Determining the root of an equation means making the equation equal zero, (f (f) = 0). In engineering, there are often complex mathematical equations. With the numerical method approach, the equation can be searching for the value of the equation root. However, to find a double root approach with several numerical methods such as the bisection method, regulatory method, Newton-Raphson method, and Secant method, it is not efficient in determining multiple roots. This study aims to determine the roots of non-linear equations that have multiple roots using the modified Secant method. Besides knowing the effect of determining the initial value for the Secant method that is modifying in determining the non-linear root of persistence that has multiple roots. Comparisons were also make to other numerical methods in determining twin roots with the modified Secant method. A comparison is done to determine the initial value used. Simulations are performing on equations that have one single root and two or more double roots.

Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is a worldwide public health crisis. During huge surge in COVID-19 cases, most of the patient arrived at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai were severe due to late presentation and also available evidence demonstrating that the delay in treatment is directly associated with increased mortality or poor patient outcome. As an innovative concept of Zero Delay COVID-19 Ward were set up to provide the required critical care for all severe COVID-19 cases. The experience of setting up of such Zero Delay COVID-19 Ward and profile of admitted COVID-19 patients were described in this paper. Methods: A total of 4515 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients admitted at Zero Delay COVID-19 Ward was analyzed retrospectively from 7th July to 31st December 2020. Results: At the time of admission the frequency of dyspnea were 85.6% among them 99.1% recovered from dyspnea after the oxygen therapy and other management at Zero Delay COVID-19 Ward. Of the 4515 COVID-19 individuals, about 1829 (40.5%) had comorbidity, 227 (5%) had died. Multivariable logistic regression analysis, COVID-19 death was more likely to be associated with comorbidity (OR: 18.687; 95% CI: 11.229-31.1) than other variables. Conclusions: Comorbidity is an independent high risk factor for mortality of COVID-19 patients. From our observation, it is strongly recommended that effective zero delay covid-19 ward model will help for the prevention of mortality in current/expected waves of COVID-19.

Pada zaman pasca modern atau globalisasi sekarang ini,yang sebagian manusianya cenderung mengutamakan kesejahteraan materi dibandingkan kesejahteraan rohani, membuat ekonomi menjadi perhatian yang sangat besar, tidak banyak orang yang mementingkan peningkatan spiritual. Maka di era globalisasi sekarang ini keterpurukan ekonomi di Indonesia akan diterapkan kebijakan dan peraturan yang baru dalam memperbaiki perekonomian bangsa sehingga rakyat yang menderita dapat dengan segera menikmati hasil perekonomian kita yang mapan di masa yang akan datang baik perekonomian yang bersifat makro dan mikro. Perkembangan lain yang sangat mengembirakan adalah terlaksananya sistem ganda dalam dunia pendidikan, hal ini berlangsung baik di lembaga pendidikan yaitu kerjasama sekolah dengan pihak usahawan dalam proses belajar mengajar. Fungsi ekonomi dalam pendidikan adalah menunjang kelancaran proses pendidikan bukan merupakan modal yang dikembangkan dan juga mendapatkan keuntungan yang berlimpah, Di dalam mengelola dan merencanakan sumber dana, maka ada tiga macam perencanaan biaya pendidikan yaitu: a). Perencanaan sacara tradisional, yaitu merencanakan masing-masing pendidikan maka masing masing pendidikan tersebut ditentukan biayanya; b). SP4 (Sistem Perencanaan Penyusunan Program Dan Penganggaran): Pengaturan jenis-jenis kegiatan dalam pendidikan diatur dalam system, alokasi dana disusun berdasarkan realita, dan semua kegiatan ditujukan pada pencapaian target pendidikan; c). Biogas diperoleh dari hasil olahan berbagai materi berbasis pertanian-terna merupakan bioenergi terbarukan (renewable energy), solusi substitusi migas (BBM) hingga ke tingkat industri. Semakin menyusutnya minyak bumi mengharuskan akselerasi penciptaan sumber energi alternatif yang mampu memenuhi kebutuhan energi migas yang semakin meningkat seiring pesatnya pertambahan penduduk dan sektor industri. Manajemen pengolahan dan pemanfaatan limbah pertanian dan peternakan dilakukan juga untuk meminimalisir dampak negatifnya dan memaksimalkan dampak keuntungan serta tetap memperhatikan keseimbangan sistem produksi dengan lingkungan hidup (biogas tidak mengeluarkan asap). Sludge sebagai hasil ikutan merupakan biofertilizer, yang tidak lagi mengundang parasit dan biji gulma, dan pupuk alternatif solusi pencegahan berbagai dampak pencemaran logam berat pada tanah. Dengan metode deduktif kualitatif, tulisan ini bertujuan mengemukakan secara komprehensif perlunya akselerasi penggunaan biogas sebagai pemanfaatan bioenergi untuk dalam rangka mendukung ketahanan energi, pemberdayaan ekonomi dan kelembagaan. Realisasi akselerasi dan efektivitas pengaplikasian biogas sebagai sumber energi alternatif yang relatif ekonomis dan efisien, bahkan dapat menghasilkan pendapatan tambahan dari pendistribusian energi listrik yang dihasilkan biogas ke pengguna lain yang membutuhkannya. Penggunaan biogas memungkinkan pengembangan konsep zero wasted management (dalam SITT) dan pengembangan konsep pertanian berkelanjutan yang mengintegrasikan berbagai aspek sosial ekonomi masyarakat pertanian dan aspek lingkungan. Penggunaan biogas merupakan pilihan tepat sebagai bioenergi dan pupuk, serta diperolehnya keuntungan ganda (multi margin), pemberdayaan ekonomi dan kelestarian lingkungan.

Isu pangan adalah isu global yang sangat penting dalam mendukung tujuan pembangunan yang berkelanjutan/sustainable development goals(SDGs) pada tujuan kedua yaitu zero hunger. Penelitian ini sangat penting dalam rangka mendukung kegiatan swasembada pangan/daging nasional di Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguraikan dan mengkaji potensi dan peluang hutan tanaman industri (IUPHHK-HTI) dalam mendukung program swasembada daging nasional. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif dan dianalisis secara kualitatif. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari data sekunder yang bersumber dari instansi dan studi pustaka yang terkait dengan topik penelitian ini. Pengolahan data dilakukan setelah data sekunder diperoleh dengan cara mentabulasikannya dan menguraikan sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Bulan Oktober 2019 dengan sifat desk study. Hasil dari studi ini adalah penerapan swasembada daging (sapi) nasional dengan konsep silvopastura sangat potensial untuk diterapkan di areal hutan tanaman industri (IUPHHK-HTI) dari aspek ekonomi (meningkatkan pendapatan/ekonomi masyarakat), aspek luasan (kecenderunganpeningkatan luasan hutan tanaman industri) yang sangat potensial dipadukan dengan ternak (sapi) karena adanya hubungan mutualisme dan aspek pendanaan (potensi pemanfaatan dana CSR) dari perusahaan yang bergerak di IUPHHK-HTI. Sektor kehutanan dalam hal ini IUPHHK-HTI sangat potensial dalam mendukung swasembada pangan/daging dengan konsep silvopastura dan sebaiknya dipertimbangan untuk dikembangkan di IUPHHK-HTI terutama milik pemerintah untuk selanjutnya dikembangkan ke yang lebih luas. Kementerian LHK harus lebih lebih serius lagi dalam mengelola wanaternak dengan melibatkan stakeholderyang terlibat, meningkatkan peran Unit Manajemen IUPHHK-HTI dengan skema kemitraan dengan masyarakat, mendorong kegiatan CSR ke usaha-usaha produktif dan berdampak ganda, dan pemberian insentif bagi pemegang ijin IUPHHK-HTI yang sukses melaksanakan wanaternak atau silvopastura. Abstract: This research aims to describe the syntactic errors in the response text of class IX B SMPN 12 Malang. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with three sub activities, namely (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) conclusion drawing. The results of the data analysis on the syntactic errors found in the response text of class IX B SMPN 12 Malang took the form of (1) errors at the phrasal level and (2) sentences. Errors at the phrasal level include (1) incorrect use of prepositions, (2) excessive use of elements, (3) inappropriate use of elements, (4) improper wording, and (5) double pluralization. Syntactic errors at the sentence level include (1) ambiguous sentences, (2) illogical sentences, (3) inappropriate use of conjunctions, (4) excessive use of conjunctions, (5) omission of conjunctions, (6) zero-subject sentences, (7) unpredicated sentences, (8) use of prepositions in transitive verbs, (9) use of unnecessary interrogative words, and (10) incomplete sentences. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman dengan tiga alur kegiatan, yaitu (1) reduksi data, (2) penyajian data, dan (3) penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian kesalahan sintaksis pada teks tanggapan kelas IX B SMPN 12 Malang meliputi (1) kesalahan pada tataran frasa, dan (2) kalimat. Kesalahan pada tataran frasa meliputi (1) kesalahan penggunaan preposisi, (2) penggunaan unsur yang berlebihan, (3) penggunaan unsur yang tidak tepat, (4) susunan kata yang tidak tepat, dan (5) penjamakan ganda. Kesalahan sintaksis pada tataran kalimat meliputi (1) kalimat rancu, (2) kalimat tidak logis, (3) penggunaan konjungsi yang tidak tepat, (4) penggunaan konjungsi yang berlebihan, (5) penghilangan konjungsi, (6) kalimat tidak bersubjek, (7) kalimat tidak berpredikat, (8) penggunaan preposisi pada verba transitif, (9) penggunaan kata tanya tidak perlu, dan (10) kalimat tidak lengkap. Background: Rabies is a highly infectious zoonotic disease with a high case fatality rate. In India, approximately 20,000 deaths among 17.4 million exposed people occur every year. The data on animal bites is scarce and unreliable due to poor surveillance and hence, the projected figures are far less from the actual numbers. The present study was conducted to describe epidemiological characteristics of animal bite patients attending casualty department at a tertiary care Government health facility in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.Methods: It was a retrospective study based on secondary data received from animal bite register for year 2017 at casualty department of the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla, Data of 1512 patients attending the casualty department with history of animal bite was included for the study purpose.Results: About 58% of victims were males and the maximum (22.6%) animal bites were seen in 21-30 years age group. Majority (51.6%) of patients were exposed to dog bites, followed by monkey bites (42.85%) and cat bite 49 (3.2%). About 69.9% of animal bites were in the lower limbs, followed by upper limbs (22.1%), abdomen (4.4%) and head and neck region (3.6%). Maximum bites were category III bites (74.6%) followed by of category II bites (12.9%).Conclusions: Study highlights the neglected but significant picture of animal bite in the Shimla city. Timely and correct post exposure prophylaxis for the animal bite victims is necessary to prevent rabies. This should be supplemented with a robust surveillance and reporting system. With the global aim of zero rabies deaths by 2030; it is time to strengthen the anti-rabies activities at every level.

La presente investigación trata el tema de José de Diego ante Manuel Zeno Gandía durante los años de 1890 a 1918. El objetivo de este trabajo es demostrar que las Crónicas de un mundo enfermo de Manuel Zeno Gandía fueron escritas en clave para ocultar el verdadero personaje que es José de Diego. Esta investigación está plenamente justificada, ya que se desconoce el pensamiento político de Manuel Zeno Gandía y la crítica que hizo sobre José de Diego en sus obras. Para lograr mis objetivos fue necesario descifrar las claves que aparecen en las novelas-crónicas de Zeno Gandía. Para descifrarlas estudié la vida y la obra política tanto de Manuel Zeno Gandía como de José de Diego. Descubrí los recursos literarios utilizados por Zeno Gandía para indicar que José de Diego es el personaje detrás de los personajes. Comparé los discursos políticos, la vida y la obra literaria de de Diego con el contenido de la obra de Zeno Gandía. Corroboré los datos históricos en Fuentes primarias y secundarias sobre el período estudiado. Utilicé como fuentes primarias la obra escrita y manuscritos de Manuel Zeno Gandía y de José de Diego, la prensa de la época y documentos de los partidos políticos en los cuales ambos autores participaron. Encontré que en las Crónicas de un mundo enfermo Manuel Zeno Gandía utiliza una serie de claves y recursos literarios para que el lector advierta que la persona oculta detrás de cada personaje es José de Diego. Un ejemplo es la alusión. Zeno Gandía hace en las Crónicas constantes alusiones a la vida y la obra de José de Diego. Otro hallazgo importante es que Zeno Gandía dirigió su crítica a de Diego porque vio en él una personalidad contradictoria, que decía tener unas posturas políticas radicales, pero al llevarlas a la práctica se convertían en moderadas. Por último, hallamos a un Manuel Zeno Gandía nuevo, el militante político participante del Partido Autonomista, el Partido Autonomista Ortodoxo, el Parido Republicano, el Partido Unión de Puerto Rico y el primer Partido de la Independencia de Puerto Rico. Antes sólo se había estudiado como literato. El primer capítulo de esta tesis está dedicado a la explicación del significado de las claves utilizadas por Manuel Zeno Gandía en sus novelas-crónicas. El segundo capítulo expone los años de militancia política tanto de Zeno Gandía como de José de Diego desde 1890 hasta 1898 y cómo se refleja en las novelas-crónicas. En el tercer capítulo se trabajan los años de transición del régimen político español al estadounidense en Puerto Rico que van desde 1898 hasta 1900, la repercusión que tiene en ambos líderes estudiados y cómo lo plantea Zeno Gandía en sus novelas-crónicas. El cuarto capítulo es sobre los años en que se afianza el gobierno civil estadounidense bajo la Ley Foraker de 1900 a 1917, estudio las posturas políticas asumidas por de Diego y Zeno Gandía ante temas como el desarrollo de esta ley, el status político de la Isla entre otros y cómo aparecen discutidos en las novelas crónicas. El quinto capítulo expone el tema del proyecto de Ley Jones de 1917, que otorgaba la ciudadanía estadounidense a los puertorriqueños, la discusión que se generó y su repercusión en las novelas-crónicas.
The current investigation is about Manuel Zeno Gandía's stance towards José de Diego during the 1890-1918 period. The primary objective of this work is to demonstrate that the Chronicles of a Sick World (as roughly translated. Crónicas de un mundo enfermo, in Spanish) by Zeno Gandía was written in code to obscure the true character in display: José de Diego's. The investigation considers the political thought of Manuel Zeno Gandía which had until then been undiscovered, and the critique expressed towards José de Diego. To back my objective, it was necessary to decipher the codes appearing in Zeno Gandía's chronicle-novels. To decipher them, I studied the life and legacies of both Zeno Gandía and compared their political discourses, life, and literary works. The historical aspect is factually backed with multiple primary and secondary sources from the time period, like published literature and manuscripts of Zeno Gandía and de Diego and other sources like newspapers and documents released by the political parties each had participated in. What I found is that in Crónicas de un mundo enfermo Manuel Zeno Gandía utilizes a series of clues as literary resources that points to José de Diego being whom is represented. An example of this is the use of the constant allusions used in Crónicas to de Diego's life and work. Another important find is that Zeno Gandía directed his critique towards de Diego because in him he found a contradictory personality, because though seeming to have certain radical political views, when put in practice de Diego turned out to be more of a moderate, in Zeno Gandía's thought. Lastly, Manuel Zeno Gandía is viewed in a new light- as a political militant, participant of the Partido Autonomista (autonomous party), Partido Autonomista Ortodoxo (orthodox autonomous party), Partido Republicano (republican party), Partido Unión de Puerto Rico (union party of Puerto Rico), and the first Partido de la Independencia de Puerto Rico (first independence party of Puerto Rico). Previously he had only been studied and regarded as a writer.

In the context of American imperialism, what role does the interracial/interethnic literary romance play? Do these romances offer the possibility of integrating politically disparate elements, or do these literary unions reveal the conflicts of nation-building at a time of territorial expansion? Drawing upon Doris Sommer's work on heterosexual romances and Robert McKee Irwin's work on homosocial bonds and both authors studies on nation-formation in Latin America, I explore interethnic/interracial unions in works by American and Latino writers and analyze the role these fictional romances and unions serve in representing the inclusion of new peoples and the formation of American national identity at the time of territorial expansion. The texts examined include Helen Hunt Jackson's Ramona, María Amparo Ruiz de Burton's The Squatter and the Don, Elizabeth Van Deusen's collection short story readers, Stories of Porto Rico and Tropical Tales (Porto Rico) and Manuel Zeno Gandía's Redentores. Through their use of the interracial/interethnic romance and unions, I argue that these writers reveal the complications of the larger geopolitical unions being constructed by the United States in the second half of the nineteenth century and early part of the twentieth century. These texts show the potentially subversive power that love, the romance trope, and related themes and homosocial bonds may have in a genre that traditionally emphasizes unions; in addition these works demonstrate that in unions—whether romantic or political—tensions will always persist. Lastly, these texts also demonstrate the frailty of using the nation-as-lovers as the emblematic trope of a nation that will hold within it multiple unions. Issues discussed include how romance is constructed, including the allusions, metaphors, plot devices, and motifs incorporated to tell the story of that romance; representation of these unions in light of United States' anti-miscegenation laws; the construction of consent; education and the lessons of domesticity.
