Abstract:

<p>In today’s society, serious organizations need protection against both internal and external attacks. There are many different technologies available that organizations can incorporate into their organization in order to enhance security for their networking applications. Unfortunately, security is way to often considered as an afterthought and therefore implemented as an external part of the applications. This is usually performed by introducing general security models and technologies.</p><p>However, an already developed, well structured and considered security approach – with proper implementation of security services and mechanisms – different security models can be used to apply security</p><p>within the security perimeter of an organization. It can range from built into the application to the edge of a private network, e.g. an appliance. No matter the choice, the involved people must possess security expertise to deploy the proposed security models in this paper, that have the soul purpose to secure applications.</p><p>By using the Recommendation X.800 as a comparison framework, the proposed models will be analyzed in detail and evaluated of how they provide the security services concerned in X.800. By reasoning about what security services that ought to be implemented in order to prevent or detect diverse security attacks, the organization needs to carry out a security plan and have a common understanding of the deﬁned security policies.</p><p>An interesting ﬁnding during our work was that, using a methodology that leads to low KLOC-values results in high security, though low KLOC-values and high security go hand-in-hand.</p>

Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited<br>This thesis analyzes the feasibility, functionality, efficacy and usability of IEEE 802.x wireless mesh networks in multiple DoD contexts. Through multiple field and lab experiments and hardware investigations, an assessment is performed on the realistic implementation issues of wireless mesh networks and their possible applications. A detailed examination is conducted of the variable elements, operational constraints, and possible decision points for developing a usable, robust, self-organizing, wireless mesh network that can be leveraged for maximum usability and shared situational awareness in network-centric operations. The research investigates the suitability of currently available COTS hardware and software wireless mesh networking components for geographically distributed networks. Additionally, a product-line software architecture and a common data interchange XML vocabulary are proposed as the enabling technology elements to carry application layer mesh forward for integration of collaborative sensor-decision maker adaptive networks within the Global Information Grid. The thesis includes the design and implementation of the first Naval Postgraduate School testbed for tactical level mesh networking with unmanned vehicles, unattended sensors, and warrior networking nodes. Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited<br>The objective of this research is to analyze the network performance and sensor functionality, efficacy and usability of IEEE 802.x wireless MESH networks within a DoD Tactical network environment. Multiple sensor configurations operating with wireless MESH network technologies will be researched and analyzed for performance in expeditionary environment situations. Specifically, this thesis will attempt establish the foundation for the development of wireless MESH "network health" models by examining the performance of sensors operating within a MESH network and define which network performance metrics equate to good quality of service. This research will experiment with different application, sensor, and network configurations of currently available COTS components, such as, voice, video and data hardware. This thesis will lay the groundwork for wireless network MESH predictability, which will enable the optimal use of sensors within a tactical network environment.<br>Lieutenant Commander, United States Navy

The objective of this research is to identify the internal control activities that may be necessary for the IFRS 15 adoption in consulting outsorced services companies. To reach the main objective, two secondary objectives was traced: (1) the crictical review ex ante the IFRS 15 impact over the internal control environment in oder to offer insights for the organizations that intend to addopt IFRS 15; and (2) build na Internal Control Matrix for consulting outsorced companies when IFRS 15 is addopted. The objectives were reached through literature review of classic authors as well as scientific research for objective 1 and focus group for objective 2. The conclusion is that the differences between IFRS 15 and actual practices for revenue recognition are pretty close and there is the need for few controls to be implemented for the IFRS 15 adoption, however these controls although are not complex and difficult to be implemented, are high risk and essencial for the accurate revenue recognition.Besides attending all proposed objectives, this researh brings as a ontribution the development of a theme where academic research is scarce throught a real problem on outsorced services companies, where the benefits are not only a internal control matrix, but the real concern on implementing internal controls around a relevant standard as revenue recognition, that can cause relevant impacts on companies P&L.<br>Com a mudan??a do cen??rio normativo para o reconhecimento de receita em fun????o da norma IFRS 15 que entra em vigor a partir do dia primeiro de janeiro de 2018 h?? a necessidade de que os controles internos ao redor do reconhecimento de receita sejam ajustados para que o ambiente de controles seja aderente a nova norma. O objetivo deste trabalho ?? identificar os ajustes ??s atividades de controles internos que podem ser necess??rios quando da ado????o da norma IFRS 15 em empresas de presta????o de servi??os. Para o atingimento deste objetivo foram tra??ados dois objetivos espec??ficos, que s??o (1) a realiza????o de revis??o cr??tica ex ante os impactos do IFRS 15 nos sistemas de controles de forma a oferecer insights para as organiza????es adotantes desta norma; e (2) desenvolver uma Internal Control Matrix para a utiliza????o em empresas de presta????o de servi??os de consultoria quando da ado????o da norma IFRS 15. Os objetivos foram atingidos atrav??s de revis??o bibliogr??fica cr??tica a respeito de autores cl??ssicos e pesquisas cient??ficas para o objetivo espec??fico 1 bem como com a realiza????o de focus group para atender o objetivo 2. No. of bitstreams: 0<br>A calibração, por definição, é o processo pelo qual se estabelece uma relação entre valores de medição de um padrão, com as suas respectivas incertezas, e as indicações com as incertezas associadas do instrumento de medição a ser calibrado. Um protocolo de calibração descreve a metodologia a ser aplicada em um processo de calibração. O método escolhido para a obtenção deste protocolo foi o da espectrometria de feixe de raios X associada à simulação pelo método de Monte Carlo, fundamentado no fato de que ambos são considerados métodos absolutos na determinação de parâmetros de feixes de radiação. Neste trabalho foi utilizado o método de Monte Carlo utilizado para obter a função resposta do detector utilizada para a correção dos espectros obtidos do feixe primário de radiação X; deste modo foram calculadas as taxas de kerma destes feixes e comparadas aos valores obtidos com as câmaras de ionização padrão secundário do Laboratório de Calibração de Instrumentos do IPEN (LCI/IPEN). Foram obtidos os coeficientes de calibração para o sistema padrão com diferenças em relação ao fornecido pelo laboratório primário entre 1,3% e 15,3%. Os resultados obtidos indicaram a viabilidade do estabelecimento deste protocolo de calibração utilizando a espectrometria como padrão de referência, com incertezas relativas de 0,62% para k=1. Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the design of three length standards, which will serve to ensure metrological traceability between Rigaku nano3DX, SIOS NMM-1, Zeiss UPMC Carat 850 and other devices located at ÚVSSR BUT and CEITEC Brno. The first part of the thesis focuses on the theoretical acquaintance with concepts closely related to the issue of ensuring metrological traceability. In addition, this section deals with computed tomography and the description of individual devices. The second part of the thesis is devoted to design, production process and testing of individual standards. The last part describes the ensuring the calibration of the smallest standard, the so-called Nano standard and the calculation of the uncertainty of measuring its calibrated length. At the end of the thesis, the outputs of these activities are evaluated.
