Abstract:
AbstrakPada komunikasi VoIP (Voice Over IP) kualitas suara dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor salah satunya yaitu kualitas server. Pemilihan platform PC atau server yang cocok (baik dari segi harga maupun kinerja) merupakan persoalan utama dalam membangun jaringan VoIP. Kinerja server yang jelek akan menurunkan kualitas suara atau bahkan tidak mampu untuk menghubungkan antar pengguna.Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian terhadap kinerja wireless access point Linksys WRT54GL yang dimanfaatkan sebagai VoIP server. Pengujian dilakukan untuk mengetahui berapa banyak panggilan VoIP yang mampu dilayani oleh wireless access point sebagai VoIP server serta berapa waktu yang diperlukan oleh server tersebut untuk dapat memproses setiap sinyal SIP maupun paket RTP. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian yang dilakukan, VoIP server pada wireless access point mampu melayani komunikasi VoIP dengan baik untuk jumlah panggilan yang sedikit sehingga layak diimplementasikan pada penggunaan skala kecil. Penggunaan metode Native Bridging dalam penanganan media yang dilakukan oleh server dapat meningkatkan jumlah panggilan yang mampu dilayani sebesar 3 hingga 7 kali dibandingkan dengan metode lainnya. Kata kunci—VoIP, Asterisk, Acess Point, WRT54GL, OpenWRT, Kinerja AbstractVoice quality on VoIP communication is caused by many factors, one of which is the quality of the server. Choosing PC platform or server which is suitable is the main issue in developing VoIP network. A bad server performance or not equivalent with the most of users will degrade the sound quality or even not able to connect between users.Tthe test carried out to the performance of the wireless access point Linksys WRT54GL which is used as a VoIP server. The test was carried out to determine how many VoIP calls which are able to be serviced by a wireless access point as a VoIP server and how long the server needs to be able to process every signal of SIP and RTP packet.Based on the test result performed, the VoIP server on the wireless access point is able to serve VoIP communication well for a few calls number, so it is worth to be implemented on the use of small scale. The use of Native Bridging method in handling the media performed by the server can increase the number of calls that were able to be served about 3 to 7 times compared with other methods. Abstract:
Este artigo aborda uma aplicação que pode prover tanto mobilidade quanto acesso a diversos serviços hoje encontrados em um PABX tradicional. De forma prática, está descrito o procedimento para implementação de um PABX Asterisk embarcado em um access point com uso de licença pública, bem como a escolha de hardware, atualização de firmware, verificação da integridade do conteúdo através de MD5, instalação do Linux, instalação de alguns serviços do Asterisk, configuração de provedor VoIP e, ainda, expansão da memória física do equipamento. O sistema foi instalado em um roteador wireless Lynksys modelo WRT54GL, o qual além de se tornar um servidor de voz, mantém suas características básicas, quais sejam: servidor de DHCP, roteador LAN, roteador wireless e gateway.

Resumen El crecimiento de firmware en Linux, ha llegado a desarrollar varias herramientas que permitan adaptar equipos inalámbricos a las necesidades de sus compradores. Así mismo la facilidad de acceder a la documentación y soporte que se prestan en Internet con referente a estos sistemas es suficiente, para las personas que tengan poco conocimiento y deseen implementar estas herramientas. Por lo anterior se inicia con la actividad de consultar en la región, sobre implementaciones de sistemas embebidos en Linux para router inalámbricos, pero los resultados fueron negativos, Eso da paso a que surja una investigación en Internet de sistemas embebidos para Linux y por ende innovar con la instalación del DD-WRT y algunos servicios de red en un dispositivo Linksys WRT54GL. Con los pasos anteriores, de este artículo, se espera que sea el inicio para que otras personas hagan uso de estas herramientas, que no solo están en el área de las comunicaciones, sino incursionando en los hogares, y que buscan beneficios de tipo: económico, colaborativo, y una adecuada utilización recursos. Abstract:
This master thesis presents, examines, designs, implements, and evaluates with respect to energy efficiency a secure and robust VoIP system. This system utilizes a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) infrastructure assisted by a cloud service, specifically focusing on small to medium sized enterprises (SME) and homes. This research focuses on using inexpensive, flexible, commodity embedded hardware (specifically a Linksys WRT54GL wireless router for the local site with a customized operating system, specifically DD-WRT). The idea is to reduce the local site's power consumption to very low levels by examining which functions can be done in a cloud service rather than at the local site. The thesis presents the design of a low-power IP telephony system for the local site and the cloud site. A number of different usage scenarios and desirable features are described. The methodology for conducting a set of experiments is defined to perform stress-testing and to evaluate the low- power IP telephony system's design. The experiments concern the overall power consumption of the local site under various configurations, the VPN link's call capacity, the QoS metrics for the VoIP calls, the session request delay (SRD) and the registration request delay (RRD). The results from these experiments show that there is a potential for significant power savings when using the proposed design for an IP telephony system.
Detta examensarbete presenterar, undersöker, utformar, implementerar, och försöker att utvärdera ett säkert och robust VoIP-system med energieffektivitet. Detta system använder en Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-infrastruktur med hjälp av en molntjänst med särskild inriktning på, små, och medelstora företag (SME) och hemmanvändare. Denna forskning fokuserar att använda en prisvärt, billig, flexibel, med program inbyggd hårdvara (speciellt en Linksys WRT54GL trådlös router för den lokala platsen med ett anpassat operativsystem DD-WRT). Tanken är att minska energiförbrukningen på, den lokala platsen till mycket låga nivåer genom att undersöka vilka funktioner, som kan köras på, ett molntjnst snarare än på, den lokala platsen. Avhandlingen presenterar utformningen av ett IP-telefonisystem på, den lokala platsen med ett lågt strömbehov och på, molntjänsten. Ett antal olika användningsförhållanden och önskvärda egenskaper är beskrivna. Metodiken för att genomföra en rad experiment definieras för att utföra stresstester och för att utvärdera designen av IP-telefonisystem med ett lågt effektbehov. I försöken experimenteras den totala energiförbrukningen av den lokala platsen under olika konfigurationer, VPN-länkens samtalskapacitet, QoS-mätning för VoIP-samtal, Session Request Delay (SRD) och Registration Request Delay (RRD). Resultaten från dessa experiment visar att det finns en potential för betydande energibesparing när du använder den föreslagna designen för en IP-telefoni system.
