Abstract:
The functions and design of adaptive information-computing networks concentrates on the concept of electronic data processing based on cloud computing information technology using the Windows Azure platform. This platform is based on running a virtual machine for each instance of an interactive application. According to this concept, networked virtual objects are formed thanks to a special user interface supported by the system programs by means of network configuration tools. These are network virtual sites as a situational component of a logical network infrastructure. Windows Azure sells two cloud models in full: Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).

Abstract:
A significant open issue in cloud computing is the real performance of the infrastructure. Few, if any, cloud providers or technologies offer quantitative performance guarantees. Regardless of the potential advantages of the cloud in comparison to enterprise-deployed applications, cloud infrastructures may ultimately fail if deployed applications cannot predictably meet behavioral requirements. In this paper, we present the results of comprehensive performance experiments we conducted on Windows Azure from October 2009 to February 2010. In general, we have observed good performance of the Windows Azure mechanisms, although the average 10 min VM startup time must be accounted for in application design. We also present performance and reliability observations and analysis from our deployment of a large-scale scientific application hosted on Azure, called ModisAzure, that show unusual and sporadic VM execution slowdown of over 4× in some cases and affected up to 16% of task executions at times. In addition to a detailed performance evaluation of Windows Azure, we provide recommendations for potential users of Windows Azure based on these early observations. Although the discussion and analysis is tailored to scientific applications, the results are broadly applicable to the range of existing and future applications running in Windows Azure.

Abstract:
Windows Azure Service Bus is a distributed messaging service provided by Azure that enables organizations to create scalable and reliable applications that interact between various components. To access corporate services using Windows Azure Service Bus, you must create an Azure account, create and configure the Azure Service Bus service to get access keys, and use these keys for authentication and access to corporate services. The main Windows Azure Service Bus services include: Message Queues: allow applications to send and receive asynchronous messages through a reliable and scalable queue; Topic Subscriptions: allow applications to receive messages from thematic subscriptions that can be directed to multiple subscribers; Routing Rules: allow you to define rules for automatic message routing based on their content; Protocol Support: The Service Bus supports various communication protocols, including HTTP, HTTPS, AMQP and MQTT. This allows applications to use different protocols to exchange messages with Service Bus. Windows Azure Service Bus services are an important part of integration solutions in the cloud and allow you to create flexible and extensible applications that can interact with each other and with other services in the cloud.

Abstract:
New modern platforms are developed with time, and already existing systems migrate to the new latforms to use their advantages. In this project we have worked on changing the platform for a iven system consisting of a Customer Relationship Management system (CRM system) and a mobile application with a shared Microsoft SQL Server 2012 database. What has been evaluated s if it was possible to move the CRM system to the Microsoft cloud platform Windows Azure. Meanwhile, a study was done on the viability to transfer the iOS applications design and functionality to the Windows Phone 8 platform. The task of moving the database was solved by finding a program that, in a structured way, could recreate the database on Windows Azure. This was done with the program Microsoft SQL Server anagement Studio. The work involving the application consisted of studying the design and functionality of the iOSapplication and partially recreate it on the new platform. The program we used was Windows isual Studio 2012 and its extension Windows Phone 8 SDK. The transfer of the CRM system consisted of solving the package issues that created problems on indows Azure and publishing it on a Windows Azure website. For this we used Visual Studio 012 and Microsoft Web Matrix. The result was a prototype of the wanted application and the publishing of the CRM website and the database on Windows Azure. The new system worked together in a functional way, but due to lack of time a system test was not done to see if the new system had the same functionality as the original system.

Abstract:
When selling a service to companies or individuals, it’s important to deliver what you sell. Currently, Softronic provides companies with a platform that provides different types of services. These services create opportunities to efficiently develop government functions in accordance with the Government’s action plan for e-governance. These services are hosted by using the cloud computing platform Microsoft Windows Azure. The services’ functionality is important for both Softronic and their customers’ businesses. To know early whether there is a problem or if there will be problems with the services, Softronic wanted to monitor one of these services with the help of an external monitoring service.   The aim of this thesis was to compare three different systems for monitoring cloud-based services, implement the most suitable one and develop an application for Windows 8 where customers can see the status of their message channel inside the service. The monitoring systems tested were chosen and judged according to Softronics needs and monitoring requirements. A monitoring service called New Relic was chosen for implementation. New Relic has support for most of the required features, and for the rest of the features, an application was developed. A Windows 8 application and a website were developed that show information about customers’ message channels, and a web service was developed to supply both of them with the data they need.

Abstract:
In this study, the cloud platform Windows Azure has been targeted for test implementations of Geographical Information System (GIS) software in the form of map servers and tile caches. The map servers included were GeoServer, MapNik, MapServer and SharpMap, which together with the tile caches, GeoWebCache, MapCache and TileCache, were installed on Windows Azures three different virtual machine roles (Web, Worker and VM). Furthermore, different techniques for scalingapplications and internal role communication are presented, followed by four sets of performance tests. The performance tests attempt to highlight the differences in request times, how the different role sizes handle the load from the incoming requests, how the different role sizes handle many concurrent TCP-connections and how well the incoming requests are load balanced in between the worker roles. The test implementations showed that all map servers and tile caches were successfully installed in Azure, which leads to the conclusion that Windows Azure is suitable for hosting GIS software with similar installation requirements to the previously mentioned software. Four different approaches (Direct mapping, Public Internal Endpoints, Queue and Worker Role Request Broker) are presented showing how Azure allows different methods in order to scale the internal role communication as well as the external client requests. The performance tests provided somewhat inconclusive test results due to hardware limitations in the test setup. This made it difficult to draw concluding parallels between the final results and the expected values. Minor tendencies in performance gain can be seen when scaling the VM size as well as the number of VMs.

Abstract:
Software in computers control many important functions in today's society and are widely used for communication but also to control equipment. For the software to work reliably it needs to be built correctly and tested extensively. To achieve reliability, a build server can be used to automatically build and test the software. This report describes how a prototype of a monitoring system for the build servers was created. The system will be monitored by a monitoring service that retrieves information from a build server using the CruiseControl.NET [10] software. The information gathered by the monitoring service will be presented on a web portal. The information retrieved from build the server goes from a high level of abstraction down to the smallest detail that is based on the log files from the build server, for example, information about compilation errors. The development of the monitoring system has been focused on making it possible to use cloud services and thus not restrict where a build server is located. One of the cloud services used is the Service Bus Relay [27] that handles the communication between a monitoring service and the web portal. The web portal is developed to be responsive [34] and provide support for mobile devices which give the user the freedom to visit the web portal from whatever device. The web portal uses a database to store information which enables monitoring of multiple build servers. A well-developed user management system is used on the web portal which provides administrators with an effective tool for user management. There have been several lessons learned, including the discovery of a bug in the Microsoft implementation of message handling in the Service Bus Relay.
