Abstract:
In this study, an interval linear fractional bi-level programming (ILFBP) model was developed for managing irrigation-water resources under uncertainty. The ILFBP can fully address system fairness, uncertainties, and the leader–follower relationship of decision makers in the optimization process, which can better reflect the complexity of real decision-making process and help formulate reasonable water policies. An interactive fuzzy coordination algorithm based on satisfaction degree was introduced to solve the ILFBP model. In order to evaluate the applicability of optimization schemes, the in

Abstract:
The cosmogenic radionuclide 10Be is produced by cosmic-ray spallation in Earth's atmosphere. Its production rate is regulated by the geomagnetic field intensity, so that its accumulation rate in aeolian sediments can, in principle, be used to derive high-resolution records of geomagnetic field changes. However, 10Be atmospheric fallout rate also varies locally depending on rainfall rate. The accumulation rate of 10Be in sediments is further complicated by overprinting of the geomagnetic and precipitation signals by 10Be attached to remobilized dust, which fell from the atmosphere at some time

Full text
Abstract:
As the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) collapsed, two outstanding novels were authored, Supplement to the Journey to the West (Hsi-yu Pu) and Prayer Mat of Flesh (Jou P'u T'uan). Although modern critics have studied these two works, important aspects of each novel have been overlooked. Therefore, this study explores three elements of Jou P'u T'uan: the novel as a picaresque novel, the hero's character consistency, and the book's morality. Also examined are the Ch'an Buddhist aspects present in Hsi-yu Pu. Information on the authors, editions, and controversies of these novels has also been presented.

Abstract:
Armando Córdova of Stockholm University found (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2008, 47, 8468) that the enantiomerically-enriched diastereomers from aminosulfenylation of 1 were readily separable by silica gel chromatography. Benjamin List of the Max-Planck-Institut, Mülheim developed (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2008, 47, 8112) what appears to be a general protocol for the enantioselective epoxidation of enones such as 4. Paolo Melchiorre of the Università di Bologna devised (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2008, 47 , 8703) a related protocol for the enantioselective aziridination of enones. Xue-Long Hue of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry and Yun-Dong Wu of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology optimized (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2008, 130 , 14362) a Cu catalyst for enantioselective Mannich homologation of imines such as 6. Guofu Zhong of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore established (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2008, 47, 10187; Organic Lett. 2008 , 10 , 4585) that enantioselective α-aminoxylation of an ω-alkenyl aldehyde such as 9 could lead to defined arrays of stereogenic centers. George A. O’Doherty of West Virginia University devised (Organic Lett. 2008, 10, 3149) a protocol for the enantioselective hydration of 12 to 13 . René Peters, now at the University of Stuttgart, designed (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2008, 47, 5461) an Al catalyst for the enantioselective combination of an acyl bromide 15 with an aldehyde 14 to deliver the β–lactone 16. Hajime Ito and Masaya Sawamura of Hokkaido University established (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2008, 130, 15774) that the allenyl borane from 17 added to aldehydes such as 18 with high ee. Keiji Maruoka of Kyoto University developed (Tetrahedron Lett. 2008, 49, 5369) an organocatalyst for the Mannich homologation of an aldehyde such as 20 to 21. R. Karl Dieter of Clemson University showed (Organic Lett. 2008, 10, 2087) that 23, readily prepared in high ee, could be displaced sequentially with two different Grignard reagents, to give 24. Jeffrey W. Bode, now at the University of Pennsylvania, found (Organic Lett. 2008, 10, 3817) that bisulfite adducts such as 25 served well for the addition of unstable chloroaldehydes to 26 to give 27.

Abstract:
Stephen G. DiMagno of the University of Nebraska developed (Chem. Eur. J. 2015, 21, 6394) a protocol for the clean monoiodination of 1 to 2. The bromomethylation (or chloromethylation, with HCl) of a benzene derivative is straightforward with formaldehyde and HBr. Naofumi Tsukada of Shizuoka University designed (Organometallics 2015, 34, 1191) a Cu catalyst that mediated the coupling of an alkyne with the benzyl bromide so produced, effecting net propargylation of 3 with 4 to give 5. Triazenes such as 7, versatile intermediates for organic synthesis, are usually prepared by diazotization of the corresponding aniline. Kay Severin of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne established (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2015, 54, 302) an alternative route from the aryl Grignard reagent 6. Ping Lu and Yanguang Wang of Zhejiang University showed (Chem. Commun. 2015, 51, 2840) that dimethylformamide could serve as the carbon source for the conversion of 8 to the nitrile 9. Junha Jeon of the University of Texas at Arlington effected (J. Org. Chem. 2015, 80, 4661; Chem. Commun. 2015, 51, 3778) the reductive ortho silylation of 10 to give 11. Vladimir Gevorgyan of the University of Illinois at Chicago found (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2015, 54, 2255) that the phenol derivative 12 could be ortho carboxylated, leading to 13. Lutz Ackermann of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, starting (Chem. Eur. J. 2015, 21, 8812) with the designed amide 14, effected ortho metalation followed by coupling, to give the methylated product 15. Tetsuya Satoh and Masahiro Miura of Osaka University used (Org. Lett. 2015, 17, 704) the dithiane of 16 to direct ortho metalation. Coupling with acrylate followed by reductive desulfurization led to the ester 17. Jin-Quan Yu of Scripps/La Jolla designed (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2015, 54, 888) the phenylacetamide 18 to direct selective meta metalation, leading to the unsaturated aldehyde 19. In an extension of the Catellani protocol, Guangbin Dong of the University of Texas prepared (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2015, 137, 5887) the biphenyl 21 by net meta metalation of the benzylamine 20. Several methods for the de novo assembly of benzene derivatives have recently been put forward. Rajeev S. Menon of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology condensed (Org. Lett. 2015, 17, 1449) the unsaturated aldehyde 22 with the sulfonyl ester 23 to give 24.
