AbstractIn this paper, we use copula-GARCH models applied to daily data from March 2010 to March 2018 to test the time-varying dependence of the Liv-ex 50, a secondary market fine wine index comprised of the ten most recent vintages of the five Bordeaux First Growths, with a portfolio composed of the six main stock markets (S&P 500, CAC 40, DAX 30, FTSE 100, and Hang Seng). Our results suggest that the Liv-ex 50 underperforms the six stock indexes, but provides diversification benefits in terms of volatility, asymmetry, and extreme events. In order to make innovation as tangible as possible, it is necessary to structure creativity. Therefore, innovation processes should be constantly monitored and quantified, like any other aspect of an organization’s performance. A 2010 survey reveals that only 22% of top managers have implemented innovation-performance measurement indicators in their organizations. This indicates that most of the global innovation phenomenon is still waiting to be measured, evaluated and streamlined, by virtue of fundamental benefits such as: efficient allocation of resources, focus of innovative efforts and m

Abstract:
It is widely acknowledged that a company’s ability to aquire market share, and hence its profitability, is very closely linked to the speed with which it can produce a new design. Indeed, a study by the U.K. Department of Trade and Industry has shown that the critical factor which determines profitability is the timely delivery of the new product. Late entry to market or high production costs dramatically reduce profits whilst an overrun on development cost has little significant effect. This paper describes a method which aims to assist the designer in producing higher performance turbomachin

Offshore wind integrated site characterisation work being conducted at US East Coast lease areas relies on experiences gained in the European market although several unique challenges are emerging. Significant layering and spatial variability of soil units, boulders to the north, and calcareous soils to the south, and sediment mobility and scour each present challenges to ground model development. Furthermore, one of the more pressing challenges in the region is glauconite. This iron potassium mica characterises as a sand but transforms into a fine-grained soil upon shearing due to particle cr

Abstract:
The residential real estate market has a significant weight in the Spanish economy and its performance is closely linked to that of the financial cycle. In addition, as evidenced by the real estate crisis that began in Spain in 2008, the risks generated in this sector have important implications for financial stability. The development of a framework for the early identification of risks in this market is therefore key. This article presents two complementary tools to meet this objective. The first is a heat map that provides a visual interpretation of risk levels in this market for a wide sel

Abstract:
This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how large companies address and report on social justice issues, ultimately fostering greater transparency and accountability with a sustainability focus. This study develops a conceptual framework which involves identifying major social justice themes and corporate stakeholders, recognising social justice issues that have been addressed and grouping them into sub-indices and to develop an unweighted Corporate Social Justice Disclosure Index (CSJDI). After checking the reliability and validity of the index using content analysis, this

This paper aims to shed light on the potential interests of developing countries in reforms to domestic support for agriculture in the OECD economies. In order to accomplish this goal, we begin by reviewing the literature on the impacts of domestic support on key variables, including farm income, in the OECD economies themselves. We then proceed to revise the standard GTAP model of global trade, based on recent work at the OECD, in order to permit it to better capture these impacts. A series of stylized simulations are subsequently offered to illustrate the differential impacts of alternative

Discovery of novel biomarkers in lupus nephritis Biomarkers are needed for making diagnosis and prognosis. In lupus nephritis, conventional tests like urinalysis or serum creatinine remain inadequate for patient care. In this proposal, we focused on non-invasive tools like blood and urine mRNAs or proteins. We chose candidate genes involving regulatory T-cell, B-lymphocyte signatures or vascular protective factors. Expression of regulatory cell signature (FOXP3) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells is associated with activity of lupus nephritis. We found FOXP3 mRNA levels in PBMCs from patien

At the same time, total and core inflation rates have fallen and remain at low levels, suggesting that a significant element of the reactivation of Colombia’s economy has been related to recovery in potential GDP. This would support the technical staff’s diagnosis of weak aggregate demand and ample excess capacity. Twenty important management areas (wetlands of management concern) and reference wetlands compose the sentinel wetlands at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. These wetlands are monitored more intensively than other wetlands in the program.
