Abstract:
Purpose. The article studies the history of the magazine “Zolotoe runo” (“Golden Fleece”) that has been publishing in Moscow from 1906 till 1909. It was a project of the young art lover, millionaire N. P. Ryabushinsky, who decided to continue the mission of “miriskusniki” (members of the “World of Art” movement) and promote the aesthetic principles of symbolism, which he saw as the most promising style of art at the beginning of the 20th century.Results. Based on the analysis of the memoirs written by contemporaries, correspondence between the representatives of the Russian cultural elite, publications in the periodical press, as well as outcomes of modern research, the author argues that the magazine “Zolotoe runo”, providing its pages to outstanding writers and publishing works of iconic artists and articles about their works, became one of the most influential periodicals about art in Russia.Conclusion. This research shows that, having said a new word in art and journalism, the magazine “Zolotoe runo” became a worthy reflection of the artistic life of Russia at the beginning of the 20th century.

Abstract:
The article treats the role art magazine Zolotoe runo played in history of symbolist’s theoretical ideas. By 1906, symbolism as a philosophical and aesthetic movement enters a crisis stage (and, then, a renaissance) — the pioneering movement has become utterly formal, tendentious, and has even acquired public recognition, which contradicts the modernist spirit. Zolotoe runo turns into a platform for the adversaries of outdated, decadent or individual symbolism, changing the symbolist nature and landscape. V. F. Khodasevich suggests that not only hasn’t symbolism been yet studied, but it also doesn`t seem to have been even read. This phenomenon and its notion deserve proper research. The scientific community’s interest in this movement is growing, as the importance of symbolism comes to light, and it becomes more evident that it was not only a milestone in history, but it also predetermined many trends in the development of culture and art up to the present day. Apart from that, the extreme heterogeneity within the symbolist movement and its paradoxical and unexpected metamorphoses are rarely understood. Nonetheless, through the analysis of such magazines as Zolotoe runo, and by drawing upon the research of cultural scientists, art historians and literary critics, we can clarify the features of symbolism, contradictory and holistic at the same time.

Abstract:
B. Sadovskoy led an active literary activity in the first half of the twentieth century. In 1904 the editor of “Vesy” V. Bryusov invited the young writer to collaborate in the journal. B. Sadovskoy proved to be a talented literary critic and poet. Nevertheless, his reviews and notes were considered as pretentious and sharp in expressions that led to the condemnation and alienation of many contemporaries in relation to the writer. A few years later B. Sadovskoy became a member of “Zolotoe Runo”. Editorial policy of this journal from the first issue became the subject of controversy in literary circles, especially from the Symbolists who published their works on the pages of “Vesy”. The journals “Vesy” and “Zolotoe Runo” played a considerable role in B. Sadovskoy’ formation as a writer, poet and literary critic.

Abstract:
Bibliography of literary and critical works (books, articles, reviews, conversations, notes, “letters”, etc.) by Georgy Ivanovich Chulkov (1879 –1939), compiled and published on these pages for the first time, gives an idea of the range of creative interests and the evolution of aesthetic views of one of the major literary and cultural figures of Russian Symbolism in the first two decades of the 20th century. Poet, translator, novelist, playwright, literary critic and journalist, publisher, and since the 1920s also a literary critic, who created serious scientific works about A.S. Pushkin, F.I. Tyutchev, F.M. Dostoevsky and other writers, and memoirist, author of valuable memoirs about the literary life of the Silver Age “Years of travel” (1930), Chulkov was also a sensitive theater and art critic, who collaborated with V.F. Komissarzhevskaya, V.E. Meyerhold, M.V. Dobuzhinsky, E.E. Lansere, Z.A. Serebryakova and others. Having linked his creative fate with such iconic magazines of the Silver Age as “Novyi put'”, “Voprosy zhizni”, “Zolotoe runo”, and then “Narodopravstvo”, whose editorial policy he influenced and in some cases determined, Chulkov often and regularly acted as a literary critic, ideologist of literary trends of “mystical anarchism” and “mystical realism”, a fighter for the social and national significance of contemporary literature. Chulkov's literary criticism is not only an important part of his creative legacy, but also an irreplaceable feature of the complex and diverse literary movement of the first two decades of the 20th century
