In human cells, histones bind DNA and form chromatin, a nucleoprotein complex important for various cellular processes. Abnormal histone modification is known to play causal roles in the development of cancer. Abstract:

Zinc dipyrrin complexes have the potential to act as cheap, effective photosensitizers. Synthesizing and studying different types could lead to more efficient solar energy harvesting processes, especially the production of solar fuel. Here, two attempts to synthesize 1,3,7,9-tetraphenyl-5-mesityldipyrromethene are reported and discussed. According to 1H NMR, the first synthesis attempt was not successful. The second synthesis attempt was not purified effectively, so 1H NMR produced inconclusive results. Further purification strategies or alternate synthesis methods are required.

<p>The Zn-Sb binary phase system has been of interest for many years in the search for efficient and low-cost thermoelectric materials. Of primary interest has been the Zn<sub>4</sub>Sb<sub>3</sub> phase which exhibits a thermoelectric figure of merit, <em>zT</em>, in excess of 1 in an intermediate temperature range. In this study, Zn<sub>4</sub>Sb<sub>3</sub> is shown to be entropically stabilized with respect to decomposition to Zn and ZnSb through the effects of configurational disorder and phonon free energy. Single-phase stability is predicted for a range of compositions and temperatures.

Στην εργασία αυτή πραγματοποιήθηκε μια βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση σχετικά με τις ευαισθητοποιημένες ηλεκτροχημικές κυψελίδες, τις αρχές λειτουργίας τους, τα υλικά τους και τους τρόπους παρασκευής τους. Παρασκευάσαμε ηλεκτροχημικές κυψελίδες χρησιμοποιώντας διαφορετικές χρωστικές και ηλεκτρολύτες. The major project, reported in Part I, is focussed on the mimicking of enzymes in order to produce simple catalyst molecules that enhance the rate of ester hydrolysis. Представлен литературный обзор в области свойств сплавов из сложнолегированных латуней и заготовок из них. В экспериментальной части работы представлены результаты исследований, направленных на изучение механических свойств сложнолегированной латуни CuZnMnAlSiNiCr в горячепрессованном состоянии. Выполнена статистическая обработка результатов измерений. Наблюдается значительная дисперсия механических свойств, что объяснено сложностью химического состава, фазового и структурного состояния сплава.
