Abstract:
Abstract Bifaji 筆法記 by Jing Hao 荊浩 (ca. 855–915) is one of the most critical writings on painting in the Chinese art tradition. It reflects the shifting artistic trends of the late Tang and Five Dynasties periods from portraits to landscapes and from color to ink and wash. The emphasis on zhen (眞, “genuineness”) as an aesthetic goal in Bifaji is an essential feature in its discourse on the nature of painting. This essay explores the concept of zhen as an ideal state of pictorial reality in Bifaji. Illuminating the meaning of zhen is vital to understanding Jing Hao's and his contemporaries' artistic aspirations. Considering its aesthetic connotations reveals zhen in Bifaji to be multivalent, involving a number of qualities required for the creation of a landscape painting, from the observation of nature to the method of brush technique. To elucidate the aesthetic ideals of Bifaji, this paper examines the relationship between the concept of zhen and other key terms such as qiyun (氣韻, “character”), qishi (氣勢, “dynamic configuration”), and xiang (象, “image”) along with the additional conceptual layer of qi applied in the Six Essentials (Liuyao 六要) and the Four Forces (Sishi 四勢).

Abstract:
Chinese dramas, in recent years, have gained popularity in the international market. To be precise, historical dramas have a market that has increased year by year since 2017. This thesis is about Confucian virtues found in four women characters in a historical Chinese drama titled The Sword and The Brocade. This television drama intrigues the writer to analyze four women characters Luo Shi Yi Niang, Qiao Lian Fang, Madam Xu, and Xiang Yi Zhen in the story because The Sword and The Brocade shows the dynamic relationship between the women characters and the plot is wrapped in historical settings but with modern perspective. This thesis aims to find out how the female characters’ actions reflect Confucian virtues and what the impacts of the reflected actions are for them. The analysis is based on Confucianism; focusing on five Confucian virtues: loyalty, filial piety, wisdom, benevolence, and harmony. Moreover, the analysis begins with the women’s way to express the Confucian virtues within their actions and then moves to how the actions from reflecting the virtues impacted their life. From expressing loyalty to harmony, Luo Shi Yi Niang, Qiao Lian Fang, Madam Xu, and Xiang Yi Zhen get positive changes in their lives like getting a new status, achieving their goals, making their family proud, and getting positive aftermath from their past actions. The finding is these women prove that women can gain benefits from Confucianism that is known to be patriarchal and these women are the example of how ancient belief can be modernized to suit nowadays’ modern issues and the story is suitable for everyone and in every era.

CHO, Nam Ho. "The Syncretic Character of Zhan Ruo-Shui's Philosophy in the Point of it's Critic by Luo Qin-Shun." Tae Dong Institute of classic research 48 (June 30, 2022): 301–28. http://dx.doi.org/10.31408/tdicr.2022.48.301.

Abstract:
In one word, Luo Qin-shun criticized the philosophical syncretic attitude of Zhan Ruo-Shui as being similar to Yang Xiong and despised that Zhan Ruo-Shui was inferior to Yang Xiong. Yang Xiong made a third claim that good and evil coexist. Yang Xiong was criticized for his half-hearted attitude that none of these occasional thoughts could be determined. Luo, Qin-Shun criticized Zhan, Ruo-Shui for presenting a third eclectic plan, but rather for his own motive, he insisted on an eclectic combination of Chen, Xian-Zhang and Cheng-Zhu. In fact, Luo, Qin-Shun despised that the academic motivation of Zhan, Ruo-Shui was less pure than that of Yang Xiong. Arranging the eclectic attitude of the philosophical medicine greatly expanded my mind and insisted that Tian-li should be embodied in all things in the world. It is said that if you reach a great heart, your heart will reach the middle-right, and if you reach the middle-right, your heart will naturally activate and respond to it. He claims that he is the orthodox of Neo-Confucianism because his body certification Tian-li was approved by Chen, Xian-Zhang. Internally, he notices the body of the mind through perception, recognizes Tian-li of all things through reason, and as a result, the mind and the outside are united inside and outside. In other words, it looks like a mind study that ostensibly realizes the body of the mind, but in reality it is so similar to the scholarship of Cheng Yi and Zhu Xi. From the Cheng-Zhu perspective, the theory of Li-Qi one combine has already had the idea of looking at in two from the word combine, and there remains the problem of excluding that is not middle-right in the theory of middle-right. Even from the logic of human anmal nature theory, we do not clearly distinguish between heaven earth nature and temperament nature. Luo, Qin-Shun points out this point. From Mind study point of view, the discussion about the whole of Chen, Xian-Zhang is also avoided by Ben ti. This point is a problem for Luo, Qin-Shun. It limits the philosophy of Zhan, Ruo-Shui in that it is not hazy from the Cheng-Zhu side and cannot show a deep inner layer difference from the psychological side.

Abstract:

Yue-fu poetry originated from folk songs, and most of the early days of Yue-fu poetry were accompanied by music. For this reason, not only musical symbols can be seen in the lyrics of Yue-fu poetry in the Han Dynasty, but also various rhetoric are frequently used. These rhetoric have in common that they repeat in form and meaning with a slight change in font and content, creating a unique rhythm in the lyrics. Among them, the ding-zhen that resembles Japanese word chain game and the antithesis that contrasts two similar phrases play an important role in characterizing Yue-fu poetry as a song. This paper study the characteristic rhetoric of folk songs in the Han dynasty, which are found in "Gu-chui quci" and "Xiang-he geci". The second chapter explores the effect of the ding-zhen on poetry, and the third chapter explores aspects of the antithesis.

Abstract:
AbstractIn this paper, we deal with the global existence and blow-up of solutions to a doubly degenerative parabolic system with nonlinear boundary conditions. By constructing various kinds of sub- and super-solutions and using the basic properties of M-matrix, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions for global existence of non-negative solutions, which extend the recent results of Zheng, Song and Jiang (S. Abstract:
Abstract This chapter studies one aspect of the great Ming dynasty philosopher Wang Yangming’s (王陽明 1472–1529) celebrated doctrine of the unity of knowledge and action (zhi xing he yi 知行合一). Wang states that his doctrine does not apply to all knowledge, but only to an elevated form of knowledge, which he sometimes calls “genuine knowledge” (zhen zhi 真知). But what is “genuine knowledge”? I develop and compare four different interpretations of this notion: the perceptual, practical, normative, and introspective models. The main aim of the chapter is to develop these models in more detail than has been done before. But at the end of the chapter I argue that the introspective model is to be preferred over the alternatives.

Abstract:
Xiang-Ping Hu and Zhuo Zheng of the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics developed (Organic Lett. 2009, 11, 3226; J. Org. Chem. 2009, 74, 9191) a family of Rh catalysts for the enantioselective hydrogenation of allylic phosphonates such as 1. Hon Wai Lam of the University of Edinburgh established (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2009, 131, 10386) that an alkenyl heterocycle 3 could be reduced with high ee. The product 4 could be hydrolyzed to the carboxylic acid. Ken Tanaka of the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology showed (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2009, 131, 12552) that an isopropenyl amide 6 could be hydroacylated with high ee. Gregory C. Fu of MIT observed (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2009, 131, 14231) that nitromethane 9 could be added to the allenyl amide 8 to give 10, the product of γ-bond formation. Robert K. Boeckman Jr. of the University of Rochester devised (Organic Lett. 2009, 11, 4544) what appears to be a general protocol for the construction of alkylated ternary and quaternary centers: enantioselective hydroxymethylation of an aldehyde 11. In another approach to the construction of alkylated quaternary centers, Varinder K. Aggarwal of the University of Bristol demonstrated (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2009, 48, 6289) that an enantiomerically enriched trifluoroborate salt 14 could be added to an aromatic aldehyde 15 with retention of absolute configuration. The salt 14 was prepared from the corresponding high ee secondary benzyl alcohol. Weinreb amides are versatile precursors to a variety of functional groups. Stephen G. Davies of the University of Oxford devised (Organic Lett. 2009, 11, 3254) a chiral Weinreb amide equivalent 17 that could be alkylated with high de. The minor diastereomer from the alkylation was readily separable by silica gel chromatography. Keiji Maruoka of Kyoto University established (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2009, 48, 5014) that a chiral phase transfer catalyst was effective for the enantioselective alkylation of the alkynyl ester 19. Emmanuel Riguet of the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne developed (Tetrahedron Lett. 2009, 50, 4283) an improved catalyst for the enantioselective addition of malonate 22 to cyclohexenone 21.
