Abstract:
This paper develops a Marxist analysis of the relationships between class position, work experience, the psychological effects of this experience, and subsequent health outcomes. Specifically, it is argued that the structural imperatives of capitalist production make work for those in working-class positions subject to greater routinization and less control than work for those in other class positions. Routinization and control are argued, in turn, to predictably affect two key psychological variables, self-esteem and stress, which are further argued to affect health in predictable ways. Posit

The background of this research is because there is gender inequality experienced by women in a story, they often become objects that are cornered and are always considered to be wrong. The purpose of this study is to find out how gender equality is represented through critical discourse analysis by Sara Mills on the stories contained in the novel Air Mata Maharani; the position of the subject-object and the position of the reader, then analyzed based on the form of gender equality. There are five forms of gender equality, namely; subordination, gender stereotypes, double burden, marginalizati

Introduction: The industry in Indonesia is still experiencing a rapid development. Woven craft one of the thriving informal sector businesses in Tasikmalaya Regency. Each stage of work on making bamboo woven crafts is done in a way that is not ergonomic, especially in the working position, namely how to sit or squat on the floor with the head and back bent. This condition can cause musculoskeletal disorders. The results of risk analysis showed that the job position that belongs to a high-risk category must be controlled immediately. Based on the geometrical description of work-pieces cutting process, the time-varying differential equations of deflection curve under two different conditions were obtained using the singular function: one with thimble and one without thimble constraint. Using the Mathcad software, we have solved the time-varying differential equations analytically and have studied the deflection changing of work piece with the position of turning tool and given the distribution characteristic for the time-varying deflection of each section. The results indicate that (1) the deflection of an arbitrary section

Work productivity can decrease if a worker suffers from musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Ergonomic review study so that MSDs can be prevented or minimized. The study examined MSDs in ABK operating purse seine fishing gear. The method used in this study is the WERA (Workplace Ergonomic Risk Assessment) method. The results of the study obtained the risk level in 3 work positions with a medium level and one work position at a low level. The score at the medium level is between 39 and 42 scores, while the score for the low level itself is at 27. The highest score is in the stern work position wit

This study examined an untested proposition of the theory that position tenure, a situational variable, affects the relative importance of CEO work roles. Results suggest there are clear differences in the relative importance of three work roles that can be attributed to position tenure. An evolutionary pattern of work role importance based on CEO tenure also surfaced. Moreover, two recommendations for executive development programs are proffered b

Although largely espoused by contemporary organizations, implementing sustainability is often vague and ineffective. In contrast to most studies that employ resource-based or institutional perspectives to study sustainable organizing, we draw on discursive positioning theory to examine how sustainability practitioners make sense of and enact their work on the ground. Interviewing 45 practitioners and analyzing 35 curriculum vitae (CVs), we traced four subject positions – discovery, enlightenment, legitimacy, and consumption – constructed via 12 discursive resources.
