The Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, or WiMax, is a wireless communication technique based on IEEE 802.16 standards. Its advantage of sending high data rates over long distances, while using a single base station to cover a large area, has made this technique a flexible and reliable solution for public wireless networks. WiMax has two main types of networks: Fixed and Mobile. The required frequency bands are 2.4-2.48 GHz, 3.44-3.94 GHz, and 5.16-5.68 GHz, which cover the 2.4 G/5.2 GHz WLAN band and 3.5/5.5 GHz WiMAX.

Abstract:
A novel printed diversity monopole antenna is presented for WiFi/WiMAX applications. The antenna comprises two crescent shaped radiators placed symmetrically with respect to a defected ground plane and a neutralization lines is connected between them to achieve good impedance matching and low mutual coupling. Theoretical and experimental characteristics are illustrated for this antenna, which achieves an impedance bandwidth of 54.5% (over 2.4-4.2 GHz), with a reflection coefficient <;-10 dB and mutual coupling <;-17 dB. An acceptable agreement is obtained for the computed and measured gain, ra

The multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antennas system has been studied to increase wireless channel capacity and reliability. The mutual coupling of MIMO antennas affects the capacity of the wireless channel. Traditionally, the minimal mutual coupling distance between antenna elements needs to be at least one half wavelength.
