Full textThe doctoral thesis deals with the challenges of the emigrant movement caused by the construction of large dams and reservoirs in China, by including certain aspects of Chinese history and the context of modernization of the 20th century. We will study this subject through a multidisciplinary methodology in social sciences, and focus the questions on some fundamental areas: politics, actors, community. We study these constitutive elements of reservoir immigration, which also comes under the Chinese concept of migration, the institutional processes of hydraulic governance, the modern nation state, and more broadly, the relationship between the state and society through institutional means: roots in traditional society, bureaucracy, sovietization, etc. We think that the movement linked to the construction of the dam in the Chinese context is a multi-subject / actor movement, mobilized mainly according to the dynamics of the state-society relationship. A field study on the Xin'an Jiang dam and reservoir, one of the three large dams "built independently by the Chinese ourselves" comes to feed our research in historical and geographic dimensions, revealing among other things the engineering institution , the formation of the emigration and immigration, uprooting, the new community formed by the movements, which shape the subjectivities and the performances of the different actors of the movements around the the construction of dam and reservoir of Xin'an Jiang. This holistic, structured and social morphological analysis seeks to understand the complex relationships and transformations that operate during the construction of large dams and the forced migration that accompanies it with the objective of establishing a national planned economy and a powerful Chinese nation. Our research shows that China, which is in the process of modernization, is moving towards a society uprooted and suspended from its tradition of Xiangtu shehui. The movement by the construction of big dam and reservoir allows us to grasp this change driven by a future for autonomy, which seems uncertain but creates a new subject for modernisation

Full texthere, the conduction band minima of both AlN and AlAs are located at X symmetry point, while that of AlSb is at a position lying along Gamma- X direction. An important part of this work consists of ETB calculations which have been parameterized for sp3d2 basis and nearest neighbor interactions to study the band gap bowing of III(In
Al)- V(N
As
Sb) ternary alloys. This ETB model provides a satisfactory electronic properties of alloys within reasonable calculation time compared to the calculations of DFT. Since the present ETB energy parameters reproduce successfully the band structures of the compounds at ¡
and X symme- try points, they are considered reliable for the band gap bowing calculations of the ternary alloys. In the present work, the band gap engineering of InNxAs1¡
x, InNxSb1¡
x, InAsxSb1¡
x, Al1¡
xInxN, Al1¡
xInxSb and Al1¡
xInxAs alloys has been studied for total range of constituents (0 <
x <
1). The downward band gap bowing seems the largest in InNxAs1¡
x alloys among the alloys considered in this work. A metallic character of InNxAs1¡
x, InNxSb1¡
x and InAsxSb1¡
x has been ob- tained in the present calculations for certain concentration range of constituents (N
As) as predicted in the literature. Even for a small amount of contents (x), a decrease of the electronic e®
ective mass around ¡
symmetry point appears for InNxAs1-x, InNxSb1-x and InAsxSb1-x alloys manifesting itself by an increase of the band curvature. The calculated cross over from indirect to direct band gap of ternary Al alloys has been found to be consistent with the measurements. As a last summary, the determinations of the band gaps of alloys as a function of contents, the concentration range of con- stituents leading to metallic character of the alloys, the change of the electronic effective mass around the Brillioun zone center (Gamma) as a function of alloy contents, the cross over from indirect to direct band gap of the alloys which are direct on one end, indirect on the other end, are main achievements in this work, indispensable for the development of mate- rials leading to new modern circuit components.

Full textThis research investigates the issue of interpersonal trust in Chinese business-to-business markets under what, in this research, becomes classified by the Chinese as xinren. Understanding trust in Chinese business has been identified as a priority for Westerners entering the burgeoning Chinese market. The aim of this research is to seek rich exploratory data on interpersonal trust in Chinese markets-a subject that is acknowledged for its importance but has received little empirical investigation.
Much has been written on guanxi in Chinese business but there appears to be confusion between what constitutes trust as opposed to guanxi. By delving into the richness of the Chinese perceptions of trust and xinren this research attempts to unlock the nature of these constructs and answer the research question: How do business people of Chinese ethnic origin involved in international marketing perceive trust in Chinese-to-Chinese and Chinese-to-Western business? A key outcome of the research is the identification that Westerners can become insiders and build deep trust with the Chinese. However, it is difficult to achieve such a level of deep trust because it requires a special level of emotional exchange built through honesty, sincerity and reciprocal help.
The researcher interviewed a cross-section of Chinese business people in a variety of business organisations operating in Beijing, Xiamen, Shanghai, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Australia. The research was undertaken using the interpretive social science method and incorporated in depth, face-to-face interviews with a conversational style that was based on a protocol of relevant issues. Most respondents spoke both Chinese and English and were experienced in international trade.
A key component of this study was access. Access was gained through the building of an interviewer tree of connections or guanxishu-a tree or shu that enabled the researcher to 'snowball' from one referral to the next. The snowballing and conversational technique was suited to the Chinese business person's style, which has been described as high context and complex. Using taped interviews and transcripts, the researcher analysed the perceptions of the respondents with a computer package, NVIVO.
The research therefore attempts to contribute to knowledge through a deeper understanding of trust and interpersonal relationships in Chinese business. It does this through three contributions to the literature:
- a richer understanding of the Chinese business person's perception of xinren;
- a model that identifies the levels building to xinren and a holistic model of the people sharing such levels; and
- a clarification for Westerners of the difference between xinren and guanxi.
Overall the research attempts to understand what Chinese business people mean by trust in the context of negotiating with other Chinese and Westerners. Trust is acknowledged as a key ingredient in business but in the Chinese interpersonal environment it has particular importance.

On May 9 and 10 of 2009, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Lan-lin Theater (蘭陵劇坊)and the 70th birthday of its then instructor Wu Jingji(吳靜吉), three generations of actors of the theater performed the drama again with “acting relays.” Each character had his ax to grind and each tried to cheat others in the plot of the drama, and its natural and hilarious dialogs made the audience burst into laughter. Moreover, as the performing skills of the actors were perfect, theater critic Hung Hung (鴻鴻)called the drama “a living modern theater history of Taiwan.” As the celebrations of “Lan-lin 30th Anniversary • The Legend Lives on” were underway, I read articles on numerous scholars and experts home and abroad such as Wu Jingji(吳靜吉), Shih Kuang-Sheng(石光生), Chung Ming-Der(鍾明德), Yu Shan-Lu (于善祿)and so on. However, to these scholars and experts, the historical position of Hezhu Xinpei mainly stayed at the physical training of Lan-lin Theater and at its influence on the drama and the theatrical circles and ignored the value of Hezhu Xinpei itself. Therefore, the thesis attempted to construct its status from historical inheritance, drama creation and theatrical performance. The entire thesis of Research of Hezhu Xinpei is around 120,000 Chinese characters long, and it is divided into eight chapters. The first chapter outlines its research motivation, methods, scope and difficulties, and the content of the remaining chapters are as follows: First, in historical inheritance, to comprehend the origin and development of Hezhu Xinpei, the second chapter compiled and organized related documents and information from the Tang and Five Dynasties, the Song and Yuan Dynasties, and the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the Republican Period and referred to the drawing techniques of Liu Hui-Fen's(劉慧芬) Jing Ju Ju Ben Bian Zhuan Li Lun Yu Shi Wu(《京劇劇本編撰理論與實務》) to draw the relationship diagram of characters to reveal the origin and development of the literature of common people. By the method of induction and analysis, the third chapter reviewed the inheritance and integration of hopes, aspiration or self-reflection of creators of each period when they faced the change of politics in their nations and the transformation of their society and economy to display the status and value of the theme and thought of Hezhu Xinpei in history and culture. Second, in drama creation, the article From Hezhu Pei to Hezhu Xinpei(〈從《荷珠配》到《荷珠新配》〉) written by Huang Mei-Hsu(黃美序) points out that Hezhu Xinpei has borrowed a lot of language, words, plots and movements from Hezhu Pei, and Chin Shih-Chieh (金士傑)indicated that inheritance or replacement between the two dramas could not be recalled after many times of adaptations. Therefore, the fourth chapter compared and analyzed the inheritance or replacement of the two dramas from language, words and theatrical movements. Although Hezhu Xinpei was absorbed and adapted from Hezhu Pei, it can trigger ardent resonance, so there must be places where it exceeds Hezhu Pei. Therefore, the second section of the fourth chapter found the features of Hezhu Xinpei that are superior to those of Hezhu Pei through the comparison and analysis of their dramatic structures, language and movements. In theatrical performance, how actors shape and interpret characters influences the audience's understanding of the content of a drama and indirectly urges the extension of the life of a drama. However, Hezhu Pei and Hezhu Xinpei belong to different genres of drama, and thus, “ping yi three theory” (評藝三論)and “body language” were adopted to serve as the research methods of the fifth and sixth chapters to view the implementation of each actor on performing art in researching into the prototypes of characters and innovative issues. Moreover, the performance of dramas should be based on the aesthetic taste of the audience and the trend of the times to design dramas. Therefore, the seventh chapter reviewed the era background of the creation of Hezhu Xinpei and the effect of stage performance and reviewed the implementation of different stage forms such as “how well they perform” and “whether they are worthwhile” in accordance with Yao Yi-Wei's(姚一葦) “art is performance”(藝術即表現) and Edward A. Wright's(愛德華•賴特) “praises three questions” (歌德三問題)to find out a theatrical style that kept up with the times and the reason why it did not arouse great theatrical trend as it had in the 1980s. Although Hezhu Xinpei is not a brand-new work, through the compilation and organization of historical documents, comparison and analysis of creation and presentation of theatrical performance, we can understand why Hezhu Xinpei is not submerged by the times and comprehend its value and meaning of circulating widely.

The turning point of the author's life of art can be traced back to 2006. The author tried to turn the style of “Art of Art's Sake” creation into a bridge that can communicate with people and society. I've lived and worked in art space for five years until now. The creative experiences of art taught me to investigate the society in multiplex views. During the five years in art space, I joined “Soy House Art Club”, I shared lives with people who are from different occupations. At the time, I started to critique and reflect on the establish social cognition. Therefore, I scanned again on the dependencies between my artistic creations and the contemporary social space. This paper examines “Insight Xinmei Street”. I use traditional stores on Xinmei street in Tainan City as fictitious representation of space. The view of fictitious space is used for figuring out the possible reason why the stores had disappeared. By using the messages that videos, texts and images have shown, we can find out how people perceive and what they showed in face of the consumer culture in today's urban constructions. This creation of art is not only to implement my own perspective on arts but can make us recall the fading memories of urban space and introspect our living space, after it has been controlled by consumer culture and is not as it used to be.

Huangpu Xincun is the first military dependents’ villages of Taiwan. In 2014, Kaohsiung Department of Cultural Affairs in Huangpu Xincun piloted “KH R&R villages”: Resident & Reborn. (Alternative strategy of organic preservation: dwelling as a way of recreating Kaohsiung’s military dependents’ villages) This is the first Taiwan’s to live the effect as custody of the village culture case. But, make people to be curious about that why at this time, there will be a way to use "residence" as a reserved village. Why use “KH R&R villages” as cultural performance and a strategy for space production? This paper, I used two perspectives to view the policy. First, is cultural performance. From the local government''s superior policy to understand the role of Huangpu Xincun in the Kaohsiung City Government''s urban governance strategy, and the households who follow the “KH R&R villages” program, how to cooperate with the policy to externally perform and redefine the culture of the village? Second, through the huge vision of space production theory, recalling the changes in the internal culture and external landscape generated by the central and local seesaw battle of different imagination of Huangpu Xincun. And in the field, the actors who are constrained by the dual politics of the central and local, through the performances of arts and cultural activities and the discussion of public issues, to organize the organization and generate “KH R&R villages” is different from the official version of “KH R&R villages.” This study found that Huangpu Xincun because of its management rights are still under the Ministry of National Defense, Kaohsiung Department of Cultural Affairs only escrow identity, so the Kaohsiung Department of Cultural Affairs and the applicant agreed to stay in the standard, some still inherited the Ministry of National Defense restrictions on the place. This reflects that the carrier of the dependents culture of the political and cultural landscape, are shaped and reconstructed by contemporary forms of re-use, and this space behind the production, in fact, there is a very complex process of political struggle.

This thesis focuses examining several questions: First, the degree of local culture exhibited in the bronze vessels, and there relationship with the Central Plains bronze ritual vessel tradition. A portion the bronze ritual vessels from Dayangzhou tomb manifest a relationship to early Yinxu bronzes from the Central Plains. An examination of assemblage, form and decoration reveals to what degree the style of the Dayangzhou vessels absorb the Central Plains tradition, and what elements are representative of the local culture. Many of the vessel while appearing to belong to the Central Plains tradition, some decorations and forms show a relationship to the Shaanxi-Shanxi region. The second issue is the development of Changjiang bronzes in the Shang period through a study of the Dayangzhou bronzes. Prior to the discovery of the Dayangzhou tomb, the majority of finds of Shang period bronzes in the Changjiang were recovered from the Hubei-Hunan region. The bronzes are distinctly different from the bronzes of the Hubei-Hunan region, and from the Dayangzhou discovery, generalization can be made regarding the bronze culture of the Jiangxi region. The Changjiang had an abundant source of bronze, which provided suitable conditions for developing rich bronze cultures and the Dayangzhou tomb located south of the Changjiang, was at a considerable distance from Anyang, center of the Central Plains Shang culture, allowing it the freedom to develop a more individual style, and less influenced by the Shang culture. Most importantly the Dayangzhou find, has provided significant evidence for multiple center development of Shang bronzes, positing evidence against the linear, centralized development, where regional cultures develop by diffusion from the center.

Abstract Xinbei-Frigate is the most advance regarding with a fast warship used especially for protecting and rescuing other. The ship was described as having a top speed of 25 Knots, and a maximal displacement of 2,482 ton. The size of ship has a length equal to 98.5 m, and 13.2 m width as well as 5.4 m draft. This thesis uses the CAD computer software to create 3D ship’s model. Then a Xinbei-Frigate model was used to set up numerical tank with FLOW-3D which is a commercial general purpose Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) package. The motion of the ship model has potentially six degrees of freedom (6-DOF) is carried out in the present work. The main advantage of this study lies in the discussion of applying CFD to simulate hydrodynamics of ship. The greatest significance of using CFD is to save the experimental cost and predict the numerical results. With the fast development of the computer in recent decades, the numerical methods can achieve a quite high precision to the fluid numerical simulation which can be utilized in each step of ships hydrodynamics. In this thesis, the sailing route of ship is straight so as to the sway and yaw to be equal to zero. In other words, we use four degrees of freedom (surge, heave, roll, pitch) to investigate the hydrodynamics of Xinbei-Frigate

Xinbei-Frigate has excellent performance with a fast warship used especially for protecting and rescuing other. The ship was described as having a top speed of 25 Knots, and a maximal displacement of 2,482 ton. The size of ship has a length equal to 98.5 m, and 13.2 m width as well as 5.4 m draft. According to the actual geometry of the Xinbei-Frigate, the 3D ship’s model is eastblished by using the CAD computer software. Then a 3D Xinbei-Frigate model was used to set up numerical tank with FLOW-3D which is a commercial general purpose Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) package. CFD can predict the remarkable numerical results for design used. With the high-efficency in computing nowdays, the numerical methods can achieve a high-resolution for the soluiton of the fluid dynamics simulation which can be utilized in each step of ships hydrodynamics. This study lies in the discussion of applying CFD to simulate the interaction of wave and ship motion. We sought to understand the influence of vessel speed(10 and 20 knots) on changes in water level changes caused by different wave effects during the navigation. The change of six degrees of freedom is singificant in ship hydrodynamics. In this thesis, the sailing route of ship is straight so as to the sway and yaw to be equal to zero. The detail parameters such as the change of pitch and heave and drag force will be shown in this thesis. Keywords: Xinbei-Frigate, CFD, pitch, heave, drag force

The mangrove forest protected areas in Xinfeng Township are crucial along the coast in Hsinchu County. The entire ecosystem of the area is diverse with various species, abundant in animal and plant resources, and one of the best sites for outdoor education to nearby schools. The valuable function of ecological education shown gives great reasons of the protection and conservation of such areas. Since the development of environmental attitudes initiate during childhood, children’s concept of environment cultivated and formed during the years of compulsory education has a profound influence on their engaging in activities of environmental protection later on. The results obtained through this study are as follows: (1) PM2.5 analysis on different days of the day to verify the main cause of high pollution sources in the container trucks on Friday. TVOC analyzed and verified at different times of the day that the pollution source was in the Hsinchu Industrial Zone and the exhaust gas period was during non-working hours. (2) PM2.5 was proved to be a “positive holiday effect” on weekdays and holidays. TVOC has no difference in the results of the weekday and holiday analysis. The pollution source comes from the Hsinchu Industrial Zone in the non-working hours. (3) PM2.5 analysis in different seasons shows that the cold season pollution source is caused by coal burning in northeastern China, and its warm season controls the stable pollution concentration by the rainy season. TVOC's analysis of different seasons proves that the 2018 warm season pollution source comes from the peak season of semiconductor, renewable energy and other factories. (4) Summarize that the causes of the two sources of pollution are different.

In 1980, Hezhu Xinpei was performed at the first Experimental Theater Festival in Taiwan. The performance motivated the theater to innovate and reform, and it triggered the little theater movement. This thesis discusses how the creation momentum of the little theater movement has brought about the transformation of Taiwanese modern theater in the 1980s; the other attempt of my study is to translate Jin Shijie’s Hezhu Xinpei and analyze the satire on the society and human nature of the time through the process of translation. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part includes two chapters, respectively about the textual analysis and translation strategy. The second part is the English translation of the play. Chapter one introduces the history of Taiwanese theater and the little theater movement, the auspice and the author, and the play and its source: Hezhu Xinpei vs. Hezhu Pei. Chapter two explores the plots, characters and certain dialogues; and then, it introduces the strategies adopted in translating Hezhu Xinpei from the perspective of dramatic translation, so as to solve the problems of the lack of direct equivalence due to language and cultural differences. The historical position and influence of Hezhu Xinpei in Taiwanese theater have been confirmed by many experts and scholars, such as Wu Jingji, Shi Guangsheng, Chung Minder, Yu Shanlu and etc. In addition to discussing the relationship between Hezhu Xinpei and the theater, I hope my English translation of the play provides an access for non-Mandarin users to understand this innovative work in Taiwanese modern theater.

Based on quality tealeaf and tea-brewing principles, the art of tea focuses on the etiquettes and positive attitude towards life. Also, applying Tea Arts into the courses at school can help students enhance their personality development, both mentally and physically. The prosperity of the tea industry in Taiwan started during Daogaung and Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty. During the period of Japanese occupation, the government referred to the tea industry as one of the priorities for the country’s development. For instance, to offer students practical tea knowledge, four lessons in the textbooks in public schools were about tea of Taiwan, which can be seen as the origin of homeland education. In 1993, Ministry of Education implemented the course of local culture learning activity, aiming to extend education from within schools to local communities. It combines normal study with the local comminity environment and resources. In this way, students are expected to better their understanding of their own culture and thus to develop a strong emotional link between themselves and their hometowns. This linkage can encourage students to be more willing to contribute to the development of their hometown, which is the ultimate goal of local culture education. Dacheng Elementary School and Chajiao Elementary School of Three Gorges District, Shidian Elementary School and Yunhai Primary School of Yundian District, and Pinglin Elementary School of Pinglin District, all located in 100-year-old tea villages, have applied the art of tea to their teaching syllabus and have also made this tea course a feature of their teachings. This essay aims to discuss the relationship between the study of Tea Arts at different schools and the impact upon the development of local communities. Subsequently, this study can be utilized as a reference for the development of local culture education in other districts.
