Abstract:
The article analyzes tutoring as a pedagogical phenomenon, a particular type of pedagogical activity, which is aimed at supporting and accompanying a young specialist in the process of their work in the first years of their professional activity. Attention is drawn to the fact that tutoring is aimed at a comprehensive, systematic, holistic, comprehensive, and effective study of individual characteristics of young professionals in order to develop and implement an individual educational program of professional and diverse personal development. The effectiveness of organizational and methodological principles of tutoring of young professionals in the institution of general secondary education of Ukraine according to certain criteria (organizational, motivational, pedagogical-procedural, psychological-procedural, information-technological, methodical-procedural, communicative, and cognitive ones) based on analysis, systematization, and summarizing the results of a pedagogical experiment at the national level on the topic: “Tutoring technology as a means of implementing the principle of individualization in education,” which was held in 2015–2020 (orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine as of 15.07.2015 No 764 and as of 04.12.2020 No 1499). It is proved that the tutor (mentoring teacher) does not choose goals for the young specialist but only helps him to see alternative ways to achieve them; assists in the development of necessary personal traits and professional competencies. The results of the research and experimental work showed that a young specialist forms into a professional due to the joint work of a tutor with a young specialist based on the use of tutoring technology and the support of the administration and the psychologist of the educational institution. The tutor creates an educational environment that allows a young specialist to gain new knowledge and skills, helps to solve certain problems in their activities. At the same time, the tutor helps to make the most effective use of various scientific and methodological materials, the Internet, and the practical experience of other young specialists.

Abstract:
Programming specialists are more and more demanded by modern information society. The programming specialist’s professional development begins at school, when the young people choose their professions. The professional development is a lifelong process that does not end after obtaining of formal education and professional qualification. It is the self-determination process within which the important aspects are the programming specialist’s motivation, professional self-improvement, self-education, self-assessment of own professional proficiency and self-management of own career. The professional development is a multi-stage and multi-level cyclic process as a result of which the programming specialist can turn from a beginner into a highly level professional. At the same time it is nonlinear process, because the programming specialist’s professional development might have its rise and fall. The aim of studies is to substantiate theoretically the programming specialists’ professional development as lifelong self-determination and self-organization process within the context of career development, creating the methodological base for the further studies. The programming specialist’s career could be studied: 1) as a lifelong process (the career going horizontally); 2) as the development up to a high position in an IT company (a career going vertically); 3) as an independent developer’s career, when commencing business at his or her own company and/or within the framework of planned project (start up). The programming specialist’s professionalism is an integral entirety of his/her many qualities, where competency is important in several spheres, not only in programming.

Abstract:
This work is devoted to the activities of higher education institutions on employment of graduates of sports specialties. The theoretical and practical significance of the study is to identify trends in the labor market in the field of physical culture and sports and employment of graduates of sports specialties, in the analysis of socio-pedagogical features of adaptation of young professionals in unguaranteed employment. The student environment is characterized by the anticipation of adverse events for the graduate related to their employment, namely: recognition of unemployment of young professionals as a natural phenomenon; assessment of the chances of university graduates in the labor market as very insignificant; among the prospects for future employment is the idea of themselves as temporarily unemployed or those who work outside the profession.

Abstract:
This thesis is an ethnographic study of two specialist settings in England, where young children's communication and 'communication difficulties' were objects of expert intervention. It describes the intertwining of institutional discourses and practices, which both construct and sustain current, dominant understandings of good and normal communication. Instead of delineating 'communication difficulty' as a matter of disability or individual tragedy, this thesis focuses on the 'socialness' of face-to-face communication. It deconstructs the discourse of communication as a skill, right and need in disability childhood contexts, and the somewhat taken-for-granted importance of communication skills in today's everyday life. On the basis of my findings, this thesis promotes an understanding of communication as a complex, contextual phenomenon, and aspects of 'communication difficulties' as social constructions.

Brady, Lynn. "Specialist foster care for traumatised young people with challenging behaviour : appraising joined up service provision." Thesis, Brunel University, 2005. http://bura.brunel.ac.uk/handle/2438/5477.

Full text
Abstract:
It is recognised that looked after young people with a history of trauma, offending, emotional, behavioural and educational difficulties often face a high risk of social exclusion later in life. Against this background an innovative and intensive fostering service was developed by a large charitable organization. The intention was to provide community based foster care placements as an alternative to residential and secure accommodation and an external evaluation was commissioned. The thesis grew out of the main research evaluation. This small scale case study has the separate aim of exploring how far the provision of specialist foster care placements together with appropriate services can help young people to achieve stability. This question is considered through an analysis of the organisational relationships, the model for service delivery, the implementation of the key services and their impact on the service users. The methodology and research approach used questionnaires and in-depth recorded interviews. The study has been personalised by including the voices of the organisation's key stakeholders and service users. With the introduction of recent legislation that places an emphasis on inter-agency and multi-professional working, the thesis seeks to draw out lessons from the case study on the opportunities and constraints of joined-up service delivery. It also aims to inform current policy and practice which is now shifting towards the provision of specialist foster care, rather than residential care for difficult young people. The findings indicate that achieving integrated service delivery and multi-professional working is a complex task. The study has provided a broad understanding about all aspects of service delivery, together with the views of the service providers and the service users. Finally, the thesis makes recommendations for the improvement of inter-agency co-operation and front line service delivery to ensure that young people and their families receive the services they need.

Abstract:
The study explores the music development, achievement and aspirations of adolescent students who participate in pre-tertiary specialised music programs. A theoretical model is developed for the study to investigate the role and influence of such training in the development of music skills, and explores relationships amongst music experience, music engagement, academic achievement, interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships, personal learning styles, and affective response to music. The data source for the study was the Young Conservatorium program (YCP) at Griffith University. Three sub-studies formed the investigation, two focussing on music development, and one, the program. The first sub-study involved 117 enrolled students, the second, 44 teachers and 112 former students, and the third, 15 case studies. Quantitative and qualitative data were obtained using surveys, tasks, tests, interviews, discussions, reflective journals, and practice logs. A large body of literature has identified a continued need for research that traces the music development of young musicians in adolescence, research that utilises both large and small sampling (particularly case studies), and is conducted at the time of training. The present study was conducted over two years, utilised a larger population than many previous studies, involved case studies, and combined contemporaneous and retrospective approaches. Research findings contribute to knowledge regarding young musicians' music training and learning in pre-tertiary specialised music programs, and the nature of pre-tertiary specialised music programs themselves: their rationale, methods of instruction, and overall effectiveness. They highlight the types of music programs and music training provisions available to young Australian musicians, and, though showing students to frequently engage in multiple music learning environments, confirm the need for individuals demonstrating above-average music ability to access specialised music tuition and opportunities, develop in a supportive learning environment, and interact with students of similar interests and abilities. Although also suggesting there to be a number of factors associated with pre-tertiary specialised music training that can deter some students, such factors tend to be non-musical in nature. In all, the study does show a trend for the families of young, above-average musicians to choose to provide for their children access to pre-tertiary specialised training, and for participants to gain from this experience. The study seeks to enhance understanding of the conditions though which music development is nurtured; it confirms the importance of exposure and opportunity, the collective efforts of the family and community, and the need for hard work and perseverance to usually be exercised by young musicians themselves. Common trends associated with the music development of young, above-average musicians pertained to music training and influences, characteristics, goals, and achievement. Early music exposure, guidance, and positive music experiences were found to be conducive to music learning. The establishment of a practice routine, increasing engagement with music, the formation of broad music preferences, demonstration of high music aptitude, musical and academic achievement, and goal-setting all characterised the experiences and marked the qualities of students sustaining their music interests in adolescence. Interpersonal support and developing intrapersonal attributes, personal learning styles and increasing affective response to music, together with developing cognitive and metacognitive skills, were generally shown to typify the music development of young, above-average musicians in adolescence.

Abstract:
A systematic review of the literature that explored the processes and perceived effectiveness of qualitative methods used to elicit the views of young people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) about their educational experiences was conducted. Studies that were identified and screened using a trialled evaluation checklist and synthesised using the PRISMA guidelines identified data collection methods that were perceived to be useful. Limitations such as the over-representation of participants who were able to engage in verbal discussion and the lack of detailed description and evaluation of data collection methods were also identified. A multiple case study research was then conducted to explore two special schools' processes of eliciting the views of secondary school-aged pupils with ASD about their transition to adulthood and its perceived effectiveness. Qualitative data from semi-structured interviews with the school's staff and an observation of a transition meeting were gathered and thematically analysed individually, then compared and contrasted within school level. The findings revealed that both schools' processes of eliciting young people with ASD's views about transition to adulthood is a long process which involves three phases and is underpinned by a person-centred ethos. Perceived strengths and limitations of the process were also identified. Dissemination of the study's findings will include presentations and consultations with key stakeholders such as mainstream and specialist secondary schools and local authority post-16 steering group to explore the utility of the findings in different contexts. Collaboration with other educational psychologists (EPs) will also be conducted to explore this study's implications in the way they support schools in eliciting the views of young people with ASD.

Immersive technology for training and professional development of nuclear power plants personnel. CEUR Workshop Proceedings, July 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.31812/123456789/4631.

Full text
Abstract:
Training and professional development of nuclear power plant personnel are essential components of the atomic energy industry’s successful performance. The rapid growth of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies allowed to expand their scope and caused the need for various studies and experiments in terms of their application and effectiveness. Therefore, this publication studies the peculiarities of the application of VR and AR technologies for the training and professional development of personnel of nuclear power plants. The research and experiments on various aspects of VR and AR applications for specialists’ training in multiple fields have recently started. The analysis of international experience regarding the technologies application has shown that powerful companies and large companies have long used VR and AR in the industries they function. The paper analyzes the examples and trends of the application of VR technologies for nuclear power plants. It is determined that VR and AR’s economic efficiency for atomic power plants is achieved by eliminating design errors before starting the construction phase; reducing the cost and time expenditures for staff travel and staff training; increasing industrial safety, and increasing management efficiency. VR and AR technologies for nuclear power plants are successfully used in the following areas: modeling various atomic energy processes; construction of nuclear power plants; staff training and development; operation, repair, and maintenance of nuclear power plant equipment; presentation of activities and equipment. Peculiarities of application of VR and AR technologies for training of future specialists and advanced training of nuclear power plant personnel are analyzed. Staff training and professional development using VR and AR technologies take place in close to real-world conditions that are safe for participants and equipment. Applying VR and AR at nuclear power plants can increase efficiency: to work out the order of actions in the emergency mode; to optimize the temporary cost of urgent repairs; to test of dismantling/installation of elements of the equipment; to identify weaknesses in the work of individual pieces of equipment and the working complex as a whole. The trends in the application of VR and AR technologies for the popularization of professions in nuclear energy among children and youth are outlined. Due to VR and AR technologies, the issues of “nuclear energy safety” have gained new importance both for the personnel of nuclear power plants and for the training of future specialists in the energy sector. Using VR and AR to acquaint children and young people with atomic energy in a playful way, it becomes possible to inform about the peculiarities of the nuclear industry’s functioning and increase industry professions’ prestige.
