Abstract:
Abstract: IASB has defined the concept of fair value measurement under the IFRS 13; in India MCA has defined this concept under Standard Ind- AS 113 as "fair value measurement" which would the set of disclosures that a company must make regarding the fair value measurement practice being used. The fair value hierarchy concept, introduced the standard of IFRS 7 in 2009, classifies the data used in the measurement according to three levels, in which two levels introduce some subjectivity in the measurement. IFRS 13 defines fair value, sets out a single framework for measuring fair value, and requires disclosures about fair value measurements. Hence, this research aims to study the disclosure of fair value measurement of the financial instruments, required by Ind AS 113, of Infosys and Wipro companies listed in the BSE Index in the year 2021. The purpose of the study is to understand the level of fair value hierarchy practices in sample companies and find the disclosure level in form of financial instruments and monetary value. The results of the study allow us to conclude that Infosys and Wipro companies listed in the BSE 30 Index companies adopt the fair value measurement principle and disclosed financial instruments based on the fair value hierarchy required by IFRS 13. It was also concluded that most financial instruments measured at fair value are classified at level 2 of the fair value hierarchy, which limits the degree of certainty about their values. Key words: Fair value, financial instruments, Fair value hierarchy, IASB, IFRS.Title: FAIR VALUE HIERARCHY PRACTICES IN INFOSYS TECH LTD AND WIPRO LTDAuthor: Sunil G E, Dr. B. Abstract:
This study aimed to explore the compensation and benefit factors influencing employees in the garments sector, focusing on BIC Bangladesh Ltd. in Chittagong, Bangladesh. A quantitative method was employed to develop hypotheses and gather numerical data, with a random sampling method chosen for data selection. The source of interviewees was BIC Bangladesh Ltd., and data were collected using survey questionnaires administered to thirty randomly selected employees from the organization. The findings indicated that BIC Bangladesh Ltd. needed to update its Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to comply with labor laws, as well as to review and enforce policy implementation. Adjusting wages to align with inflation rates, rather than merely adhering to the minimum rate set by Bangladesh labor law, was also recommended. Additionally, implementing an efficiency matrix SOP to collect real-time data on individual performance would enable the company to appropriately reward highly efficient employees. The study suggested that BIC Bangladesh Ltd. should prioritize providing leave benefits to enhance employee satisfaction and retention. Offering more leave would likely result in greater benefits in terms of employee loyalty and reduced turnover. The study’s findings on compensation and benefits practices at BIC Bangladesh Ltd. may have significant implications for the broader garments sector. Understanding and evaluating these factors could help the industry develop measures to enhance compensation practices, ultimately promoting productivity among garment employees.

Purpose- Performance appraisal is crucial for enhancing the productivity of employees working in any sector. This paper investigates the prevailing performance appraisal system and promotion policy of selected public commercial banks (Sonali Bank Ltd, Rupali Bank Ltd, and Agrani Bank Ltd) in Bangladesh. Design/Methodology- The study is a descriptive case of three banks. The findings of the study are based on the thematic analysis of the respondents’ statements. However, the study also utilized secondary sources for other relevant information. Findings- The study found that all the banks have an established system for evaluating employee performances through ACR with structured criteria for the promotion. The standard criteria include ACR, academic degree, banking diploma, length of service, etc. However, the grading scale for promoting to different positions is differing among the banks. The study also addressed some limitations of the ACR method as rating only by the manager, biasness on ratings, no appraisal feedback to employees etc. Practical Implications- The study seeks to drive the attention of policymakers to utilize their existing performance appraisal system better and design a more effective one with a well-established promotion policy to encourage the employees to give their best effort at the workplace.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper critically analyses the application of the trademark dilution doctrine under Jordanian trademark law, exposing fundamental deficiencies arising from statutory ambiguity and inconsistent judicial interpretation. The indeterminate definition of a “well-known” trademark in the second section has led to an indiscriminate classification of foreign marks as inherently well-known, resulting in courts extending automatic dilution protection without a rigorous evidentiary assessment. This practice fosters an implicit presumption favouring foreign trademark holders, potentially disadvantaging domestic marks that may not receive commensurate protection, thereby undermining the principle of equitable trademark enforcement. This paper argues for a systematic recalibration of Jordan’s dilution framework. A comparative analysis of the well-established dilution doctrines in the United States and European Union identifies jurisprudential best practices that could enhance the doctrinal coherence and judicial application of dilution protection in Jordan. Furthermore, drawing on the WIPO Joint Recommendation as a normative foundation, the paper proposes legal reforms to rectify inconsistencies, ensuring a more balanced and principled approach to trademark dilution. We argue that aligning Jordan’s legal framework with international standards strengthens the discourse on harmonising intellectual property law and ensuring equitable trademark protection in emerging markets.

Abstract:
This paper investigates the causes of inefficient fragmentation and formation of toes in the Obra pit of Chirano Gold Mines Ltd and recommends best practices in order to produce optimum fragmentation to feed the crusher at a reduced cost and to provide good working pit floors. The methods employed included: drilling performance analysis using statistical methods; fragmentation analysis of blasting performance using Kuz-Ram Model and Wipfrag software; determination of the velocity of detonation of the bulk explosive using MREL Micro Trap VOD/Data Recorder; and estimation of the cost of secondary drilling and blasting using Mine Management Reporting Software. From the analyses, it was observed that the blast designed parameters and blasting practices were acceptable to produce good fragmentation but the actual drilling parameters deviated from the designed parameters by about 25%, 24% and 26% in hole depth, burden and spacing respectively. It was concluded that the cause of the ineffective fragmentation leading to high cost of secondary breakage and uneven pit floors was due to operational errors during drilling. It is therefore recommended that in order to reduce excessive deviations in the drilling parameters, periodic training of operators must be conducted, supervision of drilling and blasting operations must be enhanced, and inclinometers should be used during drilling activities to ensure the accuracy and precision of all blast holes. The statistical analysis showed that different dimensions of work motivation and satisfaction are significantly correlated and reward and recognition have great impact on motivation of the employees. Implications of the study for managers and policy makers in the context of human resource practices have been discussed. Limitations and guidelines for future research are also provided. A meta-analytic review of all adequately designed field and laboratory research on the use of incentives to motivate performance is reported. Team-directed incentives had a markedly superior effect on performance compared to individually- directed incentives.

Abstract:
The current paper presents the Italian results of the Project Erasmus + “21st Century Skills: Changing the Approach to Teaching in Higher Education” funded by the European Commission. The paper is aimed at presenting the work of Smarthink Ltd, as project partner, providing definitions, current research, and the best practices for teaching the ‘so-called’ soft skills among university students and fresh graduates in Italy, and to understand the employers’ perception of the owned and desired competencies among young employees. The study design was twofold. Firstly, desk research where major documents, national and international, were collected on the topic in Italy, and secondly, market research where a sample of entrepreneurs was interviewed in order to gather additional information on the level of development of these skills among young graduates and employees. Findings revealed that in Italy 21st Century Skills developed by young graduates are still few and that there are only a few examples of best practices to develop these competencies at the university level. In addition, employers testified that, while young graduates are usually well prepared in terms of the level of knowledge acquired during their studies, on the other side, they regularly lack practical skills and soft skills required by the marketplace. In conclusion, there is a broad and general need in Italy to improve these skills in order to make young people more employable, giving priority to skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and self-direction. For this reason, the role of institutions like universities becomes crucial in order to reach this goal.

Abstract:
In this article, I examine the fate during the decades of socialism in Hungary of the agricultural company Árpád-Agrár Ltd. of Szentes, which which has flourished up to the present day. Its predecessor, the Árpád Mezőgazdasági Termelőszövetkezet (Agricultural Producer Cooperative), was established in 1960, during the last wave of collectivization. Most members were gardeners who specialized in a Bulgarian type of horticulture. One of the central questions in my inquiry is how individual gardeners’ best practices were preserved and further developed within the structure of a socialist cooperative. I also consider how the Árpád Cooperative used the economic reforms of 1968 to expand its market-share. In my analysis of the successful transfer of knowledge and processes of adaptation, I devote particular attention to the human factor, taking into consideration both the changing relationship between the leadership and the membership of the cooperative and the formation of a class of managers who had had experiences in the West and had a more open-minded mentality. These factors offer a possible explanation as to why this agricultural community chose the organizational form of a cooperative at the time of the change of the political regime and was transformed into a public limited liability company only a decade later.

Abstract:
Energy loss has not been addressed effectively by policies introduced to encourage the preservation and enhancement of historical structures. Material and other constraints, together with safety standard improvements, do not always guarantee adequate levels of environmental performance. An optimization of retrofit measures to align with new uses, new standards of comfort, and energy saving are needed, as are studies based on new best practices for the enhancement of architectural heritage. This paper presents a method that uses dynamic models tared on non-destructive surveys, and based on compatible energy and structural interventions derived from preliminary analyses integrated into special design tools. Energy simulations were carried out using Design Builder (6.1.5.002, Designbuilder Software Ltd, Stroud, UK) software. The case study is a former hospital, S. Salvatore, in L’Aquila, an architecturally important building, severely damaged by an earthquake in 2009. The methodology presented in this research includes in-depth investigations coherently systematized into a multi-scenario output using simulation software. The results guarantee a high level of compatibility with restoration and seismic guidelines, and new building environmental performance requirements.

Abstract:
Repeated assessments of personality states in daily diary or experience sampling studies have become a more and more common tool in the psychologist's toolbox. However, and contrary to the widely available literature on personality traits, no best practices for the development of personality state measures exist, and personality state measures have been developed in many different ways. To address this, we first define what a personality state is and discuss important components. On the basis of this, we define what a personality state measure is and suggest a general guideline for the development of such measures. Following the ABC of test construction can then guide the strategy for obtaining validity and reliability evidence: (A) What is the construct being measured? (B) What is the intended purpose of the measure? And (C) What is the targeted population of persons and situations? We then conclude with an example by developing an initial item pool for the assessment of conscientiousness personality states. © 2020 The Authors. Abstract:
This present research focuses on identifying the reasons behind the high rates of turnover among staff at Archies Construction Pvt Ltd and how the problem can be solved. Retirement, voluntary or forced termination is equally costly within the construction business as it heavily affects schedule, cost and organizational performance. This research also studies the internal factors referring to human capital theory, namely job satisfaction, reward, and promotion, management support, and the coercive factors including market trends and fluctuations, competition, and regulation. Employing survey and qualitative interviewing methods, the study combines the closed, quantitative survey data collected from employees and qualitative data obtained from the interviews with current and former employees of the company. The study brings out several internal factors that are important drivers of turnover such as lack of satisfaction with leaders, absence of career development in organizations, and poor employee remuneration. The problem is further compounded by external forces like the competition witnessed when seeking for the qualified personnel and the volatility of the market forces. The assessment points out that high turnover rates raise costs of hiring and training, impact project duration and employees’ morale thereby diminishing a firm’s stability. In response to these challenges, it is suggested that the following retention strategies should be adopted: it is proposed that leadership should communicate more effectively with employees; organizations should provide enhanced career progression plans for staff; and organizations should ensure that rewards and remuneration given to employees are competitive. Moreover, an enhancement of the degrees of employee engagement and supportiveness of workplace climate could enhance employee turnover. In other words, by managing both internal and external sources of turnover, it is possible for Archies Construction to maintain a stable workforce, exhibit sound labor productivity and, therefore, improve its performance on projects in general and its financial performance in specific. The study enhances the existing knowledge on HCM in industries that rely on projects and offers best practices for addressing turnover. Further research could focus on changes in economic or technological factors pertaining to workforce retention in the construction industry.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to report on empirical research that investigated the records management practices of two motor sport community-based organisations in Australia. Design/methodology/approach This multi-method case study was conducted on the regulator of motor sport, the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport Ltd (CAMS) and one affiliated historic car club, the Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC), in Western Australia. Data were gathered using an online audit tool and by interviewing selected stakeholders in these organisations about their organisation’s records management practices. Findings The findings confirm that these organisations experience significant information management challenges, including difficulty in capturing, organising, managing, searching, accessing and preserving their records and archives. Hence, highlighting their inability to manage records advocated in the best practice Standard ISO 15489. It reveals the assumption of records management roles by unskilled members of the group. It emphasises that community-based organisations require assistance in managing their information management assets. Research limitations/implications This research focused on the historic car clubs; hence, it did not include other Australian car clubs in motor sport. Although four historical car clubs, one in each Australian state, were invited to participate, only the VSCC participated. This reduced the sample size to only one CAMS-affiliated historical car club in the study. Hence, further research is required to investigate the records management practices of other CAMS affiliated car clubs in all race disciplines and to confirm whether they experienced similar information management challenges. Comments from key informants in this project indicated that this is likely the case. Practical implications The research highlights risks to the motor sport community’s records and archives. It signals that without leadership by the sport’s governing body, current records and community archives of CAMS and its affiliated car clubs are in danger of being inaccessible, hence lost. Social implications The research highlights the risks in preserving the continuing memory of records and archives in leisure-based community organisations and showcases the threats in preserving its cultural identity and history. Originality/value It is the first study examining records management practices in the serious leisure sector using the motor sport community.

Abstract:
This article discusses engineering supervision and engineering efforts in remediation of different sites. Public Works and Government Services Canada, which manages many of the military bases in the Ottawa region, commissioned the environmental and geotechnical firm Golder Associates Ltd. to provide engineering supervision and support for remediation of the site. The remediation of the former military landfill site, conducted in February and March 2006, not only cleaned up a polluted part of the Earth, it also pointed to some of the current best practices being used to protect the environment when working on military properties. Once site remediation began, plans had to be changed quickly, because Golder discovered that parts of the landfill site were dotted with holes that indicated it was being used as a turtle nesting site. Through a literature review, bioscientists determined what kind of aggregate would be most acceptable to the turtles as nesting material. The landfill cap is vegetated with grass and shrubs to consolidate the soil cover layers and prevent their erosion. Given that the site is behind the target area for one of the firing ranges, it does not get much human traffic, but its landscape is in keeping with the surrounding area, and the site poses no more threat to the local ecosystem.

Abstract:
Abstract Abstract 3833 Introduction: The PRIMA Phase III study demonstrates that rituximab (R) maintenance therapy after induction immunochemotherapy in previously untreated follicular lymphoma (FL) significantly improves progression-free survival (PFS) with little additional toxicity (Salles et al., 2009). Utilising clinical evidence from PRIMA, this economic analysis evaluated whether R-maintenance therapy in FL patients after response to R-chemotherapy induction is a cost-effective option compared to observational (Obs) practices in the UK National Healthcare System. METHODS: A transition state (Markov) model was developed with FL patients having a complete/partial response to 1st line R-chemotherapy induction being assigned across 4 health states reflecting their disease status; progression-free in 1st line maintenance (PF1), progression-free in 2nd line, progressive disease (PD) or Death. The model was developed over a 25 year horizon to capture the lifetime of an average patient. This required extrapolation of PFS beyond the PRIMA trial follow-up period (median 38.37 months; PFS hazard ratio 0.55; 95% CI [0.44-0.68]; Clinical Study report addendum) using the best parametric fit (Gompertz). The monthly probability of dying in PF1 was based on the maximum of either the observed PFS deaths in PRIMA or background mortality. The disposition of 1st line R-maintenance patients after progression was based on ESMO guidelines (Dreyling et al., 2010) and PRIMA. Due to extensive censoring of overall survival in PRIMA (95% and 97% in the respective R and Obs arms), the probabilities of progressing or dying in second-line or third line were obtained from the EORTC 20981 trial (van Oers et al., 2010). Predicted time in each health state was weighted using FL utility scores (Pettengell et al. 2008) to account for quality of life and estimate the Quality Adjusted Life Years (QALYs). Costs associated with the average dose of R-maintenance, post-progression treatments and managing grade 3/4 adverse events observed in PRIMA were incorporated into the relevant health state. Drug administration, patient monitoring and pharmacy costs were informed by expert opinion and the NHS schedule of reference costs. RESULTS: The average overall survival in the 1st line R-maintenance cohort was projected to be 1.27 years longer on average than in the Obs cohort (10.31 vs 9.05); and associated with an additional 1.17 QALYs. This is largely due to patients treated with 1st line R-maintenance spending more time in progression-free in first line (1.17 years). Total costs were £14,129 higher in the 1st line R-maintenance than the Obs arm and were driven by the cost of the study drug and its administration. However, this was partially compensated by the lower costs of rituximab therapy in 2nd line (cost saving £198) and the lower costs of supportive care incurred at disease progression (cost saving £906). The incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) for 1st line R maintenance was £14,712 Life Year Gained and £15,983 per QALY gained, well below an assumed willingness to pay threshold of £30,000. Although there is uncertainty associated with the progression of FL and relapse treatment costs, the ICER did not exceed £21,155 per QALY despite a wide variation in each parameter value used in both the probabilistic and deterministic sensitivity analysis. CONCLUSIONS: The cost-effectiveness of R-maintenance in FL patients after response to R-chemotherapy is well within the acceptable willingness to pay ceiling and remains valid under most plausible sensitivity scenarios. This provides adequate reassurance that the superior clinical benefits of 1st line R-maintenance are sufficient to justify the additional costs over observational practice. Disclosures: Papadakis: F.
