One of the key questions in developmental biology is how tissue growth is controlled to give rise to organs of specific sizes and shapes. Although some genes and pathways involved in the genetic and environmental control of tissue growth have been uncovered, the understanding of this process remains incomplete. In order to find new regulators of growth we carried out an in vivo RNAi screen in the Drosophila wing. I participated in the validation of candidate genes from the screen and identified the mask gene as an essential regulator of tissue growth acting in the Hippo signaling pathway. This pathway acts via the Yorkie (Yki)/Yes-associated protein (YAP) transcriptional co-activator to control tissue growth in both Drosophila and mammals. Yki/YAP translocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleus to activate target genes, a process that is negatively regulated by the Warts kinase, one of the core components of the Hippo pathway. I found that Mask is an essential positive regulator of Yki acting downstream of Warts. Mask is required for normal tissue growth, for the expression of Yki target genes and for the overgrowth phenotype caused by Yki overexpression. Mask binds to Yki and the two proteins translocate from the cytoplasm to the nucleus together in response to various stimuli. My results show that Mask acts in the nucleus to promote Yki target gene activation. Finally, Mask’s function appears to be conserved in humans, as two human homologues of Mask (hMask1 and hMask2) translocate with YAP to the cytoplasm upon cell contact inhibition, and we demonstrate that one of these homologues promotes YAP’s transactivation function.

Irrespective of the forum in which they teach, it is necessary for all educators to receive proper training before they can truly be effective teachers. This study investigated the current methods used to train the outreach educators working in the Philadelphia Zoo's Zoo on Wheels (ZOW) department. Using a combination of employee surveys and quiz, and interviews, this study examined the three areas which outreach staff need to be trained in order to be effective educators: animal handling, scientific knowledge, and the development of teaching and presentation skills. The results indicated that areas with defined training protocols had the highest levels of educator confidence and efficacy. Outreach employees indicated that knowledge acquisition is the weakest area in terms of formal training, with educators being responsible for developing their knowledge base on their own.

The work presented in this thesis provides insights into the Drosophila smooth septate junction complex Ssk-Mesh that regulates ISC proliferation and tissue homeostasis in addition to the well-known barrier function in the epithelial integrity. With CRISPR-generated tag knockin alleles of Ssk and Mesh, I characterized the intracellular expression pattern of Ssk and Mesh. Ssk and Mesh had low but detectable expression in punctate format in the cytoplasm of enteroblasts (EBs). The protein expression profile of Ssk and Mesh correlated with their ability to regulate the ISC proliferation even though the septate junctions in EBs had not fully formed. Along with further differentiation into mature enterocytes (ECs), Ssk and Mesh gradually localized to the epithelial apical domain, where they coordinated with other junction proteins, such as Tsp2A and Coracle, to form the septate junction. RNAi-conducted genetic assays and mutant clonal analyses by knockout mutant alleles of Ssk and mesh further revealed that Ssk and Mesh restricted the activity of the transcription coactivator Yki, which governs the production of the cytokine Upd3 along the EB-EC differentiation lineage in adult midgut. Loss of Ssk or Mesh activated Yki to elevate the upd3 expression and thereby to induce the robust ISC proliferation non-autonomously. Although the total number of EBs in midgut is much fewer than that of ECs, surprisingly, knockdown Ssk or mesh in EBs resulted in a comparable upd3 upregulation and ISC proliferation as knockdown their expression in ECs. Leaky midgut caused by knockdown of Ssk or mesh in ECs activated the stress-responding mechanisms to repair the damaged intestinal epithelium, and was eventually associated with death of animals. The reduction of Ssk and Mesh in EBs displayed much milder gut leakage and lower lethality further confirmed that Ssk and Mesh in the two distinct cell types had their own roles in governing ISC proliferation.

La voie suppresseur de tumeur Hippo est un mécanisme essentiel à la restriction de la taille des organes chez la drosophile. Yorkie (YKI), l'effecteur nucléaire de cette voie, est un activateur transcriptionnel qui interagit avec des facteurs de transcription, dont Scalloped (SD), et active des gènes activateurs de la prolifération et inhibiteurs de l'apoptose. SD est un facteur de transcription capable de se lier à l'ADN grâce à son domaine de type TEA. Au cours du développement larvaire de la drosophile, SD interagit avec Vestigial (VG) pour réguler la morphogénèse alaire. SD et VG sont ainsi exprimés dans la poche du disque imaginal d'aile, à l'origine de l'aile adulte, et YKI est exprimé dans tous les disques imaginaux. La poche du disque d'aile présente donc une situation unique dans laquelle SD est capable de relayer le contrôle de la prolifération induit par la voie suppresseur de tumeur HIPPO et par des cofacteurs plus spécifiques tels que VG. Le principal objectif de mon projet de thèse était d'étudier les relations existant entre l'activité transcriptionnelle du complexe SD/VG et la voie suppresseur de tumeur Hippo. Mes données mettent en évidence un nouveau rôle de la kinase HPO dans la régulation de l'activité d'un facteur de transcription indépendamment de YKI. Au cours de ma thèse, je me suis aussi intéressée aux fonctions des complexes SD/VG et SD/YKI au cours du développement. Les résultats obtenus montrent qu'au delà d'un rôle commun à ces deux complexes dans la prolifération, le complexe SD/VG est impliqué dans la différenciation des cellules du disque d'aile tandis que le dimère SD/YKI est essentiel à la survie de ces cellules<br>The Hippo tumor suppressor pathway is an essential regulator of organ size in Drosophila. Yorkie (YKI), the nuclear effector of this pathway, is a transcriptional coactivator which interacts with transcription factors, such as Scalloped (SD), and activates genes implicated in proliferation and inhibition of apoptosis. SD is a transcription factor that can bind to DNA through its TEA domain. During Drosophila larval development, SD interacts with Vestigial (VG) to regulate wing formation. SD and VG are expressed in the wing imaginal disc, that gives rise to the adult wing, and YKI is expressed in every imaginal disc. The wing imaginal disc represents an unique situation in which SD can interact with its two cofactors. My main goal during my PhD was to study the interactions between SD/VG transcriptional activity and the Hippo tumor suppressor pathway. My data highlight a new function for the HPO Kinase in the regulation of a transcription factor independently of YKI. I was also interested in studying the functions of SD/VG and SD/YKI during development. My results show that beyond a common rote in proliferation, SD/VG is crucial for wing tells differentiation whereas SD/YKI is essential for the survival of these tells

Les cellules souches adultes assurent le renouvellement des cellules différenciées, un mécanisme indispensable à la régénération des organes soumis au vieillissement et aux agressions extérieures. Des cellules souches ont été identifiées dans les tubules de Malpighi (TM) qui assurent les fonctions rénales chez la Drosophile. Ces cellules souches rénales (CSR) proviennent à l'origine de précurseurs des cellules souches intestinales (CSI) qui migrent et colonisent les TM pendant la métamorphose. Nous montrons que le facteur de transcription shavenbaby (svb) est exprimé au sein des CSR. Svb est connu pour contrôler la morphogenèse épidermique durant le développement de la Drosophile tandis que son homologue chez l'Homme, OvoL, est impliqué dans la transition épithélio-mésenchymateuse et est dérégulé dans certains cancers. Nous avons découvert que la principale fonction de svb au sein des CSR est de prévenir l'apoptose. En effet, la perte de fonction de svb, spécifiquement au sein des CSR adultes, induit leur disparition progressive et cet effet est abolit par l'expression d'inhibiteurs d'apoptose. Tout comme dans l'épiderme, nous avons pu observer que la fonction de svb est supportée par sa maturation protéolytique induite par les gènes polished-rice et ubr3. De plus, nous démontrons que Svb interagit avec Yorkie (Yki) un membre de la voie de signalisation Hippo, connue pour contrôler le nombre de CSI. Ce complexe Svb/Yki régule l'expression de l'inhibiteur apoptotique DIAP1 afin de maintenir un nombre normal de CSR. Ces travaux ont donc permis d'identifier un nouveau membre de la voie de signalisation Hippo et de découvrir un mécanisme inattendu de protection des cellules souches contre la mort cellulaire qui pourrait expliquer leur capacité de résistance à l'apoptose<br>Throughout adult life, homeostasis of fundamental functions requires cell renewal to compensate for tissue damage and cell death. The renal (Malpighian) tubules in Drosophila are responsible for excretion of metabolic waste like kidney in vertebrates. Although Malpighian tubules are thought to be very stable during development, evidence of adult cell renewal have been showed and stem cells identified. Renal and nephric stem cells (RNSC) derived from intestinal stem cell precursors that colonize Malpighian tubules during metamorphosis. We showed that the gene shavenbaby (svb) which encodes a transcription factor belonging to the OVO-Like family (OVOL) is expressed in RNSCs. In vertebrates, OvoL factors act as guardian of epithelial integrity, while in Drosophila, Svb is well identified for its role in epidermal cell shape remodeling. The transcriptional activity of Svb requires its proteolytic processing mediated by the SmORF peptides Pri encoded by the polished-rice gene. Here, we show that this processing occurs also in RNSC and that the main function of svb in these cells is to protect them from apoptosis. Svb loss of function induces a progressive disappearance of RNSC that can be rescued by blocking programmed cell death. At the molecular level, we found that Svb physically interacts with Yorkie, the downstream effector of the hippo pathway to favor the expression of the inhibitor of apoptosis DIAP1. To conclude, our work identified a new member of the hippo pathway and uncovered an additional way to protect stem cell from apoptosis that may explain their capacity to resist apoptosis

El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo como objetivo comparar cómo se ha realizado la adaptación del lenguaje gráfico del manga Hana Yori Dango al lenguaje audiovisual del drama coreano Boys Over Flowers. Esta investigación se centra mayormente en la comparación de un lenguaje a otro, es decir, identificar y comparar la manera en qué ciertos elementos del manga se adaptan al lenguaje audiovisual, y a su vez interpretar la manera cómo se representa el discurso del amor, poder y violencia en la historia.
La investigación fue de tipo analítica, comparativa e interpretativa, con un enfoque cualitativo. Tiene como unidad de análisis el manga Hana Yori Dango y el drama coreano Boys Over Flowers. La metodología empleada fue el análisis del discurso de los ejes temáticos del poder, amor y violencia de la trama de la historia del manga y el drama basado en la observación de doce escenas del drama Boys Over Flowers, considerando como criterios de selección, la similitud del discurso narrativo y la importancia de las escenas en la curva dramática del drama. También se tiene presente la similitud de la representación icónica y estética del manga dentro del drama, es decir similitud en las viñetas e imágenes.
En conclusión, la adaptación del drama se va a ver condicionado por el manga. Esto se puede apreciar a través de las acciones de los personajes, de lo que dicen entre ellos; así como también algunas equivalencias estéticas del drama a partir de la imagen que es representada en el manga. A pesar de los cambios y modificaciones que se realizaron en varias escenas, la línea dramática de la historia se mantiene. En cuanto a los temas de amor, poder y violencia. Se puede apreciar que la historia toma como tema principal el amor que tienen los protagonistas, el cual va ser puesto a prueba a través de diversas situaciones, en donde el poder y la violencia serán obstáculos de separación de los protagonistas.<br>Tesis

In this thesis I propose that the Church should incorporate a Y om HaShoah (Holocaust Memorial Day) Liturgy within its liturgical calendar in Australia. The thesis analyses the critical issues in developing a liturgy for such a service and proposes a liturgy designed for use in Australia. These critical issues include: the naming of the liturgy (the different names available and in use, each with its particular symbolic power); and the necessity for the commemoration to be incorporated within a Christian place of worship and within the Christian liturgical calendar (including why it should be held at a different time from the Jewish Yorn HaShoah, due to different agendas). It examines the reasons for the 27th of Nisan being chosen as the date for commemoration of Yorn HaShoah within the Jewish community. To place the need for the service in context, the thesis reviews the history of JewishChristian relations and briefly discusses flawed theology. It analyses the experience of Jews in Australia and the influence this has had on understanding in Australia about the Holocaust. The commemoration of Y om HaShoah in Australia is contrasted with the situation in three other countries - Canada, Great Britain and the USA. The postHolocaust thinking of several Jewish and Christian theologians is examined in some detail because post-Holocaust theology should influence the planning, writing and conducting of liturgy, especially liturgy for Yorn HaShoah. A discussion of the components of a Yorn HaShoah liturgy follows, which includes both suggestions for and the rationale behind the consideration of several key dates and seasons as a possible time for a Yorn HaShoah service. There is a reminder of some of the key differences between a Christian and a Jewish Yorn HaShoah Service, which is followed by guidelines to consider when planning an interfaith service. The thesis contains a critique of three liturgies, two from the United States, the other from Australia. These critiques are used to develop a liturgy for use in Australian communities which incorporates Australian materials and resources. The thesis concludes that a Yorn HaShoah Service could benefit the Church and the wider community, as well as foster better relations between the Christian and Jewish communities. Individuals would be open to change, and churches to transformation. Developing a liturgy for a Y om HaShoah service requires incorporating elements from many disciplines. It is only by understanding the biblical, historical, theological and liturgical perspectives on Jewish-Christian relations, as well as the broader social and historical context within Australia, that a relevant and appropriate liturgy can be developed and an appropriate date in the Australian liturgical calendar chosen.

Dissertação apresentada para obtenção do Grau em Mestre em Design de Moda, apresentadas na Universidade de Lisboa - Faculdade de Arquitetura<br>A presente proposta debruça-se sobre um estágio académico na empresa Alice + Olivia, no departamento de design técnico, que decorreu do dia 1 de Fevereiro a 27 de Junho de 2014, em Nova Iorque.
Alice + Olivia é uma marca contemporânea de roupa com um estilo sofisticado e irreverente direccionada pela designer Stacey Bendet.
Durante o estágio na Alice + Olivia foram acompanhadas várias fases de trabalho, de entre as quais se destacam os desenhos técnicos, realizados a partir das ilustrações do gabinete de design, a compilação de fichas técnicas para produção e ainda a verificação de protótipos e moldes e das suas medidas e cortes.
Este projecto surgiu não só pelo gosto de enfrentar novos desafios mas também pela necessidade que a mestranda sentiu em ganhar experiência no mercado de trabalho de design de moda. De crescer e de trabalhar num patamar acima do académico, aprender a dinâmica da moda numa empresa e num mercado específico, e ainda de fomentar oportunidades para o futuro. Pretendeu-se obter uma aprendizagem acrescida acerca desta indústria e das suas metodologias de trabalho.
Diminui-se a distância entre o trabalho académico e o profissional o estágio permitiu consolidar as competências interdisciplinares obtidas durante a formação académica. Beneficiou-se ainda de uma melhor perceção do mercado da moda, da posição da Alice + Olivia no mesmo e das estratégias que a empresa segue para alcançar os seus objectivos.
A realização de um estágio como conclusão do mestrado é uma opção extremamente promissora, que permitirá catapultar os mestrandos para o mercado de trabalho.<br>ABSTRACT: The present document focus on an academic internship at the company Alice + Olivia, working in the technical design department, from February 1st to June 27th of 2014, in New York city.
Alice + Olivia is a contemporary fashion company with a sophisticated and irreverent style, run by the designer Stacey Bendet.
During the internship at Alice + Olivia several kind of work took place, among them technical drawings, made with the information from the illustrations from the design team, the creation of tech packs for development, and also the verification of prototypes and patterns and its measures and cuts.
This project takes place not just because of the love for facing new challenges but also because of the master student’s need in gaining experience in the fashion design work market. The need to grow and to work in a higher level than the academia, to learn the dynamics of fashion in a company in a specific market, and also to promote opportunities for the future. Therefore the target of this project is to improve the knowledge about the fashion industry and its methodologies.
The distance between the academic work and the professional work was decreased and this internship was an enhancement of the academic knowledge. It was gained a better perception and insight of the fashion industry, the Alice + Olivia’s position in the market and the strategies used by the company in order to succeed.
Doing an internship as a conclusion of a master degree is a very promising option, that will allow the students to be launched into the work world.

acase@tulane.edu<br>Dictionaries play a unique role in the popular imagination of modern American English speakers; monolingual English dictionaries have the final say in language and are the gatekeepers between “good” language and “bad.” The supreme authority of dictionaries can lend authenticity and legitimacy to Native American languages undergoing revitalization. But revitalization dictionaries are more than just an authority on the language. Revitalization dictionaries can expand language use, legitimize neologisms and chronicle cultural practices associated with certain terminology. However, dictionaries do not appear from thin air, and many decisions made during compilation in regards to everything from content to format have lasting impact on the effectiveness and usability of a revitalization dictionary and on the way in which the language in general is used or valued.
This dissertation describes the process of compiling the New Tunica Dictionary. It looks at the social legacy of dictionaries in English-speaking society and discusses the ways in which the authority ascribed to dictionaries is leveraged in Tunica language revitalization. The challenges inherent in revitalizing and codifying a once-sleeping language are explored, such as how ambiguities of meaning were resolved when choosing dictionary headwords. It outlines basic Tunica grammar and the ways in which the Tunica Language Project leverages grammar rules in the creation of neologisms for inclusion in the dictionary. It describes the lexicographic underpinnings of the New Tunica Dictionary and details the technical and practical decisions the author undertook as the primary lexicographer. Sample pages of the print and app versions of the dictionary are given. Finally, as a work grounded in community-engaged scholarship, this dissertation discusses the ways in which the process of dictionary compilation encouraged learner excitement and involvement in the overall revitalization project. The dictionary produced in conjunction with this dissertation is intended to be a resource for scholars, language activists, and Tunica language learners for generations to come.<br>1<br>Patricia Anderson

Dissertação de mestrado em Genética Molecular<br>The insect’s wing is essential to key processes such as feeding and reproduction. Diversity in
Drosophila’s wing morphology is thus likely related to the different environmental conditions
experienced by different species and may be shaped by natural selection. It is thus of interest to
determine what is the molecular basis of wing morphology. It is also of interest to understand
whether the molecular basis of wing size and shape is the same in distantly related species. Species
of the virilis group have been diverging from the model species D. melanogaster for at least 40
million years and changes in wing size and shape are known to occur between D. americana and
D. novamexicana (both from the virilis group). Therefore, we performed a detailed characterization
of wing size and shape in D. americana, D. novamexicana, F1 hybrids, and in the backcross of F1
hybrids and D. novamexicana. The number of cells was identified has the main cause of those
differences. Then, a genotype – phenotype association study was performed to identify the
chromosomal regions harboring the genes that influence most the traits under study. Then we
selected candidate genes from chromosome 5 and determined their expression levels in the
parental strains. We noticed that Imaginal Disc Growth Factor 5 expression levels were highly
correlated with the wing size. We also noticed that hippo and yorkie show different levels of
expression in both parental strains, however when we extended the study to other strains of D.
americana and D. novamexicana there were no differences. Thus, IDGF5 is a good candidate to
explain the differences in wing size. Furthermore, hippo and yorkie could explain some of the
variation in number of cells at least in the parental strains selected.<br>Nos insetos as asas são essenciais para processos chave como a reprodução e a alimentação. A
diversidade na morfologia das asas em Drosophila está relacionada com as diferentes condições
ambientais a que estão sujeitas e possivelmente foram selecionadas. Por isso é interessante
perceber qual é a base molecular que regula a morfologia das asas. Vários trabalhos já foram
realizados utilizando a espécie modelo D. melagonaster, contudo é necessário realizar estudos em
espécies divergentes para perceber se os mecanismos são os mesmos. As espécies do grupo de
D. virilis estão a divergir de D. melanogaster há pelo menos 40 milhões de anos e já foram
identificadas diferenças no tamanho e forma da asa entre D. americana e D. novamexicana, duas
espécies do grupo de virilis. Assim sendo, realizamos uma caracterização detalhada do tamanho
e forma da asa de ambas as espécies, de híbridos resultantes do seu cruzamento e ainda de
indivíduos resultantes do cruzamento dos híbridos com D. novamexicana (F2). Determinamos que
a principal diferença no tamanha das asas era o número de células. Realizando um estudo de
associação entre o fenótipo e o genótipo dos indivíduos F2 identificamos que o cromossoma 5 é
o que está associado às diferenças previamente encontradas. No cromossoma 5 identificamos
vários genes candidatos e desses, três mostraram ter alguma influencia no tamanho da asa. O
Imaginal disc growth factor 5 (IDGF5) foi o que mostrou estar mais correlacionado com o tamanho
das asas. O hippo e o yorkie apenas mostram diferentes níveis de expressão entre algumas
estirpes de D. novamexicana e D. americana. Assim, o IDGF5 parece ser um bom candidato para
explicar o tamanho das asas, enquanto que o hippo e yorkie podem explicar em parte o diferente
número de células.

Co-creation has been a subject of extensive research since the early 2000s. This
new paradigm conceptualizes the customer as an integral part of the value creation process.
However, researchers struggle to define a universal definition. As a starting point for this
research, we define co-creation as “joint collaborative activities by parties involved in direct
interactions, aiming to contribute to the value that emerges for one or both parties” (Grönroos,
2012, p.1523). The purpose of this Work Project was to understand how co-creation is being
developed within the context of the telecommunication brand Yorn and what Yorn should do
to enhance co-creation. Two studies were developed based on qualitative in-depth interviews,
one with brand engaged consumers and the other with Yorn managers. The research
demonstrates that Yorn cannot be considered a co-creating brand, nevertheless, the brand is
able to develop this approach to the market. Therefore, based on insights retrieved from this
Work Project, we leave some recommendations that may assist Yorn managers in evolving
from co-creation of experience to co-creation of value.

Este estudo destaca o impacto da frescura da marca no engajamento da marca nas redes
sociais das marcas MOCHE-Yorn-WTF (operadoras de telecomunicações para jovens).
Analisando a literatura, notamos que há muitas contribuições sobre o engajamento da marca
nas redes sociais, enquanto poucas pesquisas são focadas na frescura da marca. Assim, optou-se por aprofundar a análise do impacto supramencionado, tendo o amor / satisfação com a marca
como mediadores.
No universo digital, as redes sociais oferecem aos seus utilizadores uma variedade de novas
formas de comunicarem e é exatamente esse potencial que oferece uma oportunidade
significativa para as empresas e suas marcas restabelecerem as comunicações.
Os resultados de um questionário com 399 participantes ajudam-nos a discutir a análise e a
tirar conclusões. Portanto, foi possível verificar que a frescura da marca está positivamente
relacionada com o amor / satisfação com a marca, que o engajamento da marca nas redes sociais
está positivamente relacionado com o amor / satisfação com a marca e que, consequentemente,
a frescura da marca está positivamente relacionada com o engajamento da marca nas redes
sociais. Mas é importante mencionar que nem todas as dimensões da frescura da marca têm
impacto nos restantes constructos. Resumindo, apenas as dimensões "útil", "popular",
"subcultural" e "icónica" estão positivamente relacionadas com o amor à marca. Apenas as
dimensões "útil", "original", "autêntico" e "popular" estão positivamente relacionadas à
satisfação com a marca. E apenas as dimensões "rebelde", "status elevado", "subcultural" e
"icónica" estão positivamente relacionadas com o engajamento da marca nas redes sociais.<br>This study highlights the impact of brand coolness on social media brand engagement of
brands MOCHE, Yorn and WTF (telecommunications operators for the young target).
Analyzing the literature, we note that there are many contributions on social media brand
engagement, while little research is focused on brand coolness. Thus, it was decided to deepen
the analysis of the impact mentioned above with brand love and brand satisfaction as mediators
of this impact.
On digital universe, social media offers its users a variety of new ways to communicate
with each other and it is precisely this potential that offers a significant opportunity for
companies and their brands to re-establish their communications.
Results of a survey with 399 participants help us to discuss the analysis and to get some
conclusions. Therefore, it was possible to verify that brand coolness is positively related with
brand love and brand satisfaction, that social media brand engagement is positively related with
brand love and brand satisfaction, and that consequently brand coolness is positively related
with social media brand engagement. But it is important to mention that not all dimensions of
brand coolness have an impact on other constructs. Summing up, only "useful", "popular",
"subcultural" and "iconic" dimensions are positively related with brand love. Only the
dimensions "useful", "original", "authentic" and "popular" are positively related with brand
satisfaction. And only "rebellious", "high status", "subcultural" and "iconic" dimensions are
positively related with social media brand engagement.

Dissertação de mestrado em Marketing e Estratégia<br>Caracterizada como a aplicação de mecânicas de design de jogos de vídeo em outros contextos, a
gamificação tem-se assinalado como um recurso empresarial imprescindível, permitindo motivar e criar
engagement a um público alvo, como colaboradores, estudantes ou consumidores, e influenciando o
seu comportamento para ir de encontro ao objetivo estratégico sustentado pelo sistema gamificado. No
entanto, a ausência de interpretações pessoais dos jogadores na literatura, especialmente a longo
prazo, causa o desconhecimento das motivações para interagirem com plataformas gamificadas, e que
alterações motivacionais ocorrem com interações sucessivas. Em particular, a literatura de marketing
sofre falta de conhecimento as motivações de consumidores para interagir com programas de lealdade
gamificados, que empregam recompensas como principal veículo de engagement, presumidas de
contribuírem para o progressivo desinteresse do consumidor, e eventual abandono do sistema.
Para colmatar esta lacuna, a presente investigação aplicou entrevistas abertas longitudinais, de base
semanal e no prazo de um mês, a cinco participantes e utilizadores assíduos da aplicação móvel Yorn
Shake It, a fim de descobrir as motivações, emoções, e perceções de um programa de lealdade
gamificado, e as alterações motivacionais ocorridas após um mês de interações sucessivas com a
plataforma. Foram identificadas e caracterizadas as motivações dos participantes de acordo com os
seus objetivos, e as suas perceções dos diferentes tipos da recompensa presentes no sistema. Em
adição, os resultados permitem induzir que mudanças motivacionais ocorrem independentemente da
existência de contingências externas, mediante alterações contextuais do utilizador, ou mediante
resultados percebidos pelo utilizador, em função do seu objetivo no sistema e feedback proporcionado
pelas mecânicas gamificadas.<br>Defined as the application of video game design mechanics in other contexts, gamification is rapidly
becoming an indispensable firm resource, allowing to motivate and engage a target audience, such as
company collaborators, students, or consumers, and influencing their behavior to meet the system’s
strategic goal. However, there is a lack of literature on first person users’ interpretations, especially long
term, causing a dearth of knowledge on the motivations to interact with gamified platforms, and what
motivational changes occur after successive interactions. In particular, marketing literature suffers with
a absence of knowledge regarding users’ motivations to interact with gamified loyalty programs, that
employ rewards as the primary engagement vehicle, presumed to progressively gnaw consumer
interest, leading to the abandonment of the system.
To close that gap, this investigation applied weekly open longitudinal interviews, during a month, to five
participants and active users of the mobile application Yorn Shake It, with the goal of discovering the
motivations, emotions, and perceptions of a gamified loyalty program, and the motivational changes
that occurred after one month of consecutive interactions with the platform. Participants’ motivations
were found and characterized according to their objectives, as well as their perceptions of the different
types of rewards found in the system. In addition, results allow to induce that motivational changes
occur regardless of the presence of external contingencies, but depending on contextual changes, or
perceived results by the user, according to their objective within the system and feedback received by
the gamified mechanics.

The thesis will focus on problems of the reception of dramatic opus of Bulgarian prosaist, dramatist and scenarist Yordan Radichkov (1929 - 2004) in the Czech and Slovak area from 1976 (premiere of first drama - January) until nowadays. The thesis will try to discover elements of magic realism, anecdote, comedy and satire which creatively follow fabulative elements and style of folktales in dramas of one of the most famous and world popular Bulgarian author of the 20th century. The thesis will be based mainly on the confrontation of the reception of agreement and difference in the plays staged in two comparison areas - Czech and Slovak. Part of the thesis will be detailed bibliography witch will capture production in Czech and Slovak theatres and their responses in press.
