Abstract:
[Truncated abstract] Detailed sedimentological, petrographical, geochemical and palynological studies have provided insight into the source rocks and the processes that operated during formation of the Tertiary Yandi channel iron deposit (CID) of the eastern Pilbara, Western Australia. Yandi is the largest and most valuable CID in the world, accounting for more than 2.5% of global iron production in 2003, and is the type-example of CID. The Yandi CID occupies the palaeo-Marillana Creek in the central Hamersley Ranges. It is near-coincident-with the modern Marillana Creek which incised Proterozoic bedrock of the Weeli Wolli Formation (Hamersley Group) and associated dolerite intrusions. Three lithostratigraphic units fill the palaeo-Marillana Creek and comprise the Marillana Formation. The units in stratigraphic order are the: (1) Munjina Member; (2) Barimunya Member, which hosts the majority of the iron resource; and (3) Iowa Eastern Member. Fossil pollen and spores in organic-rich claystones in the Munjina Member indicate that deposition of the Marillana Formation most likely commenced in the Early Oligocene in response to erratic seasonal flows with high energy flood events and intervening quiescent suspension settling of clays. The Marillana Formation consists of twelve facies. These conglomerate and clay facies form three facies associations. The basal facies association is composed of polymictic conglomerate, clay and interbedded CID that represents a lag deposit along the base of the palaeochannel. This facies association characterises the Munjina Member. The second facies association consists of iron-rich conglomerate sheets, bars and subordinate scour-fills and characterises the Barimunya Member. Channel iron deposits of the overlying Iowa Eastern member consist of reworked Barimunya Member iron conglomerates. The upper facies association is polymictic conglomerate with clay that characterises the remainder of the Iowa Eastern Member. Polymictic iron conglomerate in the Munjina and Barimunya Members contains Weeli Wolli Formation and dolerite clasts indicating local derivation. Rare earth element profiles of the other iron conglomerate facies indicate derivation of the Barimunya and Iowa Eastern CID from a different source. These iron conglomerates are characterised by relatively flat LREE profiles. The LREE exhibit an enriched profile approaching the MREE [(average La/Nd)N = 0.7], and the HREE profile shows minor enrichment approaching ytterbium [(average Dy/Yb)N = 0.9]. Comparison of iron conglomerate REE profiles to those of the bedrock indicates that these conglomerates were most probably derived from the Joffre Formation BIF of the Hamersley Group

Abstract:
The Hamersley Yandi Iron Ore Mine of Hamersley Iron Pty. Ltd. is located in the Pilbara region, Western Australia, approximately 90km north west of the town of Newman. The iron ore has accumulated in a palaeochannel as an enriched Channel Iron Deposit (CID). Mining in other parts of this palaeochannel has been practised since 1991. Named deposits in the province are, from west to east, Munjina, Pool, Meander, Western, Central, Eastern, Junction and the Billiard deposits.Presently the CID acts as an aquifer and transmits water through its fracture system. It is the main conduit for the regional groundwater. The Water and Rivers Commission of Western Australia considers the groundwater in the alluvial beds of the Weeli Wolli Creek overlying the CID to be a useful resource. The groundwater is currently used for stock watering so the quality should be preserved.Part of the four possible closure plans of the Yandi Mine is to backfill the excavated channel with waste rock from the mining operation. The waste material will consist of the uneconomic grade lateritic pisolite iron ore, together with colluvium and alluvium overburden. The closure plans will also leave behind two pit lakes.The impact of these closure plans vary but each plan will leave pit lakes containing water with high salinity and this may adversely affect the quality of the groundwater downstream of the lakes.The hydraulic conductivity of the shallow aquifer may be impaired by swelling clays found in parts of the waste material. This impact would be reduced if the chosen closure plan was one with hydrogeological flow management.The water quality downstream of the pit lakes will change and the environmental impact on the groundwater will depend on which closure plan is chosen. This thesis suggests a number of options for consideration.

Abstract:
This thesis is the first indepth analysis of the jian, or advisory speeches, within a relatively unknown text, the Yanzi Chunqiu. It examines the way the Chunqiu period advisor Yanzi employs rhetorical techniques within the jian to change the conduct of his ruler Duke Jing according to Yanzi's three key political views: that the welfare of the common people is essential for the well-being of the state, that li 礼 (or ritual propriety) is of central importance in administering the state, and that the correct relationship between the minister and the ruler is he 和 (a complementary one). This study situates jian, ministerial responsibilities and Yanzi's own political views within the political and intellectual context of the Chunqiu period. It also disagrees with several scholars who claim that the text is unlikely to be a true record of this period. The rhetorical techniques within the jian (the majority of which are translated for the first time into English in this thesis), categorised according to whether they are typical (analogy, citation and chain reasoning) or atypical (provocation, song, lying and threatening resignation), are then analysed. The thesis finds that Yanzi's use of citations, analogies and chain reasoning confirms much existing research on Chinese rhetoric about the application of such techniques. However, the discoveries of Yanzi's atypical use of jian, as well as his frequent reference to Duke Huan as a historical model and his use of possible negative consequences to instill fear in his ruler, indicate that the present understanding of jian by several Western scholars largely based on the Zuozhuan and the Guoyu presents only a partial understanding of jian. The thesis suggests that more attention should be paid to lesser-known texts such as the Yanzi Chunqiu for a clearer picture of the rhetoric of this period.

Abstract:
This thesis is about a category of Buddhist sculpture from Ming-oi (ground temples) and Shorchuk (cave temples), two ancient Buddhist enclaves located along the Northern Silk Route within Yanqi (Karashahr) in present-day Xinjiang. The Yanqi works were removed from their original temple sites, and are now mostly scattered outside of China in various museum holdings around the world. Consequently, Ming-oi and Shorchuk are today forlorn archaeological sites that have received scant attention from contemporary scholars. The disconnected Buddhist sculpture also remains relatively obscure and is left with a long-standing problem of not having an established dating. Although the sculpture has k;generally been assigned to the Tang period, this thesis seeks to establish that it belongs to a much earlier context and may have served as the prototypical models for early Chinese Buddhist art. That the Buddhist art of ancient Xinjiang represents the stylistic inspiration for early Chinese Buddhist sculpture is not a new notion. Scholars in the past have recognised the possible influence on China of pre-existing Buddhist art from the Tarim Basin. In doing so, they were faced with a dating problem, as this would have required the Yanqi works to have been much older than the Tang period dating that had theretofore been assigned to them. Nevertheless, the fragmentary and non-mainstream Yanqi works of clay manufacture have attracted no attempt to solve a seemingly obvious chronological puzzle since they were unearthed almost a hundred years ago. The solution to the puzzle is long overdue. It is the principal raison d' etre for this thesis. Through an extended review of Yanqi's general and Buddhist history, based on textual evidence, in conjunction with stylistic analysis of the relevant architectural and sculptural evidence, this thesis concludes that the 4th - 5th century AD is the more logical art historical context for the Yanqi Buddhist sculpture

My dissertation entitled “From Sanguo zhi yanyi to Samgukchi: Domestication and Appropriation of Three Kingdoms in Korea” shows how a ‘Chinese’ work of fiction has become an enduringly popular Korean work since its importation in the sixteenth century. In this context, my thesis encompasses a comparative exploration of the influence of the Sanguo zhi yanyi 三國志演義 (Romance of the Three Kingdoms; hereafter Three Kingdoms) as reflected in premodern and contemporary Korean culture and literature. The domestication and appropriation of Three Kingdoms today can be attributed, in part, to a relentless modification and re-creation of its contents in the forms of numerous translations, adaptations, and revisions that have reflected socio-political and ideological agendas in Korea. I also clarify how the sociopolitical and ideological changes in Chosŏn Korea accelerated the reception and dissemination of Three Kingdoms by illuminating in particular how the Chosŏn rulers utilized the Neo-Confucian values in Three Kingdoms to maintain and strengthen Korea’s identity as the sole cultural and spiritual successor of the Great Han-Chinese empire after its collapse in 1644. Three Kingdoms’ status in Korea has been much higher than that of a Chinese classic; it remains the most widely read of all novels in modern Korea. Moreover, authors like Chang Chŏng’il do not hesitate to define Three Kingdoms as a national novel of Korea. It is virtually impossible for a modern Korean to lead a life divorced from Three Kingdoms. My dissertation shows that these phenomena did not appear suddenly in the twentieth-century Korea. Rather, they are the result of domestication and appropriation of Three Kingdoms that has steadily progressed for centuries; the novel has been relentlessly re-interpreted in terms of Korea’s socio-political and cultural context. My dissertation elucidates the cultural politics that contribute to making Three Kingdoms into a national novel of Korea.

Abstract:
This thesis is a textual and contextual study of English renditions of poetry in Luo Guanzhong’s Sanguo zhi yanyi, in terms of their artistic approach and their bearing on the artistic functions which poetry fulfills in the novel. There are several English renditions of the Sanguo zhi yanyi in full or in part, including two full translations by Charles H. Brewit-Taylor and Moss Roberts. While the two full translations form the focus of the study, Roberts’s abridged version is also included. Published fifteen years before the full rendition by the same translator, the abridged version serves every now and then as a reference point showing how an individual’s interpretive perception may change over time and bear on choices made in a literary translation. Insertion of poetry in a novel is basically unique to Chinese fiction, often contributing to its overall artistic effects as an organic element. A Western reader coming from a different cultural background may employ different standards in evaluating the artistic role and appeal of poetry in a Chinese classical novel. In an attempt to be as flexible and open-minded as possible, this thesis does not adopt any particular theoretical perspective, but makes use of literary concepts to facilitate the analysis as appropriate. To assess the literary translations, concrete analysis of selected original poems in semantic, syntactic, auditory, imagistic, symbolic and stylistic terms is made before the strategies adopted by the translated versions, along with their merits and limitations, are discussed. Detailed discussions of textual features and contextual elements offer an evidence-based appraisal of the renditions. artistic approaches, which are significant in shedding light on the translators’ attempts to re-create and revitalize the artistic appeal of the source text within the multidimensional context of the target language and culture. It is also hoped that the thesis help shed light on some general as well as language- and culture-specific issues in the translation of classical Chinese poetry.

Adopting an eclectic analytic perspective of discourse analysis, conversation analysis and functional approaches, this study conducts an in-depth pragmatic analysis and describes the function of three pragmatic particles yani, iSte and Sey in casual, conversational Turkish. All three particles have multiple functions, which are described by reference to occurrences in utterances within three different domains of conversation. While utterance initial occurrences of yani are mainly connective and continuative, the utterance final placement of yani mainly acts as a situating particle with a strongly interactional nature. The utterance medial occurrences are basically &lsquo
self-editing&rsquo
whereby the speaker marks the clarification of a point in his/her prior talk. iSte mainly acts as a frame particle demarcating utterances as containing detailed, highlighted, and reported information as well as connecting distant pieces of utterances. The third particle Sey basically marks the speaker&rsquo
s temporary mental effort of extracting the linguistic information from the memory. In addition to its major role in repair organisation whereby marking its producer&rsquo
s verbal planning and word search, Sey displays caution and discretion and marks politeness when assessing/asserting something about the self or the other.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This comparative study investigates the English translations of China’s first novel, Sanguo yanyi. The focus is firstly on describing the factors that affect the production of each of the translations and secondly on identifying and determining the approaches and strategies used by the two translators. The primary objective of the study is to gain a better understanding of literary translation between two distinctly different languages by objectively describing and analyzing the factors relevant to the production of the two translations. The secondary objective is to evaluate the two translations by using the functionalist approach to translation. To this end, the study determines which of the two translations better serves the purpose of providing South African students of Chinese with insight into and appreciation of some aspects of Chinese culture which would enhance their Chinese studies. The key theories and models that are introduced and applied are Descriptive Translation Studies (DTS), which was mainly established by Gideon Toury in the 1980s and the Functionalist Approach, which was established by Vermeer and Reiss also in the 1980s and further developed by Nord. DTS focuses on pragmatic aspects, such as social, cultural and communicative practices instead of only on linguistic units. Within this framework, decisionmaking processes and translational norms of the two translators of Sanguo yanyi are examined. Three representative chapters of the source text and their translations are selected as the focus of the investigation. Furthermore, a description of the entire translation process is provided – from the translators’ original planning and agents acting as patrons of the project to the approaches and strategies that the translators are considered to have adopted in the process of translating. Within Functionalism the function of the target text in the target culture determines which aspects of the source text should be transferred to the target text. From this theoretical approach the findings regarding the translation strategies and processes in the translations of Sanguo yanyi are used to ultimately determine the extent to which the translators succeed in conveying the collective memory of some of the cultural-historical issues in China to the target texts, while at the same time making the texts accessible to Western (South African) students.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: In hierdie studie word daar ’n vergelykende ondersoek na twee Engelse vertalings van China se eerste roman, Sanguo yanyi, onderneem. Daar word eerstens gefokus op ’n beskrywing van die faktore wat die produksie van elk van die vertalings beïnvloed en daarna word die benaderings en strategieë geïdentifiseer wat deur die twee vertalers gebruik is. Die primêre doel van die studie is om ’n beter begrip van literêre vertaling tussen twee beduidend verskillende tale te verkry deur die faktore wat ’n rol in die betrokke vertaalprosesse speel op ’n objektiewe wyse te beskryf en te ondersoek. As sekondêre doelstelling word die twee vertalings binne die raamwerk van die funksionalistiese benadering tot vertaling geëvalueer. Daar word naamlik ondersoek watter een van die vertalings die beste slaag in die doel om aan Suid-Afrikaanse studente ’n dieper insig in en groter waardering vir sekere aspekte van die Chinese kultuur te verskaf ten einde hulle studie van die Chinese taal aan te vul. Die belangrikste teorieë en modelle wat gebruik word, is deskriptiewe vertaalstudie (DTS), wat as navorsingsrigting binne vertaling hoofsaaklik deur Gideon Toury in die tagtigerjare gevestig is, en funksionalisme, wat ook in die tagtigerjare deur Vermeer en Reiss ontwikkel is en later deur Nord uitgebrei is. DTS fokus op pragmatiese aspekte soos sosiale, kulturele en kommunikatiewe praktyke eerder as bloot op linguistiese eenhede, en die besluitnemingsprosesse en vertaalnorme van die twee vertalers van Sanguo yanyi word binne hierdie raamwerk ondersoek. Drie verteenwoordigende hoofstukke van die bronteks en hulle vertalings word as die fokus van die ondersoek gebruik. Verder kom ’n bespreking van die vertaalprosesse in die geheel aan bod – vanaf die vertalers se aanvanklike beplanning en agente wat as patronate van die projek optree tot die resepsie en invloed van die doeltekste in die Engelssprekende wêreld. Binne die funksionalisme bepaal die funksie van die doelteks binne die doelkultuur watter aspekte van die bronteks na die doelteks oorgedra word. Vanuit hierdie teoretiese benadering word die bevindinge rakende die vertaalstrategieë en –prosesse in die vertalings van Sanguo yanyi gebruik om uiteindelik te bepaal in watter mate die vertalers daarin slaag om die herinnering aan kultuurhistoriese kwessies in China in die doeltekste behoue te laat bly en die tekste terselfdertyd vir Westerse (Suid-Afrikaanse) studente toeganklik te maak.

Au début des années 1880, un grand nombre de traductions malaises de romans chinois émanant de descendants de Chinois (appelés en malais peranakan) parurent aux Indes néerlandaises sous la forme d’ouvrages imprimés. Nous avons choisi d’en étudier deux, parues simultanément pendant les années 1910-1913, à un moment où la communauté chinoise d’Insulinde essayait de repenser son identité culturelle et politique, sous les angles littéraire, philologique, historique et sociologique. Il s’agit de deux traductions complètes du Sanguo yanyi 三国演义, le plus remarquable des romans historiques chinois traitant de la période des Trois Royaumes. Une analyse textuelle, nous a permis de constater que les traducteurs des deux Sam Kok (titre abrégé couramment utilisé en Indonésie pour désigner le « Roman des Trois Royaumes »), qui n’avaient pourtant qu’une éducation chinoise du premier degré et une connaissance du malais en usage dans les milieux urbains de Java, mais une grande volonté, ont réussi à exprimer toutes les valeurs littéraires et culturelles du Sanguo yanyi. Afin d’examiner l’impact des Sam Kok sur communauté chinoise, nous les avons replacés dans leur contexte historique et dans l’ensemble des traductions parues pendant les années 1880-1910. Nous sommes parvenue ainsi à montrer que grâce à ces traductions, et particulièrement celles du « Roman des Trois Royaumes », les peranakan ont pu obtenir une certaine compréhension de l’histoire et de la culture du pays de leurs ancêtres, lesquelles constituaient aussi une partie de leur passé
In the early 1880s, the descendants of Chinese immigrants (called Peranakan in Malay) achieved and printed a large number of Malay translations of Chinese novel in the Dutch Indies. We chose to study two translations published simultaneously during the years 1910-1913 when the Chinese community of Insular Southeast Asia was trying to rethink its cultural and political identity from the literary, philological, historical and sociological angles. The research is about two complete translations of the Sanguo yanyi 三国演义, the most remarkable Chinese historical novels that depict the period of Three Kingdoms. Through textual analysis, we found that although the translators of two Sam Kok (abbreviated title commonly used in Indonesia to refer to the “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”) had some rudimentary Chinese education and knowledge of the language Malay used in the urban areas of Java, they exhibited a great willingness to express all the literary and cultural values of the novel Sanguo yanyi. In order to examine the impact of Sam Kok on the Chinese community, we have put them in their historical context and compare them with other Malay translations published during 1880-1910. Consequently, we are able to assert that, through those translations, especially those of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the peranakan have acquired some understanding of the history and culture of their ancestral country, which also constituted their past

D'emblee, je note la difficulte de traduire le terme kabyle awal. Il englobe en effet la parole en tant qu'institution, la tradition comme valeurs d'exemples, le mythe. Il faut entendre "parole" dans son sens large. Selon certains ethnologues occidentaux-ceux qui sont hors territoires kabylele kabyle est encore un "sauvage" qui meurt dans les champs de bataille, possede un sens de l'honneur et une "symbolique" de la vie. Je tente de montrer qu'il n'en est rien. Il me faut par consequent redefinir certains termes qui ont perdu leur sens premier : honneur, symbole, tribu, clan, lignage,. . . C'est fondamentalement a travers le mythe que s'est batie la theorie freudienne de la psychanalyse : une parenthese est ici ouverte pour examiner des notions telles que le chantage a la mort, l'angoisse de castration, la pulsion de mort, la mauvaise mere, pour insister sur la necessite de reformuler ces concepts, sinon d'en forger d'autres, en fonction du groupe social kabyle considere, en fonction des relations parentales et affectives entre individus. Quant au rite, il est aborde dans sa dimension diachronique : breve retrospective des "indices" d'un rite funeraire revolu, a travers l'etude des sepultures, les diverses hypotheses emises sur la survie de l'ame. L'etude de la tombe est une transition pour une etude des principes esthetiques de la mort. Elle est un mal qui peut se transmettre a travers un objet. Il en resulte maladie, sterilite, impuissance, divorce,. . . Toujours dans l'esthetique, il convient de parcourir le temoignage local sur le theme de la mort, a travers la poesie, les charades, les chants classiques ou contemporains. La ritualite, quant a elle, des schemas standard : le corps est lave, presentifie, purifie par la parole sacree du qoran. Mais mourir, ce n'est pas toujours disparaitre. Certains defunts accedent au statut de saint. Mais il n'est pas le seul a regner parmi les vivants : humains defunts, genies, demons protegent l'individu, cependant que les malins sont des predateurs. Ils font partie de l'ordre total d'at yanni. Abstract:
Sui Yangdi Yanshi (The Sensational History of Sui Emperor Yang) is a historical novel published in China in 1631. It portrays, in sometimes graphic detail, the rise and decline of Emperor Yang (reigned 605 - 613) whose obsession with massive construction projects and pursuit of sensual pleasure resulted in the collapse of the dynasty. The novel sank into relative obscurity upon the accession of the more conservative Qing dynasty (1644 - 1911). The major reason for the decline of the novel may be attributed to its inclusion in a later novel, Sui Tang Yanyi (Romance of the Sui and Tang Dynasties) which diluted the more graphic elements of the earlier work and embraced a more conservative social vision. This thesis utilises a critical methodology based on aspects of the work of the Russian critic Mikhail Bakhtin - specifically the concepts of genre, polyphony and intertextuality - to argue that the emerging vernacular novel form in seventeenth-century China is an open-ended and complex form which is capable of accommodating a variety of discourses, and which provides an environment in which a multiplicity of views are revalorised. It is argued that the novel form was regarded by intellectuals of the period as the best means of conveying human truth within the context of historicity and was a superior vehicle for the expression of the human condition than more institutionalised forms such as the Standard Imperial Histories. The thesis demonstrates that vernacular fiction displays an awareness of its fictionality and analyses the relationship between the narrative body and appended critical commentary. The final chapter utilises the concept of intertextuality to argue that creative understanding of vernacular fiction allows the reader to extend the range of meaning and exploit the latent potential of the vernacular novel form.

Este estudio es una disertación sobre la construcción de formas de pensar y de ser como una expresión mediada por cuestiones socioculturales. Se ha basado en la psicología histórico-cultural y las perspectivas hermenéuticas, postmoderno, el constructivismo estructural de las ciencias sociales. A lo largo de este trabajo, he tratado de exponer la interrelación de pensamientos / idioma / cultura / potencia como artefactos culturales que construyen formas de ser. Se planteó la hipótesis de que el pensamiento está involucrada en la producción de estas formas de ser. Este concepto permite inferir que un pensamiento es un producto de la interacción de múltiples dimensiones: ontológica, epistemológica, axiológica, ecológicos y praxeológicas. Lo mismo hacen la heterogeneidad del pensamiento verbal (Tulviste, 1992) y modela las formas de ser. Estamos asumiendo que el pensamiento es un atributo humano que tiene una génesis sociocultural y permite una comportamientos y relaciones comprensión social mejor, convirtiéndose en el punto de partida la celebración de este trabajo, además, es una de las aportaciones fundamentales de la psicología cultural a las ciencias sociales. En este estudio se considera como punto de partida que el pensamiento es un proceso sociocultural, históricamente construido y compuesto por diversas dimensiones constitutivas, ya mencionados. Esto significaría que las mentalidades herramientas o artefactos culturalmente, como el idioma y la educación, expresar este proceso y estructura compleja; quienes hacen que la reproducción social y cultural de cualquier grupo. Así que podemos decir que estos artefactos culturales mediados por cuestiones socio-culturales, juegan un papel central en la construcción de un sentido de ser; que dan el tema de las condiciones objetivas y subjetivas para la estructura personal y social, así como proporcionar con sentidos de pertenencia para la interacción con el mundo. Por otra parte, la presente investigación es una reflexión crítica sobre el cuestionamiento permanente del Estado a los pueblos indígenas, con respecto a la inclusión y el reconocimiento como personas jurídicas denominadas "naciones campesinas indígenas originales". A través de la Constitución, esta categoría sociopolítica prefigura formas complejas y contradictorias de la sociedad boliviana; el hecho en este punto es que la intención de mostrar, el respeto y fomentar las particularidades de un estado indígena son difusos y no funciona en absoluto. Esto es una contradicción, que nos ayudan a hacer esta pregunta: ¿es este mecanismo constitucional - y sus diferentes acciones políticas, especialmente la educación - que sirve para el propósito de una inclusión efectiva o se está convirtiendo en un proceso de alienación y la aculturación de los pueblos indígenas en edad y cultural paradigmas hegemónicos políticos? Si la respuesta es la segunda, nos encubierto las mismas condiciones de dominancia cultural y social con los pueblos indígenas, mediante un discurso aparentemente diferentes, pero haciendo lo mismo de todos modos. Nos acercamos a la narrativa de la experiencia educativa de las personas de Isoso. La perspectiva se ha mencionado anteriormente, trata de analizar la narrativa y el habla de las personas isoseños, como una alternativa heurístico; esta forma de entender las maneras si el ser es totalmente diferente a los de la metodología tradicional en la que el lenguaje era considerado simplemente como una comunicación formulario. Aquí exploramos algunos avances en el análisis narrativo (M. Bajtín, Iñiguez, Bruner y antaki), también viajamos alrededor de la filosofía del lenguaje (JL Austin y JR Searle), declaración de la hermenéutica (ME Husserl y Heidegger, Gadamer y P. Ricoeur GH ) y los estudios de sociología postmoderna sobre la teoría de la acción comunicativa, el idioma y la cultura (Walter Benjamin y Jürgen Habermas). Además, este trabajo se ha influenciado por algunos teóricos del constructivismo social como Kenneth Berger, Jerome Bruner, Pierre Bourdieu, Anthony Giddens y Tulviste que basaron el análisis de las interacciones sociales en la narrativa, como constructor de realidades. Eligen las historias sobre las experiencias, que se define la narrativa como una forma común de texto detallado que se pueden construir, interpretar y compartir la experiencia cotidiana. Por último, la investigación muestran una preconcepción étnica de pueblo guaraní boliviano, el pueblo isoseños, ubicada en el departamento de Santa Cruz, en el sureste de Bolivia. Su familia lingüística Tupí Guaraní es y el nombre histórico de su ciudad es Tapii-isoseños. Debemos destacar, que esta es una cultura dominada por partida doble, ya que son una minoría cultural en el contexto nacional y menos en el contexto cultural de Bolivia Guaraní, haciendo difícil extender su reproducción social y cultural.
This study is a dissertation about the construction of ways of thinking and being as an expression mediated by socio-cultural issues. It is been based on historical and cultural psychology and hermeneutic perspectives, postmodern, structural constructivism of social science. Throughout this work, I have tried to expose the interrelation of thoughts / language / culture / power as cultural artefacts that build ways of being. It hypothesized that thought is involved in the production of these ways of being. This concept allows to inferring that a thought is a product of the interaction of multiple dimensions: ontological, axiological, epistemological, ecological and praxeological. The same make the heterogeneity of verbal thinking (Tulviste, 1992) and modelled the ways of being. We are assuming that thinking is a human attribute that has a sociocultural genesis and allows a better social behaviours and relationships understanding, becoming the starting point holding this job, as well, it is one of the fundamental contributions of cultural psychology to social sciences. This study considers as a starting point that thinking is a sociocultural process, historically constructed and composed by various constituent dimensions, already mentioned. It would mean that mind-tools or culturally artefacts, such as language and education, express this complex process and structure; those make the social and cultural reproduction of any group. So we can say that these cultural artefacts mediated by socio-cultural issues, play a central role in the construction of a sense of being; which give the subject of objective and subjective conditions for personal and social structure, as well as provide it with senses of membership for the interaction with the world. Moreover, this investigation is a critical reflection about the permanent questioning of the State to indigenous people, with respect to inclusion and recognition as legal entities called "original indigenous peasant nations". Through the Constitution, this socio-political category prefigures complex and contradictory forms of Bolivian society; the fact in this point is that the intention to show, respect and encourage the particularities of an indigenous state are diffused and does not work at all. This is a contradiction, which help us to make this question: is this constitutional mechanism - and its various political actions, especially education – serving to the purpose of an effective inclusion or it’s becoming an alienation and acculturation process of indigenous people into old cultural and political hegemonic paradigms? If the answer is the second one, we would undercover the same conditions of cultural and social dominancy with indigenous people, using an apparently different speech, but doing the same anyway. We approach the narrative of the educational experience of the people from Isoso. The perspective mentioned above, try to analyse the narrative and speech of isoseño people, as a heuristic alternative; this way of understanding the ways if being is totally different from those traditional methodology’s in which the language was considered just as a form communication. Here we explore some developments in narrative analysis (M. Bajtin, Iñiguez, Bruner and Antaki), we also travel around the philosophy of language (JL Austin and JR Searle), hermeneutics statements (M. E. Husserl and Heidegger, Gadamer and P. Ricoeur GH) and postmodern sociology studies on the theory of communicative action, language and culture (Walter Benjamin and Jürgen Habermas). In addition, this work is been influenced by some theorists of social constructivism as Kenneth Berger, Jerome Bruner, Pierre Bourdieu, Anthony Giddens and Tulviste who based the analysis of social interactions in narrative, as a builder of realities. They choose the stories about the experiences, defined the narrative as a common form of detailed text that can construct, interpret and share everyday experience. Finally, the investigation show an ethnic preconception of Bolivian Guarani people, the Isoseño people, located in the department of Santa Cruz, in southeastern Bolivia. Their linguistic family is Tupi Guarani and the historical name of their town is Tapii-isoseños. We must emphasize, that this is a doubly dominated culture, because they are a cultural minority in the national context and less in the Bolivian Guarani cultural context, making difficult to extend their social and cultural reproduction.

La littérature des Coréens du Japon ou la littérature des Coréens zainichi (zainichi signifie littéralement « étant au Japon ») obtient une large reconnaissance sur la scène littéraire japonaise à partir de la fin des années 1960, mais l’apparition des premiers écrivains zainichi remonte au lendemain de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale, dans une période marquée par la décolonisation de la Corée et plus tard par la guerre de Corée. Le présent travail consiste à mettre en perspective le processus de construction d’un discours littéraire à caractère identitaire et ce jusqu’à sa mise en question, ainsi qu’à examiner les stratégies esthétiques que mettent en œuvre les écrivains afin de se démarquer de la littérature japonaise. Cette recherche porte principalement sur le travail de trois écrivains majeurs de cette littérature : Kim Tal-su 金達寿(1919-1997), Kim Sŏk-pŏm 金石範(1925-) et Yi Yang-ji李良枝(1955-1992) qui représentent respectivement la période de l’émergence de l’écriture zainichi de 1946 jusqu’au début des années 1950, celle de la reconnaissance d’un statut littéraire spécifique au début des années 1970 et celle du renouvellement tant thématique que narratif des années 1980. Si ces auteurs se distinguent dans leur thématique et dans leur style, ils ont en commun d’inventer une nouvelle écriture dans une situation d’exigence – autrement dit diasporique – où représenter chaque vie et chaque voix singulière peut aussitôt prendre une dimension mémorielle aussi bien que politique. Ainsi, l’évolution de la littérature zainichi est-elle aussi celle de la voix narrative qui se forme et se renouvelle dans cette tension permanente entre le subjectif et le collectif
Zainichi Korean literature (zainichi literally meaning “to be in Japan”) has met widespread recognition on the Japanese literary scene since the late 1960s. But in fact Korean zainichi writers emerged earlier: in the aftermath of WW2, during the decolonization of Korea and the subsequent Korean War. This dissertation focuses on the construction process of a new literary discourse, intricately linked to the question of identity, but also on the criticism it underwent. Furthermore, this work analyzes the aesthetic strategies used by each author to distance theirs works from Japanese literature. This dissertation focuses on the following three authors: Kim Tal-su (1919-1997), Kim Sŏk-pŏm (1925-) and Yi Yang-ji (1955-1992), who respectively represent a period of development of zainichi literature: the emergence of zainichi writers between 1946 to early 1950, the establishment of a new literary category in the early 1970s, and the thematical and narrative renewal in the 1980s.These authors worked on different themes and wrote in distinct styles, and yet their writings were all born within a complex relationship to their community, as a minority and diaspora. As such, they narrate individual histories, which also carry a memorial and political dimension. Thus, the history of zainichi literature is also a history of individual voices, which emerge from and permanently renew the tension between the subjective and the collective

In mythology, “hero” is an important motive that reflects ancient people’s resistance against the nature and carries some positive meanings. In stories with this motive, the protagonist is usually shaped as a “heroic figure” to win readers’ admiration and support. Set in the era where King Wu would overthrow King Zhou under the assistance of Jiang Ziya to establish the Zhou Dynasty, Fengshen Yanyi retells stories about battles between Shang and Zhou and between deities and immortals of Chanjiao and Jiejiao called upon by the two sides. In Fengshen Yanyi, historical events are mythologized with romantic and magical elements to offer space for imagination and highlight certain heroic images. Using Fengshen Yanyi as the text, this study selected five roles with most distinctive images and personalities, including Jiang Ziya, Nezha, Yang Jian, Huang Feihu, and Huang Tienhua, for research. This study analyzed their personalities and encounters before being elevated to gods and how their heroic images could conform to the definition of “hero” so as to attract adolescent readers’ attention and influence them. Through this research, the author attempted to offer contemporary readers a different perspective and new interpretations of a classical work.
