Abstract:
This paper examines the suicide trends in Australia from a sociological perspective using a selected number of sociological variables. Our aim is not to minimize the importance of psychogenic factors in suicide but to highlight its sociological aspects. The analysis of suicide trends shows that the overall suicide rate in Australia has remained fairly stable over the past one hundred years. This outward stability, however, camouflages some important internal changes in the suicide trends in Australian society. The paper examines some of these trends and provides a profile of some of the possible sociological factors which appear to have influenced the suicide rates of men and women in Australian society between 1880 and 1985.

Abstract:
Children’s mental health problems were analyzed from a sociological approach addressing two questions: what are the main children’s behaviors identified and considered to be mental health problems, and what are the consequences of this classification for the debate on children’s problems in contemporary societies. This quantitative and qualitative study analyzed 275 patients’ records from two child mental health services (CMHS) in the northeast area of Paris, France. The majority of children were boys from six to 11 years old; requests were presented mainly by schools and parents; the main problems were behavioural problems, cognitive difficulties and relational problems (boys), and affective or emotional problems (girls). There is an interdependence of a great number of actors who worry about children’s behavior and a system of expectations seems to be collectively woven by them as social classifications.

Abstract:
The social crisis of the end of XX century in Russia negatively impacted psycho-emotional condition of society and provoked increasing of drug addiction and alcoholism among population. The article applies inter-disciplinary position analyzing relationship between severe social psychological atmosphere of those years and mental, behavioral disorders in generation of children caused by alcohol abuse in generation of parents, especially mothers. The dynamics is presented concerning social mood of society, level of female alcoholism, nervous diseases morbidity of children. The mental and neurological disorders are discussed in the aspect of patterns of brain development during prenatal period. The biological sociological evaluation is given concerning impact of crisis of 1990s as a macro-social factor of mental and behavioral health of age group of persons born in 1990-2000s. The burden of crisis and negative emotional atmosphere in society, especially in the middle of 1990s, increasing of alcohol consumption and also dynamics of alcoholism and alcoholic psychosis morbidity of women during the same years, dynamics of nervous diseases morbidity of children aged 0-1 year in the Russian Federation with its surges, especially in 1994-1995, 1998 and 2009, permit to consider focused effect of social crisis on physical and mental health of newborns. During relative stabilization of 2010s, there is no such a concentration of negative factors. Also, certain positive circumstances are manifesting: learning of legal standards according which person is primarily responsible for one's own health, measures of struggle with alcoholism, development of perinatal medicine, etc.

Abstract:
The article deals with criminal liability for domestic violence in Ukraine. For a considerable period of time, in many cultures and in different political regimes, the family has been considered the foundation of society. The priority of the family is enshrined in both international legal acts and the Basic Law of Ukraine. However, unfortunately, sometimes the family does not become an attribute of security and peace, but rather an attribute of quarrels, conflicts, and sometimes even of violence. Sociological surveys are also disappointing: almost 70% of women are subjected to various forms of domestic violence, and 35% of minors are systematically affected by abusive parenting. In view of the pressing social need to criminalize domestic violence, and in the context of Ukraine’s ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of and Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, a new Article 126-1 “Domestic Violence” was introduced in Criminal Code of Ukraine. The author analyzes the criminal responsibility for domestic violence through the prism of the composition of crime. It has been established that the main direct object of a domestic violence crime is the health of the individual. An additional optional object may be the person’s honor, his / her mental integrity, etc. The objective aspect of domestic violence can take three forms of expression: physical, psychological, and economic violence. The subject is special (a spouse or former spouse or another person who is in a family or close relationship). The subjective side of the crime is characterized by direct intent. It is concluded that the current construction of this crime is not in general contrary to the current legislation, but needs adjustments that can improve both the perception of the norm itself and the process of its implementation. Keywords: domestic violence, types of domestic violence, physical violence, economic violence, psychological violence, qualification of domestic violence, the victim of domestic violence.

Abstract:
Objective: to establish a correlation of the main neuroendocrine and metabolic parameters associated with infertility and to provide a prognostic assessment of reproductive disorders in HIV-infected women, stages 4.Materials and methods. Cross-sectional, cohort, clinical and sociological study of fertility of 83 women of reproductive age with HIV, stages 4.Results. The most significant indicators of lipid peroxidation and neuroendocrine regulation systems have been established in patients with HIV infection and reproductive disorders, which will make it possible to predict these disorders in the future. Decreased ovarian reserve, ovarian steroid function, increased pituitary prolactinergic function are associated with a deficiency of a number of antioxidants (retinol, tocopherol, superoxide dismutase) and the development of oxidative stress with a predominant accumulation of intermediate lipid peroxidation products in HIV-infected women with infertility.Conclusion. The pathogenetically substantiated principle of the correction of antioxidant status is the use of a-tocopherol and retinol preparations and the correction of hormonal levels in HIV-infected women with reproductive disorders.

Abstract:
This qualitative study explores counselors' perceptions of the mental health aspects of infertility for heterosexual women by addressing the following five guiding questions: (1) How do licensed mental health counselors understand the infertility experience for the heterosexual woman client? (2) What is the counselors' experience of working with heterosexual women clients with infertility? (3) What do licensed mental health counselors ascribe as the goal of mental health treatment of infertility? (4) What are licensed mental health counselors' perceptions of appropriate mental health interventions for infertility? (5) What are licensed mental health counselors' perceptions of harmful mental health interventions for infertility? To address these questions, ten participant interviews were conducted with licensed mental health counselors in the state of North Dakota. Out of the interviews, ten themes emerged which addressed four of the five guiding questions. The fifth guiding question was addressed by using representative participant responses. Themes were substantiated by direct quotes from the participants. An examination of the literature was then conducted to analyze any gaps between emerged themes and the existing literature on the topic. These gaps were addressed in the discussion, which also includes limitations of the study and recommendations for future research.

Ritchey, Kathleen M. "Women with a history of incest : MMPI profile constellations." Virtual Press, 1991. http://liblink.bsu.edu/uhtbin/catkey/776710.

Full text
Abstract:
The current study assessed the effects of incest utilizing the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), an objective measure that can address such long term effects as low self esteem, isolation, depression, anxiety, suicidality, substance abuse, impaired sexual adjustment, psychosomatic concerns, and interpersonal relationship difficulties. Eighty-one women seeking counseling for issues related to an incestuous childhood, and 90 non sexually abused adult female clients completed the MMPI and a background information questionnaire.A Multivariate Analysis of Variance test comparing the mean profiles demonstrated that the incest group was more somatic, depressed, angry, anxious, and confused. A chi square analysis of two-point code type configurations found the incest group being more classified by the 48/84 and the 24/42 code types whereas the control group was more represented by the 46/64 code type. Lastly, the groups were compared by completing cluster analyses on each group's profiles. Both groups yielded an "overwhelmed" cluster that was statistically the same. Secondly, they each yielded a "normal" cluster that was similar but statistically different. Finally, the incest group yielded an "angry and confused" cluster and the control group yielded a "somatizer" cluster. Descriptions of the clusters and reasons for their differences are proposed.Differential impact was examined by comparing the incest clusters on number of abusers, use of threat or force, identity of the abuser, perceived betrayal by a non offending parent, length of time since abuse, and length of time in counseling. The only significant finding in these analyses was that the "overwhelmed" cluster had a greater number of abusers than the "angry and confused" and the "normal" clusters. The first two analyses were included in the study to validate the similarity of the present data with previous research and to demonstrate the myopic vision that results from analyzing the data in these manners. The cluster analysis allowed for the examination of the differential impact of the numerous long term sequalae. Recommendations for further research are presented as well as implications for treatment.<br>Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services

Full text
Abstract:
A grounded theory method was used to investigate the experiences of women who use naturopathic medicine, a system of alternative therapy, for health care during the menopausal transition. Transcripts of 16 in-depth interviews with women who received naturopathic health care during the menopausal transition were analyzed with respect to three research questions: (a) Why do women seek naturopathic health care during the menopausal transition? (b) Do women who use naturopathic treatment for menopausal health care share similar experiences of menopause? and ( c) Are women satisfied with the naturopathic treatment they receive for menopausal health care? Conditions leading to informants' use of naturopathy were represented by two categories: Practicing natural self-care, and Rejecting the conventional medical system Experiences of menopause were represented by three categories: It's not a singular event, Paying attention to changes in and around me, and Information helps. Informants' satisfaction with naturopathy for menopause-related health care was represented by four categories: Naturopathy is consistent with engaging in natural self-care practices, Naturopathy is effective in treating troubling menopausal signs, Naturopathy addresses individual and interrelated aspects of menopause, and Naturopathy provides moral and informational support. Continued analysis of the data revealed a core category, Exchanging infonnation, that provided a foundation for the theoretical model representing the experience of women who use naturopathic health care at menopause. The grounded theory developed in this study may be useful to health professionals by increasing understanding of the naturopathic health care option for menopausal women. Suggestions for further study include quantitative evaluation of components of the theory developed in this study, continued qualitative and quantitative investigation of aspects of information exchange between patients and their conventional and alternative practitioners, application of grounded theory methodology to studies of women's use of hormone replacement therapy, and application of grounded theory methodology to studies of patients' selection of alternative medicine for health matters other than menopause.

Abstract:
This chapter reviews the burden associated with suicide in the United States and around the world as a leading cause of death. There are many factors associated with higher risk for suicide, and there are a range of conceptual approaches to understanding it, including the sociological perspective, originally proposed by Durkheim in the 19th century and elaborated in many ways since then. American Indians and Alaskan Natives; lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals; middle-aged men and women; and military personnel and veterans have higher than expected rates of suicide. Suicide sometimes occurs in imitation of public figures who take their own life, and the manner of journalistic reporting can affect the size of the imitative response in the population. Future directions for suicide prevention should focus on the need for data linkage and upstream approaches to identify novel predictors, evaluate the effectiveness of prevention techniques, and expand on prevention paradigms.

Abstract:
This research assess and analyzes cybercrime's current state concerning the encompassing psychosocial context of victimization in Pakistan. This research discusses, explains, and interprets the determinants behind the psychosocial aspects of cybercrime victimization and combines the factors incorporated with the causes, patterns, and nature of psychosocial dilemmas in the Pakistani context. Qualitative research methodology by using purposive sampling is adopted, and five case studies are taken. This research is explanatory in its very nature. Unfortunately, Pakistan possesses an ideal environment for the growth of cybercrime. Women register 70% of the cybercrime cases, and more than 60% of crimes are Facebook related. Government officials were involved in leaking the private information of the victims. Most cases are filed against family members, and such cases get dropped even before a trial, as male members of the family represent females. Patriarchy reigns in its real sense as women comparatively have nominal opportunities in Pakistan.

Abstract:
Psychological issues are commonly encountered within sexual health. They may be as a result of embarrassment or anxiety regarding the consultation/examination/procedure or due to being given a diagnosis, suffering a chronic or recurrent problem, or concern about a possible diagnosis. Mental illness can contribute to sexual dysfunction and vice versa. This chapter discusses psychosexual problems and sexual dysfunction in men and women, and how best to manage them. People living with HIV have a high prevalence of mental illness and people with mental illness are at increased risk of HIV acquisition. Stigma and isolation are commonly experienced amongst people with HIV and a multidisciplinary approach with psychology, social work, peer support is important for providing holistic care.

Abstract:
Anita R. Fedor- Renáta J. Erdei Abstract The focus of our research is labor market integration and the related issues like learning motivation, value choices, health status, family formation and work attitudes. The research took place in the North Great Plain Region – Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, Nyíregyháza, Nyíregyháza region, Debrecen, Cigánd district (exception), we used the Debrecen and the national database of the Graduate Tracking System. Target groups: 18-70 year-old age group, women and women raising young children, 15-29 year-old young age group, high school students (graduate ones) fresh university graduates. The theorethical frameworks of the precariate research is characterized by a multi-disciplinar approach, as this topic has sociological, economic, psychological, pedagogical, legal and health aspects. Our aim is to show whether There is relevance between the phenomenon of precariate and labor market disadvantage and how individual insecurity factors affect a person’s presence in the labor market. How the uncertainties in the workplace appear in different regions and social groups by expanding the theoretical framework.According to Standing precariate is typical to low gualified people. But I would like to see if it also typical to highly qualifiled young graduates with favourable conditions. It is possible or worth looking for a way out of the precarious lifestyle (often caused by objective reasons) by combining and using management and education. Are there definite features in the subjective state of health of groups with classic precariate characteristics? Results The research results demonstrate that the precarious characteristics can be extended, they are multi-dimensional.The personal and regional risk factors of labor market exclusion can develop both in different regions and social groups. Precarized groups cannot be connected exclusively to disadvantaged social groups, my research has shown that precarious characteristics may also appear, and the process of precarization may also start among highly qualified people. Precariate is a kind of subjective and collective crisis. Its depth largely depends on the economic environment, the economic and social policy, and the strategy and cultural conditions of the region. The results show, that the subjective health of classical precar groups is worse than the others.
