Abstract:
Since 2014, the European Bioanalysis Forum (EBF) organizes a Young Scientist Symposium. The meeting format was created to provide development opportunities for young scientists to engage in international discussions. Creating a peer community of young scientists has been a proven recipe to lower the threshold and promote engagement in this community of young talents. At the same time, the meetings are aimed at stimulating collaboration between the EBF and academia. This manuscript summarizes the discussions at the Fifth EBF Young Scientist Symposium, held in Bologna (Italy) between 20 and 21 M

Abstract:
The article examines the current paradox of the uncertainty of the status of young scientists in the context of the proclaimed state strategic importance of this socio-professional group. Based on the institutional and resource approach, the specific features of the status of young scientists and its group-forming criteria are characterized. Based on a systematic analysis of both existing regulatory legal acts and draft laws proposing to streamline and consolidate the concept of a young scientist in the legal field, the limitations of the proposed definitions of the concept of “young scientist

Abstract:
This paper reports findings from a pilot study undertaken at the Lancashire Science Festival to explore the impact of interacting with a scientist on parents??? attitudes towards their child pursuing a career that involves science. Parents were asked a series of questions about their science festival experience and to provide some demographic information. The key finding was that half of the respondents reported that meeting a scientist had made them more likely to think that their child could pursue a career related to science. The attitudinal shift was particularly prevalent amongst parents
