Experiment was carried out to bring out the genotypic variations from a broad genetic base and to utilise the best attribute in achieving higher grain yields. The results indicated significant genotypic differences in yield attributes and yield. The association analysis showed a significant positive relationship of grain yield with productive tillers, filled grain number per panicle, 1000 grain weight and harvest index. Among the yield attributes productive tillers, filled grain number per panicle and harvest index contributed to a greater extent in achieving the productivity. This indicates,

Dairy activity expansion has resulted in increased manure volume produced, with the main destination application in agricultural areas. Accordingly, the aims of this study were to (i) evaluate the effects of dairy liquid manure (DLM), in addition to mineral fertilisation, on crop yields over a 9-year period and (ii) identify the soil chemical attributes modified by the manure, and which most affect grain yield. The experiment was conducted from 2005 to 2015 in a no-tillage system, in Paraná state, Brazil, in soil with sandy clay loam texture. The treatments consisted of four doses of DLM (0, 6

Biomass yield from Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis is conditional on soil attributes. With the silvicultural practice currently being used in Brazil, Pinus stands might produce lower yields due to nutrient shift from harvest and due to changes in the edaphic environment from mechanization. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate chemical and physical soil attributes and determine which are correlated with higher biomass yields. Crop production must be increased substantially in the near future to maintain the present balance with food demand. As a large increase in growing area seems unthinkable, we must further increase crop yields significantly. Climate model projections suggest that higher temperatures will become commonplace in most regions where grain crops are produced, and deleterious effects of high temperature on crop yields are well documented. In this context, it is critical identifying genetic and management tools to mitigate the effect of high temperatures on yield. Nitrogen (N) fertilisation is one of t

Since the fraction nonconforming is low, the lower control limit of a p chart is usually negative and no process improvement can be detected. For above mentioned reasons, the p chart is inadequate for monitoring and control of product attributes in the processes of very high yields.

Abstract:
Abstract Historically, the primary focus of direct examination (commonly referred to as “bell hole inspection”) was to assess coating condition and describe the attributes of mechanical damage or corrosion in addition to verifying wall thickness, diameter and perhaps seam type. With recent regulatory emphasis on verifying the accuracy of pipeline data, the role of in-situ, nondestructive determination of metallurgical attributes becomes increasingly important. This paper describes nondestructive analyses that can be performed on operating pipelines to evaluate steel composition, yield strength

Reactive crystallization (RC) is a chemical process in which the reaction yields a crystalline product. It is used in various industries such as pharmaceutical manufacturing or water purification. In some cases, RC is the only feasible process pathway, such as the precipitation of certain ionic solids from solution. In other cases, a reaction can become a RC by changing the reaction environment to a solvent with low product-solubility. Despite the utility and prevalence of RC, it is not often emphasized in process design software. There are RC models that simulate the inner reactions and dynam

The goal of the survey was to determine if SSR testing methods yield useful data in predicting stress-corrosion cracking (SCC) susceptibility of metals used in the Chemical Process Industry (CPI). The information was obtained by searching the literature and by sending out questionnaires to relevant sources. It was concluded that most reported cases of anomolous behavior with the SSR test techn

Abstract The long-term creep strength of creep strength-enhanced ferritic steels has been overestimated due to changes in the stress dependence of creep rupture life at lower stress levels. To address this, creep rupture strength has been reassessed using a region-splitting analysis method, leading to reductions in the allowable tensile stress of these steels as per Japan’s METI Thermal Power Standard Code in December 2005 and July 2007. This method evaluates creep rupture strength separately in high and low stress regimes, divided at 50% of the 0.2% offset yield stress, which corresponds appr

Network clustering tackles the problem of identifying sets of nodes (clusters or communities) that have similar connection patterns. However, in many modern scenarios, nodes also have attributes that are correlated with the network structure. Thus, network information (edges) and node information (attributes) can be jointly leveraged to design high-performance clustering algorithms. Under a general model for the network and node attributes, this thesis establishes an information-theoretic criterion for the exact recovery of community labels and characterizes a phase transition determined by th

Abstract The House of Quality is an established model for human centric product development, that among other aspects uses both customer attributes and product requirements to define a product and its most important features. Industry application of this model is difficult due to its overall complexity and lack of clear instructions on how to specifically build a catalogue of customer attributes from user research in particular and how to prioritize them. This contribution seeks to simplify customer attribute formation and management by introducing the concept of non-use within a use case. Typ

Drought stress is a major limitation to bread wheat (Triticumaestivum L.) productivity and its yield stability in arid and semi-arid regions of world including parts of Israel and the U.S. Currently, breeding for sustained yields under drought stress is totally dependent on the use of yield and several key physiological attributes as selection indices. The attempt to identify the optimal genotype by evaluating the phenotype is undermining progress in such breeding programs. Osmotic adjustment (OA) is an effective drought resistance mechanism in many crop plants. Evidence exists that there is a
