Abstract:
This thesis argues that screenplays have, throughout their history, been overlooked, undervalued, and misrepresented in ways that obscure them as works of creative writing. Restoring writing and creativity to the definition and analysis of screenplays, against metaphors that reduce them to industrial or technical documents, the thesis also contends with discourses that nominate screenwriting a lesser kind of writing than literary writing, writing that is not meant to be read; a formulaic mode of writing without agency, voice, complexity, or distinctiveness; a fixed and limited writing that is

Abstract:
Hench, by being set in the espionage genre, and following the henchman of an evil villain, offers a commentary on the modern working world by serving as a metaphor for the corporate workplace. The film follows a lowly henchman, Hank, who learns to challenge this corporate structure by achieving self-respect, thanks to an unlikely friendship with a James-Bond-esque agent. This creative explication explains how Hench achieves commentary on how large corporate structures operate to maintain control over employees, and the effects this has on individuals. It further highlights the tools and techni

Abstract:
Oleander is a screenplay and exegesis that explores how the supernatural drama contributes to a deeper understanding of contemporary feature writing. The central theorists of the feature film, represented here by McKee, Seger, Vogler and Hauge, have created a robust model built around a three act structure, an inciting incident and clear challenge pursued and resolved by a protagonist. The thesis argues that the supernatural drama also calls for the logical treatment of the supernatural element, its managed concealment and its step by step revelation as part of the story development. &quotNot Welcome" is a thesis containing an original dark genre screenplay called Acolytes and an exegesis called &quotNot Welcome": Writing Horror in Australia. The screenplay is about two boys, victims of years of bullying, who find a way to rid themselves of their bully for good, exchanging one problem for something much worse. But it's an elaborate and calculated lie. The truth is Acolytes is about the concealment of a crime and not the vengeance of a victim. Acolytes is intentionally moody, oppressive and obtuse--it has a true crime-scene ambience. The power of the story lies in its tr

The screenplay for a narrative film is the key starting point in the development process, and writing a feature length screenplay is a particularly grueling process. This thesis traces my efforts to write a full, strong draft of a feature length screenplay, from conception to the current draft. The essay catalogs the notes I received on the screenplay, as well as my own ideas for changes and developments as I wrote the screenplay. After the essay, the current (as of this date, May of 2012) draft of the screenplay is attached as a presentation of my work reflected in the essay.

The importance of knowledge transfer inside organizations is an undisputable fact, which got the attention of managers in recent decades. One of the most important reasons that make the knowledge transfer a compulsory task is the danger of its loss. I assert and the findings presented in this dissertation offer evidence that students’ VNOS are dynamic and context-based. In this research I used filmmaking to explore students’ VNOS.
