Mu Columbae is a prototypical weak-wind O star for which we have obtained a high-resolution X-ray spectrum with the Chandra LETG/ACIS instrument and a low-resolution spectrum with Suzaku. This allows us, for the first time, to investigate the role of X-rays on the wind structure in a bona fide weak-wind system and to determine whether there actually is a massive hot wind. The X-ray emission measure indicates that the outflow is an order of magnitude greater than that derived from UV lines and is commensurate with the nominal wind-luminosity relationship for O stars. Abstract:
<p> In this thesis, the author describes various evaluation criteria, in particular the C-rate (charge/discharge-rate), of energy storage (ES) systems to explain the efficiency and technical benefits of battery-ultracapacitor hybrid energy storage (HES), and the technical characteristics of subsequently derived short-duration and long-duration type ES. In addition, for effective use of energy storage, a straightforward state of charge (SOC) correction method for energy neutral operation is proposed, and through a simple comparative example of ES operation, the effectiveness of HES in relation

Abstract:
The Tubed Mega Frame is a new structure concept for high-rise buildings which is developed by Tyréns. In order to study the structural performance as well as the efficiency of this new concept, a global analysis of the Tubed Mega Frame structure is performed using finite element analysis software ETABS. Besides, the lateral loads that should be applied on the structure according to different codes are also studied. From the design code study for wind loads and seismic design response spectrums, it can be seen that the calculation philosophies are different from code to code. The wind loads are

Forbes=Stovall, Jennifer. "Action Spectrum for Photoentrainment of the Circadian Clock in Wild-Type Chlamydomonas reinhardtii." TopSCHOLAR®, 2011. http://digitalcommons.wku.edu/theses/1094.

Abstract:
The circadian clock is an endogenous timer that oscillates with a period of approximately 24 hours and is reset upon environmental time cues such as the daily light/ dark or temperature cycles. Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is an ideal model organism for research on the circadian clock, because it shows several well-characterized behaviors that exhibit a circadian rhythm. Its circadian rhythm of phototaxis (swimming toward light) has been automated. Former action spectrum studies using the circadian phototaxis rhythm as an indicator surprisingly found that pulses of blue light were not effective i

Abstract:
Solar and wind generation are one of the most rapidly growing renewable energy sources, and is regarded as an appealing alternative to conventional power generated from fossil fuel. This is leading to significant levels of distributed renewable generation being installed on distribution circuits. Although renewable generation brings many advantages, circuit problems are created due to its intermittency, and overcoming these problems is a key challenge to achieving high penetration. It is necessary for utilities to understand the impacts of Photovoltaic (PV) generation on distribution circuits
