Abstract:
Anthropology is a dynamic discipline that has a cut-out task to provide solutions to the challenges faced by the world societies. While contribution of Anthropology is recognized in most parts of the world, India, particularly after the mid-1980s, has shown its reluctance to respond to various problems and, subsequently, ignored by planners, policymakers, administrators, and even other sister disciplines. Anthropologists have the vast knowledge of human societies, methodology, experience, and communicative skills to provide solutions to those problems. Therefore, there is an urgent need to revive the zeal of anthropologists to respond to all sorts of problems being faced by India and take the lead in providing solutions to those problems. Otherwise, anthropology may be marginalized further, and it may be suicidal for the discipline as also for its practitioners.

Abstract:
If plants absorb too little water and the cells in plant leaves is not full, there might exist atrophy characteristic distortion of the cell concentration of leaf and leaf morphological characteristic. Traditional algorithm carries out deformation measurement for withered leaf based on cell concentration characteristics and leaf morphological characteristics. Once the character distorted, characteristic parameters of leaf cell sap will be inaccurate reducing the measurement accuracy for withered leaf deformation. Therefore, we propose a computer vision-based plant leaves wilt deformation measurement method. The experimental results show that this algorithm significantly improves the accuracy of the measurement.

Full text
Abstract:
Grass strips can decrease erosion, trap sediment in silt-laden water flowing downhill, and control nonpoint source pollution. Determining the effects of different parts of grass strips on silt-laden overland flow will improve our understanding of sediment trapping by grass strips with different structures. Sediment trapping by grass strips was studied using a 5° slope, 30 L min−1 m−1 flow rate, 120 g L−1 sediment concentration, and different aboveground components of grass strips (complete grass, removed green grass, and removed green and withered grass). The whole overland flow process was monitored. Meanwhile, the runoff sediment samples at the outlet were collected and measured. Sediment trapping by aboveground grass parts was quantified at different stages. Of the soil bed surface, green grass, and withered grass, the soil bed surface dominated sediment trapping in the initial stage of the sediment-trapping process, contributing about 90% of total sediment deposition in the first 5 min. As the sediment-trapping process continued, the effect of the soil bed surface weakened, and the green grass played a major role at the later stage of sediment trapping. The ratio of the soil bed surface, green grass, and withered grass contributions to total sediment deposition at the stable stage of the experiments was approximately 3:5:2. The results will help assess the effects of vegetation restoration on sediment transport in entire watersheds.

"RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHENOLOGY, PRODUCTIVITY, AND METEOROLOGICAL FACTORS IN RECENT 15 YEARS IN THE PASTORAL AREA OF QINGHAI, CHINA." International Journal of Big Data Mining for Global Warming 01, no. 01 (June 2019): 1950002. http://dx.doi.org/10.1142/s2630534819500025.

Abstract:
Through studying vegetation phenology and its relation to meteorological factors in a representative region, we can get the responsiveness of vegetation phenophase in different sites to climate changes and how it affects vegetation productivity by the changes of growing season. It is crucial to enhance the accuracy of carbon sequestration estimate. We use phenological observation data and corresponding meteorological data from weather stations of six counties in Qinghai province. The conclusions are (1) In the background of global climate change, the temperature of the pastoral area of Qinghai takes a significantly increasing trend. The precipitation also takes an increasing trend, but only the site of Qumalai is significant. (2) The green-up dates of forages in every site are not significant, but the withered dates of forages are significantly put off. In the sites of Gande and Haiyan, the major forages put off in withered dates are Gramineae, in the site of Henan, Cyperaceae is significantly put off. Significantly extended growing season of representative forages of Gramineae, Cyperaceae and other broad-leaved herb exist in the pastoral area of Qinghai. (3) In terms of relations between green-up date and temperature, the influence of site scale is greater than the influence of different species, and advanced green-up dates of forages in the sites of Henan and Haiyan are longer than the dates of the same forages in the site of Gande. Overall, green-up dates of forages advanced in the site of Henan (Avg3.67 days/[Formula: see text]C) are longer than the dates in the site of Gande (Avg1.31 days/[Formula: see text]C). In terms of relations between green-up date and precipitation, divergences of sites and species exist. The green-up dates of forages in the sites of both Qumalai and Tongde have significant negative correlation with precipitation. In the site of Haiyan, the green-up dates of some forages advance, and the green-up dates of some forages put off. On the whole, Gramineae is best responded, then Cyperaceae and broad-leaved herb show hardly any responsiveness. (4) The responsiveness of temperature is less than precipitation in the pastoral area of Qinghai. Forages in Tongde and Qumalai have significantly positive correlation with the accumulation precipitation from August to September. The differences are the delayed dates of the withered dates of Cyperaceae (2.97 days/10[Formula: see text]mm) which are longer than the delayed dates of the withered dates of Gramineae (2.02 days/10[Formula: see text]mm) in the site of Qumalai. Conversely, the delayed dates of the withered dates of Gramineae (3.13 days/10[Formula: see text]mm) are longer than the delayed dates of the withered dates of Cyperaceae (1.68 days/10[Formula: see text]mm) in the site of Tongde. (5) Only parts of sites in the pastoral area of Qinghai have the tendency of significant increment of forage yield. The precipitations in the sites of Gande, Qumalai and Xinghai can significantly increase the forage yield. (6) The main vegetation phenology and productivity changes are affected by the drivers of climate factors. The response patterns of vegetation phenology of different functional groups and forage yield of different regions are inconsistent with the climate factors which are related to the biologic characteristics of different kinds of vegetations and climate sensitivities.

Abstract:
On condition that the heat release rate is 50kW•m-2, the volume of a gas velocity is 24 L•s-1, the combustibility of Pinus koraiensis、Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica、Picea koraiensis、Larix gmelinii in Heilongjiang Province were determined systematically through the use of the controlled atmosphere tapered calorimeter. Through the comparative analysis of the heat release rate and the smoke production rate and some orther burning parameters of the barks and the withered leaves, combine the moisture content of barks and withered leaves of each species, evaluate the fire resistance of this four coniferous species. The results shown: the heat release rate, HRR; total heat release, THR; specific extinction area and smoke produce rate are higher in the barks and withered leaves of Picea koraiensis but the fire performance index is low, these instructions that the fireproof performance is worse in Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica; each Picea koraiensis burning indexs of the Larix gmelinii is lower or the lowest, both the smoke production rate, SPR and the heat release rate, HRR are slow, the fire performance index is high. However, its absolute moisture content and relative moisture content is the highest, it’s flammble. So,we conclude its fire-resistance performance is higher, we could choose it as the fire-preventing priority screening tree species; the flammability of Pinus koraiensis and Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica between the above two species. the combustion characteristics of trees is the result of multiple factor joint, The difference between the different research results is resulted in the choice of the indexs, so it’s urgent need to establish a comprehensive and integrated evaluation index system.

Abstract:
Tea is one of the unique non-alcoholic beverages consumed all over the world next to water. During manufacturing process of CTC made tea, withering is one of the important stage wherein physical changes taken place besides certain biochemical variations. Current research was carried out the biochemical changes in the green leaves and quality attributes of made tea with respect to extended withering period using “Assam” seedlings and an unique “Chinery” clone, UPASI-9. Results on biochemical constituents of the both withered green leaves and made teas of “Assam” seedlings and UPASI-9 followed identical pattern with certain deviations. Polyphenols transformed rapidly in “Assam” seedlings while it was found to slow in UPASI-9. Processed teas showed irregular pattern in terms of TF, TR, TLC and WE values in both the test materials. TR:TF ratio enhanced in UPASI-9, after 12 hours of withering period. Overall results revealed that withering of harvested green leaves till 16 hours could be the optimum time to achieve the quality teas with desired flavor. Data generated on withered green leaf constituents and made tea attributes of both the test materials are presented and discussed in detail.

Abstract:
Wine quality is strongly affected by chemical composition and microbial population of grape must, which, in turn, are influenced by several post-harvest treatments, including grape withering. Different strategies have been suggested to manage the fermenting must microbiota, as it plays a central role in the outcomes of both spontaneous and guided fermentations. This study aimed at evaluating the impact of grape washing, SO2 addition, and selected starter culture inoculation on population dynamics, fermentation kinetics, and main oenological parameters in lab-scale trials, focusing on withered grapes usually used for Amarone production. Although grape washing treatment was effective in removing heavy metals and undesirable microorganisms from grape berry surface, inoculation of multi-starter cultures impacted more fermentation rates. Further, both grape washing and starter inoculation procedures had a remarkable impact on wine chemical characteristics, while 30 mg/L SO2 addition did not significantly affect the fermentation process. In summary, the best strategy in terms of limiting off-flavors and potentially reducing the need for SO2 addition in wine from withered grapes was the use of yeast starters, particularly mixed cultures composed by selected strains of Metschnikowia spp. and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Application of a washing step before winemaking showed a potential to improve organoleptic characteristics of wine.

This article will put forward some explanations for this ‘stillborn’ character of ‘green’ party politics in Britain. A detailed scrutiny of the history of the Ecology Party will be provided. It will be argued that the relative weakness of the Party is mainly due to its'failure to attract the support of ‘new social movements’. Particular attention will be paid to the British political system's ability to deal with middle-class protest movements by a mixture of issue suppression and group integration.
