Abstract:

Zanna robusticephalica sp. nov. (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha: Fulgoridae: Zanninae: Zannini), representing the third species of the planthopper genus Zanna Kirkaldy, 1902 from China, is described and illustrated from Yunnan in southwestern China. Scanning electron micrographs of the antennal sensilla, rostral apex, hind tarsal segments, gonoplac and wax glands of the new species are provided. The generic diagnostic characters of Zanna are redefined and the autapomorphies are proposed to support the monophyly of the genus. A check-list of the Oriental Zanna species is included.

Abstract:

En este trabajo se desarrolla un análisis espacial de la Zanja propuesta por el ministro de Guerra Adolfo Alsina, a partir de la comparación de las imágenes satelitales, la cartografía histórica y otras fuentes documentales con el proyecto original y los restos arqueológicos visibles actualmente. El plan estatal buscaba ocupar 56000 km2 del territorio en poder de los indígenas y lograr la reducción de la línea defensiva, la economía de fortines, la extensión de la red telegráfica y la desmoralización de los indígenas al perder sus aguadas principales. En el lapso 1876-1877 se construyó una zanja de 374 km, se instalaron fortines a distancia regular y se fundaron poblados estables (Carhué, Guaminí, Puan y Trenque Lauquen). Mediante la presente investigación se evalúan las trazas materiales generadas por este proyecto y sus características en el área de estudio, considerando como unidades operativas la zanja y paredón junto con los fortines asociados.

Nel Settecento, Venezia continuò a ricoprire un posto di assoluto rilievo anche nella tradizione del libro illustrato. Con le vignette delle edizioni Pasquali e Zatta, Pietro Antonio Novelli fu uno dei primi acuti interpreti del teatro di Carlo Goldoni. Soprattutto con le illustrazioni della Zatta il pittore ci ha tramandato immagini legate all’evento teatrale. Nel contributo si prendono in esame quelle relative alla Trilogia della villeggiatura, cui guardò anche Giorgio Strehler per le regie del capolavoro goldoniano.

Abstract:

AbstractEarly Cretaceous glauconite from the Xiala section, southwestern Tibet, China, was investigated by petrographic microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). The investigations revealed that the glauconite in both sandstones and limestone is highly evolved. The glauconite in sandstone is autochthonous, but in limestone it may be derived from the underlying glauconitic sandstone. Based on analyses of the depositional environments and comparisons of glauconite-bearing strata in Zanda with sequences in adjacent areas, we conclude that the glauconitization at Zanda was probably associated with rising sea levels during the Late Albian, which represent the final separation of the Indian continent from the Australian-Antarctic continent. After the separation of the Indian continent from the Australian-Antarctic continent, cooling of the Indian continent resulted in subsidence and northward subduction of the Indian plate. A gradually rising sea level in Zanda, located along the northern margin of the Indian continent, was the cause of the low sedimentation rate. Continued transgression resulted in the occurrence of the highly evolved glauconite in this area.

Abstract:

The present work shows a facile route for the preparation of graphene layers and for the first time Zante currants extract used for the effective deoxygenation of graphene oxide has been reported. Zante currants (ZC) extract reduce effectively GO into few layered structures of graphene (FLG). The morphology of few layers graphene and graphene oxide (GO) were investigated by SEM and TEM. Reduction effect on graphene oxide confirm by other technique like Raman, FTIR, XRD and UV spectrophotometry. This procedure keep away the use of hazardous chemicals, thus providing a new hope for large scale production of chemically reduced graphene.

Abstract:

Analisis opini atau yang sering disebut juga dengan istilah sentimen analysis merupakan analisis yang bertujuan untuk melihat opini masyarakat atau kelompok mengenai entitas tertentu. Sentimen analysis sendiri sering digunakan untuk menilai sebuah produk, apakah memberikan review yang baik dan disukai masyarakat ataupun sebaliknya. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengklasifikasikan opini atau sentimen masyarakat terhadap produk hijab. Hijab sekarang menjadi trend dikalangan remaja muslim, dimana sebagian besar remaja muslim merupakan para pengguna media sosial terutama facebook. Sehingga pandangan para pengguna hijab ini akan tertuang dalam sebuah persepsi, baik itu positif maupun negatif. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini mengambil opini-opini masyarakat terhadap produk hijab melalui facebook dengan dua fanspage dari dua produk hijab yaitu zoya dan el-zatta. Metode penghitungan dan pengklasifikaian yang dipakai adalah metode naive bayes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sentiment positif terbentuk paling banyak yaitu 925 komentar pada EL-zatta, dan 882 komentar pada Zoya. Jika dibandingkan dengan sentimen negatif yang hanya 71 komentar pada El-zatta dan 125 komentar pada Zoya. Jadi secara keseluruhan, persepsi masyarakat mengenai dua produk hijab ini yang tertuang pada komentar di fanspage facebook memberikan penilaian yang positif.

Abstract:

Son escasos los trabajos sobre el origen y conservación de estructuras defensivas del siglo XIX en la región Pampeana. En este trabajo se comparan dos estructuras de cavado de la ciudad de Bahía Blanca (Buenos Aires, Argentina): la “Zanja de Rosas” (1833-1834) y la “Zanja de Cerri” (1876). Se realiza un abordaje usando herramientas de la Geoarqueología y la Arqueología Histórica. Se analiza el contexto histórico, los procesos postdepositacionales y su estado actual. Las metodologías desarrolladas permitieron reconocer su origen antrópico y diferenciar los distintos componentes. Los resultados obtenidos reflejan que la construcción estuvo condicionada por las características del sustrato. Por último, se discute su funcionalidad material y simbólica y la lógica subyacente en su construcción.

Abstract:

In December 1977 an independent candidate named Mehdi Zana was elected mayor of Diyarbakır, one of the biggest cities in Turkey's southeastern region. His election was a striking event, upsetting the troika of class, party, and state that had maintained a tight hold over the local political apparatus in Diyarbakır since the 1940s. Unlike most prior mayors of Diyarbakır, Zana did not come from a prominent family of local notables but was a working-class tailor with a middle-school education. He was one of only two independent candidates who won electoral contests in Turkey's sixty-seven big-city races; his election therefore flew in the face of a national trend that favored candidates from the country's two main political parties. Zana was well known for his left-wing, Kurdist politics, and at the time of his election he already had spent several years in jail for his activism. In a system that suppressed collective expressions of Kurdish identity, he was thus a clear ideological interloper.

Abstract:

We reply to various arguments by Otavio Bueno and Edward Zalta (‘Object Theory and Modal Meinongianism’) against Modal Meinongianism, including that it presupposes, but cannot maintain, a unique denotation for names of fictional characters, and that it is not generalizable to higher-order objects. We individuate the crucial difference between Modal Meinongianism and Object Theory in the former’s resorting to an apparatus of worlds, possible and impossible, for the representational purposes for which the latter resorts to a distinction between two kinds of predication, exemplification and encoding. We show that encoding has fewer forerunners in the history of philosophy than Bueno and Zalta want, and that there’s a reason why the notion has been found baffling by some.

Στη μελέτη του με τίτλο «Οι πηγές της έμπνευσης του Κάλβου», ο Κ.θ. Δημαράς επέμεινε ιδιαίτερα στη «συγκίνηση» που ενέπνευσε την Ωδή «Ο Φιλόπατρις », συγκίνηση που «υπήρξε αρκετά ισχυρή για να επιζήσει στην επίπονη αισθητική επεξεργασία». Όμοια, ο Οδυσσέας Ελύτης, στο γνωστό δοκίμιο που τιτλοφορείται «Η αληθινή φυσιογνωμία και η λυρική τόλμη του Ανδρέα Κάλβου», υποστήριξε πως στην Ωδή αυτή «το αίσθημα διατηρεί ακόμα την ένταση μιας ευνόητης φλόγας». Αντίθετα, από τη συστηματική φιλολογική μελέτη του Filippo Maria Pontani «L'Ode a Zante di Kalvos» συνάγεται πως στην περιγραφή της Ζακύνθου δεν υπάρχει ίσως ούτε ίχνος προσωπικού βιώματος. Φαίνεται, δηλαδή, πως η εικόνα του νησιού έχει κατασκευαστεί σε υψηλότατο ποσοστό από υλικά που προέρχονται από την ποίηση του Foscolo και αποτελεί έτσι ένα τυπικό ποιητικό παλίμψηστο. Τα προσωπικά βιώματα του Κάλβου στο σημείο αυτό είτε ήταν ανίσχυρα είτε, πράγμα πιθανότερο, δεν επιδίωξαν να διασπάσουν τη συμπαγή επιφάνεια που είχε διαμορφώσει η αισθητική τού νεοκλασικισμού και η ιδεολογία της αναπαραγωγής του προτύπου. Στην αυθεντία του Ομήρου, του Ησιύδου, του Θεόκριτου και του Βιργιλίου και όχι στις προσωπικές του αναμνήσεις κατέφυγε ο Foscolo για να κατασκευάσει την εικόνα της Ζακύνθου και με τη σειρά του, ο ιταλοθρεμμένος Κάλβος κατέφυγε, κατά κύριο λόγο, στην αυθεντία του Foscolo. Το παρόν άρθρο εξετάζει, εντελώς ενδεικτικά, δύο στοιχεία που συνδέονται με το παλίμψηστο της καλβικής Ζακύνθου. Abstract:

The emergence of multidrug-resistant bacteria has prompted the development of alternative therapies, including the use of natural products with antibacterial properties. The antibacterial properties of Zantaz honey produced in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus was evaluated and analyzed using chemometric tools. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and Minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) against S. aureus were the lowest (112.5 ± 54.5 mg/mL), revealing that this species was most sensitive to Zantaz honey. P. aeruginosa showed an intermediate sensitivity (MIC= 118.75 ± 51.9 mg/mL), while E. coli was the most resistant to treatment (MIC = 175 ± 61.2 mg/mL). Content of monosaccharides, certain minerals, and phenolic compounds correlated with antibacterial activity (p < 0.05). Principal component analysis of physicochemical characteristics and antibacterial activity indicated that the parameters most associated with antibacterial activity were color, acidity, and content of melanoidins, fructose, epicatechin, methyl syringate, 4-coumaric acid, and 3-coumaric acid.

Abstract:

Altered sialylation patterns play a role in chronic autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Recent studies have shown the pro-inflammatory activities of immunoglobulins (Igs) with desialylated sugar moieties. The role of neuraminidases (NEUs), enzymes which are responsible for the cleavage of terminal sialic acids (SA) from sialoglycoconjugates, is not fully understood in RA. We investigated the impact of zanamivir, an inhibitor of the influenza virus neuraminidase, and mammalian NEU2/3 on clinical outcomes in experimental arthritides studies. The severity of arthritis was monitored and IgG titers were measured by ELISA. (2,6)-linked SA was determined on IgG by ELISA and on cell surfaces by flow cytometry. Zanamivir at a dose of 100 mg/kg (zana-100) significantly ameliorated collagen-induced arthritis (CIA), whereas zana-100 was ineffective in serum transfer-induced arthritis. Systemic zana-100 treatment reduced the number of splenic CD138+/TACI+ plasma cells and CD19+ B cells, which was associated with lower IgG levels and an increased sialylation status of IgG compared to controls. Our data reveal the contribution of NEU2/3 in CIA. Zanamivir down-modulated the T and B cell-dependent humoral immune response and induced an anti-inflammatory milieu by inhibiting sialic acid degradation. We suggest that neuraminidases might represent a promising therapeutic target for RA and possibly also for other antibody-mediated autoimmune diseases.

Abstract:

Background The present study aimed to examine the reliability of the radiographic classification systems for acromioclavicular (AC) joint injuries. Methods We initially polled 47 orthopaedic surgeons regarding what common technique they used for applying the Rockwood and the Tossy and Allman classification systems. All used a single standard AC joint view (Zanca view). We then presented 24 Zanca view radiographs of patients who had sustained AC joint injuries to 19 specialist shoulder surgeons and asked each of them to classify the injuries using the Rockwood and the Tossy and Allman classification systems. We then altered the order of radiographs and repeated the survey with the same group of surgeons 1 month later. Results The mean inter-observer agreement and the corresponding weighted kappa for the Rockwood and the Tossy and Allman classification system were 64.6% and 0.258; and 68.1% and 0.309, respectively. The mean intra-observer agreement and the corresponding weighted kappa for the systems were 59.4% and 0.150; and 67.4% and 0.113, respectively. Conclusions We conclude that the classification of AC joint injuries using a radiograph alone has limited reliability and consistency in clinical practice.
