Abstract:

Chapter 1 provides an introduction to metalloenzymes and discusses Ni-containing superoxide dismutase (NiSOD), which features Ni-thiolate ligation at the active site, and Cu containing galactose oxidase, which utilises phenoxyl radicals to perform its catalytic function. Studies concerning low molecular weight analogue complexes of each active site are reviewed and their relevance with respect to enzyme structure and function is discussed. As estruturas do tri(hidroximetil) amino metano complexado com cobre Cu(II), Cu[NH2C(COH3)3]2+H2O e do tri(hidroximetil)amino metano dopado com prata Ag(I), Ag[NH2C(COH3)3] foram determinados por difração de raios-x. Reactions of 3,5-dimethylpyrazole-1-carboxamidinium nitrate (dpca∙HNO3) and 4-acetyl-3-amino-5-methylpyrazole (aamp) with transition metals under different reaction conditions are presented.
