Trabalho de projecto de mestrado, Tradução, Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Letras, 2010<br>Este estudo tem como principal objectivo analisar a tradução da língua alemã para a portuguesa do romance para jovens Anton oder die Zeit des unwerten Lebens, de Elisabeth Zöller. Nele, faz-se um levantamento dos problemas de tradução encontrados, seguindo-se a reflexão sobre a causa dos problemas, sendo apresentada uma solução para os mesmos, acompanhada pelo motivo de escolha de tradução. Tendo-se optado pelo uso de dois métodos de tradução que, de acordo com alguns teóricos, se excluem mutuamente, a adaptação e a estrangeirização, os problemas de tradução encontram-se categorizados de acordo com o método utilizado. Deste modo, o presente projecto tem como objectivo demonstrar que a articulação dos métodos da adaptação e da estrangeirização pode resultar de forma positiva numa tradução, sendo o mesmo comprovado com a tradução da obra supracitada. O presente estudo salienta, igualmente, uma desvalorização geral da literatura infanto-juvenil e sua tradução no âmbito da investigação literária e de tradução, apontando-se para a necessidade de promover estudos nessa área. Para além desse aspecto, procura chamar-se a atenção para o facto de existir uma fraca aposta em Portugal no que diz respeito à publicação de livros infanto-juvenis que abordem o tema do nacional-socialismo na Alemanha e das suas implicações dramáticas para as crianças e os jovens. A escolha do romance em questão deriva dessa consciência, pretendendo este trabalho servir como um incentivo não só à aposta de estudos da literatura infanto-juvenil e da sua tradução, como também à valorização de obras acerca do Terceiro Reich no mercado editorial dirigido ao público infanto-juvenil.<br>This study analyses the translation of the german book Anton oder die Zeit des unwerten Lebens by Elisabeth Zöller into the portuguese language. It presents a list of the problems of the translation, followed by the study of its causes. It also offers a solution for those translation problems, as well as the motive for the presented solution. Two methods for the translation of the book were used: adaptation and foreignization. According to some theorists, these methods are mutually exclusive and should not be used in the same translation. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that adaptation and foreignization are both effective tools which should be criteriously combined in a translation. Following this approach, the translation problems are categorized according to the used method. Another aim of this study is to give evidence to the general devaluation of children's literature and of its specific translation and furthermore to highlight the low number of children's books in Portugal that approach the theme of WWII, especially of books that refer the life of handicapped people in Germany during WWII. All these issues are questioned through the analysis of Anton oder die Zeit des unwerten Lebens, as this is a children's book which focuses on this theme. Thus, this study represents a stimulus not only for the study of children's literature and its translation, but also for the publication of more children' s books about the Third Reich in Portugal.
