Abstract:
Water quality of the Zayandehrud River, located in an arid region of central part of Iran, was assessed using National Sanitation Foundation Water Quality Index (NSF WQI) calculated by four aggregation methods. Water samples were collected monthly (July 2006 to June 2007) from eight stations in the middle of the river. The parameters required for the NSF WQI calculations including saturation percent of dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, fecal coliforms, pH, nitrate, total phosphate, temperature deviation, total dissolved solids and turbidity were measured. According to WQIm which app

AbstractZayandehrud Dam Lake located in Isfahan province is the largest lake in central Iran. In this study, the plankton communities including phytoplankton and zooplankton were studied as bioindicator organisms for assessment of water quality in the Zayandehrud Dam Lake. The water and phytoplankton organisms were collected from four stations at different seasons during 2014 by using a Nansen bottle sampler. The zooplankton samples were collected with a plankton net (mesh size = 50 µm). The phytoplankton community was composed of Bacillariophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Euglenophyceae, Dinophyceae an

Undoubtedly, the flood is known as a natural disaster. But in practice, the flood is considered the most terrible natural disaster in terms of mortality and financial losses. In this regard, a worrying trend is the increasing trend of mortality and flood damage in the world in recent decades. The increase in population and assets in the floodplain the changes in hydro systems and the destructive effects of human activities have been a major cause of this trend. In this chapter, due to the importance of this natural phenomenon in the ZayandehRud basin, the general study of flood and its effecti

Iran is located in arid and semi-arid of the world and it has shortage of freshwater resources. So, to review the status of water use and protection of water resources against pollution, especially in the global water crisis is necessary and vital. Zayandehrud River as the largest river of the central plateau of Iran and the most important surface water flow in Isfahan province, which preserving its quality is important because of agriculture-environmental, industry and drinking. Abstract:
Engineering is one of the social practices for which a normative practice approach in analyzing tensions in the practice can be fruitful, particularly when combined with an actor-network analysis. That is illustrated in this chapter by the Zayandehrud river case of water management in Iran. The modernist hydrocracy that was installed appeared to backfire strongly and resulted in serious environmental damage. The normative practice analysis shows how conflicting norms between different sub-practices can explain the problems that emerged. The analysis also suggests an alternative for this modern
