Dio Chrysostom, a Greek orator of the Ist and IInd centuries A. D. , addresses the Alexandrian people in order to restore peace among him and put an end to its restless and quarrelsome behavior which appears in its bad attitude at spectacles. The introduction recalls the author's life, an analysis of the oration, a study of its themes, its style and its language, its manuscript tradition and establishes the date of its composition. The edition is based on a checking and a comparison of the manuscripts which brings it to us and comprises a critical apparatus. The translation is the first one in French until today. Abstract:
The XXXII Venice Biennale, held in 1964, presented an important moment in the history of American art, for it was the first time that an American painter was awarded the major prize at the prestigious international show. The fact that Robert Rauschenberg captured the most coveted award of the Biennale, the Grand Prize for painting, had major repercussions for the art scene in the United States and the international art community. For the Americans, the prize was "proof" that American art had finally come into its own, that through its struggle for recognition over the European avant-garde, it had finally reached its well-deserved place as leader of the pack. For the Europeans, especially the French, the award represented the "last frontier" of American expansionism--for it seemed that the economic and military dominance of the United States finally had been supplemented by cultural dominance. It seems pertinent to this study to examine the French response in particular, since they had traditionally dominated Biennale prizes. By analyzing the French reviews and responses to the prize, and situating these in a broader political context, I will discuss how the U.S. was perceived as the new cultural leader, despite the vehement objections to the culture of the New Frontier, which seemed to be only Coke bottles, stuffed eagles and carelessly dripped paint. Given the vehement objections engendered by the Rauschenberg victory, it seems somewhat curious that the United States would choose Rauschenberg as a representative of American culture. In order to discover how the pop imagery in the work was linked to the image : of U.S. culture promoted by the U.S. Information Agency (the government agency responsible for the show), it is necessary to analyze the cultural and intellectual debates of the early 1960s. Rejecting earlier notions that high art should remain separate from mass culture, a prominent group of intellectuals argued for a "new sensibility" in art which would embrace popular culture, thereby elevating it. This positive notion of a single, all-embracing culture corresponds to a more general optimism among many intellectuals; their rallying cry was the "end of ideology," which disdained radical critique in favor of the promise of Kennedy's "progressivism" and the welfare state. These intellectuals argued that while the system was not perfect, any major problems could be averted by simply "fine-tuning" the existing state; in the meantime, the promise of Kennedy's New Frontier required a more affirmative than critical stance. The elements shared between these discourses on culture and society at this time were of seminal importance to the critical understanding of Rauschenberg's work, particularly as it was presented at the Biennale.

A raça XXXIII de Hemileia vastatrix foi recentemente identificada no Brasil, infectando algumas cultivares resistentes à ferrugem do cafeeiro. Embora o processo infeccioso de H. vastatrix seja bem estudado, não existem informações acerca da interação de cafeeiros com esta raça do fungo. Diante disso, um dos objetivos deste trabalho foi avaliar o processo de colonização do fungo e as respostas de defesa da planta em genótipos de cafeeiro resistente (Híbrido de Timor – HDT CIFC 832/1) e suscetível (C. arabica cv. Caturra CIFC 19/1) infectados pela raça XXXIII. As primeiras respostas citológicas induzidas pelo fungo foram observadas particularmente nas células estomáticas de ambos os genótipos, às 17 horas após inoculação (hai), e corresponderam à morte celular e ao acúmulo de compostos fenólicos. No genótipo suscetível, o fungo foi capaz de colonizar os tecidos do hospedeiro e produziu um grande número de haustórios, culminando na esporulação cerca de 20 dias após a inoculação (dai). Ao contrário, no genótipo resistente, o crescimento do fungo foi impedido, com alta frequência no estádio pré-haustorial. Estas observações citológicas indicam que a resistência de HDT CIFC 832/1 à raça XXXIII de H. vastatrix é pré-haustorial, ao contrário da resistência pós-haustorial que é geralmente descrita para interações cafeeiro - H. vastatrix. Com base nesta análise, foram definidos os tempos mais adequados para o estudo de genes expressos ao longo do processo infeccioso. Embora o sequenciamento do transcriptoma tenha sido bastante utilizado em estudos de interação planta-patógeno, uma das maiores dificuldades consiste na separação dos transcritos provenientes da planta e do fungo, principalmente quando não existe genoma de referência. Por esta razão, foi realizado o sequenciamento e a montagem do transcriptoma de esporos hidratados e germinados da raça XXXIII de H. vastatrix. A montagem resultou em 32.882 contigs, a partir dos quais foi gerado um conjunto de 11.989 genes preditos. Plantas de C. arabica cv. Caturra Vermelho (CIFC 19/1) e Híbrido de Timor (CIFC 832/1) foram inoculadas com esporos frescos de H. vastatrix (raça XXXIII) para estabelecer uma interação compatível e incompatível, respectivamente. Como controle, foram utilizadas folhas não inoculadas. Nos tempos de coleta pré-definidos (12, 24, 96 horas e 17 dias após a inoculação), as folhas foram removidas e utilizadas para extração de RNA. O sequenciamento das dez bibliotecas de cDNA foi realizado na plataforma Illumina MiSeq, gerando um total de 206 milhões de reads. Após tratamento dos reads, foi realizado o mapeamento das bibliotecas da interação, utilizando como referência o transcriptoma de H. vastatrix previamente montado. Os dados obtidos mostraram que muitos genes de H. vastatrix são similares aos genes do cafeeiro, o que dificulta o estudo da expressão de genes na interação. Por outro lado, genes não conservados entre os dois organismos puderam ser avaliados quanto à sua expressão. Foi verificada a presença de muitos genes comuns às duas interações (compatível e incompatível), sendo que a grande maioria não apresentou expressão diferencial, principalmente nas fases iniciais do processo infeccioso. As maiores diferenças entre as interações foram encontradas aos 17 dai, consistindo principalmente de genes “no hit”, ou seja, genes que não apresentam similaridade com sequências dos bancos de dados de proteínas. Estas sequências podem corresponder a genes específicos de H. vastatrix. As informações geradas nesta pesquisa poderão auxiliar no melhor entendimento da interação entre H. vastatrix e o cafeeiro. O conhecimento dos genes expressos durante a infecção poderá auxiliar no entendimento dos mecanismos moleculares que levam à suplantação da resistência por novas raças do fungo.
The race XXXIII of Hemileia vastatrix was recently identified in Brazil, infecting some cultivars that had been released as resistant to coffee leaf rust. To gain new insights into the interaction between coffee plants and this race of the fungus, we evaluated the fungal growth and the plant defence responses in coffee genotypes resistant (Híbrido de Timor – HDT CIFC 832/1) and susceptible (C. arabica cv. Caturra CIFC 19/1) to race XXXIII. The first cytological responses induced by the fungus were observed particularly in stomatal cells of both coffee genotypes by 17 hours post-inoculation (hpi) and corresponded to hypersensitive-like response (HR) and accumulation of phenolic-like compounds. In the susceptible genotype, the fungus was able to colonize the host tissues, produced a large number of haustoria and sporulated around 20 days post-inoculation (dpi). Reversely, in the leaves of resistant genotype, the fungus stopped its growth with higher frequency at pre-haustorial stages. These cytological observations indicate that the resistance of HDT CIFC 832/1 to race XXXIII of H. vastatrix is pre-haustorial, contrary to the post-haustorial resistance that is generally described for coffee - H. vastatrix interactions. Based on this analysis, the most suitable key time points of the infection process were defined, aiming at the study of differentially expressed genes in the interaction. Although the transcriptome sequencing has been widely used in plant-pathogen interaction studies, a major challenge is to separate transcripts from the plant and the fungus, especially in the absence of reference genomic sequences. For this reason, we performed the transcriptome sequencing and assembly of H. vastatrix (race XXXIII) hydrated and germinated spores. A total of 32.882 contigs were assembled, from which 11.989 genes were predicted. Plants of C. arabica cv. Caturra (CIFC 19/1) and Híbrido de Timor (CIFC 832/1) were inoculated with fresh spores of H. vastatrix race XXXIII to establish a compatible and an incompatible interaction, respectively. No inoculated leaves were used as control. In each time point (12, 24, 96 hours and 17 days post- inoculation), the leaves were removed and used for RNA extraction. Illumina MiSeq sequencing of ten cDNA libraries generated 206,000,000 reads. High quality reads of the H. vastatrix and coffee interacting transcriptomes were mapped against the H. vastatrix (race XXXIII) hydrated and germinated spores transcriptome previously assembled. The data showed that many genes of H. vastatrix are similar to coffee genes, which makes difficult the study of gene expression in the interaction. On the other hand, genes not conserved between the organisms could be evaluated for their expression. The presence of many common genes to both interactions (compatible and incompatible) was verified, and the majority did not show differential expression, especially in the early stages of the infection process. The major differences between interactions were found at 17 dpi, consisting mainly of genes that showed no similarity to protein databases. Those sequences can correspond to H. vastatrix specific genes. This investigation provides new insights into the coffee-rust interaction. The knowledge of gene expression profiling during the infection process may contribute to understanding the molecular mechanisms that lead to the breakdown of resistance by new physiological races of the fungus.

L’histoire de Joseph, corpus choisi pour notre analyse, a été souvent étudiée d’une manière qui demeure fragmentaire, au travers de différentes approches : typologique, mythologique, légendaire, historique, sapientielle, contextuelle… Plus récemment, l'interprétation historico-critique cherche à discerner comment le texte de Gn 37-50 a été produit. Cette lecture prend également en compte la question du milieu de production, de l’auteur réel et de ses destinataires historiques. André Wénin, dans son ouvrage intitulé Joseph ou l’invention de la fraternité. Lecture narrative et anthropologique de Gn 37-50, a fait une brillante analyse narrative de ce texte. L'auteur porte attention à la manière dont le récit est raconté, et dont le narrateur déploie une stratégie de communication à l'intention du lecteur. Son souci est de voir comment le texte exerce efficacement une influence sur le lecteur. Il déplace donc l’intérêt du pôle de l’auteur vers le pôle du lecteur. En nous situant dans une approche narrative telle que développée par Wénin, nous cherchons ici à approfondir plus particulièrement la question de la voix narrative du récit biblique, pris comme tel dans son état final. L'objectif de notre recherche est de répondre à la question : comment le narrateur parle-t-il dans le récit ? Pour atteindre ce but, nous établissons un cadre théorique à partir de la proposition de Daniel Marguerat sur la voix narrative (Pour lire les récits bibliques). Nous nous appuyons aussi sur la théorisation de la voix narrative réalisée par Gérard Genette (Figure III). Sur ces bases théoriques et en recourant à certains critiques littéraires tels que Mieke Bal, Lucien Dällebach, Philippe Hamon, Vincent Jouve, Jean Ricardou, nous cherchons à identifier la « voix » qui raconte l’histoire et qui guide le lecteur dans le récit. Un narrateur peut commencer son récit en ces termes : je vais vous raconter l’histoire de Joseph. En ce cas, la voix narrative s’exprime par le « je » du narrateur, présent dans l’histoire qu’il raconte. Le narrateur peut également exprimer sa voix via des procédés narratifs et c'est le cas dans l'histoire de Joseph. Dans cette situation, même si c'est toujours le narrateur qui parle, sa voix n’est perceptible qu'à travers les dispositifs narratifs. Ceux-ci sont donc des moyens que le narrateur met en œuvre pour entrer en communication avec le lecteur. Pour notre analyse, nous choisissons trois procédés littéraires qui nous permettent d'illustrer les trois fonctions les plus significatives, à notre sens, de la voix narrative : les dispositifs évaluatifs pour la fonction idéologique, la mise en abyme pour la fonction de régie et la transtextualité pour la fonction testimoniale. En exploitant ces dispositifs, nous proposons une lecture renouvelée de l'histoire de Joseph. Au terme de notre parcours, nous montrons dès lors aussi comment faire de la théologie, en l'occurrence une théologie de la réconciliation, sur la base de la méthode narrative.
The Story of Joseph, corpus chosen for our analysis, was often studied in a way that remains fragmentary, throughout different approaches: typological, mythological, legendary, historical, sapiential and contextual. More recently, the interpretation of historical criticism seeks to identify how the text was produced. This reading also takes into account a question of the means of production, of the real author and of the historical recipients. André Wénin, in his book entitled “Joseph ou l’invention de la fraternité. Lecture narrative et anthropologique de Gn 37-50”, made a brillant narrative analysis of this text. The author pays attention to how the story is related and to the manner with which the narrator deploys a communication strategy directed towards the reader. His concern is to see how the text exercises efficiently an influence upon the reader. Thus, he moves the interest from the point of view of the author to the point of view of the reader. By situating ourselves in a narrative approach as developed by Wénin, here we seek to deepen more particularly the question of the narrative voice of the biblical story, taken as it is in its final state. The object of our search is to answer the question: How does the narrator speak in the narrative? In order to attain this goal, we establish a theoretical structure starting from the proposal of Daniel Marguerat on the narrative voice (Pour lire les récits bibliques). We also emphasize the theorization of the narrative voice realized by Gérard Genette (Figure III). In these theoretical bases and having recourse to certain literary critics like Mieke Bal, Lucien Dällebach, Philippe Hamon, Vincent Jouve, Jean Ricardou, we seek to identify the “voice” that relates the story and which guides the reader in this story. A narrator can begin his story in this way: I will tell you the Story of Joseph. In this case, the narrative voice is expressed by the “I” of the narrator, present in the story that he is relating. The narrator can also express his voice via the narrative devices and this is the case in the Story of Joseph. In this situation, even if it is always the narrator who is speaking, his voice is only perceptible through the narrative devices. These devices are the means by which the narrator uses to enter into communication with the reader. For our analysis, we chose three literal devices that permit us to illustrate three functions which are the most significant, in our understanding, of the narrative voice: The evaluated devices for the ideological function, the “mise en abyme” for the directing function and the transtextuality for the testimonial function. By exploiting these devices, we propose a renewed reading of the Story of Joseph. At the end of our literal journey, we therefore show how to use theology, in the occurrence of a theology of reconciliation, on the basis of the narrative method.

Abstract:
David Elmer Cox's thesis is a form critical study of the salvation/deliverance/hope poetic, prophetic oracles of the Hebrew Scriptures. Beginning with the archaeological concepts of pottery dating and stratigraphic analysis, Cox presents a methodology he classifies "Gattungen dating". Just as pottery forms are able to be used for dating purposes because of the continuous and measurable changes which developed in pottery as the needs and living circumstances of people changed, Cox proposes that the Gattungen utilized by the prophets of Israel proclaiming poetic salvation/ deliverance/hope oracles might also be used as a dating device because of continuous and measurable changes in oral address. Just as with pottery forms, Cox subjects the poetic salvation/deliverance/hope oracles of the Hebrew Scriptures to typological classification and chronological ordering. Isolating the salvation/deliverance/hope oracles outside of Jeremiah into pre-exilic, exilic and post-exilic period categories, Cox presents an evolutionary pattern of development within the salvation/deliverance/hope poetic, prophetic announcements (chapter two). Then, examining two passages scholars consider authentic Jeremiah (3:12b-13; 4:1-2), he applies the Gattungen dating methodology to determine that Jeremiah's salvation/deliverance/hope speeches reflected the concerns and Gattungen of the pre-exilic prophets (chapter three). Cox then examines the central nucleus of poetic salvation/deliverance/hope material within Jeremiah, 30(37):5-31(38):22, a section much debated as to its dating and Sitz im Leben. He determines that the Gattungen utilized by the poetic consolation collection are from a time later than Jeremiah of Anathoth. Through Gattungen dating procedure and historical-critical methodology, Cox proposes that 30(37):5-31(38):22 was a separate poetic collection which attained a recognizable textual shape in the early post-exilic period (chapter four). Cox proposes that the poetic consolation collection is an example of deutero-prophetic activity (chapter five).

Il y a deux amours en dieu dans l'ihya ulum al-din d'al-ghazali: l'amour de dieu pour son serviteur, abondamment developpe, et son amour pour lui-meme qui, bien qu'important par le sujet (dieu et son attribut d'amour), ne vient pas nourrir la reflexion generale du livre faite d'ilm al-mu amala (science de l'acte) et non d'ilm al-mukashafa (science du devoilement). Pourtant l'amour de dieu pour lui-meme pourrait jouer un role de fondement car il fait l'objet d'une verite de devoilement, verite premiere. Ceci revet l'interet philosophique suivant : la verite atteste, en meme temps que l'existence de cet amour, le sens qu'al-ghazali lui donne, c'est-a-dire que le createur s'aime lui-meme, en aimant ses creatures comme ses oeuvres. L'amour de dieu pour lui-meme est certes un theme soufi classique, mais expose ici au troisieme degre du tawhid (unicite divine) ou subsiste encore une dualite (createur creatures). Les developpements comparatifs sur n. Malebranche dont j'ai etudie l'oeuvre auparavant, s'expliquent par la volonte d'objectiver les presupposes divers qui agissent necessairement et secretent une lecture d'un auteur, dans le cas present d'une autre civilisation, a partir d'un autre. Car la raison humaine, dans son travail, a tendance a ramener le nouveau a l'ancien, c'est-a-dire aux connaissances acquises
There are two loves in god in al-ghazali's book : ihya ulum al-din : god's love for his servant, which is abundantly developped, and his love for himself, which, however important the subject-matter is (that is to say god and his attribute of love) does not nourish the general thinking of the work, consisting of 'ilm al-mu-amala (the science of the deeds) and not 'ilm al-mukashafa (the science of what is unveiled). However, god's love for himself could be a basis of the thinking because it belongs to the truth behind the veil which is a primary truth. Anyhow we can find in it a philosophical interest : this truth attests, together with the existence of god's love for himself, the meaning given by al-ghazali, that is to say the creator is loving himself when he is loving his creatures as his work. God's love for himself is certainly a traditional theme among sufis but it is here described in the third level of the tawhid (divine uniqueness) where a duality (creator creatures) still remains present. The comparisons with n. Malebranche, whose works i studied before al-ghazali's, find their purpose in bringing to light the various presupposed thoughts which necessairely influence one's own interpretation ; for, obviously, the human reasoning always takes into account formerly acquised knowledge to discover new things

El present estudi te per objecte determinar la importància de les situacions de contacte entre atacant i defensor en relació a les accions motrius d’atac que executa el portador de la pilota a l’handbol masculí de màxim nivell competitiu. Prioritàriament s’analitzen els factors que modifiquen l’acció del portador de la pilota al rebre un contacte, segons la zona del camp en la que es produeix i el tipus de desequilibri causat, i en conseqüència aquells aspectes que incideixen en el seu rendiment. La investigació es centra en l’anàlisi de la totalitat d’encontres d’handbol que els equips participants en la XXXII edició de la Copa del Rei que es va celebrar a Altea en 2007. Partint del desenvolupament d’un marc teòric que descriu les característiques del contacte corporal des de els diferents prismes que permet l’handbol, i amb la utilització de la metodologia observacional com a metodologia específica pel desenvolupament de la investigació, s’ha construït un instrument d’observació i registre ad hoc específic (SOFBOL-contact) per portar endavant la investigació. L’anàlisi de les dades ha aconseguit caracteritzar i quantificar les accions de contacte que reb l’atacant amb pilota de l’adversari durant el partit en relació a diferents variables del joc, que mitjançant la discussió s’han relacionat amb la temporalitat definida per les fases de joc, els diferents espais definits i la contracomunicació o interacció atacant-defensor. Les conclusions d’aquest treball intenten aportar un coneixement més profund de les conductes motrius derivades del contacte i de la seva repercussió en la dinàmica de joc, amb algunes propostes teòriques i pràctiques, per millorar els processos d’entrenament i la seva aplicació en condicions reals de competició.
El presente estudio tiene por objeto determinar la importancia de las situaciones de contacto entre atacante y defensor en relación a las acciones motrices de ataque que ejecuta el portador del balón en el balonmano masculino de máximo nivel competitivo. Prioritariamente se analizan los factores que modifican la acción del portador de balón al recibir un contacto, según la zona del campo en la que se produce y el tipo de desequilibrio causado, y en consecuencia aquellos aspectos que inciden en su rendimiento. La investigación se centra en el análisis de la totalidad de encuentros de balonmano que los equipos participantes en la XXXII edición de la Copa del Rey que se celebró en Altea en 2007. Partiendo del desarrollo de un marco teórico que describe las características del contacto corporal desde los diferentes prismas que permite el balonmano, y con la utilización de la metodología observacional como metodología específica para el desarrollo de la investigación, se ha construido un instrumento de observación y registro ad hoc específico (SOFBOL-contact) para llevar a cabo la investigación. The aim of this study is to determine the importance of contact situations between attacker and defender in relation to the motor actions of the ball carrier at elite level handball. The factors that modify the action of the ball carrier who receives a contact were analyzed depending on the area of the field in which it occurs and the type of imbalance caused, as well as thus aspects that affect performance. The research has been focused on the analysis of the whole competition in the XXXII edition of the Cup held in Altea in 2007. Based on the development of a theoretical framework that describes the characteristics of physical contact from different prisms allowing handball, and the use of observational methodology as a specific methodology for the development of research, we have built a tool observing and recording specific ad hoc (sofbol-contact) to carry out research. The data analysis has characterized and quantified the actions of contact that ball carrier receives from the opponent during the match in relationship with game variables that through discussion have been linked with the phases of the game, the different spaces or the interaction attacking-defender. The findings of this study try to provide a deeper understanding of motor behavior resulting from contact and its effect on the dynamics of the game, with some theoretical and practical proposals to improve the process of training and application in conditions of real competition.

The phenomenon of inner-biblical interpretation and inter-textual replication of scriptural material within the Old Testament is receiving significant attention in current scholarship. Two narratives which are repeated three times in the Hebrew Bible provide a particularly fruitful case study for this type of research: the Hezekiah narrative (2 Kgs 18-20; Isa 36-39; 2 Chr 29-32) and the account of the fall of Judah (2 Kgs 24-25; Jer 52; 2 Chr 36). This study extends the contributions of redaction-critical, literary-critical, and text-critical studies examining the narratives of 2 Kings 18-20//Isaiah 36-39 and 2 Kings 24:18-25:30//Jeremiah 52 and emphasizes their subsequent reception in Chronicles. In addition, this investigation advances the discussion of the Chronicler's reliance upon and method of incorporating material from the Latter Prophets. It is the conclusion of this thesis that the Chronicler was familiar with the versions of the Hezekiah narrative and the account of the fall of Judah in both 2 Kings and the Latter Prophets. His method of handling these alternative accounts reflects both direct quotation (particularly in the case of 2 Kings) and indirect allusion to themes and idioms (with regard to the Latter Prophets). The result is a re-telling of Judah's history which is infused with hope for restoration as articulated by the Latter Prophets. By portraying an idealized account of Israel's past history which corresponds to prophetic descriptions of the nation's restoration, Chronicles illustrates the accessible, utopic potential held out to every generation of faithful Israel.

Ce travail consiste en un commentaire ad locum, à caractère à la fois historique et historiographique, de la première moitié du livre XXXI de la Bibliothèque Historique de Diodore de Sicile, parvenu jusqu’à nous de façon fragmentaire. L’analyse recouvre 34 fragments, correspondant aux chapitres 1-17b de l’édition Loeb de F.R. Walton et issus du récit annalistique de la première olympiade successive à la bataille de Pydna (168/7-165/4 av. J.-C. = Ol. 153). Le choix du sujet se dessine dans le cadre d’un renouvellement général d’intérêt pour les deux dernières décades fragmentaires de l’œuvre diodoréenne, et pour les livres proprement ‘romains’ en particulier (XXIII-XL). Leur étude semble aujourd’hui centrale pour une meilleure appréciation de la personnalité de l’historien d’Agyrion, du fait de la proximité de l’époque de l’auteur aux événements relatés et de l’importance réservée aux deux cents dernières années d’histoire romaine dans l’économie globale de l’œuvre. La double perspective adoptée vise aussi bien à centrer la question de l’interprétation que l’historien sikéliote donne aux faits narrés qu’à envisager de manière novatrice les enjeux caractérisant la phase historique considérée, à la lumière des apports et des sollicitations de la recherche scientifique la plus récente. A côté de l’intérêt porté à l’écriture de Diodore – ici considérée en particulier du point de vue de son rapport avec la tradition polybienne –, une place privilégiée est ainsi accordée à la réflexion sur les causes et les procédés de l’expansion romaine en Orient, à un moment clé pour la redéfinition des équilibres de pouvoir entre l’Urbs et le monde gréco-hellénistique
This work consists in an ad locum commentary, both historical and historiographical, on the first half part of the XXXI book of Diodorus Siculus’ Historical Library, that has reached us in fragments. This analysis is about the 34 fragments corresponding to the chapters 1-17b of F.R. Walton’s Loeb edition and to the remaining annalistic narration of the first Olympiad following the battle of Pydna (168/7-165/4BC = Ol. 153). The choice of the subject fits within a new general interest for the two last fragmentary decades of the Historical Library, and particularly for the so called ‘Roman’ books (XXIII-XL). A study of this section of Diodorus’ Bibliotheke seems nowadays essential for a better appraisal of the personality of the historian of Agyrion: this is because of the proximity of the author’s time to the events related and because of the great importance of the two last centuries of Roman history into the global economy of his work. The double perspective adopted aims to point out the historian’s interpretation of the facts narrated, but also to reconsider in an innovative way the problems characterizing the period analyzed, specially under the new light offered by the most recent contributions of the scientific research. Therefore, a privileged place is granted to the reflection on the causes and the procedures of the Roman expansion in the East, in a key-moment for the redefinition of the balance of power between the Urbs and the Greco-Hellenistic world, together with a particular attention to Diodorus’ writing, here considered in its relation with the Polybian tradition

The purpose of this thesis is to present a partial edition of a collection of pious salvation tales, known as « The Tombel de Chartrose » (tales n°1 to 15 and n°31). These texts were composed by an anonymous author, probably a secular clerc, between the years 1334 and 1337. They were dedicated to the Carthusian monastery of Bourgfontaine, located in Soisson’s diocese. The present work includes the study of the textual dossier (the first manuscript, which forms the basis of the edidtion, is kept in Avranches (n°244) and the second one in Paris – under quotation « New French Acquisitions 6835 »), the history of the monastery and a reflexion about collection notion. An analysis of the sources used by the author, with litterary references, are given in the notes. A glossary and a proper nouns index are also given to ease the reading of the text

Abstract:
This thesis is a study of the theological relationship between divine mercy and judgment in the attribute formula of Exodus 34:6-7 and in three of its "echoes" (Numbers 14:18, Isaiah 53:4-12 with 54:7-10, and Nahum 1:3). The primary scholarly interlocutor for this study is Walter Brueggemann. In his Theology of the Old Testament, Brueggemann offers an alternative interpretation of how mercy and judgment are related in these texts. Against Brueggemann, this study defends the view that in Ex 34:6-7 and these three echoes, divine mercy and judgment are not only mutually compatible but also are integrated with one another. I reach this conclusion by means of an exegesis of the above four texts that is canonical, theological, and contextual. The introduction Chapter 1 includes a survey of relevant scholarly literature, an analysis of relevant aspects of Brueggemann's work, and a statement of the canonical method employed in the thesis. Chapter 2 provides a theological exegesis of Exodus 34:6- 7 in the context of Exodus 32-34. Chapters 3-5 offer theological exegesis of the three echo-texts noted above. Chapter 6 offers a conclusion, summarising the argument and making some final observations.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study focuses on covenant in relation to justice and righteousness in Isaiah 42:1-9. The main purpose of the study is to grapple with the idea of whether the Old Testament scholarly research on covenant is relevant for the theological-ethical understanding of covenant amongst African believing communities in general and in particular the Kamba community of Kenya. The research employs the socio-rhetorical approach, a method used to explore textures in a multi-dimensional way. In applying Robbins‘ (1996a, 1996b) textual analysis to the text of Isaiah 42:1-9, both the intra and intertextures are examined in order to gain the narrator‘s rhetorical strategy. It is possible to demonstrate that the mission of the Servant of the Lord was to establish justice and righteousness on earth. We show these terms are relational and ethical in nature. Justice restores damaged relationships in order for a community to have peace with itself. Righteousness on the other hand governs moral relationships and demands each member of the community acts right. These demands are required in order to regulate a cohesive social and cultural community that takes each other‘s social needs into account. Moreover, we show through intertexture in chapter three that texts reconfigure themselves either explicitly or implicitly. It is shown that three concepts, justice, righteousness and covenant exhibit moral characteristics when used together. Within covenant framework they have to do with taking care of the needs of the oppressed. Furthermore, in chapter four through social and cultural texture we show how the Israelites and Judah later are unable to fulfill their obligations to the poor because of the moral decay, which affected all spheres of their life. The Servant of YHWH is promised to usher in a new era of social justice. Additionally, in chapter five it is shown that the ideological texture highlights God‘s theological viewpoint characterized by the tension between the two covenants. We have attempted to show from Isaiah 42:1-9 that the theological-ethical understanding of covenant accommodates the Akamba covenant.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie proefskrif fokus op die verbond in samehang met reg en geregtigheid in Jesaja 42:1-9. Die primêre doel van die studie is om te vra of Ou-Testamentiese navorsing enige relevansie het vir die teologies-etiese verstaan van die verbond in geloofsge-meenskappe in Afrika oor die algemeen, maar ook in die Kambagemeenskap (Kenia) in die besonder. In die ondersoek word sosio-retoriek benut om tekstuele verbande op 'n multi-dimensionele manier te ondersoek. In die toepassing van Robbins (1996a, 1996b) se tekstuele analise op Jesaja 42:1-9, word beide die intra- sowel as die intertekstuele verbande ondersoek ten einde te bepaal watter retoriese strategie ter sprake is. Dit is moontlik om aan te toon hoe die Dienaar van die Here daarop gemik was om reg en geregtigheid op aarde te vestig as relasionele en etiese begrippe. "Reg" herstel beskadigde verhoudings ten einde 'n samelewing in staat te stel om vrede onderling te ervaar. "Geregtigheid" bepaal die morele verhoudings en vereis dat elke lid van die gemeenskap eties korrek optree. Hierdie vereistes is noodsaaklik ten einde 'n samehangende sosiale en kulturele samelewing daar te stel waarbinne die lede mekaar se behoeftes in ag neem. Daar word in hoofstuk drie aangetoon hoe verbond in Jesaja 40 – 55 implisiet en eksplisiet gerekonfigureer word. Hierdie rekonfigurasie vind plaas wanneer die drie begrippe reg, geregtigheid en verbond morele kenmerke ontwikkel wanneer dit saam gebruik word. Sodoende ontwikkel die verpligting om binne 'n verbondsraamwerk sorgsaamheid vir die behoeftes van die onderdrukte te ontwikkel. Vervolgens word in hoofstuk vier aangetoon hoe aandag vir die sosiale en kulturele verbande van Jesaja 42:1-9 uitwys hoe die Israeliete en Judeërs nie instaat was om hulle verpligtinge teenoor die armes na te kom na aanleiding van die morele verval wat alle tereine van hulle lewe beïnvloed het. Die Dienaar van JHWH word belowe ten einde 'n nuwe era van sosiale geregtigheid te vestig. Ten slotte word daar in hoofstuk vyf uitgewys dat die ideologiese verband beklemtoon hoe God se teologiese alternatief gekenmerk word deur die spanning tus-sen twee sieninge van die verbond (onvoorwaardelik sowel as voorwaardelik). Teen die agtergrond is geargumenteer dat Jesaja 42: 1-9 se teologies-etiese herdefiniëring van die verbond 'n Akamba begrip daarvoor akkommodeer.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This thesis concerns itself with the discussion of the piety of Job in the biblical book that bears his name in order to closely examine the motivation and potential of his piety in light of his oath of innocence in Job 31, so that we might respond to some crucial issues of life, primarily in African contexts. The background to this study in chapter one takes into consideration the lack of interest in studying Wisdom Literature in Africa, especially the Book of Job, except on an occasional basis that calls for discussions on suffering. We discovered that only a few African scholars have tried to explore some aspects of wisdom literature, which poses the challenge of providing other materials from the area of study to further enrich Old Testament biblical studies in Africa and beyond. Moreover, we also observed the separation of faith and ethics in African contexts, which further invites us to examine the life of Job in terms of what he believed and how that constituted his piety and related to his ethical life. This attempt also has as a point of interest the on-going quest of scholarship in the contemporary contexts in which theological-ethical questions with regard to wisdom theology, human dignity, gender equality, and prosperity theology, amongst other concerns seek decisive responses. Thus, the second chapter of this thesis explores some contributions in wisdom literature in order to see how scholars have contributed to the study of the wisdom concerns, especially regarding the theological-ethical possibilities. In doing this we also highlighted some ancient texts that carry the theme of ‘the innocent sufferer’ like the Book of Job. Accordingly, we also note how the question of Job’s piety in his declaration of innocence has almost been neglected by different scholars, which poses us the challenge of considering it as the golden thread of this thesis. In chapter three we provide a close reading of Job 31 in order to closely examine its textual details and interpretation that set the stage for the theological-ethical study of the same passage in chapter four, in which Job’s piety is used to respond to the issues we raised in chapter one and also pose some challenges that call for a reconsideration of faith and ethics in terms of practical reality and profitability which if done well, as reflected on in chapter five, would greatly improve our lives from personal to external and social dimensions.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie tesis handel oor die bespreking van die vroomheid van Job in die Bybelse boek wat sy naam dra, om die motivering en potensiaal van sy vroomheid in die lig van sy eed van onskuld in Job 31 te ondersoek en hoofsaaklik te reageer op 'n paar belangrike kwessies van lewe in Afrika kontekste. Die agtergrond van hierdie studie in hoofstuk een, neem die gebrekkige belangstelling in die bestudering van Wysheidsliteratuur in Afrika, veral die Boek van Job, met die uitsondering van gesprekke aangaande lyding, in ag. Ons het ontdek dat slegs ‘n paar Afrika vakkundiges al probeer het om van die aspekte van wysheidsliteratuur te ondersoek wat die uitdaging bied om materiaal te vind binne hierdie studieveld om Ou-Testamentiese Bybelse studies in Afrika en verder te bevorde. Verder het ons ook die skeiding van geloof en etiek in die Afrika-konteks waargeneem, wat ons ook uitnooi om die lewe van Job in terme van wat hy geglo en hoe dit sy vroomheid gevorm het te ondersoek en in verband te bring met sy etiese lewe. Hierdie poging het ook as punt van belang om die voortgaande soektog na kundigheid in die hedendaagse konteks waarin teologies-etiese vrae onder andere in verband met wysheidsteologie, menswaardigheid, geslagsgelykheid, en voorspoedsteologie, vra na beslissende antwoorde. Dus ondersoek die tweede hoofstuk van hierdie tesis party bydraes tot die wysheidsliteratuur om te sien hoe vakkundiges bygedra het tot die wysheidsvrae, veral in verband met die teologies-etiese moontlikhede. Sodoende lig ons ook party antieke tekste uit wat die tema van ‘die onskuldige lyer‘ dra, soos die Boek van Job. So let ons ook op hoe die kwessie van Job se vroomheid in sy verklaring van onskuld verwaarloos is deur verskillende geleerdes, wat die uitdaging aan ons bied om dit te oorweeg as die goue draad van hierdie tesis. In hoofstuk drie bied ons 'n noukeurige lees van Job 31 om die tekstuele besonderhede en interpretasie noukeurig te ondersoek. Hierdie besonderhede baan die weg vir die teologies-etiese studie van dieselfde gedeelte in hoofstuk vier waarin Job se vroomheid gebruik word om te reageer op die kwessies wat ons reeds in hoofstuk een vind en ook ander uitdagings wat vra vir 'n heroorweging van geloof en etiek in terme van die praktiese werklikheid en nuttigheid wat, as dit goed gedoen word, soos in hoofstuk vyf weerspieël word, ‘n groot verbetering inhou vir baie van ons lewens, van persoonlike na eksterne en sosiale dimensies.

A síndrome 49, XXXXY é uma aneuploidia do cromossoma sexual, com três cromossomas X a mais, extremamente rara, que tem uma incidência de 1/85.000 a 1/100.000 nascimentos do sexo masculino, não existindo nenhum fator específico que seja responsável pelo aparecimento do mesmo. A sua origem provém da falta de disjunção de cromossomas homólogos (durante a primeira divisão meiótica) ou de cromatídeos irmãos (durante a segunda divisão meiótica) nas células germinativas maternas. Os indivíduos com esta síndrome podem apresentar deficiência intelectual leve a moderada, com dificuldades de aprendizagem, atrasos no desenvolvimento da linguagem e por sua vez da fala. A insuficiência testicular é notável durante a adolescência, anomalias neurológicas, músculo-esqueléticas, genitais, dentofaciais e imunológicas são bastante comuns. Também tendem a apresentar hipotonia muscular, sinostose radiocubital, fenda palatina, anomalias da substância branca, infeções respiratórias recorrentes na primeira infância e anomalias dentarias. Tendo em conta a variedade das áreas envolvidas neste quadro clínico, o sujeito deve ser objeto de um acompanhamento multidisciplinar, por uma equipa de saúde capaz de responder às problemáticas que possam surgir. O objetivo deste estudo é avaliar as alterações que um paciente com síndrome 49, XXXXY pode ter a nível dentário, investigando através da recolha de dados para depois se poder apresentar as soluções possíveis para a sua reabilitação, de forma a desenvolver, manter e restaurar a capacidade funcional do aparelho estomatognático. O plano de tratamento foi baseado em literatura recente sobre as diversas áreas de medicina dentaria envolvidas.
Syndrome 49, XXXXY is an aneuploidy of the sex chromosome, with three extra X chromosomes, extremely rare, which has an incidence of 1/85,000 to 1/100,000 male births, there being no specific factor responsible for its appearance. Its origin comes from the lack of disjunction of homologous chromosomes (during the first meiotic division) or of sibling chromatids (during the second meiotic division) in maternal germ cells. Individuals with this syndrome may have mild to moderate intellectual impairment, with learning difficulties, delays in language development and in turn speech. Testicular insufficiency is remarkable during adolescence, neurological, musculoskeletal, genital, dentofacial and immunological abnormalities are quite common. They also tend to present muscle hypotonia, radiocubital synostosis, cleft palate, white substance anomalies, recurrent respiratory infections in early childhood and dental anomalies. Considering the variety of areas involved in this clinical picture, the subject should be subject to multidisciplinary follow-up by a health team capable of responding to any problems that may arise.The objective of this study is to evaluate the changes that a patient with syndrome 49, XXXXY may have at the dental level, investigating through the collection of data in order to then present the possible solutions for their rehabilitation, in order to develop, maintain and restore the functional capacity of the stomatognathic apparatus. The treatment plan has been based on recent literature on the various areas of dentistry involved.
