Full textIn the Yatenga kingdom, Fulbe people established as of the XVIIIth century, and submitted to the moose authorities. The colonial period brought them an important chage because five groupes became "canton" and their chiefs were allotted a power they could never have hoped. This thesis aims to understand first the place of fulbe chiefdoms in the sight of their history and transformations, but also how today they deal with the management of goods and services considered as collective. We can see through the comparison of two chiefdoms that chiefs know how to achieve their projects. They have adopted the same strategy : they rely on the past to legitimate their position in the society. However, their approach is different : one relies on Islam, the other one on development projects

Full textThe aim of this study is to present a technological analysis of three activities, defined here as three technical entites - cooking pootery and gardening. Production chains were chosen to describe various productions within each technical entity. This manner of proceeding allowed us to formalise all the observations gathered concerning the technical activities under scrutiny and to propose three technical patterns. This setting up of production chains compelled us to follow one or several basic materials throughout the various stages of their transformation right up to the endproduct. This led us to focus on the main skills as well as the social and symbolic data that condition any technical activity. It also helped identify some factors of technical evolution. Finally, having chosen production chains which lead to money-based exchanges, our analysis of the techniques of moose women allowed us to identify the processes which govern professional specialisations as well as the signs of new trends in the control of technological skills and in the differences which establish one's identity

Full textSince the colonial period and particularly since the great drought in the beginning of the 70's, as far as food production is concerned the yatenga (north-western part of Burkina Faso) knows a series of "bad" years. This production crisis coupled with the food problems which follow from that are not only explained by the pejoration of the ecological conditions but by the pratices conceived by human beings with a view to softening the harmful effects which exacerbate them in the end. In the face of the sbeer seale of the food producing gap (a non-stop cereal producing gap) the old systems of endogenous regulations for the satisfaction of the food consumytion needs turn out to be inefficacious. In the face of such problems this society has its awn solutions which are : emigration (particularly movements related to the "farm colonization" in the western part of Burkina (Kossi), the resort to toher sources of income means (not necessarily related to agricultural ones) and shopping at the markets that last soluton is derived from the consequences of the first one. Food security that area is benceforth insured through. .

Full textThe Yatenga region, located north-west of Burkina Faso alongside the Nakanbe river (former white volta river), is rich in archeological sites which are the evidence of former deserted villages with relativity dense seedlings. Traces of ancient populating which can be found in all the northern region of Burkina are materialised by anthropical knolls grouping associated with bare lands with or without traces, cemeteries covered with funeral large eathenware pots, acacia albida tree-parcs, agrarian structures, hydraulics works and traces of artcraft activities, particularly ceramic and metal work activities. The distribution of the sites in the mandscape shows a preference for settling areas with poliorcetic advantages and with a wide accessibility to ressources, necessary to a sedentary farming life. Enquiries on the cultural and ethnical attribution of the sites, the archeological relics through historical traditions of the Kurumbas and of the moose often let appear a relation with the Kibse whose descendants are said to be the present time Dogon of Bandiagara in Mali and the sites. The complexity of the populating process of this region of the Niger river sweep is to be emphasized. A systematical interpretation of the whole of the historical and archeological data makes partial this attribution of the sites to the Kibsedogon tribes, because of the "successive piling up" of population strate prior to the moose conquest, belonging to various stocks. This work is exemplary because it poses. .

Full textThe subject deals with the implications of the landed policy, the urban housing and planning in the housing situation in ouagadougou, urban center. There fore, the landed regulation adopted after the independance of burkina-faso (the law 77 60 an of july 12, 1960) has lead to the birth of situations such as landed speculations and especially, such as proliferation of precarious housing areas (spontanious housing quarters). The urban regulation, operated by the authorities was confronted to landed difficulties and to thesocial conditions of the urban populations: in 1984, a reform on land was set up by the "conseil national de la revolution" (c. N. R), (ordonnance 84 050 cnr pres of august 4, 1984). The landed dualism which caracterised the first landed regilation disappeared. Howwever, the urban housing policy has failed. And for a very good reason. The new authorities had neither the means of their policy, nor the will to solve the problems linked to the acces of decent accommodations for the great majority of the urban population
