Women with cardiovascular disease (CVD) manage their condition in the context of their lives and responsibilities, so a culturally adapted intervention may have a greater impact on individual behaviour. Gender relationships continue to change, and in order to understand these changes it is important to examine the current cultural context in which they are occurring.
