Environmental monitoring of pollutants, such as NOx and COx, which can be facilitated by a range of gas sensors, is of considerable fundamental and practical importance. This work has been focused on the synthesis and evaluation of zeolite β with tin (Sn-BEA) and dealuminated β (DeAl-BEA) zeolites. The zeolite samples have been extensively investigated by IR, UV-VIS and NMR spectroscopy, XRD, TGA, and N2 adsorption-desorption. The prepared Sn-BEA sample is characterised by the submicron particle size, an almost defect-free structure, and high hydrophobicity. Sensors containing selective microp

This article presents the results of the conversion of dihydroxyacetone (DHA) to lactic acid (LA) with the use of zeolite catalysts. For this purpose, synthetic zeolite beta (BEA) and natural clinoptilolite (CLI) were used as a matrix. The zeolites were modified with various metals (Sn, Fe, Cu and Zn) during ion exchange under hydrothermal conditions. The DHA conversion process with the participation of metal-functionalized zeolites allowed us to obtain intermediates, i.e., pyruvic aldehyde (PAL), which during the further reaction was transformed into a mixture of products such as ethyl lactat

In the sugar mill in Tanegashima which is an isolated island in Japan, raw sugar production process produces raw sugar and bagasse simultaneously. Raw bagasse is not storable because of its perishability due to high moisture content. Actually, the bagasse boiler burns more bagasse than that is required for the sugar mill. Hence, the temperature of flue gas increases and a massive amount of unused heat at around 200 °C is exhausted during sugar mill operation period. Abstract:
A multi-scale method combining the finite volume model (FVM) considering Darcy-Brinkman formulation with grand conical Monte Carlo (GCMC) is built to study the process of CO2 adsorption in 13X zeolite particle bed. The saturation adsorption capacities and adsorption heat in FVM method are calculated by Langmuir model and linear fitting formula, respectively. The GCMC method is used to obtain the parameters of Langmuir model and linear fitting formula. The multi-scale method overcomes the shortcomings of the saturation adsorption capacities restricted by level of experimentation or empirical fo

A thermodynamic model is developed to predict trends in limiting COP of an adsorption cooling cycle with thermal regeneration between n beds, where n is any even number and each bed is spatially isothermal. The results of the model indicate the optimum distribution of beds throughout the cycle to maximize thermal regeneration. Simulations were run for silica gel-water and zeolite-water adsorbent-refrigerant pairs as the maximum bed temperature and the bed’s sensible load were varied. For the silica gel-water pair, the exothermic adsorption process occurs at lower temperatures than the endother

Three catalysts based on X-zeolite have been developed by exchanging its Na+ ion with Copper, Iron and Nickel metal ions and tested in a SI engine exhaust for a wide range of exhaust and operating conditions. Of the three catalysts, the Cu-X catalyst exhibits the best NOx and CO conversion performance while Ni-X shows slightly better performance compared to the Fe-X catalyst at any catalyst temperature. Unlike noble metals, the doped X-zeolite catalysts, studied here, exhibit significant NOx reduction for a wide λ range and exhibit a slow rate of decrease with increase in λ ratio. Back pressur

Effects of three different reduction environments on the preparation of Cu(I)X and Cu(I)Y zeolites and their adsorption selectivities towards propylene were investigated. NaX and NaY zeolites were ion exchanged with ammoniacal copper solution before they were reduced with 1 h of ammonia flow, 2 h of ammonia flow, or 1 h of hydrogen flow. Results from inductively couple plasma indicated that there was an incomplete exchange between Cu+ and Na+, which may be from the limitation of this preparation method. The x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results showed that all reduction methods provided the

Abstract:
From previous studies, Sn-promoted Pt/KL prepared by vapor-phase co-impregnation exhibited high stability and selectivity to C8-aromatics for n-octane aromatization. Although the Pt/KL has many benefits, one of the serious drawbacks is its sensitivity to sulfur poisoning. Based on previous investigations, the addition of rare earth elements (RE; e.g. Tm, Ce, and Dy) into Pt/KL could improve sulfur tolerance of the catalysts. In this work, the sulfur resistance of PtSn/KL and RE-promoted PtSn/KL has been studied. PtSnRE/KL catalysts with Pt:Sn:RE ratio of 1:1:0.15 were prepared by sequential RE
