With the inherently high degree of complexity, heterostructures composed of two or more materials joined in unique architectures may exhibit superior synergetic properties that are difficult or impossible to acquire from their individual constituents. For semiconductor heterostructures, the relative band alignment of the constituents promotes effective charge separation to bring them desirable properties for photocatalysis applications. Among the different types of heterostructures, core@shell and yolk@shell nanocrystals have received particular interest due to their fascinating properties. Se

Abstract Laminated composite plates have been treated systematically in our recent book (Yu 1996). In one of the chapters, classical and refined modelings for large deflections of laminates are formulated on the basis of nonlinear elasticity. In a separate chapter, similar modelings for large deflections of piezoelectric plates are dealt with on the basis of both nonlinear elasticity and piezoelectricity. In this paper we carry out a combined treatment of large deflections of laminated composite plates including the piezoelectric effect, through the use of constitutive relations.

Retaining structures in R. of North Macedonia until recently were only designed according to the concept of global safety factors, with the conventional methods of limit equilibrium. This method was widely used in ex-YU countries until Eurocodes have been published аs regulations in the country formal legislation, where there are prescribed different design approaches, with specific partial coefficients for actions, materials, and/or resistances. Abstract:
The project sought to understand factors and mechanisms involved in the hardening of potato tubers. This syndrome inhibits heat softening due to intercellular adhesion (ICA) strengthening, compromising the marketing of industrially processed potatoes, particularly fresh peeled-cut or frozen tubers. However, ICA strengthening occurs under conditions which are inconsistent with the current ideas that relate it to Ca-pectate following pectin methyl esterase (PME) activity or to formation of rhamnogalacturonan (RG)-II-borate. First, it was necessary to induce strengthening of the middle lamellar c
