This study was conducted during 2016-2018 at the Agriculture Research Station of King Abdulaziz University at Hada Al-Sham, Saudi Arabia. The study aimed to evaluate three sugar beet cultivars (Farida, Dita and Heros) under three nitrogen fertilizer rates (100, 200 and 300 kg N/ha). As nitrogen fertilizer rate increased root yield, yield components, sucrose (%) and yield significantly increased in both seasons. Fresh root yield under 300 kg N/ha was the highest in both seasons. Farida cv. was the highest in root yield (60.62 t/ha and 97.00 t/ha) and sucrose yield (4.15 and 6.95 t/ha) in both s

The eastern king prawn, P. plebejus, has been commercially exploited for over 50 years. Pulverized coal pyrolysis based on solid heat carrier has a huge advantage in high tar yield. In this study, pyrolysis experiments on pulverized coal were conducted in a lab-scale fluidized bed reactor at 650 °C, utilizing char as the solid heat carrier. The influence of mass ratio of char to coal (RATIO) was investigated. Results show that the incorporation of solid heat carrier of char significantly enhanced the primary pyrolysis reaction in coal pyrolysis, resulting in increasing yields of tar and gas but reducing one of char. The yield of tar maximally reached 148.80–262.22% of the Gray–Ki

AbstractThe first fossil avian feather from Antarctica is reported here, from the early to middle Eocene Fossil Hill Formation at Fildes Peninsula, King George Island, Antarctica. Characteristics such as its form, asymmetry of vanes, closed-pennaceous vanes with barbules and a deep ventral groove indicate that the feather was used for flight. The site from which the feather was collected is known to yield a variety of well-preserved trace fossils, palaeobotanical and palaeoenvironmental remains, suggesting a shorebird ecotype for the owner of this feather, certainly belonging to a Neornithes.
