The writings of early taekwondo pioneers promote peace through the practice of the martial art and, later, the combat sport. These pioneers charged taekwondo practitioners with a duty to contribute to justice, defend the weak, and build a more peaceful world. National and international taekwondo organizations such as the Kukkiwon, World Taekwondo (WT), and the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) have taken up the charge of peace promotion through taekwondo by means of transnational events, such as goodwill tours and joint taekwondo demonstrations by adversarial states (e.g., South and North Korea). These activities are soft diplomacy initiatives and have seen some level of success. While these soft diplomacy activities are in line with the goal of peace promotion that the early pioneers advocated, they are qualitatively different from what the pioneers advocated. Originally, the responsibility of peace promotion was on the individual taekwondo practitioner, who ought to cultivate moral character, courage, and martial art skill in order to uphold justice and defend the weak. With the current use of taekwondo for soft diplomacy, the responsibility of peace promotion has shifted from the individual practitioner to the governing bodies, such as WT and the ITF. Instead of focusing on issues surrounding justice and the protection of the weak, these national and international organizations focus on geopolitical cooperation, which is mediated through cultural exchange activities in the form of taekwondo demonstrations. These events involve activities such as acrobatic performances, dance routines, and board breaking that require little combat skill and may not pose the risk of serious injury to the individual practitioners, mainstays of the individual heroes of old. The charge to safeguard justice and physically defend the weak, which are acts of true courage as was envisioned by the taekwondo pioneers, is mostly ignored.

Taekwondo has always aroused an enormous interest among all the categories of citizens, but particularly among the young people. In 2013, the World Taekwondo Federation has counted 205 member countries and over 6 million active practitioners, while the world population practicing taekwondo has been estimated at 55 million practitioners. This study is based on records and video analysis of matches, captured and processed with Dartfish TV - Video Software Solution analysis software and visualized through SilverLight_x64.exe program. So, we analyzed 599 matches, among which 331 represented men’s events and 268 women’s events performed, during the 2012 World Junior Championship held in Egypt. The video analysis points to the fact that the most frequent rules violations are touching the fighting area deliberately or after the execution of a technical action, holding the opponent, getting out of the fighting area voluntarily or involuntarily. A 5%, that we consider significant, is represented by matches lost by accumulation of penalties. In conclusion, we believe that video analysis is one of the most advanced technologies, that can be successfully used in the sport training, as it helps maximizing the training process.

Taekwondo merupakan salah satu olahraga bela diri yang dipertandingkan. Kemenangan dalam pertandingan tergantung dari skor yang diperoleh masing-masing atlet. Aplikasi perhitungan skor dalam olahraga taekwondo merupakan sarana untuk membantu wasit dalam melakukan penilaian yang disesuaikan dengan peraturan dari WTF (World Taekwondo Federation). Aplikasi ini terdiri dari proses dengan perhitungan 3 wasit dan 4 wasit. Pada proses perhitungan 3 wasit jika dua atau lebih wasit memberikan skor yang sama maka skor dapat dihitung, sedangkan proses perhitungan dengan 4 wasit jika tiga atau lebih wasit memberikan skor yang sama maka skor dapat dihitung. Dengan menerapkan konsep probablilitas sebagai acuan dalam pembuatan aplikasi ini, perhitungan jumlah skor yang keluar bergantung pada jumlah wasit. Apabila jumlah wasit 3 maka total probabilitas skor yang keluar sebanyak 27 kali dan diringkas menjadi 5 probabilitas kejadian yang sama, sedangkan apabila jumlah wasit 4 maka total probabilitas skor yang keluar sebanyak 81 kali dan diringkas menjadi 8 probabilitas kejadian yang sama.

In 2004, since his presidency, the new chairman of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Dr. Chungwon Choue established a reform committee in complying with the requirements of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the selection of Olympic event. In order to identify the reform performance of WTF, the purpose of this study referred the organization management related concepts, such as organization governance, organization reform and its effectiveness concepts as well as adopted document analysis research method, to analyze WTF official assembly reports from 2008-2017 to identify the reform performance of WTF. We find that the main reason of WTF’s reforming is the pressure from IOC. WTF organization reforming complies with its planning reform and changing its structure by external changes. Amending members’ qualification to increases the number of members. Amending competition rules and operational technical improve the competition qualities. Improving international development and marking spreads Taekwondo activity around world. Nowadays, organization reform has become a part of WTF’s organization culture. The recommendations of this study include: the effectiveness of the new WTF policy can be observed in practice. The successful experience of the WTF reform can be referred to assist its national members for their organizational reform While the recommendations for further researches include: on the financial issues of the World Taekwondo Federation, the performance of using its funds; the economic and non-economic impacts studies of the organization reform of the World Taekwondo Federation on its national members

Title: Comparison and characterization of Korean martial arts Taekwon-do ITF and Taekwondo WTF Objectives: In this work will be examined charakteristic of sport disciplines, philosophy, success in competitions of czech competitiors Methods: For the development of this theses was used a method of gathering information of these two federations of Czech and foreign literature. Results: It was found that Taekwon-do ITF is a martial art, which consists five sport's disciplines and our representatives from year 2000 at european championships won 237 and at world championships won 61 medals. WTF Taekwondo is a combat sport and the main discipline is Kyorugi (sparring). Kyorugi is the Olympics. Our representatives in WTF Taekwondo from year 2000 won only 5 medals at european champinships. Taekwondo competition rules have been changed more than ten times, the electronic body protector has been adjusted many times as well. World Taekwondo Federation hopes they can make those competitions more fair and bring more and more people watch. This paper is about three electronic body protector manufacturers, Lajust, Daedo, and KP&P, using literature analysis, interviews, and comparison and contrast. I have reached four conclusions. First, Lajust and KP&P are Korean companies. Deado is from Spain. Lajust was certified by the Federation from 2007 to 2010. Deado and KP&P are certified from this year until 2020. The guards made by all three companies use Bluetooth to send scoring messages. Second, Deado has been used the most in important events. Lajust has been used only once at the Guangzhou Asian Games. Third, the electronic transmitter is in the chest guard in the products of all three companies. The scoring sensor is in the electronic socks. The socks made by Deado and KP&P are better because they are adjustable for ankle size. Finally, the scoring software by KP&P is the best because it has a lifetime authorization, and after it is purchased, the user can use the KP&P website to update the software.
