Alexander, Kazankov. "Thirst for Miracle: Rural Intelligentsia in the Years of Ordeals." TECHNOLOGOS, no. 1 (2021): 15–35. http://dx.doi.org/10.15593/perm.kipf/2021.1.02.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the historical reconstruction of the spiritual experience of the priest Feodor Alexandrovich Yegorov. The materials of archival-investigative case № 21183, stored in the fund 643/2 of Perm State Archive of Social and Political History have been the resource of the article. The complexity of the subject and the scattered nature of the documentary evidence suggest the use of the phenomenological instruments and K. Ginzburg's evidence paradigm. The formation of A.F. Yegorov's personality began against the background of the "era of wars and revolutions", and ended approximately in the "year of the great turning point", which determines the chronological framework of the study. Prior to the revolution of 1917 being the son of a simple craftsman he was able to make a career and became a teacher in a parochial school. F.A. Yegorov became a typical representative of the rural intelligentsia. During the Civil War he found himself in Irkutsk "retreating with the Whites." There he managed to enter the university. Surviving testimonies of that time characterize F.A. Yegorov as a man indifferent to religion or even an atheist. In 1926 he survived his conversion to the Orthodox faith and became a sacristan in one of the churches in Kungur area. From that moment a distinctly mystical component was fixed in his spiritual experience. His new-found faith allowed him to see miracles everywhere, and his contemplation of the miracle strengthened his faith. After becoming a priest, F.A. Yegorov (together with his confessor, N. I. Krylov) took an irreconcilable stand against the church policy of Metropolitan Sergius Stragorodsky. His ecclesiastical dissidence and inner experience of contemplating miracles eventually led him to division of the clergy into "graceful" and "unblessed”. In the article it is drawn a parallel between the fate of Priest F. Yegorov and Archpriest I. Kotelnikov, who was written about by the author earlier.

Abstract:
Thе article is dedicated to description of two late sixteenth-century manuscripts containing the Russian Chronograph in the 1512 recension. Held today in two separate Moscow manuscript collections, they were identifi ed as parts of a single whole in the work of M. V. Shchepkina and T. N. Protasieva, yet they have not previously been comprehensively de-scribed. The article off ers a detailed analysis of the watermarks, hands, orthography, and language (in particular regarding accentuation) of this bifurcated chronograph. The fi rst manuscript is kept as no. 202 in the collection of E. E. Yegorov in the Russian State Library. The second is no. 1695 in the collection of E. V. Barsov in the State Historical Museum. The Yegorov manuscript was written on the same type of paper by three distinct scribes, whereas the Barsov manuscript was written on seven diff erent types of paper yet in a single hand that may be identifi ed as that of one of the scribes of the Yegorov manuscript. Furthermore, it has been possible to identify one of the watermarks in the Barsov manuscript precisely: it is watermark no. 1700 in the E. Laucevič ius’ catalogue — the Polish Topór coat of arms beneath a crescent moon on a cartouche, which is represented in Lithuanian manuscripts of 1593 and 1594. The pages of the Yegorov manuscript are two-thirds given to illumina-tion, whereas the Barsov manuscript provides space only for miniatures and initials. It has been proposed by A. A. Turilov that this bifurcated chronograph was intended for Тsar Fedor Ioannovich, but was not com-pleted due to his death in 1598.

Abstract:
This paper analyzes the science fiction novel El imperio de Yegorov by Manuel Moyano (2014) applying the apperception theory of fantastic linkages. In this novel –composed by different typologies of apparently non-fictional texts compiled by apocryphal editors–, the factual construction of the dystopian Possible World (PW2) of the story is materialized thanks to rigidly designated fictional elements, direct references of the actual world with which he builds the type I world model of the first part (PW1). Applying the cognitive approach of the apperception theory and the analytical scheme on the text, this paper highlights the way in which the paratextual elements of the novel produce metaleptic displacements that dis-locate and re-locate the reading around different attractors that transgress the fictional logic and derive towards the creation of an Impossible World IW.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper focuses on three chapters about captain Yegorov and Katya Lugina in Sergei Dovlatov’s novel entitled Зона (The Zone: A Prison Camp Guard’s Story). The intertext shown and discussed in the paper suggests that the three chapters may be viewed as a ‘modified version’ of Ernest Hemingway’s WWI novel A Farewell to Arms. We then use the intertext as the basis for the discussion of Dovlatov’s dialogue with Hemingway and the value of Hemingway’s personality and works for Dovlatov. We analyze two aspects of Dovlatov’s dialogue with Hemingway: (1) Dovlatov’s emotional response to Hemingway’s novel and (2) Dovlatov’s contemplation of esthetics of art. In the end, we discuss the notion of tradition in connection with Dovlatov’s dialogue with Hemingway.

The article traces the connection of mining engineer Konstantin Fedorovich Egorov biography with his contribution to the Fersman Mineralogical Museum collection. His long and fruitful cooperation with the Museum and collectors gives reason to believe that Museum's collection may include more than 1643 samples for which his authorship was indicated. Behind the richest collection, gathered by him during his work in the Russian Empire and in exile, there are a number of discoveries in mineralogy, geology, paleontology, an eventful and dramatic history of the first half of the XX century.

Abstract:
In August 1920 the turning-point operations of the Polish-Soviet war took place. A battle was fought at the Wkra, Vistula and Wieprz rivers, which led to pushing back the Western Front troops of komandarm Mikhail Tukhachevsky from Warsaw and breaking up of part of his forces. The same month, in the southern section of the front, the Polish Army defended Lviv against the attempts of komandarms Alexander Yegorov and Semyon Budyonny. In the fights for Lviv, the Polish troops confronted the forces of the South-Western Front, including the legendary 1st Cavalry Army, which was the main force of the Bolsheviks intending to conquer the capital of Galicia. The Polish command, having no reserves at its disposal, directed the 3rd Air Squadron of Major Pilot Cedric Faunt le Roy to fight against the „Horsearmy”. Despite the strength of even four escadrilles at its peak (5th and 6th Reconnaissance Escadrilles, 7th Fighter Escadrille and, with time, 15th Fighter Escadrille), between 9–19 August it had in fact only a few operational planes. In spite of this, the Polish crews were tirelessly performing their tasks: reconnoitering enemy forces – their intentions and composition – and, most importantly, delaying their march. In this article the author describes the composition and tasks of the 3rd Air Squadron, and the course of its fights against the 1st Cavalry Army in August 9–19, 1920. He also drew attention to the combat tactics of Polish aviators, which he analyzed accordingly

Abstract:
Considering the simplicity and ease of use, in recent years, more and more attention deserves medicated chewing gum (MCG), which plays the role of oral drug delivery system. Since this product remains in the oral cavity for a longer time than other oral medicines, the taste is one of the important features of the MCG. It is known, that one of the ways to correct and mask the taste of medicines is the addition of intense sweeteners, which not only affect the taste characteristics of the ready product, but also can influence the physic-chemical and technological properties of the active components. The aim of this work was the selection of the optimal intensive sweetener in the developed dental MCG with lysozyme hydrochloride and ascorbic acid. As natural flavourers, we studied natural and synthetic intensive sweeteners: potassium acesulfame, aspartame, sodium cyclamate, sodium saccharin, stevia and sucralose. The choice of flavouring agents was carried out using organoleptic methods for evaluating the taste with the help of numerical indexes by A. I. Tentsova and use of alphabetic and numerical indexes by I. A. Yegorov, and also by studying the crystallographic properties of intense sweeteners and their mixtures with active pharmaceutical ingredients. According to the obtained results, all compositions, except for the sample with sodium saccharin, had a corrective property and had a similar sweet-sour taste. However, not all of them had a long sweet aftertaste, which is very important for this dosage form. The highest numerical indices were samples of MCG with sodium cyclamate, stevia and sucralose. By conducting a microscopic analysis of mixtures of active pharmaceutical ingredients with the investigated intense sweeteners were predicted possible methods of obtaining the developed solid dosage form – the method of direct compression or the use of preliminary granulation. Taking into account the complex of the obtained results, sucralose has the best correcting and physic-chemical characteristics of all the investigated intense sweeteners.

Abstract:
Abstract Background: The development of successful immunotherapy targeting antigens in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) remains a challenge owing to antigen heterogeneity and the low mutation burden in GBM. Cancer immunogenomics represents a complementary approach to the application of genomics in developing novel immunotherapies for GBM. Our goal is to develop a personalized RNA-based therapeutic vaccine that simultaneously targets a selected pool of tumor rejection antigens including all neoantigens and tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) as identified using cancer immunogenomics. We evaluated the treatment efficacy of these RNA therapeutics in combination with adoptive cellular therapy and checkpoint inhibitors. Methods: We identified immunogenic neoantigens and TAAs that are aberrantly overexpressed in KR158-luc and GL261 murine GBM tumors using our cancer immunogenomics pipeline called the Open Reading Frame Antigen Network (O.R.A.N.). A tumor antigen-specific RNA library was created for each tumor using a novel gene enrichment strategy and validated by RNAseq. Tumor-bearing animals were treated with adoptively transferred ex vivo expanded lymphocytes and dendritic cells loaded with the tumor antigen-specific RNA as vaccines. Additionally, we treated animals with the tumor antigen-specific RNA vaccines in combination with anti-PD-1 checkpoint-blockade therapy. Tumor progression and survival outcomes were analyzed to evaluate the treatment efficacies. We determined the peripheral and tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte responses using flow cytometry, TCR sequencing, and single cell RNAseq. Results: The tumor antigen-specific RNA vaccines were significantly effective in slowing the progression of murine GBM tumors in combination with both the adoptive cellular therapy and the checkpoint blockade therapy and improved the outcome of these therapies as compared to monotherapy alone. Additionally, we identified antigen-specific T cells targeting several of our predicted antigens and an increase in tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and memory T cells in the treated animals. Conclusion: Here, we developed an RNA-based immunotherapy that simultaneously targets numerous tumor-specific antigens and demonstrated its therapeutic efficacy in preclinical models of GBM. Abstract:

The paper is devoted to analytical investigation of the division of geographical space into urban and rural areas with application to Russia. Yegorov (2005, 2006, 2009) has suggested the role of population density on economics. A city has an attractive potential based on scale economies. The optimal city size depends on the balance between its attractive potential and the cost of living that can be approximated by equilibrium land rent and commuting cost. For moderate scale effects optimal population of a city depends negatively on transport costs that are related positively with energy price index.

The optimal agricultural density of population can also be constructed. The larger is a land slot per peasant, the higher will be the output from one unit of his labour force applied to this slot. But at the same time, larger farm size results in increase of energy costs, related to land development, collecting the crop and bringing it to the market.

In the last 10 years we have observed substantial rise of both food and energy prices at the world stock markets. However, the income of farmers did not grow as fast as food price index. This can shift optimal rural population density to lower level, causing migration to cities (and we observe this tendency globally). Any change in those prices results in suboptimality of existing spatial structures.

If changes are slow, the optimal infrastructure can be adjusted by simple migration. If the shocks are high, adaptation may be impossible and shock will persist. This took place in early 1990es in the former USSR, where after transition to world price for oil in domestic markets existing spatial infrastructure became suboptimal and resulted in persistent crisis, leading to deterioration of both industry and agriculture.

Russia is the largest country but this is also its problem. Having large resource endowment per capita, it is problematic to build sufficient infrastructure. Russia has too low population density and rural density declines further due to low fertility and migration to cities. Those factors limited the growth of the USSR, but after the economic reforms of 1990s the existing infrastructure became exposed to permanent shock of high transport costs. Due to large distances it is optimal to return to gasoline and thus transport subsidy. This will work also against disintegration of the country.

Abstract:
Ways of organizing the narrative system in his book “From the Polish Card of Leo Tolstoy”, which was published in Olshtyn in 2003, and its constructiveness are characterized in this article, which is based on analytical and hermeneutic and receptive methodology, taking into account the assessments of an outstanding Polish scientist, Tolstoy expert, one of the organizers of Tolstoy science in Poland – Basil Byalokozovich by polonists O. Tsybenko, V. Khorev, O. Rozynska, I. Rudziewicz and others. The expediency of raising the problem – the specifics of Polish scientist`s methodology, is substantiated. In this regard, the purpose of this article is to describe the techniques and methods of organizing Byalokozovich`s narrative system aimed at achieving the greatest effectiveness of textual discourse. The topicality of the problem is confirmed by the position of B. Yegorov: “Literary work is unthinkable without the form analysis”. It is proved that B. Byalokozovich`s approaches to the disclosure of the problems raised by him, the persuasiveness of his arguments, the skill of organizing the narrative system and the creation of a large dialogic field covering space-time from 1898 to the middle of the twentieth century are of great interest. It is emphasized that the text is built on the classical principle – from the general picture to a detailed analysis of assessments of Tolstoy`s works by Polish writers and scholars. B. Byalokozovich's emphasis on the fact that the novel “War and Peace” came to Poland only in Western European languages, and the publication of small works by Leo Tolstoy in “Warsaw Diary” was considered insignificant. The titles of all chapters-medallions are characterized as concentrated text. The methodological perspective of the content of the monograph title “From the Polish Card of Leo Tolstoy” is considered, where the key role is played by the word map, thanks to which all authors with their own conceptual vision of Leo Tolstoy appear visually and in dialogue on the space-time modus. Difficult relations between E. Ozheshko and L. Tolstoy are shown on the basis of human documents: Polish writer throughout her life sought to talk to him, but L. Tolstoy, giving way to her story “Jedna setna” (“One Hundredth”), spoke sharply about E. Ozheshko`s sentimentalism. But the writer also subjected the composition of his novels to merciless criticism. Attention is drawn to the following methodological feature of B. Byalokozovich, manifested in the fact that he gives large fragments of evidence in the original language. This is fundamental because the scientist thus supports the position of O. Potebnia that the opinion expressed in another language is different. It is noted that in B. Byalokozovich each section is a concentrated monograph. B. Byalokozovich presented a complete picture of intellectual life of the whole era in Russia, which is intense and full of contradictions.

Abstract:
The work is devoted to the poetics of duality in F. Abramov’s tetralogy Brothers and Sisters. The analysis of the duality models allows to imagine historical, social, political reality, the minimal structure of the human community: one and the other. At the center of the study are the key characters of the tetralogy, namely, Mikhail Pryaslin and Yegorshi Stavrov, who embody the eschatological Russian model of duality. The analysis of these characters is carried out against the background of the character structure as a whole. Within a Christian context, the Mikhail — Yegorsha twin pair is included in a broad semantic field. Yegorsha compares his sworn brother with Christ. According to the legend, the latter’s twin was apostle Thomas, whose name coincidentally means ‘a twin.’ If Mikhail is firmly associated with Christ, then Egorsha can be semantically identified with both Judas and Thomas (in all connotations). The destruction of the “country model,” the Russian schism also actualizes another version of duality: George the Victory-bearer and Yegoriy the troublebearer, which is already reflected at the level of character naming. The struggle of the “twin” heroes over a woman, ancestral land and the house, which is interpreted as a confrontation between Christ and the Antichrist, St. George and the “bad Yegorka” (changeling), is also implemented as the “Russian” version — Foma and Erema, in which the doubles lose to the circumstances. Peasant Russia is in captivity of civilization, and no one is able to protect it: the warriors die, the saints abandon the icons. This leads to the general sense of anxiety, of a life “between homes,” when the “prodigal son,” who has nowhere to go back to, becomes the modern hero.

Kuznetsova, Vera S. "A large spiritual verse about Yegory the Brave in Russian Siberian text." Sibirskiy filologicheskiy zhurnal, no. 1 (2025): 9–26. https://doi.org/10.17223/18137083/90/1.

Abstract:
The paper presents a new archival text of a spiritual verse about Yegory the Brave. It was recorded by F. K. Zobnin on June 9, 1896 in the Tobolsk province, 17 miles from the city of Semipalatinsk on the Holy Spring (the place of worship of the icon of the Mother of God of the Sign or Abalak) from the Siberian peasant-stihar Maxim Ivanovich Mordvin. The record under consideration is a detailed and comprehensive rendition of an extensive verse concerning Yegory the Brave, exhibiting characteristics of a heroic epic and possessing a length comparable to medium-length bylinas. Most of the known texts of the verse have been calculated by B. M. Sokolov to be between 130 and 180 verse-lines. However, the variant recorded by Zobnin contains 232 verses and it is the first Siberian fixation of the verse about Yegory the Brave. Additionally, this record allows clarifying the geography of the existence of the verse about Yegory the Brave and the repertoire of Russian spiritual verses in Siberia. At the same time, the text under analysis supplements the general corpus of the known records of the large verse about Yegory the Brave with a new, complete version. Thus, it expands the source base of the forms of existence of spiritual verse as a manifestation of the mechanisms of adaptation of Christian plots in the system of folk representations.

The review is a critical response to the monograph «Image advertorial as phenomenon of the contemporary media landscape» by L.G. Yegorova. The monograph makes a deep linguistic discourse analysis of the notion of media text, and shows relevant category features and ontological properties of image advertorial. The work is a coherent inter-disciplinary research, where the genre of image advertorial in Russian mass media discourse is studied from the position of linguo-sociological culturology and psycholinguistics, and from a communicative-pragmatic point of view.

Abstract:
One of the oldest Russian diplomats, Yegor Yegorovich Staal, spent a significant part of his career as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, the Empress of India. He made a significant contribution to the stabilization of Russian-English relations. It was a period of acute conflicts and crises in the international arena in the mid-80s – late 90s of the XIX century. No special studies on Staal have yet been published. The limited scope of the article does not allow us to present a complete picture of his activities in the diplomatic field. The author of the article saw her task in highlighting the main milestones of the diplomat's life and views, professional techniques and methods that he used during the negotiations on the Afghan border in 1884–1885 and as the head of the Russian delegation at the First Peace Conference in 1899 in the Hague. The source base of the study was the publication of diplomatic documents unpublished reports of Staal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, materials of his personal archive preserved in the State Archive of the Russian Federation, as well as his letters deposited in the GA of the Russian Federation. The awards received by Staal in his native fatherland and those states where he represented the interests of Russia indicate a high appreciation of his fruitful works.

Abstract:
The ability of an Orwellian society to bend the will of individuals and force them to change their minds is well known. Putin’s Russia, however, has proved that not only a harsh totalitarian state, such as the Soviet Union, but also a somewhat milder, authoritarian regime is able to achieve almost the same result. Such a regime can threaten to diminish the income, privileges or social status of prominent people. By murdering or jailing only a few active people (businesspeople, journalists and politicians), the regime can show its potential opponents that everyone in the country is vulnerable. Looking back on Stalin’s time, one cannot help but think that he could have achieved his goals and stayed in power until his death without using such horrendous acts of violence. The ideological evolution of Yegor Gaidar represents a strong piece of evidence in support of this thesis.

Abstract:
Introduction. Diary manuscripts in historical scholarship are a curious material, which in most cases is a unique testimony of the era. Numerous such sources have been discovered and published on the Russian history of the 19th century. It was mainly the nobility and intellectuals who had the opportunity to keep diaries. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries they were joined by merchants. Materials and methods. The rarest phenomenon remains the diaries of city dwellers, in particular those of peasant origin. In 2009, Tambov historians prof. Kanischev and Lyamin published a unique material: the diary of E. A. Kovrigin, a Tambovite. Results. This source contains interesting information on the life of a man who belonged to the trade-industrial strata of the provincial town - the so-called "silent estate". The article presents an analysis of the diary in its historical context, in particular the notes concerning the author's participation in the State Mobile Militia. The part of the diary devoted to the author's participation in the Tambov militia is of particular interest because it allows us to compare the official data available to us - such as the route of the squads - with the real state of affairs. Conclusion. The study and analysis of the diary of Kovrigin not only showed us a portrait of a particular man and the details of his personal life, but also revealed important details of significant events in Russian history, the realities of everyday life of a 19th century man, and also showed by example how the mentality of a provincial man was transformed in the transition from a traditional to an industrial society.

Abstract:
The article discusses the functioning of anthroponyms and allusive names in Yegor Letov’s creative activity within the framework of functional linguistics. A recipient's consciousness connects the text and the reality during the process of text perception, i.e the verbal images system (reflections of the word forms in the person’s consciousness) and "objective" images system (images of reality phenomena and situations) are connected. Language laws regulate the system of verbal images. This system has a syntagmatic character that reflects the linear principle of the text disposition in the act of reception. Verbal images generate "objective" images on the conceptual level (level of thinking). The connections between these images are paradigmatic and the text understanding determines them. The system of "objective" images can be considered as a conceptual paradigm, and the system that generates a conceptual paradigm is a verbal paradigm. The paradigms WE and THEY are the dominant paradigms of Yegor Letov’s creative activity. These paradigms contradict one another in the framework of analyzed texts. The law of anthroponyms and allusive names use for the formation of the rock poet’s main antinomy WE-THEY is established.

Abstract:
First of all, we should especially point out the promising nature of the semiotic perspective of studying text in line with transformations of cultural codes, concepts of the relationship between the visual and the verbal. In view of this, the article is an attempt to update the ways of intermedial research into ways of incorporating rock objects into a film text. Attention is focused on artistic film works, where in one way or another the phenomena of Yegor Letov’s universe could be presented in their various expressions - from purely nominative to multi-level and structure-forming in relation to these works. Such a summative analysis made it possible not so much to characterize general interrelated phenomena as to show the possibilities of mutual influence of visual, verbal and acoustic-musical textual series. Modern philology points to the promising nature of the semiotic perspective of studying text in line with transformations of cultural codes, concepts of the relationship between the visual and the verbal. In view of this, the article is an attempt to update the ways of intermedial research into ways of incorporating rock objects into a film text. Attention is focused on artistic film works. Such works present the phenomena of Yegor Letov’s creativity. Forms of presentation: simple and multi-level. The following situations are considered: conscious quotation and representation of a specific quote by the director/screenwriter; re-interpretation of Letov's texts by film authors; fragments of Letov’s texts that are presented implicitly (minus technique); Expanding quotes from interviews. Such a summative analysis made it possible to characterize the general phenomena of quoting Letov’s poetry through cinema. The possibilities of mutual influence of visual, verbal and acoustic-musical textual series are also shown.
