Worker productivity is an important part of the successful development of human resources and infrastructure building. One of the ways to improve workers’ productivity is using training and worker certification. Therefore, there is a need to analyze the effects of training and certification on worker productivity with case study lightweight brick and steel rods workers in some projects in Palembang. This study aims to analyze the productivity value of workers between certified trained workers (TS) and untrained noncertified workers (BTBS) in the field. Furthermore, comparisons were also conduc

This Review proceeds as follows. Part I summarizes The Age of Dignity. Part II explains how this segment of immigrant workers challenges the productivity/affinity binary that dominates immigration law’s formal migration rules. Part III shows how this binary sets up dual migration streams, both of which could account for future flows of care workers. As Part III shows, the example of the eldercare industry nicely illustrates how the employment based and family-based migration systems simply represent two different ways of filling labor needs. It is a well-established fact that increasing firms’ productivity is a necessary step to achieve sustainable growth and development. In fact, low levels of productivity, in particular in the registered manufacturing sector, represent a major challenge for the Indian economy. Abstract:
We look at the possible channels in which self-employment can harm productivity outcomes in the Andean region and the motivations that incentive workers to opt for self-employment. We estimate quantile regressions with the purpose of identifying whether there is a monetary income premium for those at self-employment compared to wage earners at various levels of income. We find that there is a negative income premium for self-employed workers at the bottom 25% of the income distribution in the Andean countries, except for Venezuela, where although there is a positive income premium, the magnitu

Abstract:
We study the effects of dual labor markets (i.e. the co-existence of fixed-term and open-ended contracts) on the allocation of workers within and across firms, the equilibrium distribution of firms, aggregate productivity, and welfare. Using rich Spanish administrative data, we document that the use of fixed-term contracts is very heterogeneous across firms within narrowly defined sectors. In particular, there is a strong relationship between the share of temporary workers and firm size, which is positive when looking at within-firm variation but negative when looking at the variation between

Abstract:
We present a unified technological explanation of both the movement of workers across jobs using different skills and the changes in skill use within jobs. An envelope-theorem approach allows us to estimate relative skill-productivity growth from worker mobility using OLS while making minimal assumptions on each occupation's production function. Using six decades of data, we conclude that routine-cognitive- and finger-dexterity-skill productivity grew rapidly and abstract- and social-skill productivity grew slowly - a form of "skill bias." These effects, along with our estimated relationships
