Abstract:
Abstract It is conventional to assume that the idea of a 'new era of collaboration among organized labour, capital, and the slate in wartime Canada died still-born with the events at Winnipeg in 1919 and the Big Business assault on trade unionism during the 1920s. This paper suggests that the conventional picture has been overdrawn. Railway workers, and those in the public sector in particular, remained highly unionized, while their organizations became deeply enmeshed in structures of conciliation, arbitration, and 'co-operation' during the period 1919-1929. Under the leadership of President Henrx Thornton, the state-owned Canadian National Railways, the largest employer in Canada at that time, developed a unique strategy of labour-management collaboration seen in some quarters as the harbinger of a 'new labour era' for North American industry as a whole.

Abstract:
With the widespread use and rapid development of electric locomotives, the negative sequence and excessive phase problems of traction networks have become increasingly prominent. A hybrid railway power conditioner system (H-RPC) for co-phase was proposed, And compared with the traditional RPC system. The paper analyzed its topology and compensation principle. The design of its key parameters was given. The analysis results show that H-RPC has better compensation effect than RPC. Finally, the correctness of the H-RPC compensation effect is verified by simulation.

Abstract:
With the increasing level of air pollution and fine dust, many countries are trying to prevent further environmental damage, with various government legislations, such as the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement. In the transportation field, a variety of environmental protection schemes are also being considered (e.g., banning old diesel vehicles, alternate no-driving systems, electric car subsidies, and environmental cost charging by tax). Imposing environmental constraints is a good approach to reflect various environmental protections. The objective of this research was to analyze the mode-choice and route-choice changes based on imposing environmental constraints. For the objective, a combined modal split and traffic assignment (CMA) model with an environmental constraint model was developed. For the environmental constraint, carbon monoxide (CO) was adopted, because most of the CO emissions in the air are emitted by motorized vehicles. After a detailed description of the model, the validity and some properties of the model and algorithm are demonstrated with two numerical examples (e.g., a small and a real network in the city of Winnipeg, Canada). From the numerical results, we can observe that imposing the small restriction (or strict) value has more efficiency in mode change and reducing network emission.

Abstract:
Do analizy opracowano wielokryterialny model decyzyjny i przeprowadzono analizę porównawczą rozpatrywanych wariantów obsługi trasy Gdynia Główna - Hel.

Abstract:
Taking Yujiang River Bridge on Nanning-Guangzhou railway line as study background, the refined numerical simulation model of whole vehicle and whole bridge system for coupled vibration analysis is set up. The dynamic analysis model of the cable-stayed bridge is established by finite element method, and the natural vibration properties of the bridge are analyzed. The German ICE Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train refined three-dimensional space vehicle model is set up by multi-system dynamics software SIMPACK, and the multiple non-linear properties are considered. The space vibration responses are calculated by co-simulation based on multi-body system dynamics and finite element method when the ICE EMU train passes the long span cable-stayed bridge at different speeds. In order to test if the bridge has the sufficient lateral or vertical rigidity and the operation stability is fine. The calculation results show: The operation safety can be guaranteed, and comfort index is “excellent”. The bridge has sufficient rigidity, and vibration is in good condition.

Abstract:
The optimisation of the dynamic behaviour of an electric railway vehicle cannot disregard the effects of the driveline in the traction and braking phases when the electrical and mechanical systems mutually exchange excitations and loads. To this end, complex and reliable models for the simulation of the whole chain, from the power collector to the wheel–rail contact including control algorithms, are necessary. Using detailed and validated standalone models of the electrical and mechanical systems, developed in Simulink and in SIMPACK, respectively, the authors have studied, tuned and validated a closed loop simulation methodology. While the standalone simulation models for different rolling stock solutions have been dealt in other papers and conferences, in this paper, the readers will find a description of the steps necessary to obtain realistic co-simulations based on Simulink and SIMPACK models operating in a closed loop and the definition of an opportune interface that guarantees modularity and ease of use. The paper analyses a synthesis of Alstom's experiences on driveline modelling followed by an overview of the new methodology and the of main development phases at the vehicle system or the sub-systems level. The model validation process, the results obtained and the range of applications of the methodology are also discussed.
