Abstract:
We performed a molecular phylogenetic analysis for the ground skink populations of the genus Scincella Mittleman, 1950 on Yonagunijima Island, Southern Ryukyus and representative samples of Scincella species known from other islands of the East Asian Archipelago. Partial mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I and cytochrome b sequence data were used. Additionally, we examined the nuclear genetic variation between the Yonagunijima samples and those of closely related species. The genetic distances were largely equivalent between the Yonagunijima population and the two closest species, S.

Abstract An important business of airlines is to get customer satisfaction. Due to bad weather, a mechanical reason, and the late arrival of the aircraft to the point of departure, flights delay and lead to customer dissatisfaction. A predictive model of on-time arrival flight is proposed with using flight data and weather data. The key research in this paper is to discover the correlation between flight data and weather data. The relation between pressure pattern and flight data of Peach Aviation, which is LCC (low-cost carrier) in Japan, are clarified, and it is found that the sea-level pres

AbstractSpodoptera frugiperda, an invasive pest insect that targets maize and other crops, first arrived in Japan in the summer of 2019. This species occurs year‐round in East Asian subtropical regions such as southern mainland China and the island of Taiwan, where the mean air temperature in the coldest month is above 10°C. Adults are similarly found throughout the year on the southwestern islands of Japan. Trap monitoring there showed continuous or intermittent S. frugiperda catches in the three winter seasons since 2019. However, it was difficult to distinguish between immigrants arriving f
