application for turism divulgation in Covilhã would be developed. The developed application aims to present a tourist route in Covilhã, which gives information through Augmented Reality, in the various waypoints. This application also makes use of geolocation systems (GPS) that guides users through the various points. Augmented Reality (AR) is like a supplement to the real world using virtual objects created with computer graphics. This technology is expanding, its applications are varied and their diversity has been increasing, being used in several areas. In this dissertation there are examples of applications in areas such as advertising and marketing, medical, entertainment, military, education and finally tourism. The application described in this paper was developed for Android using the Apache Cordova, Wikitude and Google Maps. Android is an operating system (OS) for mobile devices based on Linux. It is the OS for mobile devices with more users in the world. Being open source it facilitates the work of developers in the application development process as well as its publication in the Play Store (Android application store). Being this application a browser application, Apache Cordova was needed to its execution. This framework facilitates the creation of applications for mobile devices, since these will be developed using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, without having to code in Java. To create the functionalities of the application it was necessary Wikitude, a plugin to perform the AR, as well as Phonegap Google Maps plugin for maps and directions, presented in the application.
As aplicações para dispositivos móveis aplicadas à publicidade têm visto a sua utilização a crescer massivamente. São mais interativas, não necessitam de um grande investimento monetário e chegam a um grande número de utilizadores. Esta dissertação tem como alvo criar uma aplicação para publicidade/divulgação em Realidade Aumentada para dispositivos móveis (MARA), tendo-se optado por desenvolver uma aplicação de divulgação turística para a Covilhã. A aplicação desenvolvida pretende dar a conhecer um percurso turístico na Covilhã, no qual é apresentada informação através da Realidade Aumentada, nos diversos pontos do percurso. Esta aplicação faz ainda uso de sistemas de geolocalização (GPS) permitindo assim guiar os utilizadores ao longo dos vários pontos do percurso. A Realidade Aumentada (RA) funciona como um suplemento para o mundo real usando objetos virtuais criados em computação gráfica. Esta é uma tecnologia em grande expansão, com aplicações cada vez mais variadas e diversificadas, podendo ser utilizada em diversas áreas. Nesta dissertação são apresentados exemplos de aplicações em áreas como publicidade e marketing, medicina, entretenimento, militar, educação e finalmente turismo. A aplicação descrita nesta dissertação foi desenvolvida para Android utilizando o Apache Cordova, Wikitude e Google Maps. O Android é um sistema operativo (SO) para dispositivos móveis baseado no Linux. É o SO para dispositivos móveis com mais utilizadores do mundo. Por ser open source facilita aos programadores o processo de desenvolvimento de aplicações, bem como a sua publicação na Play Store (loja de aplicações do Android). Sendo esta aplicação uma aplicação de browser foi necessário o Apache Cordova para a sua realização. Esta framework facilita a criação de aplicações para dispositivos móveis, já que estas serão desenvolvidas utilizando HTML, CSS e JavaScript sem ser necessário código em Java. Para criar as funcionalidades da aplicação foi necessário um plugin para realizar a RA, Wikitude, assim como os mapas e direções, Google Maps plugin para phonegap, presentes na aplicação.

Thanks to the advances of technology in various domains, and the mixing between real and virtual worlds. Allowed this master’s thesis to explore concepts related to virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and extended reality (XR). The development and comparison of Android applications and Microsoft HoloLens aimed to solve a deadlock in the recognition of instructions by the users. We used an interactive manual of assembly and disassembly for taps of residential heaters. Therefore, this work deals with three main parts. Firstly, the exploration of the concepts of VR, AR, MR, and XR. Secondly, 3D modeling and animations techniques. Finally, the development of applications using Vuforia, Wikitude, and MRTK. The users tried our application “HeaterGuideAR” to verify the effectiveness of the instruction passed by the interactive manual. Only a few users had some difficulties at the beginning of the trials. Thus, it was necessary to provide aid tools. However, other users were able to disassemble the faucet without any external help. We suggest continuing this work with more explorations, models, and situations.
Graças aos últimos avanços tecnológicos em diversas áreas deram a possibilidade de fazer a mistura do mundo real com o virtual. É com este intuito que esta tese de mestrado veio expor os conceitos relacionados à realidade virtual (RV), realidade aumentada (RA), realidade mista (RM) e realidade estendida (RE). O desenvolvimento e comparação de aplicativos Android e Microsoft HoloLens teve como objetivo resolver um impasse no entendimento de instruções por parte dos usuários. Utilizamos um manual interativo para montagem e desmontagem de torneiras de aquecedores residenciais. Este trabalho, portanto, lida com três partes principais. Na primeira, a exploração dos conceitos de RV, RA, RM e RE. Na segunda, modelagem 3D e técnicas de animações. E por fim, o desenvolvimento de aplicações usando Vuforia, Wikitude e MRTK. A aplicação “HeaterGuideAR” foi testada pelos usuários afim de verificar a eficácia da instrução passada pelo manual interativo. Apenas alguns usuários tiveram algumas dificuldades no início dos testes. Sendo que, foi necessário fornecer algumas ferramentas de auxílio. Mesmo assim, outros usuários conseguiram desmontar a torneira sem ajuda externa. Sugerimos continuar este trabalho com mais explorações, modelos e situações.
