Abstract:
We investigated the implicit attitudes of Chinese youth towards the second-generation rich, and the relationship of these with their explicit attitudes. Participants were 119 undergraduate students (58 men and 61 women). Using the Semantic Differential Measure and the Feeling Thermometer Scale, we examined the participants' explicit attitudes, and we used the Implicit Association Test to assess their implicit attitudes toward the second-generation rich. Results showed that the participants did not show a negative implicit attitude towards the secondgeneration rich. However, the participants exhibited a negative explicit attitude toward the second-generation rich. These results are consistent with previous research. This suggests that the second-generation rich can take advantage of these findings and project a more positive image of themselves to other people in China.

Forty-four dropout youth with learning disabilities, behavior disorders, or mild mental retardation participated in an interview that included questions about school dropout. We categorized responses and identified key themes. Dominant themes were the need for teachers and administrators to change their attitude toward and treatment of these youth and the need for the youth themselves to change their attitude and behavior. Other themes included the need for more support from teachers, for changes in attendance and discipline policies, for better textbooks, and for a change in the way certain courses are taught.

Abstract:
Researched is the role of traditional educational institutions in regulation of deviant behavior of young people. In social reality of young people, acts of deviant behavior are endowed with new semantic content. Previously unambiguously condemned behavioral acts associated with attitude towards the teacher, the relationship in the school team and the education system as a whole in modernconditions are interpreted ambiguously in youth environment. Meanwhile, basic foundations of universally significant norms, based on life-meaning values of the core of Russian culture, continue to be reproduced in social practices of Russian youth, thanks to mechanisms of self-regulation, that are based on mentality, archetypes, and habitus. The theme itself, the attitude to objects of education, understanding the meaning of their purpose, functions that they perform in society, are closely related to those key needs, that carriers of the cultural code have long invested in these objects. That is why in the social reality of young people hybrid forms of semantic relationship to universally significant norms begin to coexist. Young people more and more often determine for themselves, that behavioral acts should be considered appropriate for themselves, and which are deviating in the field of education.

Abstract:
The article is concerned with the phenomenon of extremism among youth. Analyzing the features of modern youth extremism the authors substantiated their conditioning by social, age, historical, and cultural factors. Young people tend to protest and reject the existing system, all-or-nothing thinking. While the phenomena identified as extremism today, repeatedly arose in the process of historical social development. A distinctive feature of the majority of extremist organizations at the present time is their focus on the issues of national identity or the political structure of the Russian society and state, using the principles of a totalitarian sect. In their activities destructive religious organizations themselves are also, as a rule, based on radical ideas, which is why they are recognized as extremist. The article presents the findings of the sociological study conducted in Saratov’s higher educational institutions. Based on the analysis of the study results the authors came to the conclusion that extremist sentiments among student youth are growing towards representatives of various nationalities and religions. The authors assumed that in order to successfully counter youth extremism, first and foremost it is necessary to clearly distinguish its causes, rooted in the society itself and shortcomings of state youth policy, from the forms of its manifestation that have social and group specific features.

Abstract:
Presented is analysis of results of sociological research of reproductive attitudes of young people in modern Russian society. The article states, that they are gradually transforming from traditional to adaptive ones. Reproductive attitudes are regulated partly by common norms and values and partly by personal reproductive views. However, they are changing. In the structure of life values of modern youth, children were ranked on the 3rd place in the hierarchy of importance (after health, family). While having a child is still dominant attitude, instrumental orientation to the child is strengthened. Only 18% of young people traditionally see the joy of life in children to some extent; 47% — categorically reject traditional attitudes to childhood as a guarantee of personal and family happiness; 14% — share liberal tolerant values of individualism in their reproductive attitudes. The modern young generation is characterized by an orientation towards having few children. This is manifested in a decrease in the orientation to have two children and an increase in the orientation to have only one child, or to be childfree. From one hand, that indicates the growing value of children themselves, from other hand that shows a reduction of having children among young people. A significant degree of actual distancing of reproductive behavior attitudes from traditional values and practices in this sphere of life, their individualization and rationalization are revealed. Young people who would like to have 2 or 3 children has only one especially among younger groups when their life strategy is more orientated on study, professional self-development and achievement economical comfort life. According to youth opinion the birth of a child brings more difficulties to life than positive changes, which provokes rationalism and pragmatism of individual reproductive attitudes of the younger generation. Unwillingness to have children contributes to the growth of contraceptive culture. Although, the development of contraceptive attitudes related to the reproductive sphere is slow, that provokes the problem of abortions or “accidental” “unwanted” children. Distribution of methods of making decisions about the birth of children and their number, as well as responsibility for the onset of pregnancy have already begun to acquire the character of asymmetry, shifted towards the woman.

Abstract:
Although China has had a rich sexual culture for thousands of years, Chinese people are usually unwilling to openly discuss issues of sex. Some parents are quite ignorant of the change in their children’s sexual attitude and behaviour. In China today, adolescents are becoming much more sexually liberated. Premarital sex and unplanned pregnancies among teenagers are increasing. Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) including HIV/AIDS are also spreading rapidly. However, young people lack basic information on AIDS/STD and do not know how to protect themselves from these diseases or how to avoid unintended pregnancies. Several major youth peer education programmes in China are mentioned in this paper. Among them, a four-year programme entitled the Australian–Chinese AIDS/STD/Safer Sex Peer Education Programme for Youth, is discussed in some detail. The programme has so far reached over 40000 university and school students. Evaluation results show that the programme is effective in both significantly increasing students’ knowledge about AIDS/STDs and changing their attitude towards AIDS patients. In addition, the programme is highly praised by the students.

Abstract:
Student youth are potential future parents, which is why the problem of the conditions of partnership interaction among adolescents as participants in the process of educational reform is becoming more relevant and practical. Defining the conditions for partnerships, establishing partnerships with young people as participants in the reform process will lead to effective implementation of educational innovations. Social intelligence is an essential intellectual ability that acts as the cognitive basis of communicative competence and determines social adaptation, communication effectiveness, ability to understand and adequately evaluate other people and themselves and their actions, actions towards others, ability to predict different behaviours, intentions, feelings and emotional states of a person by verbal and non-verbal expression. In order to study the psychological features of social intelligence of the individual, attitude to reform in the field of general secondary education, we used the following psychodiagnostic methods: 1) the technique of research of social intelligence of J. Guilford (in the adaptation of A.S. Mikhailova); 2) a special variant of the semantic differential technique for studying the psychological elasticity of the individual (S.L. Kravchuk); 3) the test of the viability of S. Maddy (in an adaptation by D.O. Leontiev and O.I. Rasskazova); 4) author's research questionnaire aimed at the study of subjective attitudes towards educational innovations; 5) general self-efficacy scale (Schwartz Ralph, Matthias Jerusalem). In our empirical study, 106 adolescents participated. It has been found that young people with a strong and active attitude towards educational innovations are more likely to believe in the effectiveness of their actions; think optimistically about their achievements; create optimistic scenarios, compared to adolescents, who are characterized by an active negative attitude to educational innovation.

Abstract:
We studied the current problem of spiritual search of a person during the mid-life crisis. We considered signs of mid-life crisis and signs of intra-personal conflict aggravating it and analyzed personal qualities of respondents in the situation of life difficulties. Based on empirical data obtained from the survey of healthy respondents and persons with disabilities, we revealed the characteristics of respondents' attitude to God, themselves and society. The system of values and social attitudes of a religious person refracts life information through religious experience, correlating it with the system of moral standards and the attitude of a person to God as an ideal. Therefore, the attitude towards religion, faith and God is considered as an attitude determined by the social conditions of a person's life in society. When considering a wide system of relationships, we also investigated the self-wear of a person, determined by the laws of development and functioning of psychological phenomena and processes, including motivational, intellectual-cognitive, emotional-will and communicative-behavioral processes, we determined ways of forming a new self-attitude based on spiritual transformation . We established that the most psychologically stable, stable among all age groups were youth groups and the akme group, in which the individual reached a level of self-realization and self-commitment that was distinguished by a realistic character, a sense of achievement and building prospects. The established relationship to God in these age groups made it possible to note that the work of the soul of persons with disabilities has significant differences from the spiritual search for healthy respondents.

Abstract:
In youth rugby union matches, tackle-related injuries account for 60% of all injuries, 62% of concussion injuries and almost 50% of spinal cord injuries (youth and amateur). Because of this high risk of injury, the inclusion of the tackle in youth rugby has been a topic of discussion in the public and a high priority research area for World Rugby. What a coach knows and his/her attitude toward player safety directly impacts the risk and performance profile of a player. The purpose of this study is to describe the tackle knowledge, attitudes and training behaviours of youth rugby coaches. The entire population of Western Province Rugby Union Premier A1 division (highest level of school rugby) under-19 rugby coaches (n = 8) completed a knowledge and attitude questionnaire and 96 field-training sessions were observed over four weeks. Coaches rated tackling (mean 3.9, 95% confidence interval 3.3–4.4), rucking (mean 3.8, 95% confidence interval 3.0–4.5) and ball-carrying (mean 3.6, 95% confidence interval 2.6–4.6) as high-risk of injury facets of play ( H = 30.8, p < 0.001). Coaching proper technique was rated as very important for safety (mean 4.6, 95% confidence interval 4.2–5.0) and performance (mean 4.8, 95% confidence interval 4.4–5.0, U = 28, p > 0.05). Of the 96 observed training sessions, tackle training was recorded 16% of the time (vs. 84% no tackle training, p < 0.001). Coaches were aware of the risk of injury in the tackle and rated the coaching of proper technique of utmost importance. These positive knowledge and attitudes did not transfer into their tackle training. The discrepancy between coaches' tackle knowledge and attitudes, and their training of the tackle might be related to how competent they believe themselves to be in delivering tackle training.

Abstract:
Analysing youth aggression topic in the press, it is noted that only statistics of youth aggression cases revealed in the public space is represented. There are no records reflecting the real situation. In this instance, the mass media, which is controlling the thoughts of society, has mostly influence to public attitude formation on youth aggression question. It is often based on stereotypes and myths, in that way representing the vision of distorted reality. The aim of this paper is to ascertain how is represented youth aggression topic in the mass media, and what is its formed image of inseparable from aggression informal groups of young people such as ultras (extreme football fans) and skinheads (nationalist attitude). After having analysed the numbers of daily newspaper Lietuvos rytas (January–December of 2011), 99 articles on youth aggression topic were detected. It is noted, that there are no articles about aggression of young people living in the wealthy and rich families. So the mass media is forming a view, that youth aggression mostly occurs in asocial families, whereas in wealthy families this problem simply does not exist. With regard to the portrayal of youth aggression in Lietuvos rytas, as well as paying attention to the fact that trust in the mass media in Lithuania goes up to 70 percent, we can state that readers form themselves a distorted vision of reality. The most common youth aggression cases represented in the mass media are − younger or peer sexual abuse, as well as a large demonstration of transaggression - aggression used to achieve the objective. Most of the images published in the press are attributed to anger aggression and aggressors are depicted as asocial, intoxicating substances tend to use young people. Analysing Lietuvos rytas (2011), as well as reviewing other newspapers (Lietuvos rytas (2007, 2008), Lietuvos Aidas (2008), Merkio kraštas (2011)) in search of information on Lithuania‘s ultras and skinheads formed image, we have to state that public opinion towards ultras and skinheads is formed mostly not by personal experience (communication, confrontation with them), but by mass media which is the main source of information absorbed by members of the society.

Abstract:
About a third of the global population learns English as a second language (L2). L2 students routinely read English literature. Many L2 readers are members of cultures with painful colonial pasts. The English language functions in part to support western cultural and economic domination. L2 students have a complex identity, as members of their own culture, but also as elites having options in the global economy. This study used content analysis, content clusters and Appraisal analysis to explore how three cultural groups with colonial histories responded to an English-language translation of a Bulgarian poem about an elite, L2-educated character in a colonial situation. Results suggest that bilingual youth do not see themselves as elite, and that authentic literature in translation helps them perceive status and positionality.

Abstract:
AbstractIntroduction:In the context of national and global events of the last few years (wave of refugees in 2015, terrorist attacks, climate change, strengthening of far-right and radical parties, fake news and manipulation, etc.), the ability of making an independent opinion, making resolutions based on facts and knowledge, being able to see through the flooding information dumping, and creating the routine of selection are becoming extremely important issues. How do we think about ourselves and others, about “the Other” and “the Stranger”? More importantly, how do young people think about these social and public issues, how do they see themselves, the country and the world where they live, the present and the future that they will be shaping?Purpose:The primary goal of the study is to examine the global competences of Hungarian youngsters aged 15-29.Methods:For mapping global competences the data of Hungarian Youth Empirical Research (2016) are used. Results:The vast majority of Hungarian youngsters aged 15-29 are not interested in social, public life-related or political issues. As for the examination of the questions concerning attitudes, the choice of medium options on the scales was typical, which reflect either indifference, disinterest, insecurity or the lack of knowledge that would be necessary for expressing an opinion. Youngsters are the children of the “Technological Age”, online world is the most important scene for entertainment, communication, social life; however, they do not deal with public-life-related issues on their favourite social network sites. They also tend to keep distance from offline public-life, party- or political youth organisations. Among youngsters, the fear of strangers and migration is highly visible, a so-called “exclusionary attitude” describes them, global thinking is typical for only few of them.Discussion:The study confirms the previous research statements: Political passivism is typical for people aged 15-29 as their public and social life activism is extremely low. Their distrust towards the representatives of the democratic institutional system is also associated with a low-level interpersonal trust. However, as for their value preferences, the dominance of traditional values (family, love, friendship) is clearly conspicuous, and the role of nation and social order is gaining more importance. With regard to all these factors, the communication and free time spending habits of the young, we can state that their public life-related disinterest does not primarily stem from their smart phone and entertainment-centred attitude but it is mainly due to their disillusionment, their social discomfort and the erosion of their future beliefs. Among youngsters, a new nationalist tendency has also appeared, which means that they value their own group more and strongly devalue other, strange groups.Limitations:The Hungarian Youth Research, which analyses 8000 participants aged 15-29, can be regarded representative from the aspects of gender, age, education, settlement type and region. We can compare the research findings with all parts of the youth research series that started in 2000. Questions applied in the questionnaire are based on the previous waves (Youth 2000, Youth 2004, Youth 2008, Hungarian Youth 2012), so the database provides the possibility of outlining the trends. Conclusions:Concerning the attitudes and values of youngsters aged 15-29, close-mindedness, moderate tolerance, low personal and institutional trust, keeping distance from public life, and a high degree of disinterest are typical. The young, as well as the whole society, typically claim for national isolation, and they are not really willing to collaborate with “the stranger”, “the other”.

Abstract:
Introduction. The development and implementation of pedagogical technologies aimed at preventing socially negative phenomena (smoking, alcohol abuse, drug addiction) in higher education institutions is one of the key tasks of educational work. This is particularly important for medical higher education institutions as it allows future doctors to master the competences that form both the readiness for educational activity intended to eliminate risk factors of socially negative phenomena (SNP) and to promote commitment to a healthy lifestyle in the population, which also facilitates professional and personal self-development of the students. Materials and methods. To study the frequency and causes of tobacco smoking and to reveal the effectiveness of the smoking prevention program implemented by the members of the center of voluntary activity “Tvoy Viybor” (Russian for “Your choice”), a research was performed in Irkutsk State Medical University (ISMU). In the ascertaining stage of the research, an initial anonymous survey among 200 students was conducted in 2015. In the formative stage of the research, targeted work on the prevention of SNP was carried out among students by the members of the volunteer center. The control stage of the survey was conducted in 2017 with 492 students of ISMU. Results. The center of voluntary activity "Tvoy Viybor», which was organized in ISMU, solves the stated tasks using the opportunities of the medical university by attracting active successful students. The public work of activists based on the "equal-to-peer" principle as well as organization of various social events including psychological trainings, seminars with application of methods of problem education and illustrative-explanatory training, quests and quizzes about SNP prevention, allowed to reduce the number of smoking students in the university and form a negative attitude to other SNP among youth. Thus, in 2015, 63% of students indicated themselves as smokers, while two years later according to the repeat survey, this proportion reduced significantly to 12% among students, who were actively involved into the preventive work. More than 94% of students quit smoking in the presence of children, family members and patients. A lower number of smokers in public places was pointed out in ISMU. Conclusions. Therefore, a community of youth leaders and successful representatives of their generation dedicated to the healthy life style was formed in Irkutsk State Medical University with the support of the Ministry of Youth Policy and the Centre of Drug Prevention of Irkutsk Region. The implementation of modern pedagogical technologies and active involvement of volunteers into the preventive work allow to successfully form health saving competencies of students. The activity of the voluntary center “Your choice” facilitates the development of communication skills and leadership qualities among medical students and enables future doctors, based on the acquired experience and knowledge, to become leaders and form a negative attitude among youth towards SNP and to attract new volunteers.

Abstract:
In this article, the authors discuss the nature of peer-based prevention programs. The analyzes are conducted in the context of school bullying prevention and the associated need to build a friendly and safe school environment. Attention was paid to shaping a positive peer culture by involving young people in various types of prosocial activities. Peer leadership programs are a special kind of activity where the driving force is youth. Implementation of a peer program into school life enables the full potential of young people to be activated. Such programs mobilize young people to make positive changes in their social surroundings, to help themselves and others through constructive cooperation. Taking into account that these programs are carried out within the school environment, the condition of the effectiveness is the attitude of school toward such activities. It is important to foster positive peer relationships, to encourage students to participate and create the right conditions for change.

They almost have a close friend (dating) and have intercourse, which is interesting to explore. There are five teenagers who can maintain a healthy sexual behavior. The purpose of research is to know the description of personal factors and external factors that influence adolescents to be able to retain healthy sexual behavior in a risky environment in TWB Yogyakarta youth association. Based on in-depth interviews with five teenagers who declares themselves not dating and a group leader community of TWB, it was shown that an overview that affects teens still behave in a healthy sex despite being in a risky environment is an overview of personal where young people have the ability to hold back emotions, ideals and religiosity attitudes, while the picture of the external consists of a family function where parents do remind norms and religion as well as the ability of adolescents to maintain away from the influence of friends to behave deviate.</p>

Abstract:
Purpose of the study. The article is devoted to the analysis of value orientations, forms of civic engagement and political participation of young Russian citizens who consider themselves patriots. In accordance with the conceptual and methodological provisions developed within the framework of the political and psychological approach, the author examines how the cognitive and behavioral components of the personality structure, which determine the patriotic orientation of youth, relate to each other. Research results. Based on an analysis of the data of an all-Russian survey of young people aged 15 to 30, the author comes to the conclusion that young Russian patriots are interested in politics and identify with Russia. They demonstrate a fairly high level of social activity and have a wide repertoire of forms of civic participation and political behavior. They have attitudes towards conventional forms of political participation (primarily electoral). In the system of values of young patriots, the most significant are human rights, peace, order, legality, security, freedom and justice. Young Russian citizens who consider themselves patriots differ in their political values and behavioral orientations from «non-patriots». The author comes to the conclusion that young patriots have a connection between values and behavioral practices of their implementation, which determines their focus on interaction with the state and society. But this is not typical for young people in general. It is noted that in the future, patriotism can become a factor in the serious intragenerational demarcation of young people. Therefore, significant efforts are required from various institutions of socialization in the field of political education and patriotic education of youth.

Abstract:
This study is aimed to scrutinize the relationship between satisfaction and concern with an individual’s physical appearance and the subjective estimation of economic status, which is considered as one of main predictors of life satisfaction. Recent research has focused on the role of real economic status on different aspects of human life, including satisfaction and concern with own appearance. In contrast with such studies, our investigation is focused on a subjective-comparative approach to economic status evaluation. According to this approach, the participants have to identify themselves either with the group “rather poor than rich” or with the group “rather rich than poor”. We hypothesize that satisfaction and concern with own appearance in youth varies as a factor of subjective evaluation of economic status. The participants were 41 male and 82 female undergraduate and graduate students of different majors, aged 20–35. Of the subjects, 62% estimated their economic status as “rather poor than rich” and 38% of participants identified themselves with the group “rather rich than poor”. The paper-pencil questionnaires “Attitudes towards Own Appearance: Satisfaction and Concern” and “Subjective Evaluation of Economic Status” were administered. Results indicates that subjective evaluation of economic status has a stronger association with satisfaction with one’s own physical appearance in comparison with concern over one’s own appearance.

AbstractObjectiveThe purpose of the present study was to explore food preparation behaviours, attitudes, meal planning and shopping among Mexican-American mothers.DesignData were collected through four focus groups with mothers of Mexican origin/ancestry who considered themselves to be the primary food preparer. Topics included food preparation behaviours and influencers (culture, family, attitudes, barriers, meal planning and shopping). Data were analysed using a qualitative grounded theory approach. All focus groups were audio recorded, transcribed verbatim and coded for themes.SettingData were collected in southern California, USA in 2013.SubjectsOf the sample of twenty-one Mexican-American mothers, thirteen were born outside the USA and the mean household size was five members.ResultsParticipants reported that food was often prepared using traditional staples and food preparation behaviours were learned from maternal family members. Participants also suggested that health was influenced by foods eaten and how they were prepared. Salient factors influencing food preparation behaviours included culture and tradition, maternal family members’ food preparation behaviours, food preparation self-efficacy and attitudes towards healthy eating. Time and busy schedules were cited as barriers.ConclusionsFuture interventions should consider utilizing family-based approaches and teaching culturally relevant food preparation skills, especially to youth, while reinforcing more healthful dietary practices.

Abstract:
Despite the growing conflict between Britain and her colonies, a metropolitan education remained a popular choice for the sons of elite colonial Americans in the late colonial period. This article explores the attitudes of the youths themselves, and of their parents, towards their London education during a period when political conflict was engendering a growing sense of separateness. American youths typically underwent a status crisis upon reaching the metropolis. Their insecurities related to the usual pitfalls of genteel London life: the prospect of social isolation and vulgarity, and the opportunities for debauchery. The parents of these colonial youths, however, shared the view of elite British parents of the period that a public education was a necessary social apprenticeship for their children. They regarded personal experience of the metropolis, and familiarity with its social and political systems, as important attributes for elite colonists. Parental views on the advantages of a metropolitan education for their sons were unaffected by the imminent breach with Britain. The status crisis experienced by colonial youths in London was age-related; their visiting parents were acculturated to the metropolitan environment. The article concludes by suggesting that the polarized provincial mentality so long attributed by historians to the colonial presence in London should be replaced by a more integrationist model which reflects the real complexity of the relationship between colonial American elites and their mother country.

This study focuses on looking at how Indonesian students view themselves as Indonesians and as members of certain ethnic groups in relation to their ability to speak in the local/heritage languages. This article also covers their attitude towards their heritage languages in comparison to English, as a foreign language. The data for this study were collected through paper-based questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. It is found that participants with the ability to speak in their local language felt more confident in stating their ethnic identity. There was also a lead to confusion of their ethnic identities, for those few who can't speak any local language. These youths are proud Indonesians, with their Indonesian languages. However, as predicted by Rini (2014), among other languages in Indonesia, English will still be a more important foreign language. This study adds that English appears to be more important than any local language to these Indonesian students.

Abstract:
Drawing on Bourdieu’s concepts of bodily habitus, social capital, and physical capital, the purpose of this qualitative case study is to develop a better understanding of Saudi youth bodily dispositions that influence their experiences in physical education. The paper reports on qualitative data generated by observation as well as semi-structured interviews with 27 boys between the ages of 15 and 20. Family, neighborhood friends and peers have been found to be essential factors in shaping boys’ attitudes towards and experiences in PE. The production and conversion of physical capital to other forms of capital (e.g. social capital) is notable among students who are physically skillful, helping them to earn a more socially and academically privileged status. Students who are not skillful and come from constraining family circumstances (social/financial) are less able to distinguish themselves and may experience marginalization. This paper finds that a student’s sporting body is considered as an example of symbolic value (capital) and gives an account of how such bodies, and such values, are (re) produced.

Abstract:
Introduction. The issue of public health is still relevant, as not only is it an individual value, but also a social one: an unhealthy population cannot be a reliable support for the state. This is especially true of young people, who are a key indicator of the well-being of the society and the country as a whole. The goal of the paper is to study the opinions of students about a healthy lifestyle and its promotion through tourism, prevention of addictions and negative impacts of various factors. Materials and Methods. In the course of the research, a set of methods was applied: analytical and synthetic study of scientific and methodological literature, logical methods for analyzing concepts, questionnaire surveys, expert evaluation, etc. The study also used quota sampling. Percentage distribution and ranking were used to process the empirical data. Results. The conducted experiment has revealed that most students enjoy good health and show optimism, they have a tolerant attitude towards people consuming alcohol or drugs. The study has proved that health and well-being of young people depend on the socio-psychological microclimate in students’ groups and dormitories, as well as on the friendship and solidarity of students themselves. Discussion and Conclusion. Only promoting a fashion for a healthy lifestyle one can protect students from negative consequences during the transition from the youth to adulthood. The materials obtained can become the basis for monitoring these processes in educational organizations and set new vectors for students’ better health, for improving the teamwork of teachers and mentors.

Abstract:
In this article was researched to the philosopher neo-marxist Theodor Adorno´s attitude to the phenomenon of public opinion in the context of his philosophical educational works. It was discovered that public opinion in the reality of a post-totalitarian society was falsified through the residual existence of a totalitarian ideology. This is caused by the irrational mood of the existing supporters of such ideologies that are negatively oriented towards democratic transformations in the post-totalitarian society and they foolishly wish to return to power a totalitarian political regime. Also, these moods receive support from media owners who were educated and upbringing during the previous political power of the supporters of totalitarian ideology. The factor that is set to fight this influence on the collective consciousness of this social system is the personal spirit of such a person who possesses knowledge of the political crimes of the previous totalitarian power. The joint and conscious actions of such people, who understand of special importance for society to the idea of democracy, are aimed at socio-cultural humanistic changes. These people are able to execute themselves to anti-ideological re-education and upbringing. The main element of these changes is the renewal of the educational process, the purpose of which is to raise the «political maturity» of the representative of the younger generation. He must be educated as an active participant to democratic transformations in a post-totalitarian country, which is the result of building up a real civil society. Also, a representative of democratic youth, along with other citizens, must prevent the repetition of political crimes of the previous totalitarian power.

Abstract:
This article analyses online greetings in the Russian, Polish, Lithuanian and German languages. The author treats greetings as a speech act which helps the addresser to remind the addressee of his/her good attitude towards him/her on the basis of a particular occasion—the addressee’s birthday. The author analyses this speech act in relation to the specific communicative and mental scenarios of the culture to which the speaker belongs. The entirety of standard speech acts and the combination of intentions of the speakers form a genre. The genre of modern online greetings seems contiguous to folklore genres, because most of the texts do not have authors. Moreover, these texts move from one Internet site to another, resulting in a wide circle of “implementers”—users. The author distinguishes some typical characteristics of online greetings among the four cultures. An emphasis on the figure of the speaker and an incantatory character are typical of Russian greeting texts. Happiness, health and eternal youth are the key objects of these Russian texts. Russian greetings are related to the future. German greetings are mainly related to the birthday celebration itself. Greetings are often related to a review of life: on this occasion the addressee is encouraged to reflect on whether s/he has lived the past year appropriately. The word courage (Mut) is constantly repeated in German greetings, whereas this word is absent from the Russian greetings. The figure of the speaker is marginally expressed in Polish greetings. The sweetness of life is present in Polish greetings, whereas it is observed neither in German nor in Russian texts. May all your dreams come true is a cliché element of Polish greeting texts. Lithuanian greetings distinguish themselves by their melancholic tone. The author relates the detected specific features of online greetings to the ideas of philosophers and historians on the unique means of expressing one’s national character.

Abstract:
The article sheds light on certain peculiarities of immigration to France, which has become a multicultural country. The authors explain how the destinies of two categories of “immigrant” youth differ. The first are the “beurs”, children and grandchildren of migrants who arrived in France during the 1960s and 1970s, generally from the Maghreb. The second are the “blédards”, who migrated themselves from these countries during adolescence with their parents or in the framework of family reunification. After a short description of the successive waves of migration which have regularly reached France and a terminological clarification on the meaning of the words “foreigner” and “migrant”, the authors show how the trajectories of those who are French citizens, know the language and have attended the school system from the start differ from those of newcomers, although the two groups are often confused. The article presents analysis from the theoretical works devoted to the study of different waves of migration, in the USA and in other countries, then focuses on a presentation of the educational trajectories of the new arrivals and those of the descendants of migrants. Particular attention is paid to migrants’ adaptation to the labor market. Newcomers have less difficulty finding an internship than their classmates born in France. They are also more easily exploited, because they compensate their poor French language adopting a deferential attitude towards employers. When unemployed, they often find a job more easily than the descendants of migrants by relying on ethnic niches and networks of fellow citizens. The article underlines the role of the social environment in determining adaptation paths which can lead to acculturation and social mobility, to assimilation within a marginalized urban environment, or to economic integration into ethnic niches. The more hostile the environment and the less the migrants are adapted to the country’s economic and cultural codes, the more the ethnic community tends to rely on itself in order to protect its children from a form of assimilation seen as harmful. Finally, the authors present the different attitudes of young people from the two groups towards the host society. For the descendants of migrants, it is common to assimilate to groups of young people in low-income neighborhoods and to copy the behavioral pattern characteristic of the inhabitants of these neighborhoods with a high concentration of immigrant and minority populations. When they are victims of stigmatization because of their ethnic origin or their neighborhood of residence, these young people become very critical, sometimes adopting oppositional attitudes to the French society to which they belong. On the other hand, newcomers struggle to find their place, as they still feel in transit, are not necessarily sure to stay in the country which they see as a haven comparing to the difficult living conditions of their native country.

Abstract:
Background: The brand equity pyramid is a theory that explains how people develop a relationship with a brand. Although the theory has received some support, few studies have tested it using a product brand, and no study has experimentally tested the theory. Research Question: The study tested whether brand equity pyramid variables pertaining to a health behavior promotion product brand (the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for Children and Youth) can be experimentally manipulated. The first objective was to examine whether brand equity of the guidelines would be higher in the intervention group compared to the control group. The second objective was to explore whether parental attitudes and intentions toward support, support behaviors, and parent-perceived child behavior would be higher in the intervention group compared to the control. Method: Using an online survey platform in Canada, all participants first viewed the guidelines. Participants in the intervention group were then presented with a video targeting key brand equity variables, whereas the control group received no video. Participants were 161 Canadian parents ( M age = 38.17, SD = 7.33 years) with a child 5–12 years of age. Measurements of brand equity and behavioral variables were taken at Time 1 (immediately post-intervention) and 2 weeks later at Time 2. Results: The intervention group had greater brand awareness than the control group and also showed a more positive attitude toward ensuring their child is less sedentary. However, generally, the 1-time intervention had limited effects. Recommendations for Research or Practice: This study indicates that a single exposure to stimuli targeting brand equity constructs can enhance awareness and some proximal cognitions. Future studies should examine whether repeated exposures to brand advertisements result in change in more important, distal variables such as brand loyalty and actual behavior. Limitations: This study lacked a true baseline measurement time point, there was only one exposure to brand stimuli, and parent-perceived child behavior was measured rather than behavior reported by the children themselves.

Abstract:
The article discusses ageing and old age in three of George Sand’s texts: Indiana (1832), La Mare au diable (1846) and the first part of the novel Consuelo (1842). I use the first two parts of Pat Thane’s subdivision of age into a corporal, a cultural and a chronological component. In Sand’s fiction, the ageing female body withers, while the male body is worn. There are various reasons behind the decline. If the characters age of worries and trouble, the process can be reversed, and the persons can regain youth – at least partly – when the troubles go away. In a cultural perspective, the living conditions vary substantially between classes, specifically if the characters need to work for their living or not. Among peasants and workers, the tolerance for the age gap between spouses is narrower than in the bourgeoisie. The former risk to encounter poverty and need if the husband grows old sooner than the wife, while an elderly man of the bourgeoisie can marry a young woman in order to preserve her social status. In both classes, characters considered as old, while wise and experienced, do not longer interest anyone. Death is their future, and they ridicule themselves if they initiate long-term projects. Another stereotype, the old fool, appears as well, but in the case of Madame Carjaval, it is a role she plays to protect her niece. Many of the attitudes towards old people still exist today. The main difference vis-à-vis George Sand’s time is that, due to the development of longevity, old age arrives to people later now than in the 19th century.

Abstract:
Introduction: Global ageing is the success story of the 21st century as a result of declining fertility, mortality and improved public health interventions. With the increased elderly population, the attitude of societies about ageing changes. Positive attitudes towards the elderly people are valued, respected and experienced but most of the literature shows negative perceptions towards elderly people among the youth, especially in the form of stereotypical behaviors and ageism which can result in social exclusion, isolation and ultimately the abuse of elderly people and disempowerment of elderly people. Methods: Cross sectional research design was used to assess the attitude of youth towards the elderly people in the selected community of Lalitpur, Nepal from August 12 to September 7, 2018. Total 380 youth were interviewed by using modified Kogan’s Old People Scale and structured questions. Systematic random sampling technique was used for data collection. Results: More than half of the youth (66.1%) had positive attitude level towards the elderly. With regards to the attitude towards the care of elderly almost of all of the youth (97.9%) had positive attitude towards the care of the elderly. There was significant association between gender and attitude towards elderly (p=0.04) and occupation and attitude towards the care of the elderly (p=0.02) at 95% of significance level. Conclusion: Although more than half of the youth have positive attitude toward the elderly people still there is need to provide awareness program regarding the physical, physiological and psychological changes that occurs during the ageing period which helps in enhancing the positive attitude of the youth and thus contributing towards overall quality of life of the elderly people.

Abstract:
Like many other countries, Singapore has seen some public tension fermenting over what is sometimes perceived as the government’s generous open-door immigration policy. Some Singaporeans appear to have taken to regarding themselves as rightful “natives” by distinguishing between local and foreign accents (see Jacobs 2012; Oon 2012). With a sizeable number of foreigners hailing from China, do Singaporeans have negative attitudes toward non-local Chinese accents because of these ‘anti-foreigner’ sentiments? This paper examines the language attitudes of Chinese Singaporeans towards speakers of Mandarin from three locales: Beijing, Taiwan and Singapore. It describes an attitudinal test using the verbal guise technique, comparing the attitudes of 100 Singaporean Chinese youths toward the Beijing, Taiwanese and Singaporean accents of Mandarin along the dimensions of prestige and solidarity. This study shows that there are distinct differences in the ways in which the three accents are perceived by Singaporeans. However, contrary to expectations, the foreign accents are not discriminated against, but are in fact ranked more favourably as compared to the local accent. Ultimately, functionality and economic goals of advancement seem to override other socio-cultural aims of the nation as Singaporeans focus on the prestige that the foreign Chinese accents can bring them.

Abstract:
Purpose of the study: this study aimed to analyze the modern representation of death by studying the attitude of religious people, mainly Christians, towards death. Methodology: On the basis of the Siberian Federal University, the authors conducted research on the attitude of student youth towards death. The questionnaire in a standardized fashion was used. Likert scale judgments were analyzed. The methodological concepts of the attitude towards the death of such authors as Philippe Ariès and Gilbert Durand, as well as the Russian cosmists, served as the prerequisite for the formation of the research hypothesis. The group of the respondent demonstrated the religious beliefs and their faith in God. The answers of the group were interpreted on the subject of their attitude towards death, the ideas of death, and the types of protection against the fear of death. Main Findings: In the course of this work, the authors determined that the majority of student youth formed a negative representation of death that does not correspond with the religious ideology. Several concepts that reflect the attitude of youth towards death and their method of fighting the fear of death are described. The authors draw a conclusion on the state of the religious consciousness of student youth that is a result of unfamiliarity with religious norms or the fusion of the traditions of various religions. Applications of this study: The study would serve as an antecedent to further investigation on people’s attitude towards death. The research results can also be applied in social anthropology, social philosophy, and sociology. Novelty/Originality of this study: The study shows the important attitude of student youth towards death and can help to form the main problems of the religious consciousness of student youth.

Abstract:
EU citizens’ life expectancy has never been so long and it is still getting longer. However, their health is far not as good as it could be. Unfortunately, there happen to be a lot of cases of illnesses and of early death, which could be prevented. Health is influenced mostly by social, economic and other living and working conditions. The questions associated with them are included into ES economic and social policy. Smoking, nutrition, physical activity, alcohol, people’s attitude towards themselves and others have also a great influence on health. The main premature causes of death and disability are accidents and injuries, psychic disorders, cancer diseases, blood circulation disorders and respiratory diseases. It is obvious, that person’s physical activity usually positively affects health. Good health is a significant complex part of the life’s quality. Active physical activity at leisure time enriches person’s self-expression, reveals the content of new educative values, creates new behaviour and communication forms, develops the culture of motions. It means that it is very important to propagate the importance of physical activity, especially among the youth. On the other hand, it is also not less important to know different society group opinion on this question. Thus, the aim of the carried out research is to investigate Lithuanian comprehensive school senior class pupils’ opinions about healthy way of living. This article presents research results related with the physical activity problems. The research was conducted in January-February, 2011. 1256 Lithuanian comprehensive school 9-12 form pupils participated in this research. It has been stated, that physical activity concerns the greater part of the respondents. 64,3% of the respondents are in favour of this. One third of the respondents assert that they only partly care about physical activity. However, the research results show that boys are more concerned about physical activity than girls. Also, it has been stated, that boys pay more attention to additional physical activity than girls. Even 35,4% of boys allot more than 4 extra hours per week for physical activity while there are only 10,6% of girls who allot more than 4 hours. Senior class pupils allot the least amount of additional time to physical activity. Summarizing, we can assert that 9–10 form pupils are more active than 11–12 form pupils. More than one third (35,7%) of the respondents think that spreading of bad habits (e.g., smoking, using alcohol and so on…) have the greatest negative influence on pupils’ health. A big learning load is in the second position. The respondents think that teaching programmes are overloaded. Basically, the respondents don’t think that physical activity is a significant factor determining health’s deterioration. The most important factors determining health’s deterioration are bad habits and overloaded teaching programmes. Key words: questionning, physical activity, health, secondary school.

Abstract:
Although the number of pornography exposure is increasing, our understandings on the issues are still lacking. This study aimed to compare gender differences in the attitudes towards pornography among youth in Kelantan. A cross sectional study was conducted using a validated self-administered questionnaire (PORQUE) on 930 college students in both government and private colleges in Kelantan. The mean scores were significantly higher among females for majority of the items assessing non-permissive feelings toward pornography materials (p<0.001), perception on impact of pornography (p<0.05) and perception on factors contributed to pornography (p<0.05). The mean score for majority of the items assessing permissive and perceptions toward pornography materials were significantly higher among males(p<0.001). Females were more non-permissive towards pornography, better perceived the impact of pornography and factors contributed to pornography compared to males. These findings are important as it serve as a guide for the stakeholders to implement pornography intervention for youth in Malaysia.

Abstract:
The young generation is often overlooked in scientific discourse, although it is the youth (students) who often play a leading role in political and social change in the country. One such case is Ukraine, where it is the young people who started the largest protests in the country's thirty-year independent history. The presented article is an attempt to characterize the Ukrainian generation of «freedom» (Marzęcki, 2020) (youth people born during the period of Ukrainian independence, that are not impact of authoritarian regime socialization) from a socio-political perspective. The main research goal of this article is an endeavour to fully understand, describe and explain the attitude of the young generation (students) towards democracy (the article also includes comparisons to polish youth). This specific objective was achieved by analysing survey data. On the other hand, specific issues and problems identified at the quantitative research stage were examined based on data collected during in-depth interviews with sixteen students in Ukraine. In this sense, a second important specific goal has been achieved, i.e. diagnosis, description and explanation of behavioural patterns (political activity) dominating the social consciousness of students, which are considered justified and effective in relation to the world of politics. Author himself, conducted qualitative (IDI – 16 respondents) and quantitative research (1043 surveys) on a representative group of youth respondents in Ukraine. Quantitative research has been conducted in fourteen universities, preserving the territorial diversification. The results contained in the summary of the article, however, are not very optimistic. It is safe to say that the democratic system is in crisis, and the revolutionary cycle is still probably not completed in Ukraine.

Abstract:
The importance of agriculture to the socio-economic development of the country cannot be overemphasized. Agriculture sector is potentially the largest employment providing sector in the country. Despite this, unemployment is high among rural youth, who prefer to migrate to urban areas to take up low paying jobs. The present study was carried out mainly to find out the characteristics of rural youth and their attitude towards agriculture as a means of livelihood. The study was conducted in four villages in Udham Singh Nagar district in Uttarakhand. Data was collected from 115 youth using pretested interview schedule. It was found that maximum number of respondents (31.30 %) had education up to higher secondary level, majority were students (46.96 %) and had medium level of mass media exposure (72.17 %) and change proneness (58.30 %). The study indicates that majority (85.20 %) of the respondents had neutral attitude towards agriculture followed by 13.90 percent of the respondents who had negative attitude towards agriculture and only 0.90 % respondents had positive attitude towards agriculture. The study indicates that the findings will help extension policy makers to frame appropriate training programmes for educating youth regarding opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors.

Abstract:
Biopreservatives have received considerable attention in recent years as natural alternatives to synthetic preservatives. This seems to be a response to an increased demand for natural and organic foods. This study investigates the potential market for products enriched with biopreservatives in Italy. Data were collected from a sample of Italian consumers (N = 479) using a web-based survey. The main results indicate that 64% of respondents declared themselves to be willing to consume biopreservatives only if they replaced synthetic preservatives. Principal component analysis (PCA) was applied to reduce the number of variables. The factorial scores of the components obtained from PCA were used for a Cluster Analysis related to consumers’ perceptions about biopreservatives. Moreover, the survey highlights that the respondents had positive opinions about biopreservatives, although they showed difficulty in perceiving the exact meaning of the term. The study could provide useful implications for food manufacturers and facilitate the design of marketing strategies for foods enriched with biopreservatives.

Abstract:
Young people are leaders of change in any society; therefore, studying their attitude towards gender roles in the family is of particular interest in predicting changes in their behaviour and identifying the policy measures needed to achieve sustainable progress in gender equality. The study aimed to research the attitude of youth towards gender roles in the family to determine the influence of the levels of education, gender and other characteristics on gender preferences in relations – traditional or egalitarian. It is based on data from a sociological survey of youth in Chisinau, conducted in 2019 on a representative sample (N = 506). The theoretical basis of the study was the multiple equilibrium theory (Esping-Andersen et al., 2013). The study results showed that the perception of young people regarding the essential qualities of men and women is still under the pressure of stereotypes and corresponds to the intermediate balance model characteristic of the transition from traditional roles based on the division of labour to modern egalitarian ones. This circumstance implies an equal division of responsibilities and family roles between women and men. On the one hand, youth tend to an egalitarian type of marriage and family relationships, and on the other, they adhere to traditional views of family roles. Although there are some differences in attitudes towards gender roles within the family between natives of Chisinau and young people from other localities, they are still not so pronounced. Youth with higher education are more likely to prefer an egalitarian distribution of gender roles than youth with a lower level of education. Girls more often than boys strive for gender equality in the family. However, in some aspects, such as the responsibility of men for the family’s financial support, the importance of the material situation of a partner, they more often express traditional views.
