Abstract:
Selon l'auteur (p. 1), "the kind of language that must be taken to be the common origin for related words and similar phonetic and grammatical features in the Romance languages is often noticeably different from Classical Latin, as reflected in the works of Cicero or Virgil".

Lundberg, Mikael, and Petter Renberg. Thesis, Umeå University, Umeå School of Business, 2007. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:umu:diva-1444.

Abstract:

Abstract:
ABSTRACT In 2017–2018, two fine arts undergraduate students, Todd Rowan and Moesha Wright, conceived and created a mural for the Dunn-Seiler Museum at Mississippi State University, Mississippi, USA, under the supervision of art professor emeritus Brent Funderburk. Students researched, conceptualized, and painted Mississippi Cretaceous Panorama, which interpreted the Late Cretaceous landscape that once surrounded the university and the momentous extinction event that brought the Mesozoic Era to its close. The project necessitated creativity to address several chal lenges, including funding, space constraints, and a local population with Young Earth views. The completed mural engages museum visitors with a mosasaur, ceratopsian dinosaur, and a meteorite impact—illustrating the local, terminal Mesozoic geologic history in a nonthreatening venue that can improve community geoliteracy.

Abstract:
One of the most successful and useful implementations of 3D virtual worlds is in the area of education and training. This paper discusses the use of virtual worlds in education and describes an innovative 3D visualization design project using one of the most popular virtual worlds, Second Life. This ongoing project is a partnership between IBM and three universities in the United States: the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Iowa State University, and Wright State University. More than 400 MBA students have participated in this project by completing a creative design project that involves co-creation and collaboration in Second Life. The MBA students from the three universities worked in pairs to create designs to represent concepts related to IBM Power Systems, a family of IBM servers. The paper discusses observations and reflections on the 3D visualization design project. The paper concludes with a discussion of future research directions in applying virtual worlds in education.

Abstract:
The University of Michigan is leading a team that includes subcontractors Ohio State University, Aquaveo, LLC, and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute to design, implement, and test an Environmental and Ship Motion Forecasting (ESMF) system. The system has application to many challenges associated with offshore operations, including skin-to-skin transfer of cargo/personnel and extreme wave/response prediction. Briefly, the system uses a modified commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) Doppler marine radar to determine the wave field surrounding the vessel; nonlinear wave theory to propagate the wave surface forward in time; and seakeeping theory to predict future vessel motions. A major challenge is that all computations must be done in real time. This paper will briefly describe the system and show an example application of predicting extreme waves and motions for a floating offshore type platform.
