Abstract:
Zeichnung wird häufig als ein Medium verstanden mithilfe dessen man seine Idee direkt auf das Papier bringen kann. Diese vermeintliche Unmittelbarkeit von Zeichnung hat historisch zu der Vorstellung geführt, Zeichnung sei besonders eng mit dem Denken verknüpft bzw. bilde eine direkte Projektion der Ideen des Künstlers. Diese Charakteristika der Zeichnung, sowohl ihre mimetische Funktion als auch die unmittelbare Sichtbarmachung von gedanklichen Prozessen sollen im Folgenden in ihrer Beziehung zu Performance Art betrachtet werden. Näher betrachtet werden dazu die Arbeiten „[Swi:t] Home: One Year of my Life“ von Elena del Rivero und „Va Heng Noodle Family“ von Morgan O’Hara. Wie gezeigt werden wird, verdeutlichen beide Arbeiten auf unterschiedliche Weise zeitliche Vorgänge und machen sie auf ihre spezifische Art und Weise für den Betrachter erst sichtbar. http://www.perfomap.de

Gescannte und vektorisierte technische Zeichnungen werden automatisch unter Nutzung eines Netzes von Modellen in eine hochwertige Datenstruktur migriert. Die Modelle beschreiben die Inhalte der Zeichnungen hierarchisch und deklarativ. Modelle für einzelne Bestandteile der Zeichnungen können paarweise unabhängig entwickelt werden. Dadurch werden auch sehr komplexe Zeichnungsklassen wie Elektroleitungsnetze oder Gebäudepläne zugänglich. Die Modelle verwendet der neue, sogenannte Y-Algorithmus: Hypothesen über die Deutung lokaler Zeichnungsinhalte werden hierarchisch generiert. Treten bei der Nutzung konkurrierender Modelle Konflikte auf, werden diese protokolliert. Mittels des Konfliktbegriffes können konsistente Interpretationen einer kompletten Zeichnung abstrakt definiert und während der Analyse einer konkreten Zeichnung bestimmt werden. Ein wahrscheinlichkeitsbasiertes Gütemaß bewertet jede dieser alternativen, globalen Interpretationen. Das Suchen einer bzgl. dieses Maßes optimalen Interpretation ist ein NP-hartes Problem. Ein Branch and Bound-Algorithmus stellt die adäquate Lösung dar.

Etwa 20 skulpturale Arbeiten des frühen 16. Jahrhunderts werden auf der Basis stilkritischer Untersuchungen dem so genannten Meister HW zugeschrieben. Die Bildwerke gruppieren sich um drei mit den Buchstaben HW monogrammierte und datierte Bildwerke: die Figur der Hl. Helena von der Hl.-Kreuz-Kapelle des Rathauses in Halle/Saale (1501/1502), das Altarretabel in der Bornaer Marienkirche (1511) und die Schöne Tür von der Franziskanerklosterkirche in Annaberg (1512). Neben zwei Arbeiten in Goslar und Braunschweig konzentrieren sich die Erhaltungsorte und die Provenienzen im albertinisch regierten sächsischen Raum, wobei insbesondere die Städte Chemnitz und Freiberg, Annaberg und Ehrenfriedersdorf im oberen Erzgebirge sowie die südlich bzw. südwestlich von Leipzig gelegenen Orte Borna und Pegau hervortreten. Seit den 1938 von Walter Hentschel vorgelegten Untersuchungen stand die Gruppe von Bildwerken nicht erneut im Mittelpunkt einer wissenschaftlichen Arbeit. Die jüngste Beschäftigung mit den Werken kann auf die Forschungen insbesondere der letzten 10-15 Jahre zu bildkünstlerischen Äußerungen des ausgehenden Mittelalters und der beginnenden Neuzeit aufbauen. Im Vordergrund der vorgelegten Arbeit stehen umfassende Untersuchungen der drei monogrammierten und datierten Bildwerke sowie der Tulpenkanzel in der Freiberger Marienkirche. Dabei gewähren die Untersuchungen zu den künstlerischen Voraussetzungen nicht nur Einblicke in den Schaffensprozess des Bildhauers und Bildschnitzers, sie ermöglichen zugleich eine Positionsbestimmung der skulpturalen Arbeiten im Kontext des bildnerischen und raumkünstlerischen Geschehens des ausgehenden 15. und beginnenden 16. Jahrhunderts innerhalb des deutschen Sprachraums.
Approx. 20 sculptural works from the early 16th century are ascribed to the so-called Master HW on the basis of stylistic examinations. These sculptures are grouped around three dated sculptures monogrammed with the letters HW: the sculpture of St. Helena in Hl.-Kreuz-Kapelle (Holy Cross Chapel) of the town hall in Halle/Saale (1501/1502), the altar retable in St. Mary’s Church in Borna (1511) and Schöne Tür [Beautiful Gate] at the church of the Franciscan monastery in Annaberg (1512). Apart from two other pieces in Goslar and Brunswick, the places of preservation as well as the provenances are concentrated in the Saxon region formerly governed by the Albertine dynasty with the towns of Chemnitz and Freiberg, Annaberg and Ehrenfriedersdorf in the upper Ore Mountains as well as the towns of Borna and Pegau located to the south and south-west of Leipzig as especially prominent locations. Since the examinations presented by Walter Hentschel in 1938 this group of sculptures has never been the centre of another scientific examination again. The most recent thesis on these works can build on the research in particular of the last 10 to 15 years regarding sculptural expressions at the end of the Middle Ages and at the beginning of the modern age. Comprehensive examinations of the three monogrammed and dated sculptures as well as of Tulpenkanzel (tulip pulpit) in St. Mary’s Church in Freiberg form the focus of the thesis submitted. In this respect, the examinations regarding the artistic preconditions do not only provide insights into the sculptor’s creative process; at the same time, they also allow a positioning of the sculptural work in the context of the events in graphic arts and interior design in the German speaking territories at the end of the 15th and at the beginning of the 16th century.

„Sketching the world“ bedeutet entwerfen von Welt mittels analogen und digitalen Zeichenmitteln - auch in Zukunft benötigt es dafür im Design Engineering der Künstlichen Intelligenz (KI) und der Emotionalen Intelligenz (EQ – nach Daniel Goleman). Zeichnen ist Kulturgut seit der Steinzeit und ist für die kulturelle Bildung als auch für das Design Engineering der Zukunft von großer Bedeutung. Zeichnen-Erfahrungen, sei es mit dem Stock im Sand oder mit dem Stift auf Papier, beginnt in der Primarbildung: Bereits hier ist es als Kulturtechnik essentiell für die Gesellschaft, indem der aktive Akt des Zeichnens Selbstausdruck und kulturelles Gedächtnis, Signifikat ist. Zeichnen ist individuelles und kollektives Wissens- und Bildungsmanagement für die Welt von morgen und muss in der Primabildung früh – multidisziplinär – verankert sein, soll es im Skizzieren, im Mapping, als Repräsentation und Projektion wirkungsvoll für das Design Engineering in Europa, auch in der Augmented Reality, eingesetzt werden.

Spätestens seit der Tagung „Staat Macht Uniform“ in Münster 2010 gilt die „Uniformenkunde“ nicht mehr als Liebhaberei von Militärgeschichtsfreunden, die Paspelierungen, Knöpfe und Schulterstücke akribisch dokumentieren. Auch die Militärgeschichte, die in Deutschland durch die Rolle der Wehrmacht im Zweiten Weltkrieg bis in die 1990er Jahre eher ein Schattendasein führte, was den breiten geschichtswissenschaftlichen Fachdiskurs betraf, wird inzwischen mit der Sozial-, Kultur-, Kommunikations- und Geistesgeschichte verbunden und gilt als innovativer Zweig der Geschichtswissenschaft: Neue Fragen werden gestellt, neue Antworten gegeben.

Die Ausstellungsbroschüren des „Projektraum am Weißen Hirsch. Galerie Grafikladen“ dokumentieren die Ausstellungstätigkeit eines nicht institutionellen Ausstellungsraumes in Dresden zwischen 2010 und 2016. Die Galerie widmete sich dem Werk zeitgenössischer junger Künstler, vorwiegend Meisterschüler und Absolventen, die in der Regel einen biografischen Bezug zu Dresden haben. Das Ausstellungskonzept war offen für die verschiedensten künstlerischen Ausdrucksformen – von Malerei über Fotografie bis zu performativen Ansätzen. Jährlich fanden vier bis fünf, von wechselnden Kuratoren entwickelte Ausstellungen statt. Im August 2016 eröffnete die vorerst letzte Ausstellung.

TURNING PAGES is an annual journal of bright voices from all over the world in creative and original writing in English in short fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and drama, as well as in drawings, art projects and many other related genres by students, academics, and writers. It is a production of the Chair of English Literatures at the English Department at Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany, and the first journal of its kind at the university. TURNING PAGES can be read in both ways, literally and metaphorically, implying that we need to turn the pages, that we need to demonstrate that literature has something to say and that it can also be interventionist as it shows how we can use our own imagination for the better. Therefore, TURNING PAGES will make readers not only literally browse through a variety of texts and turn pages, but it also seeks to reflect situations, events, experiences, or emotions that turn the page for individuals, or groups of people. The second issue of TURNING PAGES includes a variety of foci, ranging from meta-poetic texts and stories, to graphic artworks and illustrations via themes of belonging in an ever-changing world, tracing one’s origins, conquering personal struggles, or dealing with current incidents like COVID-19 and self-isolation. This issue combines students from diverse fields and backgrounds with professional writers from all over the world, such as Srishti Chaudhary, Andreas Gloge, Ogaga Ifowodo, Harald Linke, and Ian Watson.

Die vorliegende Studie geht dieser Bild- und Begriffsgeschichte des Konkreten im 19. Jahrhunderts anhand von Fallbeispielen der wissenschaftlichen Zeichnung nach.
Typical for the so called „long Nineteenth Century“ is an dynamic change of epistemic and political ideas. The notion “concrete” represents this change as a development in the history of science and the history of political thought, for instance in the work of great philosophers like Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Karl Marx, Sören Kierkegaard or Ernst Cassirer. Pictures took part on this change in the history of the concrete. The study discuss the iconology and ivarious definitions of the concrete in the Nineteenth Century in connection with the scientific drawing.

The following thesis examines the poetic oeuvre of George Grosz in relation to selected drawings from the same period of time. A survey of the research on George Grosz shows that the scholarly focus has so far mainly been on his work as a visual artist, whereas his published poems have not been treated with as much attention. Furthermore, there exists no in-depth analysis of possible intermedial relations between his poetic and visual works, although titles of poems and drawings, editorial characteristics of the publication of poems and drawings respectively, and the themes of both suggest a relation between the medially different artefacts of Grosz?s work.

The goal of this thesis is to analyse and interpret intermedial relations between Grosz?s poems and drawings and thus affirm their existence as a constituent element of his work. Following Jan Mukarovský?s suggestion of the dual character of content/theme and structure in every artefact, the thesis is subdivided into two separate analyses of content and structure of poems and drawings and their respective intermedial relations. The methodology used to analyse Grosz? work as an intermedial phenomenon draws from the theoretical background of both semiotics and intermediality. Of eminent importance for the methodology are thus Umberto Eco?s works on semiotics and Roland Barthes? works on semiotics in general and on the semantics of visual language in particular. Fernande Saint-Martin?s Semiotics of Visual Language (1990) serves as reference work for the analyses of the structural characteristics of Grosz? drawings and Roman Jakobson?s and Jirý Veltruský?s works on semiotics shed light on the structural differences between verbal and visual language. Furthermore, Irina O. Rajewsky?s systematic introduction to the field of intermedial research, Intermedialität (2002), provides an apparatus with which to categorize structural relations between poems and paintings.

The content analysis of poems and drawings focuses on certain recurrent topoi. These are the topoi of the big city, America and (circus) artists. The analyses show intermedial relations and are valuable for the (re-)interpretation of certain topoi, especially when it comes to the evaluation of the Americatopos. The most prominent and dominant topos in both media proves to be the big city. Overall, the analysis of thematic relations mirrors semiotic theory: poems as verbal artefacts are able to provide more content-information than the visual language of the drawings.

The structural analysis focuses on certain modes of visual representation as employed by the drawings, and sets out to show intermedial reverberations of the visual structures in the poems and how the verbal structures succeed in evoking certain structural characteristics of visual language in general of and Grosz?s drawings in particular. Whereas there is a semantic advantage of verbal language in the intermedial relations of the contents of the artefacts, the structural analyses show that it is visual structures that govern the relations between poems and drawings. Again, this can be put down to semiotic characteristics: visual language is less strucurally regulated than its verbal counterpart.

The conclusion tries to merge the results of the separate analyses by stating that intermedial relations exist and encompass the dualism of content and structure that makes up the artefacts. The specific character of the intermedial relations mirrors the characteristics of the two semiotic systems employed by drawings and poems, i. e. visual and verbal language. Finally, it is suggested that thematic and structural relations are mainly governed by the topos of the big city, which hence can be seen as the thematic and structural paradigm of the analysed poems and drawings by George Grosz and of their intermedial relations.
