Thesis (MBA (Business Management))--Stellenbosch University, 2008.<br>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Successes at local and international wine competitions are frequently used to achieve differentiation in the market place. Acting like third party credentials, award medals are meant to support a producer’s claim of superior quality. Over the past decade, there has been a notable increase in the number of wine competitions to which producers are encouraged to submit their wines. Producers are promised recognition for their success, while the organisers gain from the entry fees that producers pay, regardless of their success. It is the purpose of this study to examine, whether in the mind of the consumer wine awards do indeed play a significant role in influencing consumer choices. Initially, a literature review was conducted to establish the role of wine awards in the context of wine marketing. Based on the findings, a survey was conducted among South African wine consumers. The data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The analysis showed that while wine awards are indeed recognised by the consumer as a cue that shapes their choices, their importance is relatively low compared to other cues. Yet, having established that decision-making is a complex set of interactions, wine awards do nevertheless play a role in supporting a decision in certain circumstances and for certain customer segments. Generally speaking, it was found that the more sophisticated a consumer is, the less regard exists for wine awards. Not only do wine awards have lesser power in shaping decisions, but also attitudes towards the concept of wine awards are more negative. Lesser informed consumers tend to take more guidance, and are less opinionated about the concept of third party ratings. It was also shown that a few industry-specific issues undermine the value and potential impact of wine awards. Firstly, the increasing number of wine competitions appears to dilute the value of wine awards as a marketing tool. Secondly, consumers are sceptical regarding honesty that producers apply in marketing their awards; an independent monitoring authority is seen as a solution to raise the profile of wine awards in South Africa, thus creating more credibility and power for this tool.<br>AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Suksesse behaal by plaaslike en internasionale wynkompetisies word dikwels gebruik om differensiasie in die markplek te verkry. Net soos getuigskrifte van ‘n derde party, word toekennings gebruik om ‘n produsent se aanspraak op uitmuntende gehalte te ondersteun. Oor die afgelope dekade was daar ‘n aansienlike toename in die getal wynkompetisies en produsente word aangemoedig om hulle wyne daarvoor in te skryf. Produsente word erkenning vir hulle sukses beloof, terwyl die organiseerders voordeel trek uit die inskrywingsgelde wat produsente betaal ongeag of hulle sukses behaal of nie. Dit was die doel van hierdie studie om te ondersoek of wyntoekennings wel na die oordeel van die verbruiker ‘n belangrike rol speel om die verbruiker se keuse by wynaankope te beïnvloed. ‘n Literatuuroorsig is aanvanklik uitgevoer om die rol van wyntoekennings in die konteks van wynmakery te bepaal. Met daardie bevindings as grondslag is ‘n opname onder Suid-Afrikaanse wynverbruikers uitgevoer. Hierdie data is ontleed met behulp van beskrywende en afgeleide statistiese metodes. Die ontleding het aangetoon dat, hoewel wyntoekennings wel deur die verbruiker erken word as ‘n riglyn by hulle keuses, die belangrikheid daarvan relatief laag is vergeleke met ander riglyne. Nogtans, aangesien daar bepaal is dat besluitneming ‘n komplekse stel interaksies behels, speel wyntoekennings wel ‘n rol om ‘n besluit te ondersteun onder sekere omstandighede en by sekere kliëntsegmente. Oor die algemeen is daar bevind dat hoe meer gesofistikeerd ‘n verbruiker is, hoe minder waarde word aan wyntoekennings geheg. Nie alleen dra wyntoekennings dan minder gewig by die beïnvloeding van keuses nie, maar die houding teenoor die konsep van wyntoekennings is meer negatief. Minder ingeligte verbruikers is geneig om hulle meer te laat lei deur die konsep van ‘n derde party se oordeel en het minder van ‘n eie mening daaroor. Daar is ook aangetoon dat ‘n paar kwessies spesifiek tot die wynindustrie die waarde en potensiële impak van wyntoekennings ondermyn. Eerstens lyk dit asof die toenemende getal wynkompetisies die waarde van wyntoekennings as ‘n bemarkingsinstrument verwater. Tweedens is verbruikers skepties oor die eerlikheid van produsente by die bemarking van hulle toekennings. ‘n Onafhanklike moniteringsgesag word gesien as ‘n oplossing om die profiel van wyntoekennings in Suid-Afrika te verbeter en sodoende groter betroubaarheid en mag vir hierdie bemarkingsinstrument te bewerkstellig.

Abstract:
The purpose of this essay is to document the development of the American Bandmasters Association's Ostwald Award from its inception in 1955 to the present day. The study addresses several aspects of the award's development, taking into account more localized evolution in regard to the award's history, purpose, compositional specifications, and the procedures employed to select the winning composition and composer. Ultimately, the discussion focuses not only on how the award is presented in accordance with its own purposes but the objectives of the American Bandmasters Association. The data for this study are collected through two different methods. The primary method of data collection involves an examination of documents and other associated materials located in the ABA Archive at the University of Maryland. A secondary method of interviews is utilized in order to augment the written record and overcome its deficiencies. Participants in the study include Ostwald Award Committee members and chairs both past and present. While the Ostwald Award has recognized forty-seven compositions since its inception, no formal consideration of the award's history and contribution to the wind band repertoire has been undertaken. Such is the aspiration of this essay.

Abstract:
Wind turbines components are subject to considerable stresses and fatigue due to extreme environmental conditions to which they are exposed, especially those located offshore. Also, the most common faults present in wind turbine components have been investigated for years by the research community and that has led to propose a fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control wind turbine benchmark which include a set of faults that affect the sensors and actuators of several wind turbine components. This thesis presents some contributions to the fields of fault diagnosis, fault-tolerant control, prognostics and its integration with wind turbine control which leads to proposing a control approach called health-aware model predictive control (HAMPC). The contributions are summarized below: - Model-based fault diagnosis: to perform fault detection and isolation interval-based observers together with a set of analytical redundant relations (ARRs) are obtained based on a structural analysis and the fault signature matrix that relates the ARRs with the faults. - Fault tolerant control: it is proposed a fault tolerant control scheme that integrates fault detection and an algorithm for fault accommodation. The scheme has the objective to avoid the increment of blades and tower loads when a fault in the rotor azimuth angle sensor occurs using the individual pitch control technique (IPC). - Wind turbine blades fatigue prognostics and degradation: fatigue is assessed using the rainflow counting algorithm which is used to estimate the accumulated damage and for degradation, it is used a stiffness degradation model of blades material which is used to make predictions of remaining useful life (RUL). - Wind turbines health control: the module for the health of the system based on fatigue damage estimation and RUL predictions is integrated with model predictive control (MPC) leading to the proposed control approach (HAMPC). The contributions presented in this thesis have been validated on a wind turbine study case that uses a 5MW wind turbine reference model implemented in a high fidelity wind turbine simulator (FAST).<br>Els components dels aerogeneradors estan sotmesos a considerable estrès i fatiga, degut a les condicions ambientals extremes a les quals estan exposats, especialment els localitzats en alta mar. Per aquest motiu, al comunitat científica durant els últims anys ha investigat les averies més comunes presents en els aerogeneradors, fet que ha portat a proposar un cas d'estudi de diagnosi i control tolerant de fallades que inclou un conjunt de fallades que afecten a diversos components dels aerogeneradors. Aquesta tesi presenta algunes contribucions en els camps de la diagnosi de fallades, el control tolerant de fallades i la prognosi, així com la seva integració amb el control d'aerogeneradors, fet que ha portat a proposar una tècnica de control anomenada control predictiu basada en models conscients de la salut del sistema (HAMPC). Concretament les aportacions es poden resumir en: - Diagnosi de fallades basada en models: per a la detecció s'utilitzen observadors intervalars i l'aïllament de la fallada es fa en base el conjunt d'ARRs obtinguts de l'anàlisi estructural i de la matriu de signatures de fallades que relaciona les ARRs amb les fallades. - Control tolerant de fallades: es proposa un esquema de control tolerant a fallades que integra la detecció de fallades i algoritme d'acomodació de fallades, i té per objectiu evitar l'augment de càrregues en la pala i la torre quan es produeix una fallada en el sensor azimuth quan es fa un control individual de la inclinació de les pales (IPC). - Prognosi de la fatiga i la degradació de les pales: la fatiga s'avalua amb un algorisme denominat "rainflow counting" amb el qual es fa estimació del dany acumulat i per a la degradació es fa servir un model de degradació de la rigidesa del material amb el qual es fan prediccions de la vida útil restant (RUL). - Control de la salut d'aerogeneradors: s'ha integrat la gestió de la salut del sistema basat en danys per fatiga o prediccions de RUL amb control predictiu basat en models (MPC) donant lloc al control que anomenem HAMPC. Yes<br>Infinium Human Methylation BeadChip is an array platform for complex evaluation of DNA methylation at an individual CpG locus in the human genome based on Illumina’s bead technology and is one of the most common techniques used in epigenome-wide association studies. Finding associations between epigenetic variation and phenotype is a significant challenge in biomedical research. The newest version, HumanMethylationEPIC, quantifies the DNA methylation level of 850,000 CpG sites, while the previous versions, HumanMethylation450 and HumanMethylation27, measured >450,000 and 27,000 loci, respectively. Although a number of bioinformatics tools have been developed to analyse this assay, they require some programming skills and experience in order to be usable. Results We have developed a pipeline for the Galaxy platform for those without experience aimed at DNA methylation analysis using the Infinium Human Methylation BeadChip. Our tool is integrated into Galaxy (http://galaxyproject.org), a web-based platform. This allows users to analyse data from the Infinium Human Methylation BeadChip in the easiest possible way. Conclusions The pipeline provides a group of integrated analytical methods wrapped into an easy-to-use interface. Our tool is available from the Galaxy ToolShed, GitHub repository, and also as a Docker image. The aim of this project is to make Infinium Human Methylation BeadChip analysis more flexible and accessible to everyone.<br>Research Development Fund Publication Prize Award winner, May 2020.

Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to understand better the importance given to wine awards both by producers and consumers. From the producers’ side, the lists of the Top 100 wines from the Wine Spectator and the Wine Enthusiast were gathered and a scale was designed to evaluate the importance each producer on the list gave to the award on the respective website. Furthermore, the study presents some descriptive statistics regarding the average importance depending on the country of origin, grape variety, price, classification on the list and repeated presence on it or not. The study concludes that producers in some countries give more importance to these awards than in other. Similar differences were detected among producers of different grape varieties. In addition to this, the cheaper the wine, and the better the classification, the more likely it is that its producer will give importance to the award. As for the repeated presence, further studies are required. Moreover, from the consumers’ side, an online survey was conducted amongst potential consumers in Portugal, to understand their willingness to try new wines. The study aims at identifying what are the most important aspects when choosing wine and what role awards play in the decision, based on knowledge and image. From the results observed, people choose the medal or award that has a bigger visual impact. Lastly, the survey also let us understand that Portuguese consumers do not perceive local awards to be less relevant than the international ones.<br>O objectivo desta tese é perceber melhor a importância que os prémios na indústria dos vinhos têm, tanto para o produtor como para o consumidor. Do lado do produtor, obtiveram-se as listas dos 100 melhores vinhos do Wine Spectator e do Wine Enthusiast e definiu-se uma escala com a qual se avaliou a importância que cada produtor na lista deu ao prémio no respectivo site. Para complementar isto, apresentam-se algumas estatísticas descritivas relacionadas com a forma como essa importância varia com o país de origem, a casta, o preço, a posição na lista ou o facto de ser a segunda presença consecutiva. O estudo conclui que os produtores de alguns países, bem como os produtores de determinadas castas, dão mais importância a estes prémios do que outros. Para além disso, quanto mais barato o vinho, ou melhor a classificação, maior a probabilidade que o produtor dê importância ao prémio. Em relação às presenças consecutivas não foi possível obter conclusões. Em relação aos consumidores, foi feito um inquérito para perceber a sua disponibilidade para experimentar novos vinhos. O estudo tem como objectivo identificar quais os aspectos mais importantes na compra de um vinho e qual o papel que os prémios representam nessa escolha, baseando-se no conhecimento prévio e na imagem. Os resultados indicam que os consumidores escolhem a medalha que chama mais a atenção. Por último, o inquérito indica que os consumidores Portugueses não consideram os prémios nacionais menos relevantes que os internacionais.

On every supermarket shelf, wines compete for consumers’ attention, which is decisive in consumers’ final choice. This investigation aims at clarifying the impact that wines’ labels have on individuals’ attention and how that can determine purchase intention. Simultaneously, it is evaluated the impact and the role that quality perceptions and desire have on inducting purchase behaviors. Besides, it is investigated the role of wine awards and the consumption situation as moderators of such relationships. Thirty-nine individuals participated in an experiment based on a 2 x 2 design (awarded/not awarded x self-consumption/social-consumption). For each scenario individuals’ attention, perceptions of quality, desire and purchase intentions were recorded. Data from eye-tracking shows that, the amount of attention given to a bottle is determinant of individuals’ purchase intentions, a relationship that increases in significance for bottles with awards and for when consumers are buying wine for a consumption situation involving a social environment. Also, both quality perceptions and desire were confirmed to positively influence wines’ purchase intentions. It was verified that attention moderates the relationship between quality perception and purchase intention in the case of awarded wines. Nevertheless, for self-consumption situations, desire is more determinant for purchase intentions, while for social consumption situations quality perception is more significant, due to the increased weight that individuals give to quality when buying for those situations. By using an eye monitoring method, this thesis brings fresh and new insights to the wine industry by highlighting the impact that wines’ labels and different consumption situations have on individuals’ attention and purchase intention.<br>Em qualquer prateleira de supermercado, diferentes garrafas de vinho competem pela atenção dos consumidores, a qual é decisiva na escolha final dos mesmos. Esta investigação visa esclarecer o impacto que os rótulos dos vinhos têm na atenção dos indivíduos e como esta, a perceção de qualidade e o desejo podem determinar a intenção de compra. Simultaneamente, é avaliado o papel que os prémios e as situações de consumo têm como moderadores de tais relações. Trinta e nove indivíduos participaram numa experiência, baseada num desenho 2 x 2 (premiado/não premiado x consumo-próprio/consumo social). Para cada cenário, a atenção, perceção de qualidade, desejo e intenção de compra foram registados. Os dados recolhidos através de eye-tracking evidenciam que a atenção dada a uma garrafa é determinante na intenção de compra do indivíduo, a qual aumenta no caso de garrafas com prémios e quando os consumidores compram para uma situação de consumo social. Verificou-se ainda que a perceção de qualidade e o desejo influenciam a intenção de compra de vinho e que a relação entre esta e a perceção de qualidade é moderada pela no caso de vinhos premiados. Para situações de consumo próprio, o desejo é mais provável de determinar a intenção de compra, enquanto que para situações de consumo sociais a perceção de qualidade é mais importante. Através do uso de um método de monitoramento ocular, esta dissertação traz novos conhecimentos à indústria do vinho, colocando em evidência o impacto que a presença de prémios e as diferentes situações de consumo têm na atenção e intenção de compra dos indivíduos.

Modern distributed applications often have to make a choice about how to main- tain data within the system. Distributed storage systems are often self- contained in a single cluster or are a black box as data placement is unknown by an applica- tion. Using wide area distributed storage either means using multiple APIs or loss of control of data placement. This work introduces Sage, a distributed filesystem that aggregates multiple backends under a common API. It also gives applications the ability to decide where file data is stored in the aggregation. By leveraging Sage, users can create applications using multiple distributed backends with the same API, and still decide where to physically store any given file. Sage uses a layered design where API calls are translated into the appropriate set of backend calls then sent to the correct physical backend. This way Sage can hold many backends at once mak- ing them appear as the same filesystem. The performance overhead of using Sage is shown to be minimal over directly using the backend stores, and Sage is also shown to scale with respect to backends used. A case study shows file placement in action and how applications can take advantage of the feature.<br>Graduate

In the paper, we study the current-driven wire planning problem with the electromigration and obstacles. The objective of the paper is to minimize the total wire area by using the integer linear programming based approach. The proposed algorithm contains the following steps. First, the reservation space technique is used for all obstacles to avoid the interference between the wires and obstacles. Second, we calculate the wirelengths of all source-targets pairs with consideration the obstacles. The wirelengths for all sources and targets and the current values of all sources and targets are integrated into the ILP formulations. Third, the wire widths of the topology are determined the Lingo tool. Finally, the X-architecture wire planning is obtained by transforming each wires of the topology. The total wiring area will be further improved. The advantages of the proposed paper are as follows. First, our proposed approach achieves the optimal wiring area by using the linear programming without obstacles. Second, our approach which simultaneously considers the obstacle-avoiding length and the current density of each wire minimizes the total wiring area. Compared to the results of the greedy method, the results of our proposed ILP-based method are significantly improved by up to 16.8% for the largest testcase and 12% in average.

碩士<br>國立臺灣科技大學<br>電機工程系<br>106<br>With the development of Interet of Things (IoT), real-time wide-area monitoring through a large number of cameras will generate a plethora of streaming data, so machine learning incorporating edge computing has attracted increasing attention. However, most prior machine learning for real-time wide-area monitorning ignored setting a learning goal, e.g., protecting user privacy. Next, when any concept drift or uncertainty occurs in the streaming data, the existing model to process the data often cannot effectively selfadapt, thus gradually compromising model performance. In addition, since streaming images do not have ground-truth labels, their online models cannot be reliably corrected once any concept drift occurs. Furthmore, a new wide-area monitorning system cannot be quickly deployed due to failing to reuse previously learned knowledge from the existing systems. To address above issues, this study incorporates human’s self-regulated learning. The study also uses edge devices or cameras to collaborate with cloud servers for balancing computation burdens. There are three elements in self-regulated learning, including Forethought, Performance, and Reflection, and this study proposes their couterparts in marchine learning. For the Forethought stage (a.k.a. mForethought), a goal model can be trained to effectively reduce user privacy concerns in streaming images, which is the preset goal for the demonstration system. Next, a performance model empowered by the proposed generalized meta-cognitive based learning framework for the Performance stage (a.k.a. m Performance) can monitor the occurrence of concept drift for later online model adaption. The Reflection stage (a.k.a. mReflection) uses an expert model to correct mistakes and effectively reduce human interventions given no ground-truth can be obtained. Finally, we propose cross-field knowledge transfer, which uses transfer learning to leverage the exiting data or learned knowledge for rapidly adapting to a new field. With the above enhancements, the experiment results show that the goal model of the mForethought can effiectively blur the detected pedestrians or the whole image yet at the cost of slightly compromsing precision to ensure user privacy. The generalized meta-cognitive based learning framework of the mPerformance enhanced a regular YOLOv2 deep network with the cognitive ability to detect concept drift, the we used knowledge distillation to reduce time of model adaptation by 38% even using blurred perdstrians or images. The expert model of the mReflection reduces about 50% of human intervention for labeling data, meanwhile maintaining as much precsion. The cross-field knowledge transfer stage uses transfer learning to improve model precision of a new field by 37% under the same training iteration for a new field.

博士<br>國立清華大學<br>資訊工程學系<br>101<br>Wide-area distributed systems, including grid computing, Peer-to-Peer (P2P) computing and wireless distributed computing have recently emerged as one of the most popular applications in today's Internet. Millions of users are connected to each other to share their limited resources, such as CPU cycles, storage spaces, spectrum resources and network bandwidths, and to deliver a large variety of contents in a distributed manner with low transmission cost. With the success of these widely deployed applications, how to design efficient, flexible and stable resource sharing strategies by considering the characteristics of resources, such as scalability, heterogeneity, dynamics and locality becomes very important in order to better handle challenges brought by the enormous (and constantly increasing) amount of user nodes and contents in new applications. In this dissertation, our major objective is to clearly address these challenges particularly in the distributed P2P storage system, distributed P2P live streaming system and distributed cognitive radio network, and investigate resource sharing strategies to overcome the challenges for achieving the construction of a more efficient, flexible and stable wide-area distributed resource sharing environment. In this dissertation, we first study an overlay construction approach in P2P storage systems by exploiting the locality of peers in the underlying network. Specifically, in contrast with the P2P storage system only aware of data-locality, we propose a routing-locality-aware hybrid structured/unstructured P2P storage system to solve the routing inefficiency problem and to achieve scalable and reliable file distribution among peers. In the second part of the dissertation, we propose a two-layered hybrid tree/mesh overlay structure by exploiting the locality and flexibility that makes the overlay capable of adjusting itself according to the dynamics of peers and enhances the streaming performance of previous mesh-based P2P live streaming systems. Finally, we study a coalitional game approach to resource allocation in a multi-channel cooperative cognitive radio network (CCRN) with multiple primary users (PUs) and multiple secondary users (SUs). Since previous works only consider a single channel scenario that involves one PU and multiple SUs, this consideration presents a simplification for practical scenarios where there are typically multiple channels and multiple PUs that coexist in the coverage area of a base station in the cellular system. Thus, we investigate the cooperation strategies between multiple PUs and multiple SUs in a multi-channel CCRN, and apply the solution concepts of the coalitional game, namely the core and the Shapley value, respectively, to characterize the stability and fairness of the payoff allocation from the aggregate utility among rational users. In this dissertation, we have shown that our proposed approaches of resource sharing in various distributed systems fulfilled their design objectives, using both theoretical analysis and extensive simulations.

碩士<br>國立中正大學<br>電機工程研究所<br>106<br>Modern SoC design usually contains multiple power signals with different supply voltages driving different sets of mixed-signal circuit blocks. As the process technology advances to nanometer era, voltage or IR drop becomes very significant, which may have great impact on circuit performance and reliability. Insufficient power supply to a circuit block will lead to performance degradation or even functional failure. Although such IR-drop problem can be minimized with wide metal wires or mesh routing structures of the power network, extra metal usage of those power nets with different supply voltages will significantly increase both chip area and cost. This paper presents a new IR-aware routing method to route multiple power nets simultaneously with the considerations of routing congestion, routing tree splitting, wire tapering, and metal layer optimization. Experimental results show that the presented method can effectively reduce total metal usage and satisfy IR-drop constraints.

碩士<br>國立清華大學<br>電機工程學系<br>103<br>With the evolution of MOS technology based on Moore’s Law, we have to face the difficulties on designing and the bottleneck on physics and materials including increasing leakage current, RC delays on wire routing and yield issue. 3D integration has the most potential to solve these problems by using Though Silicon Via (TSV) technology and providing outstanding performance and high density advantage at the same time. However, there are many challenges for TSV-based 3D IC such as bad energy efficiency due to large loading, multi layer addressing and large TSV pitch. Therefore, the capability of achieving low energy efficiency by circuit design for 3D IC is the main target of our works. In the thesis, we propose a Data-Aware Charge-Sharing Low Voltage Transmission Scheme with Asymmetric Sense Amplifier to reduce the power consumption and solve the Vref selecting problems for conventional symmetric sense amplifier. A 1kb I/O macro has been fabricated in 65nm CMOS technology to verify the ideas of this works. The measurement results demonstrate the functionality of this works and the energy efficiency can achieve to 0.12 mw/Gbps.

碩士<br>國立臺南大學<br>國語文學系國語文教學碩士班<br>95<br>This research exams works that win the 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 11th, and 12th Taiwan award for teenage novels.60 works written about family issues are taken as objects. These written works are analyzed from perspectives of family sociology and creation techniques. Factors such as the change of family types, issues in family life, interaction between family members, physical and psychological difficulties children encounter, and impacts that family issues have on children, is being discussed to help understand layers those novels try to reveal. From the creation techniques point of view, theme revealing, setting arrangement, and character description are applied to exam the writing techniques used in those teenage novels. Research methods adopted in the preset study are literatures analysis and written material analysis. Results show that: 1. Family types revealed in the settings of the materials correspond to real life situation in Taiwan: there is more nuclear family. From the aspect of the changing of family types, the number of single families in Taiwan is increasing, like what happen in real life. Family issues, such as family violence, divorce, single family, and children’s misbehavior and family conflicts are revealed in the novels, which show that writers of those novels ca really see the vibration of Taiwanese society. 2. Parent-child interaction is most described in their novels. Parent-child interaction is most described in their novels. Difficulties children have are mostly about peer-group associations. When they face this kind of difficulty, they need affection coming fro their family members, especially their parents’ support. Good or bad, family incidence does have profound impacts on children’s growing process and future development. 3. Themes in these materials are about multicultural appearance, care for weak trend family, complex between two generations, siblings association, parent-teacher-student interactions, seeking of family roots, three generations complex, and associations with neighbors. These topics are associated with enlightenment and growing. 4. “Open to see” method is mostly adopted in those novels. In the development of settings, most of them are steady. For the climax production, most writers of teenage novels realize the “actions triumphs reasoning “principle and handles climax with excellence. Most of them ends happily ad corresponds to the main theme. 5. Writers infuse character description with appearance description, language description, action description, psychology description, and setting description, which makes characters more vivid. 6. From the aspects of content analysis and revealing of themes, family-based teenage novels share dissimilarity with other teenage novels with different issues. Fro the aspects of setting arrangement ad description of characters, family-based teenage novels share similarity with others with different issues. Finally, researchers of this study hope to provide prospects for future writers of teenage novels to use multidirectional skills and show complete affection for teenagers’ psychological needs in their works.

The study is based on in-depth interviews, and takes the Platinum Winners in International School Cyberfair within Year 2001 to 2006 as objects of the study. In order to present the material with much more deep and rich sequence of ideas, the data was collected and analyzed by a flexible and open study strategy. Through in-depth interviews, leading teachers shared and described their experience in the context, it is not only to know how teachers practice Community Participation Method in the context, but also to understand what kinds of level reached while integrate the method into School-Based Curriculum, Homeland Education, Flexible curriculum, or Elementary Social Studies. The changes were perceived as well, no matter what students gain from the context, the attitude of teachers, administration in the school, and even the relationship between school and community changed after the context. The result of the study can provide the reflection for schools won the Platinum award and educational authority to understand the gap between win a prize and make it practicable, it also can provide a reference for teachers to combine different material like information education, Homeland Education, School-Based Curriculum and Elementary Social Studies, and take subject-oriented study as core concept for tuition. The point is to emphasize on the combination of community resources, and expect to extract the difficulty and advantage on Community Participation Method in order to put the ideas in to practice.

Yes<br>This paper presents a novel on-chip antenna using standard CMOS-technology based on metasurface implemented on two-layers polyimide substrates with a thickness of 500 μm. The aluminium ground-plane with thickness of 3 μm is sandwiched between the two-layers. Concentric dielectric-rings are etched in the ground-plane under the radiation patches implemented on the top-layer. The radiation patches comprise concentric metal-rings that are arranged in a 3 × 3 matrix. The antennas are excited by coupling electromagnetic energy through the gaps of the concentric dielectric-rings in the ground-plane using a microstrip feedline created on the bottom polyimide-layer. The open-ended feedline is split in three-branches that are aligned under the radiation elements to couple the maximum energy. In this structure, the concentric metal-rings essentially act as series left-handed capacitances CL that extend the effective aperture area of the antenna without affecting its dimensions, and the concentric dielectric rings etched in the ground-plane act as shunt left-handed inductors LL, which suppress the surface-waves and reduce the substrates losses that leads to improved bandwidth and radiation properties. The overall structure behaves like a metasurface that is shown to exhibit a very large bandwidth of 0.350–0.385 THz with an average radiation gain and efficiency of 8.15dBi and 65.71%, respectively.
