Resumo: O objetivo desta tese é reconstituir ontologicamente a individualidade de Wilhelm Meister, protagonista do romance "Os anos de aprendizado de Wilhelm Meister", de Goethe, defendendo que Wilhelm não pôde efetivar-se por meio de sua autoatividade. No Capítulo 1, apresentamos o caráter do herói, suas qualidades e fraquezas, seus modos recorrentes de pensar, agir e sentir; discutimos, em seguida, como sua sensibilidade é especialmente aberta a certos estímulos, provocadora e atraente de outros, bem como a constituição subjetiva do herói, por meio da interiorização das experiências e da lembrança; em consciência, as ideias que ele faz sobre a realidade que experiencia. No Capítulo 2, demonstramos o modo como Wilhelm foi ativo no decorrer de sua trajetória, os obstáculos que se interpuseram à inclinação e à disposição que existiam nele para a arte teatral e, por fim, como ele redirecionou sua atividade. No Capítulo 3, abordamos as circunstâncias e as relações que Wilhelm trava com outras pessoas, tentando delimitar os contextos e avaliá-los segundo os objetivos do herói; para tanto, apresentamos um grande painel dos personagens. No Capítulo 4, acompanhamos a trajetória do herói sob o ponto de vista da sua passividade e de como essa característica reúne tanto uma necessidade literária quanto uma necessidade real, da vida social na qual Wilhelm está imerso. Por fim, apresentamos o destino do herói, o desfecho de sua trajetória. Deixamos para as Considerações Finais a discussão dos possíveis significados do destino de Wilhelm Meister, entendido como trágico para sua individualidade
Abstract: The objective of this thesis is ontologically reconstruct the individuality of Wilhelm Meister , protagonist of the novel " The years of learning Wilhelm Meister ", Goethe , arguing that Wilhelm could not manifest itself through its self activity. In Chapter 1 , we present the character of the hero , his qualities and weaknesses , their recurring ways of thinking , acting and feeling ; discussed then as its sensitivity is especially open to certain stimuli , provocative and appealing to others as well as the subjective constitution of the hero through the internalization of experiences and souvenir ; in consciousness, the ideas than it does about the reality he experiences . In Chapter 2 , we demonstrate how Wilhelm was active throughout his career , the obstacles brought to the slope and layout that existed in it for the theatrical art , and finally , as he redirected his activity. In Chapter 3 , we discuss the circumstances and relationships that lock Wilhelm with others , trying to define the contexts and evaluate them according to the objectives of the hero ; for this, we present a large panel of characters . In Chapter 4 , we follow the path of the hero from the point of view of their passivity and how this feature brings both a literary necessity as a real necessity of social life in which Wilhelm is immersed. Finally, we present the fate of the hero , the outcome of its trajectory . We leave it to the Final Considerations discussing the possible meanings of the fate of Wilhelm Meister , understood as tragic for his individuality

Les Lumières allemandes voient l’émergence d’une réflexion anthropologique spécifique qui envisage l’homme dans sa totalité, en dépassant les dualismes entre l’âme et le corps, l’esprit et la sensibilité, la nature et la culture. Le présent travail se propose d’analyser dans cette perspective "Les Années de Voyage de Wilhelm Meister ou les Renonçants" de Johann Wolfgang Goethe, ultime roman de l’auteur qui se situe au début du XIXe siècle en Allemagne. Nous démontrons que ce roman témoigne d’une unité de sens sous-jacente à la multitude apparente au premier regard. En focalisant notre recherche sur l’analyse du chemin initiatique, nous pouvons dépasser les significations communément admises. Nous pouvons montrer que tout un nouvel univers pour la compréhension de cette œuvre hermétique de vieillesse, élaborée en même temps que Faust II, de 1825 à 1829, s’ouvre alors. Goethe observe et dépeint les difficultés existentielles de son époque et propose une solution pour l’individu, celle de tendre vers une indépendance ontologique intérieure face aux incertitudes du monde extérieur. Son projet éducatif consiste à faire l’union entre la quintessence de la philosophie hermétique, tradition millénaire (die alte Wahrheit), inhérente à un accès à la maîtrise initiatique et les besoins de l’époque moderne : la capacité au dépassement de soi, acquise par une individuation réussie et l’unité en soi-même, peut être mise au service du bien commun
The German Enlightenment witnessed the emergence of a particular kind of anthropological reflection considering man in its totality, going beyond the dualisms of soul and body, spirit and sensitivity, nature and culture. This work sets out to analyze Johann Wolfgang Goethe’s ultimate novel taking place in early nineteenth century Germany — Wilhelm Meister's Journeyman Years, or the Renunciants — through that perspective. It demonstrates how a sense of unity underlies the apparent multiplicity of this novel. Focusing my research on the study of the initiatory journey allowed me to transcend commonly accepted interpretations. Indeed, the reader is provided with a new context of understanding for this hermetic novel written in old age, in the same period as Faust II, from 1825 to 1829. Goethe observes and depicts the existential difficulties of his era and offers the following solution to the individual: one should strive towards an inner ontological independence in order to face the uncertainties of the external world. His educational project consists in uniting the quintessence of hermetic philosophy, a millenary tradition (“die alte Wahrheit”) inherent in initiatory masterhood, and the needs of the modern era. Goethe thus reveals how the ability to surpass oneself thanks to a successful individuation and a sense of unity within oneself can be put at the service of the common interest

Jusqu'à présent, il est supposé que le roman d'adolescent (Adoleszensroman) est un genre qui traite de la formation de l'identité des jeunes au cours de leur adolescence. La présente thèse propose de définir plus précisément le roman d'adolescent en fonction de deux nouvelles caractéristiques: celle du «sort de l'initiative» (Schicksal der Initiative) et celle du «jugement historique» (historisches Urteil). A ces caractéristiques du roman d'adolescent se juxtapose en outre le thème de la formation identitaire. L'étude se concentre sur les romans publiés dans le monde germanophone depuis les années 90. La thèse adopte une approche historique (literarhistorisch) et herméneutique. La théorie sociologique du genre littéraire contribue à expliquer le tournant et la conjoncture historique des catégories littéraires. L'étude tente d'expliquer que le récit du «travail sur l'identité» par un jeune adolescent est un thème auquel un deuxième s'oppose, à savoir que l'adolescent devient conscient de son «initiation» dans le cadre de sa recherche identitaire et confronte ses plus ou moins «naïves» attentes avec la réalité historique d'une société. Le corpus de romans étudié forme le genre du roman d'adolescent (Adoleszensroman) qui se laisse définir comme le «roman d'adolescent du réalisme post-moderne». Il s'inscrit dans un contexte littéraire et historique dominant à partir de 1995 l'espace germanophone, mais aussi anglophone, et relève d'une certaine «sobriété» (Nüchternheit) morale et politique
Until now, it is assumed that the novel of adolescence (Adoleszensroman) is a genre that deals with the formation of identity during adolescence. This thesis proposes a more precise definition for the novel of adolescence based on two new features: the "fate of the initiative" (Schicksal der Initiative) and the "historical judgment" (historisches Urteil). These two characteristics of the novel of adolescence are complemented by the already known characteristic of the narration of formation of adolescent identity. The study focuses on novels published in Germany and Austria since the 90s. The thesis adopts a hermeneutic and historical approach (hermeneutisch und literarhistorisch). Sociological theory of literary forms helps to explain the change and the historical conditions of literary genres. The study attempts to explain that the narration of the adolescent "formation of identity" in the novel of adolescence is a theme which complements a second theme: the adolescent takes the "initiative" within the context of his search for identity and confronts his more or less "naive" expectationswith the historical reality of a society. The corpus of novels studied within the thesis form a genre of novels of adolescence (Adoleszensroman-Genre) which can be defined as "novels of adolescence of postmodern realism". It is part of the dominant literary and historical atmosphere which began ca. 1995 and can be characterized by a certain moral and political "sobriety" (Nüchternheit)

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo investigar as relações entre os media - a imprensa, a fotografia, o filme, a Internet - e a literatura, focalizando especificamente as diversas formas que a matéria Fausto assumiu durante nos últimos 500 anos e suas inter-relações com as outras áreas sociais. Parte-se da convicção que estes medias exercem um papel central na formação das estruturas sociais e nas suas características, conforme Wilhelm Voßkamp¹ os medias são "culturas de comunicação que co-definem a realidade social" (Stanitzek e Voßkamp 2001). A história de Fausto é traçada a partir de sua origem como lenda oral. Convém lembrar que a figura faustiana como base o verdadeiro Fausto que viveu aproximadamente de 1480/1 - 1510/1 na Alemanha. Georg ou Johann Faust era tido como um mágico, um astrólogo e um alquimista e suas histórias fantásticas circulavam oralmente até que foram registradas em manuscritos no início do séc. XVI. Enquanto Fausto era vivo já surgiram várias lendas a seu respeito e após sua morte, que se deu numa experiência alquímica, correu a história que ele tinha um pacto com o demônio. Martin Luther, contemporâneo de Fausto, foi o primeiro a associá-lo ao satã (entidade demoníaca da tradição cristã) em sua obra Conversa de mesa² (1593). Assim, o mito que celebra um pacto com o diabo encontra suas raízes na realidade. Após a invenção de Gutenberg, surge em 1587 a primeira obra impressa, o livro popular Historia von D. Johann Fausten³, publicado por Johann Spies. Este livro, que foi escrito com intenção de assustar, amedrontar e alertar os leitores contra as tentações do "diabo", era de fácil leitura e logo cativou um grande público, tornando-se rapidamente conhecido em quase toda a Europa. Um dos motivos da grande popularidade desta obra é que apesar de literária as cenas eram tão bem descritas que era possível projetar mentalmente os quadros de horror e sobrenaturais que ali eram narrados. A descrição da personagem demoníaca desta obra, chamada de Mephistopheles, teve nítida influência das imagens diabólicas projetadas com a laterna mágica e a câmera obscura na idade média e a personagem principal Fausto é apresentada como uma figura negativa, pois trata-se aqui de uma obra de doutrinação protestante. A mesma servia como advertência para aqueles que possuíam curiosidade intelectual e queriam ir além dos limites estabelecidos pelas igrejas católica e protestante. O inglês Christopher Marlowe escreveu em 1587 uma peça teatral The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus4, no qual, assim como na Historia, Fausto é levado pelo demônio no final da história, pois havia selado um pacto assinado com o próprio sangue. Mephisto serviria ao Fausto durante 24 anos, se o mesmo no fim da vida lhe desse sua alma. A obra de Marlowe influenciou posteriormente as peças teatrais, apresentações, teatro de marionetes e grupos de teatro itinerante na Alemanha. Em aproximadamente 1600, grupos teatrais alemães passaram a exibir a peça Fausto, introduzindo a mesma elementos cômicos, como por exemplo a figura do "Hanswurst". Fausto tornara-se uma peça dirigida ao povo, com apresentações em feiras populares. Com Gothold Ephraim Lessing inicia-se uma redramatização em um nível mais elevado, seguido pelas diversas versões do Goethe (Urfaust5-1775; Faust, ein Fragment6- 1791; Faust. Der Tragödie Erster Teil7-1808 e Faust. Der Tragödie zweiter Teil8-1826). Johann Wolfgang von Goethe assistiu ao teatro de marionetes, peça inspirada no drama de Marlowe e começa a interessar-se e aprofundar-se no tema. Goethe, porém deu ao seu livro um final diferente, nele Fausto é salvo. E é justamente em Goethe, onde Fausto torna-se símbolo do homem moderno, que a obra atinge sua máxima expressão. O Fausto apresentado em teatro de marionetes na época de Goethe e as projeções com a laterna mágica, referentes ao Fausto e Mephisto, que influenciaram a própria obra de Goethe, podem ser vistos como precursores para a introdução do novo meio fílmico. Os primeiros fragmentos na matéria do Fausto, dos quais se têm notícias, foram filmados aproximadamente em 1895, (enfatizando elementos aventureiros, mágicos e cômicos da personagem). Sabe-se que Louis Lumières e George Méliés fizeram inúmeras filmagens com a temática faustiana. Estes filmes que eram fragmentados e de curta duração eram apresentados em feiras, mercados ou espaços alugados para apresentações de filmes, como um espetáculo técnico e pura diversão. Fausto, como obra cinematográfica, vai se desenvolvendo através dos séculos, passando pelas fases inerentes á própria evolução do filme, ou seja, pela câmera obscura, laterna mágica e a fantasmagoria, até chegar ao filme mudo e falado. A temática faustiana foi vastamente utilizada nas mais diversas produções filmicas. Conforme Lange-Fuchs9, filmes sobre Fausto foram produzidos na Alemanha, França Inglaterra, América, Itália e Dinamarca. Também encontramos variantes em espanhol, romeno, dinamarquês, holandês, tscheco, servocroata, húngaro e até em jiidisch. Acompanhar o desenvolvimento da obra literária de Fausto em obra cinematográfica é ao mesmo tempo acompanhar a história da evolução do filme propriamente dita. Os filmes de curta duração retratavam somente imagens, cenas ou elementos das obras de Fausto, porém a partir de 1912 surgem filmes de longa duração com a temática faustiana.O filme mudo que será analisado mais detalhadamente neste trabalho é o Faust. Eine Deutsche Volkssage¹º (1926) de Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. Resumindo, pretende-se mostrar, como as diversas formas mediais trabalharam a figura do Fausto e como a mesma foi configurada, conforme seu respectivo medium em cada fase histórica. No que diz respeito às obras literárias, incluindo textos do treatro de marionetes, inicia-se este trabalho com a análise da já citada lenda oral, que foi inspirada pelo personagem histórico chamado Johannes "Georg" Faust, a qual surgiu manuscrita e foi impressa em 1587 (Volksbuch), após a invenção da imprensa de Gutenberg. Segue-se a estudo de Fausto no drama de Christopher Marlowe, no teatro de marionetes, que por sua vez também foram influenciados pelo escritor inglês Marlowe, o qual influenciou posteriormente as obras de Lessing e de Goethe. Apesar das obras literárias como as de Thomas e Klaus Mann abordarem a temática faustiana e serem de grande relevância para a literatura alemã, não serão foco de estudo neste trabalho. No que diz respeito ao cinema mudo alemão, o filme Faust. Eine deutsche Volkssage¹¹ de Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau será a última obra a ser analisada e estudada neste trabalho, por causa de sua grande importância para o cinema em geral. Quanto ao filme Mephisto¹² (1981) de István Szabó, o qual recorreu ao efeito do nacional-socialismo de Hitler, utilizando-se para isto da figura do ator Gustaf Gründgens, retratado primeiramente no livro de Klaus Mann; não será alvo deste trabalho. Em segundo lugar, será mostrado como o Fausto foi enriquecido de sentido diferenciado nos diversos momentos históricos: no Volksbuch com a presença da moral, no teatro de marionetes com a introdução da comicidade, na laterna mágica por sua qualidade visual e em Goethe com início da modernidade.

Analysant le fonctionnement général du capitalisme, ainsi que son rapport structurel avec les transformations paradigmatiques de la science, notre thèse démontre le rôle fondamental de la formation dans l’imposition, au niveau systémique, du capitalisme lui-même. La première partie, dédiée spécifiquement à l’analyse du roman de formation Les années d’apprentissage de Wilhelm Meister de Goethe, met en évidence de quelle façon le capitalisme mystifie sa propre essence : l’inaccomplissement. Celui-ci n’apparaît donc pas comme un moment immédiat et intrinsèque du capitalisme, mais plutôt par l’intermédiaire de la formation : promettant l’accomplissement du sujet en apprentissage, la formation révèle en fait, à la fin du parcours formatif, l’inaccomplissement du sujet formé. Le capitalisme confirme ainsi interminablement, par la formation, sa propre essence
Analysing the general functioning of capitalism, as well as its structural relationship with the paradigmatic transformations of science, our thesis shows the deep role of formation in imposing, on a systemic plan, the capitalism itself. The first part particularly focused on the Bildungsroman Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship, shows how capitalism mystify its own essence: the non-fulfilment. This one, it isn’t an immediate and intrinsic moment of capitalism, but rather as an intermediary of formation: promising the subject’s accomplishment in a learning process, the formation discovers actually, at the end of the formative process, the non-fulfilment of the forming subject. Capitalism confirms, through formation, its own essence
