Abstract:

Abstract. The discharge of untreated waste water in Zefta drain and drain no. 5 is becoming a problem for many farmers in the El-Mahla El-Kobra area, Egypt. The discharged water contains high levels of contaminants considered hazardous to the ecosystem. Some plants, soil, water, and sediment samples were collected from the El-Mahla El-Kobra area to evaluate the contamination by heavy metals. The results showed that the heavy metals, pH, sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), and chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the water of Zefta drain and drain no. 5 exceeded permissible limits for irrigation. In rice and maize shoots grown in soils irrigated by contaminated water from Zefta drain and drain no. 5, the bioaccumulation factors for Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu, and Mn were higher than 1.0. The heavy metals content of irrigated soils from Zefta drain and drain no. 5 exceeded the upper limit of background heavy metals. In this study, the mean contaminant factor values of the drain no. 5 sediments revealed that Zn, Mn, Cu, Cd, Pb, and Ni > 6, indicating very high contamination. The bioaccumulation coefficient values of Cynodon dactylon, Phragmites australis, and Typha domingensis aquatic plants growing in Zefta drain are high. These species can be considered as hyperaccumulators for the decontamination of contaminated water.

Abstract:

To study the growth and development of sweet fennel (‘ZEFA-Fino’ and ‘ZEFA-Tardo’) seedlings were raised under greenhouse conditions (night temperature 16—18°C) and planted out at 3—4 true leaf stage on May 21st, June 10th, July 7th and July 27th. The effects of covering mulch and short day treatment of seedlings were studied also. First harvests were performed when field measurements showed that the greatest width of ‘ZEFA-Fino’ bulbs were on average 60 mm. Three harvests were then performed at one week intervals. Plant and bulb weights, bulb greatest width and thickness and, the heights of plant, bulb and stem inside the bulb was measured. The number of bolters were recorded. The bulb width of ‘ZEFA-Fino’ reached 60 mm in 1.5—2 months after planting out depending on planting date. Plant and bulb weights, bulb width and thickness, stem height inside the bulb and the bulb height in the earliest plantings increased as the growth period lengthened. The bulb width of ‘ZEFA-Fino’ was in higher correlation with bulb weight than bulb thickness or height. The ratio between the height of stem inside the bulb and bulb height increased fastest in the lot planted under cover in May and in the lot planted out in June; at the fourth harvest the relationship was 0.8. The largest number of bolters (8 %) was found in the latter lot. The yield estimate for ‘ZEFA-Fino’ at the third and fourth harvest was 170—360 kg/are depending on planting date and length of the growing season. All lots of ‘ZEFA-Tardo’ except that planted in July bolted quickly after the bulb width had grown to 60—70 mm. The yield quality of ‘ZEFA-Tardo’ was low because of elongated bulbs and great variation in bulb height. Short day treatment (dark period 16 h) of the seedlings retarded but did not inhibit bolting of ‘ZEFA-Tardo’.

Abstract:

Two studies were performed in Mount Vernon, WA, to identify bulb fennel (Foeniculum ×vulgare) cultivars and seeding practices best suited for the region. The first study evaluated 13 cultivars (Bronze, Finale, Florence, Genesi, Idillio, Orazio, Orion, Perfection, Preludio, Solaris, Tauro, Tenace, and Zefa Fino) over the course of 2 years; during the second year, the additional main factor of the seeding date was included. The second study evaluated three bulb fennel cultivars (Finale, Tauro, and Zefa Fino), four seeding dates (17 May, 31 May, 14 June, and 28 June 2018), and two planting methods (direct and transplant). Results of the two studies demonstrated that ‘Finale’, ‘Orazio’, ‘Preludio’, ‘Solaris’, and ‘Tenace’ had the greatest bulb production rate and yield and good bulb quality that met marketability standards. ‘Genesi’, ‘Orion’, and ‘Perfection’ had good bulb production during only 1 of the 2 years, whereas ‘Bronze’, ‘Florence’, ‘Idillio’, and ‘Zefa Fino’ had very low bulb productivity both years due to bolting. ‘Perfection’ and ‘Tauro’ exhibited internal cracking both years (incidence rates of 9.5% and 12.8%, respectively). The first harvest was 94 to 112 days after seeding during the first study. Direct seeded bulb fennel required 32 fewer days to harvest than transplanted bulb fennel during the second study. The average bulb circumference was 28.1 cm, with little variation between studies. Bulb tenderness for both studies was 617 g-force, on average, and the soluble solids concentration of bulbs in both studies was 4.9%. Ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry based on 38 tentatively identified compounds demonstrated no difference in the phenolic content of bulb fennel due to the cultivar. In conclusion, bulb fennel cultivars well-suited for production in northwest Washington were identified and direct seeding was demonstrated to be a better planting method than transplanting.

Seventeen species of the family Gryllidae were reviewed and a Modicogryllus sindhensis is described herein as new. Four species, namely Acheta hispanicus Rambur, 1838, Gryllus septentrionalis F. Walker, 1869, Callogryllus saeedi Saeed, 2000, and Miogryllus itaquiensis Orsini & Zefa, 2017 are recorded as new country and state records. Differences between similar species and a taxonomic key to the species of Sindh are provided.

Qui non zelat, non amat. One who does not burn, does not love - as Saint Augustine states. Jealousy is a troublesome emotion dominating mankind for time beyond all memory.However, it seems to be unclear, what constitutes normal jealousy and where the boundaries of pathological jealousy should be drawn. From the phenomenological point of view, psychiatrists' attention has always been focused on delusional jealousy, as a psychotic symptom. Obsessional jealousy, where the thought has the quality of obsessional ideation, is the topic of much fewer publications. The first clearly defined cases of obsessional jealousy were published by Mooney in 1965. In 1979, Cobb defined jealous ruminations as obsessive thoughts with the resultant compulsive rituals of checking on spouse. In 2007, Agarwal conducted a Medline search and retrieved no more than 20 relevant publications on this topic.In this presentation the authors discuss the cases of 3 young (21–27-year-old) women. In all cases, pathological jealousy with clearly obsessive characteristics was the leading or only psychiatric symptom. Two women were successfully treated with low doses of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (sertralin and fluvoxamine, respectively), while in one case, because of adverse SSRI effects, reversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase A was administered. Obsessive jealousy, in contrast to delusive one, often affects young people, causing severe difficulties in gender socialisation, lowering the chances of finding an appropriate conjugal partner, hereby markedly worsening the quality of life. Proper differential diagnosis is, however, essential for choosing an adequate and successful treatment option.

Abstract:

The first species for the genus Adelosgryllus Mesa & Zefa, 2004 recorded in caves is herein described. We used the morphology of the phallic complex as the main criteria to differentiate this species from the congeneric ones. In addition, we discussed the natural history of the new species, some aspects of its association to the cave habitats, and the intraspecific variation of the right tegmen observed in two populations of this new species.

Abstract:

Abstract A field experiment on fennel growing (Foeniculum vulgare var. azoricum Mill.) was conducted at the Experimental Farm of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, on a grey-brown podzolic soil. The experiment included the following factors: three kinds of covers - soil covering with black polyethylene film (PE 0.05 mm), soil covering with black polypropylene non-woven fabric (PP 50 g m-2) and flat covering of plants with white polypropylene non-woven fabric (PP 17 g m-2); three sowing terms - April, May, June; two fennel cultivars - ‘Rudy F1’ and ‘Zefa Fino’. Soil mulching with PP50 and, to a slightly lesser degree, black PE, caused an increase in the total and marketable yield of fennel bulbs and had a favourable effect on the yield structure. The lowest yield, with the highest share of non-marketable bulbs, was obtained following plant covering with PP17. The bulbs were the largest in the experimental treatments with PP50 mulching. The smallest bulbs were harvested following PP17 plant covering. For fennel growing, the most favourable sowing time was April. The lowest yield was obtained from the June sowings. The cultivars studied did not vary in terms of yield level and structure. The bulbs of the ‘Zefa Fino’ cultivar were longer and more slender than those of the ‘Rudy F1’ cultivar

Abstract:

In this study, four new Brazilian species are described for the genus Adelosgryllus Mesa & Zefa, 2004, occurring in Minas Gerais, Tocantins and Pará states. Three of these species were found in caves and one was found in endogenous habitats, representing the first record of species form this genus for such habitats. The morphology of the phallic complex was used as the main criterion for distinguishing the new species, the copulatory papilla was also described for one of the new species. Finally, we bring a brief discussion about the ecology, distribution, and conservation of these species.

In two-year trials taking place at the Faculty of Horticulture in Lednice (Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno), three cultivars of sweet fennel (<I>Foeniculum vulgare</I> Mill. ssp.<I>vulgare</I> var.<I> azoricum</I> [Mill.] Thell) – Precoce di Bologna, Rudy F1 and Zefa Fino have been evaluated. The trials were conducted in two terms in each of the trial years (summer and autumn term). In the harvest time, nutritional value was evaluated: content of vitamin C, minerals (K, Na, Ca, Mg), dietary fibre, dry matter and nitrates. Besides, the weights of pseudobulbs and its yield have been evaluated. The content of the monitored substances ranged in the following intervals: vitamin C 87–347 mg/kg, K 4,241–5,851 mg/kg, Na 77–512 mg/kg, Ca 56–363 mg/kg, Mg 82–389 mg/kg, dietary fibre 5.75–7.59 g/kg, dry matter 61–75.8 g/kg, nitrates 650 to 3,767 mg/kg, weight of pseudobulb 199–383 g. A significant influence of cultivar on K content has been observed; furthermore, growing term markedly influenced the content of vitamin C, K, Na, Ca, Mg, dietary fibre, nitrates and on weight of pseudobulb. A significant influence of year on the content of vitamin C, Ca, Mg, dietary fibre, dry matter, nitrates and weight of pseudobulb has been recorded as well. From the three tested cultivars, Zefa Fino showed significantly higher average yield (331 kg/100 m<sup>2</sup>) in summer terms and Rudy F1 (267 kg/100 m<sup>2</sup>) in autumn terms.

Abstract:

We describe the mating behavior of Adelosgryllus rubricephalus Mesa & Zefa, 2004. In trials carried out in laboratory we verified the following mating sequence: (1) sexual recognition by antennation; (2) courtship with male turning his abdomen towards the female, performing mediolateral antennae vibration, jerking its body antero-posteriorly and stridulating intermittently, while receptive female drums on the male's abdomen tip, cerci and hind-tibia with her palpi or foretarsi; the male then stops and stays motionless for some seconds, extrudes the spermatophore and both restart the behavioral sequence described above; (3) copulation: male underneath female; with his tegmina inclined forward, and joins his genitalia to the female's to promote sperm transference ; the female steps off the male, occurring a brief end-to-end position; (4) postcopulation: without guarding behavior; male retains the spermatophore and eats it. We quantified elapsed time of each behavioral sequence and discussed its implications in the observed mating behavior.

Abstract:

O objetivo deste artigo é investigar como a lírica de Ricardo Aleixo, importante poeta contemporâneo, dialoga criticamente com a de Jorge de Lima, nome de destaque no Segundo Modernismo, quanto ao desenvolvimento de temas ligados à história e à cultura da população negra brasileira. O nexo comparativo a ser examinado será o tratamento imagético dado pelos dois escritores a personagens negros. A hipótese considerada é a de que, na abordagem de temas ligados à diáspora africana, a poética de Ricardo Aleixo, exemplificada por “Rainha onça” (de Antiboi, 2017) atua, conscientemente ou não, como um palimpsesto crítico em relação à de Jorge de Lima, ilustrada por “Zefa lavadeira” (de Poemas negros, 1947), o que pode ser verificado pelo modo como, em Aleixo, o sujeito poético lança na direção dos corpos negros um olhar diametralmente oposto, em termos de caracterização de seu alvo, àquele que se pode identificar na escritura de Lima. Para elucidar esse ponto, contribuirão estudos de Gilberto Freyre, Alfredo Bosi, Vagner Camilo (sobre Jorge de Lima); Guilherme Trielli Ribeiro e Afonso Celso Carvalho Rodrigues (sobre Ricardo Aleixo); para a análise da relação entre os poemas citados acima, a principal contribuição será o conceito de palimpsesto proposto por Gérard Genette.

Abstract:

In this paper we describe two new sympatric species of phalangopsid crickets Adelosgryllus from the Araripe-Apodi National Forest, State of Ceará, Brazil, highlighting morphological characters, mainly from male genitalia, tegmina and copulatory papilla. We also present a geographical map for the valid species of the genus, as well as photographs of holotypes and paratypes. The type-material is deposited in the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (MZUSP).

Background:Low immunoglobulin (Ig) levels can occur after rituximab treatment, but the clinical significance is not completely understood. Not all patients (pts) who develop low Ig levels after rituximab are at an increased risk of serious infection (SI), but factors such as pre-existing low Ig levels, prior biologic therapies, history of SI and other disease and age-related factors may increase the risk.Objectives:To assess the risk of SI in pediatric pts with prolonged low IgG or IgM serum concentrations following rituximab treatment for GPA or MPA in a global clinical trial.Methods:In the Phase 2a PePRS study (WA25615), pts aged ≥ 2 to ≤ 18 yrs with GPA or MPA received 4 weekly intravenous rituximab infusions of 375 mg/m2body surface area and concomitant oral glucocorticoid taper. After 6 months, pts could receive further rituximab and/or other immunosuppressants at the investigator’s discretion during a minimum 12-month follow-up phase. Pts with IgG/IgM levels below age-specific reference ranges at baseline were excluded. Ig levels were measured every 4-12 wks. SI occurrence was assessed during/after low IgG or IgM. Prolonged low Ig was defined as IgG or IgM levels < lower limit of normal (LLN) reference range for age for a ≥ 4-month period.Results:All 25 pts completed 4 weekly rituximab infusions and the 6-month Remission Induction Phase; 24/25 pts completed ≥ 18 months of follow-up. 17 pts received additional rituximab treatment on or after Month 6. 11 pts received concomitant immunosuppressants (cyclophosphamide, azathioprine, mycophenolate mofetil) during the study. All pts had a decrease in IgG and IgM mostly after the first rituximab infusion. There was no consistent trend in IgG or IgM levels over time and no clear relationship between low IgG or IgM levels and the number of follow-up rituximab treatments. 18 pts (72%) had prolonged low IgG ≥ 4 months, of whom 5 had IgG levels < LLN at screening and/or baseline; in 7 pts, IgG levels returned to within normal range by study end. During or after prolonged low IgG, 6/18 pts experienced a total of 7 SIs. Three pts received treatment with intravenous Ig. 19 pts (76%) had prolonged low IgM, of whom 5 had IgM levels < LLN at screening and/or baseline. During or after prolonged low IgM levels, 6/19 pts experienced a total of 8 SIs. There were no deaths or study discontinuation due to SI. All pts with prolonged low IgG or IgM had past and/or concomitant treatment with steroids and/or immunosuppressants as potential contributory factors. Analysis of SI onset in relation to timing of low Ig was limited due to protocol-defined time points for Ig assessments.Conclusion:In pediatric pts with GPA/MPA treated with rituximab, there was no consistent pattern in IgG or IgM levels over time. The majority of pts with prolonged low IgG or IgM did not experience any SIs; no increase in the number of SIs was observed over time or with multiple rituximab treatments. While no firm conclusions can be made on a possible relationship between prolonged low IgG or IgM and risk of SI following rituximab due to study limitations (low pt numbers, lack of placebo comparator), these observations are consistent with the known rituximab safety profile in adult pts with GPA/MPA.Disclosure of Interests:Simone Melega Shareholder of: F. Çünkü zekat hem farz olması açısından dini bir gerekliliği yerine getirmek hem de toplumdaki gelir adaleti ve refahın tüm toplumda olabildiğince yaygın hale gelmesine vesile olması açısından önemli fonksiyonlar yerine getirmektedir. Makalemizde başta bankalarda bulunan vadesiz ve vadeli hesapları; borçlanma araçlarından tahvil ve bonoları; finansman temin araçlarından murabaha ve leasingi en temel özelliklerini belirttikten sonra zekatının hangi şartlarda gerekli olduğu ve hangi oranda verilmesi gerektiği incelenmiştir. Ayrıca sermaye piyasası enstrümanlarından hisse senedi ve Türkiye’de “kira sertifikası” diye bilinen “sukuk” işlemlerindeki zekat hükümleri de farklı görüşler de dikkate alınmak suretiyle incelenmiştir.

RESUMO: O presente trabalho toma como base teórica os postulados da Análise de Discurso de Orientação Francesa, a fim de discursivizar as histórias cotidianas que circulam nos discursos de velhos. Busca, especificamente, analisar as estratégias discursivas utilizadas pelos velhos na reconstituição de suas histórias de vida, para entender a interrelação que se estabelece entre discurso, história cotidiana e memória. A partir das lembranças de velhos, pelo viés metodológico da história oral, a pesquisa possibilitou a reconstituição de momentos significativos da história de São José da Lagoa Tapada-PB/BR. Realçou-se, assim, que as lembranças de velhos possibilitam a representação e construção da diversidade cultural e as identidades do povo que se efetivam pelos discursos, a exemplo da história de Dona Zefa Café, uma das colaboradoras da pesquisa. Constatou-se, portanto, neste trabalho, o diálogo que se fia entre discurso, práticas culturais, história cotidiana e memória. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Discurso. História. Memória.ABSTRACT: The present work takes as its theoretical basis the postulates of the Discourse Analysis of French Orientation, in order to discursivizar the everyday stories that circulate in the discourses of old people. Abstract Background Invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) for management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) associated respiratory failure is increasing in Intensive Care Units. The bridging process from IMV to extubation is called weaning in which mechanical ventilation is gradually withdrawn and the patient resumes spontaneous breathing. Many objective parameters have been defined for weaning success. The following review focuses on the different weaning methods in patients chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with respiratory failure. Objective To compare among the different methods of weaning in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients with respiratory failure weaned with different method ie BIPAP, CPAP and T-Piece. Patients and Methods Cross sectional descriptive study. 60 patients diagnosed as COPD with respiratory failure on MV, will be recruited from ICU Department Zefta general hospital. This study included 60 patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with age more than18 years old admitted in adult ICU Department in Zefta general hospital that are on mechanical ventilation. These patients fulfilled the inclusion criteria of the study. Patients were classified randomly into 3 groups. Results In this study I try to overcome these challenges by studying the effect of using of NIPPV both CPAP or BIPAP immediately after extubation or using T piece for 1 hour followed by extubation and using oxygen therapy that BIPAP improves patient gas exchange, hemodynamics and associated with shortest ICU stay which reflects on utilization of resources. Conclusion We suggest that BIPAP improves patient gas exchange specially in hypercapnic patients, hemodynamics and associated with shortest duration of ICU stay and decrease rate of reintuabtion.

<p>Analisaremos a peça teatral <em>Zefa entre os homens</em> mostrando como a trama estrutura-se a partir das ideias de crime e castigo, sendo religiosa a razão da queda do poder dos coronéis. Na sequência, sobre os romances <em>Bangüê</em> e <em>Usina</em>, argumentaremos a favor da seguinte tese: a decadência dos proprietários de engenho e usina possui um motivo também religioso (castigo de Deus), e não apenas motivos econômicos (queda nos preços do açúcar, concorrência entre proprietários) ou psicológico (inaptidão para administração dos negócios agrários). Ao lado da tese da causação religiosa da decadência dos senhores do açúcar, comentaremos estes outros pontos comuns a essas três obras e a outras da nossa literatura: a existência de fantasmas e retratos nos antigos casarões e os elementos míticos-bíblicos urdidores do enredo.</p>

Günahın, imanı ve diğer salih amelleri boşa çıkarmayacağı hususunda birleşen Ehl-i sünnet âlimleri, irtidadından sonra yeniden İslâm’a dönen kişinin ilk Müslümanlık devresinde işlemiş olduğu amellerin durumu hakkında görüş ayrılığına düşmüşlerdir. Genel anlamda Hanefî/Mâtürîdîler doğrudan irtidad ile o amellerin boşa çıkacağını savunurken, Şâfiî/Eşꜥarîler ise bunun için ayrıca riddet üzere ölümü şart koşmuşlar, tek başına irtidad ile kişinin önceki amellerinin zayi olmayacağını ileri sürmüşlerdir. Kelâm, fıkıh ve usûl gibi ilimlerle ilişkisi bulunan bu meselede, kapsamlı yorumlar daha çok tefsirlerde kendisine yer bulmuştur. Burada ilk mezhep, sadece irtidad üzerinden amellerin boşa gideceğinden bahseden Mâide suresi 5/5. ayetini; diğer mezhepse bu boşa gitmeyi riddet üzere ölüm haline bağlayan Bakara suresi 2/217. ayetini esas almıştır. Taraflar, birbirlerine karşı ilgili ayetler üzerinden farklı istidlallerde bulunmuş, muhtelif cevaplar vermişlerdir. Bunların içerisinde en esaslı ihtilaf noktasını ise usul tabiriyle mutlak olan ilk ayetin mukayyed konumda bulunan ikinci ayete haml edilip edilmeyeceği meselesi teşkil etmiştir. İlk mezhep ilgili ayetler özelinde mutlakın mukayyede hamil şartlarının oluşmadığı düşüncesiyle bu işleme karşı çıkarken, bu konuda daha esnek tavır alan ikinci mezhep ise oluşan şartlar çerçevesinde bu hamil işlemine onay vermiş, buna bağlı olarak da ilgili görüşlerine ulaşmışlardır. Taraflar, ilgili ayetleri değerlendirirken, açıklamalarını, daha çok tertip itibariyle önce gelen ve mukayyed konumda bulunan Bakara suresi 2/217. ayetinin izahında getirmişlerdir. Şâfiî/Eşꜥarî ilim ehli zaten ilgili ayeti temel aldıkları için onların konuyu inceledikleri yerin bu ilahi kelamın tefsiri olması gayet anlaşılabilir bir husustur. Hanefî/Mâtürîdî zevat ise, daha çok Şâfiî/Eşꜥarîlerin ayete yükledikleri manaya cevap vermek amacıyla konuyu burada işlemişlerdir. Şâfiî/Eşꜥarîler, mutlakı mukayyede haml etmelerinin bir gereği olarak konuyla ilgili iki ayetten, Bakara suresi 2/217. ilahi kelamını esas alarak hükümlerini bunun üzerine bina etmişler ve aslında tek ayeti kıstas kabul etmişlerdir. Buna karşılık Hanefî/Mâtürîdîler ise, ilgili iki ayet özelinde mutlakın mukayyede hamil şartlarının gerçekleşmediği iddiasıyla onların her ikisinden ayrı ayrı hüküm çıkarmışlardır. Bu çerçevede ilk ayetten, irtidad üzere ölümün, ebedi hüsranı gerektirmesi, ikinci ayetten ise irtidadın mutlak şekilde amelleri zayi etmesi sonucuna ulaşmışlardır. Burada iki mezhep arasındaki ayrılığın en tipik semeresi, kişinin Müslüman iken yerine getirdiği hac ibadetini, irtidad sonrası İslâm’a döndüğünde yeniden yapıp yapmayacağı konusunda ortaya çıkmaktadır. Amellerin ancak irtidad üzere ölümle zayi olacağını düşünen Şâfiî/Eşꜥarîler yeniden hacca gitmeyi gerekli görmezken, ölüm gerçekleşmese de irtidad ile amellerin doğrudan zayi olacağını düşünen Hanefî/Mâtürîdîler ise ilgili kişiyi hac ile sorumlu tutmaktadır. İşte bu çalışmada tarafların savundukları temel fikri hangi esaslar üzerine oturttukları, muhaliflerine ne tür eleştiriler getirdikleri ve muhaliflerinin istidlallerine ne gibi cevaplar verdikleri sorularına karşılık bulunmasına gayret edilecektir.
