Abstract:
A framework for studying teachers’ hand gestures in instrumental music pedagogy is proposed, focusing on teachers’ teaching behaviours as a context-dependent basis for understanding the meaning and functionality of their gestures. The application of the Teacher Behaviour and Gesture framework across instrumental music pedagogical settings (one-to-one, small and large teaching groups and across singing, woodwind, brass, strings, and other pedagogical contexts) will bring understandings on the role of teachers’ gestures in their pedagogical interactions with students, with implications for stude

Erasmus is famous as the humanist scholar who helped shape what became modem education. W. H. Woodward and Erika Rummel have written standard works on his life and teachings, and others offer nuanced analysis. This article hopes to fill a small gap in Erasmus studies in that his “philosophy of Christ”, which finds its roots in the Early Church Fathers, is directly related to his pedagogy.

This work approaches orality as an educational principle of the pedagogy of the griot from the memories of the quilombola community Remanso / BA. Its main objective is to analyze the importance of the oral tradition for the maintenance of collective memory and the identity of the group in the narratives of the protagonists of the Trail Griô do Quilombo, in the light of literacy practices and events. Memory, identity, and oral tradition of teachings emerge as major categories that give shape to discussions about griot pedagogy. It is a study that is based on the principles of qualitative resear

This case study explored pre-service teachers’ (PSTs) efforts to consider the integration of digital technology as they learned to use their developing TPACK to plan literacy instruction. PSTs were introduced to the Technology Integration Planning Cycle (TIPC; Hutchison & Woodward, 2014) to support their learning. They observed modeling of the TIPC in practice, participated in group work, and discussed meaningful technology integration. The findings suggest that PSTs: (a) used new knowledge of digital tools to plan instruction, (b) could align their pedagogy to their use of a digital tool,

Usually, a literature search is a benign phase of the research regime. It was, however, during this phase on my current project where a semi-conscious pique I’d been feeling developed into an obvious rancour. Because I’ve been involved in both electronic production and consumption, and the pedagogy surrounding it, I was interested in how the literate domain was coping with the transformations coming out of the new media communications r/evolution. This concern became clearer with the reading and re-reading of Kathleen Tyner’s book, Literacy in a Digital World: Teaching and Learning in the Age

Yvonne Desportes (1907-1993) was an influential female composer, teacher, and music theorist. abstract: Until the second half of the 20th century, publications on breathing techniques for woodwinds have been scarce and often failed to adequately address this aspect of performance and pedagogy. It is through various sensory experiences and because of recent technological advances that academics recognize a gap in the existing literature and have since included studies using various methods, as well as modern technical devices and experiments into the woodwind literature and teaching. These studies have proven to be of great importance to confirm ideas and hypotheses on the matter. The
