Abstract:
Immediate burn wound care is a critical factor influencing the outcomes of burn treatment. In this study, we developed a spray-type alginate hydrogel dressing that promotes wound healing, reduces pain, and increases the convenience of use in a burn treatment emergency. We investigated the efficiency of newly developed spray-type alginate hydrogel dressing on the wound healing process. We investigated the efficacy of the alginate hydrogel dressing for wound healing in 30 Sprague Dawley rats. Four deep, round second-degree burn wounds (diameter, 1.5 cm) were created bilaterally on the dorsum of

Abstract Stress corrosion cracking resistance and crevice corrosion resistance are important characteristics for alloys used in sour environments. When crevice corrosion occurs, crevice corrosion would enhance the initiation of stress corrosion cracking. In this study, effect of the presence of crevice in 4 point bent beam specimen are discussed. Abstract This paper discusses Mobil Oil Indonesia Inc. (MOI)'s experience with simulation of future wellbore corrosion in actual wells under production. The work was done to complement results of a three-year study, where future wellbore corrosion was modelled in laboratory simulated Arun Field type wellbore environments. In the Arun Field, the wellbore environment is constantly changing with time, due to continuing exploitation of the field and associated depletion of the reservoir. In particular, the reservoir pressure has been gradually decreasing, resulting in lower wellhead pressures and

Abstract Corrosion protection was always an important part of industrial development. The use of oil- and solvent-based products in the preservation of metal has been a common practice for over one hundred years. While these products may offer good corrosion protection, they often contain hazardous ingredients and are non-degradable. A number of regulations were implemented recently for the protection of the environment. The most known among them are North Sea (UK, Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands) and US Gulf Coast lists of the chemicals environmentally acceptable in these regions, limiting t

Abstract Biocorrosion is also known as microbial corrosion and microbiologically influenced (or induced) corrosion (MIC). Biofilms are responsible for MIC. At least three different types of MIC can be defined. Type I MIC involves microbes such as sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB), nitrate/nitrite reducing bacteria (NRB) and methanogens, which are collectively called “XRB,” in which “X” stands for sulfate, nitrate, nitrite, CO2 or another non-oxygen oxidant and “B” for bugs that include prokaryotes, archaea and eucaryotes. Control by vaccination of commercial flocks with an inactivated vaccine has been introduced since 2007.
