Abstract:
We define the cover of an RG-module V to consist of an RG lattice Ṽ and a homomorphism π : Ṽ→ V such that π induces an isomorphism on Ext*RG(M, —) for any RG-lattice M. Here G is a finite group and, for simplicity in this introduction, R is a complete discrete valuation ring of characteristic zero with prime element p and perfect valuation class field. Let pn(G) be the highest power of p that divides |G| and, given an RG-lattice M, let pn(M) be the smallest power of p such that pn(M) idM : M→M factors through a projective lattice: n(M)≦n(G).

Abstract:
For a finite group G, by the endomorphism ring of a module M over a commutative ring R, we define a structure for M to make it an RG-module so that we study the relations between the properties of R-modules and RG-modules. Mainly, we prove that RadRM is an RG-submodule of M if M is an RG- module; also RadRM ? RadRGM where RadAM is the intersection of the maximal A-submodule of module M over a ring A. We also verify that M is an injective (projective) R-module if and only if M is an injective (projective) RG-module.

Abstract:
This work aims to establish a relationship between the photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and the global radiation (Rg) for Santa Rita do Passa Quatro (SP), during the period from February 2005 to February 2006 and evaluate its impact on gross primary production (GPP). Data of Rg (Wm-2) and PAR (μmols s-1m-2) were obtained from the mirometeorological tower located in Gleba Cerrado Giant Foot. Data analysis allowed the establishment of a linear equation to express the relationship between PAR (MJ m-2) and Rg (MJ m-2) as: PAR = 0.3787 Rg or PAR = 1.742 Rg, for PAR (μmols s-1m-2) and Rg (MJ m-2). This relationship is indicated for the GPP determination when there is no PAR measurements.

This study reports from an empirical study planned and executed about adopting agile methodologies in public organizations. This study involved a literature review and interviews with four software development teams from two public organizations - large and medium-sized - located in Brazil. Through this method, it was found that agile methodologies could be adopted in public organizations. First, the analysis suggests that a good alternative is to start the adoption of agile methodologies with people willing to change - strongly supported by senior management - working on important pilot-projects. Subsequently, the change will depend on their interaction with other teams, in order to reach the vast majority of the organization; then these people work for the establishment of a learning ecosystem and continuous improvement to not accommodate - consciously or unconsciously - with the first winnings and later with the comfort zone. Second, we found that the benefits of agile methodologies in public organizations are more about people's satisfaction with the result of the work done and how it was achieved. Third, we also found some barriers difficult to overcome in public organizations, including the ingrained use of plan-drive methods, habit of ?Big Design Up-Front? (BDUF) and lack of knowledge and experience in agile methodologies. Fourth, we see that agile methodologies is not perceived as a finished process that ends when a particular victory is achieved; on the contrary, it is something that takes place continuously and depends a set of people factors and the environment where it is inserted to achieve new and better results continuously. Finally, we note that the adoption of agile methodologies in public organizations is a way without return, where its practitioners also need to share their experiences and help each other. The main contribution of this research is the development of a set of recommendations for adopting agile methodologies in public organizations, and the systematization of the empirical evidence about this topic.

Aristotle's definition of tragedy indicates a metaphysical project insinuated by a notion of k?tharsis. The reconstruction of Aristotle's method of definition is inspired in the concepts of en?rgeia and d?namis taken from Physics, understanding cause as substance. The Doctrine of the Four Causes is the theoretical basis of the definition of tragedy, placing tragedy in the genre of imitation and distinguishing its species: language (material cause), noble and complete action (formal cause), actors (efficient cause) and k?tharsis (temporarily identified with the final cause). Nevertheless, there is no final cause in the definition of tragedy. The k?tharsis of passions is experienced by the spectator when he witnesses tragedy, which is the imitation of a noble action, executed by actors and not narrated. Aristotle justifies hid proposition in favor of mimesis by assuming that imitation is natural to man since infancy and the view of objects allows whoever contemplates them to identify and learn the originals. As a metaphysical principle, k?tharsis is projected to beyond definition of tragedy, where it is manifested cathartically, in the spectator. Research about the spectator brings one back to the definition of tragedy, where the imitation is an imperfect copy which evokes in the spectator the presence of the originals of the imitated sentiments, thus realizing the k?tharsis of these emotions. In this way k?tharsis reveals itself as selfknowledge and approach of divine truth and perfections.

The term body without organs is present in a poem by the french writer, actor and director Antonin Artaud, written in 1947 and titled: To Have Done with the Judgement of God. I aim, in this work, from what we call investigative scenic writing, to problematize this term and its possible relations with the theater and also with some aspects of the Hindu myths. I unite the idea of the body without organs with the body in trance present in the stories of an Indian master named Caitanya Mahaprabhu. These ideas, along with the development of practices that come from some principles of Theatre Anthropology, are incentives for a creation process that highlights the work of preparation and creation of corporeal work of the actor. The relationship between the concepts and the practice raise discussions about where I stand as an actor-researcher in process

Title: Robust Monitoring Procedures for Dependent Data Author: Ondřej Chochola Department: Department of Probability and Mathematical Statistics Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Marie Hušková, DrSc. Supervisor's e-mail address: huskova@karlin.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: In the thesis we focus on sequential monitoring procedures. We extend some known results towards more robust methods. The robustness of the procedures with respect to outliers and heavy-tailed observations is introduced via use of M-estimation instead of classical least squares estimation. Another extension is towards dependent and multivariate data. It is assumed that the observations are weakly dependent, more specifically they fulfil strong mixing condition. For several models, the appropriate test statistics are proposed and their asymptotic properties are studied both under the null hypothesis of no change as well as under the alternatives, in order to derive proper critical values and show consistency of the tests. We also introduce retrospective change-point procedures, that allow one to verify in a robust way the stability of the historical data, which is needed for the sequential monitoring. Finite sample properties of the tests need to be also examined. This is done in a simulation study and by application on some real data in the capital asset...

Abstract:
Anticoagulants usually have no antiplatelet effect and platelet function inhibitors do not interact with the coagulation factors. Since thrombin has a decisive role in thrombus formation (growth and stabilization), inhibitors of the effect of thrombin on platelets may be of special importance in developing a novel type of anticoagulant with antiplatelet properties.D-Phe-Pro-Arg-H /I/ designed and synthetized in our Institute was found to be a highly specific, reversible non-competitive inhibitorgOf thrombin,a specific platelet agonist. (K.= 1x10-8 M). /I/ was administered parenterally and orally to white New Zealand rabbits and to beagle dogs. The kinetics of action was recorded by measuring the WBCT, APTT, PT, TT,platelet count (PC) and platelet aggregation (PA). Optimum degree of anticoagulation was considered by the values proposed by Verstraete and Verwilghen. /I/ was shown to be a highly specific inhibitor of PA induced by thrombin. No direct interaction between the inhibitor and the platelet membrane could be detected. Aggregability of human platelets in citrated PRP and that of the gel-filtrated platelets induced by ADP or collagen did not change after incubation with /I/. The antiplatelet effect of /I/ was studied by ex vivo experiments where the inhibitor was the anticoagulant ( 30 ug/ml whole blood ) instead of citrate. Comparing the aggregability caused by several inducers in citrated human PRP with that of in /I/-PRP a significant difference was observed when epinephrine was the PA-inducer. /I/ acts via formation of an enzyme-inhibitor complex that inhibits the binding of thrombin on their receptor-sites at the platelet membrane. In vivo experiments showed a close correlation between TT and PA induced by thrombin. /I/ proved completely harmless to platelets and red blood cells. No significant change in PC could be detected.

Abstract:
Integrity of reactor pressure vessels (RPV) are of the most importance for safety of the whole NPP. From all potential regimes, Pressurized Thermal Shock (PTS) regimes during emergency cooling conditions are the most severe and most important. Several nuclear codes are based in similar approaches but their procedures differ and are based on national knowledge and approach to fracture mechanics as well as non-destructive methods of reactor pressure vessel testing. The paper will compare requirements and procedures for PTS evaluation in accordance with RCC-M code in France [2], KTA in Germany [3], Russian original code PNAEG from 1989 [5] and new procedure from 2004 for WWER vessels [4], as well as VERLIFE procedure and IAEA-NULIFE VERLIFE [6] procedure for WWER RPVs and finally ASME Code requirements [1] including US NRC RG approach. Detailed comparison of individual parameters in calculations are compared — material properties, degradation of materials, calculated defects size and form, fracture mechanics approach, warm pre-stressing possibility etc.

In ASME 2009 Heat Transfer Summer Conference collocated with the InterPACK09 and 3rd Energy Sustainability Conferences. ASMEDC, 2009. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/ht2009-88289.

Abstract:
A method to stabilize the draft through natural cooling towers is introduced. Natural draught dry cooling towers are widely used in arid regions of the world for the power industry especially those employing nuclear reactors. Their presence has become iconic of the process industry for their dominance of the landscape. These towers control the overall efficiency of power plants, and with the ongoing energy crisis it is desirable to raise efficiency by stabilising the draught through the tower. Energy comsumption is a substantial part of the overall cost of plant operation, and therefore even with a conservative 5 per cent improvement is feasible. It has been noted by some researchers like Baer, Ernst and Wurz (1980) that cooling towers do experience unstable flow with breezes. This phenomenon can be explained by Jo¨rg and Scorer (1967) to occur even in a still ambience with cold air inflow down into the tower shell from exit. Jo¨rg and Scorer (1967) developed a correlation to predict cold inflow to a glass tube for various fluids in a laboratory. By using their formula, it is found that under typical exit bulk velocities, of 3–5 m/s or below, cold air is liable to ‘sink’ into the shell, even in a quiescent surrounding. Indeed this phenomenon was demonstrated in the laboratory using a duct of size 457 × 457 mm2 of a heat exchanger by employing a smoke generator to detect that cold air did flow into the duct rather than the hot air filling the entire cross sectional area of the duct exit. A device was applied by Chu (1986) to prevent this cold air from sinking into the duct and enhance the stability and quantity of the updraft. In this paper, for the first time data obtained from a 700 × 700 mm2 cross-sectional flow area model air-cooled heat exchanger are presented that proves the air flow rate enhancement due to this device. It is hoped that more tests can be conducted to optimize the design for application in boiler chimneys and natural draught dry cooling towers.
