In this thesis, the systematic usage of sexual violence towards women as a weapon during the Yugoslavian Civil War is analyzed. The study attempts to underline the role of gender identities of women during the Civil War as a means for the victimization of women through sexual violence, especially mass rapes. This thesis is an attempt to capture ethnic grievances in relations with regime type and secession. The unit of analysis is Yugoslavia on a regional level; Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia and Vojvodina. Conditions within these units are traced by applying thorough case-studies and fs/QCA. When Yugoslavia was expelled from the Cominform in 1948, the Western Powers (Britain, the USA, France) were taking action to counter a perceived Soviet threat. This included the policy of liberating Eastern Europe from Communist domination. This thesis will determine the factors that have affected the economy in the countries from ex-Yugoslavia. A couple of regression analyses will test the correlation between GDP Growth or GDP per Capita and twelve independent variables. The analyses tell us that high import ratio, low inflation and not being in an intrastate war are associated with high GDP Growth, where high political rights, being a member of the European Union or having a status as a Candidate Country are associated with high GDP per Capita. ABSTRACT Punk moved from a marginal subculture to an underground counter-culture -- hardcore punk -- which shared musical culture and sense of a communal identity. Local punk scenes grew, in part due to attention from mass media. New kids in the scene brought new tensions and attracted the attention of authorities.
